81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Runes push fees as high as 900/vbyte or $196 US on: April 21, 2024, 01:44:41 PM
Why are we allowing this?
I would like to start a group who advocates for Bitcoin as it was intended.  Is anyone interested?
We should hold David Bailey responsible. His company is basically funding ordinals and runes. And they are responsible for spamming the Bitcoin chain thereby causing a high transaction fee. Even though it seems they have a lot of money to spend, like the one where people spent hundreds of dollars per block in transaction fee. They can't continue this for long. To save the Bitcoin network our advocacy should be getting the ordinals and runes off the network.

Or we can let them have it their way and burn off their funds if they decide to continue with their bollocks. They've done this with Ordinals and it relaxed after weeks of it bugging the chain. Runes is clogging the mempool simply because it's a new thing and a lot of people are wanting to get in on the hype train. Give it some time and the hype will die down, alongside the enormous fees that people are paying now to get a transaction confirmed.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you increasing your bitcoin investments because of today halving ? on: April 20, 2024, 11:51:47 PM
With or without the halving, I am trying to add more into my stash and I'm planning to hold onto it for a long time. I also try to average my buys to make sure that I'm receiving the most value out of those bitcoins. People who are looking to buy bitcoin as a form of investment should do it regardless of the price or event and forget about it for a while. This is the only way you will not get that urge to sell especially if it's performing great or poor.

Halving doesn't really change much except for making bitcoins relatively scarcer due to the block rewards being cut in half. Other than that, it's just a normal day for most people.
83  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥 HugeWin.com Presents Mega Jackpot and Bonus Deals for Casino Lovers 🔥🔥 on: April 20, 2024, 11:02:40 PM
Hmmm that's something to take note of, speedy withdraw is also one of the features to look out when wanting to use a casino and it's seem hugewin.com covers that criteria and this will certainly increase the population of customer gambling there although since their promotion is still on the primary level seeing more active competition and bonus offers will also go along way towards their stay and also gathering crowd of gambling in the community.
Seamless experience is what people expect with blockchains and a platform that can provide seamless experience to user, will be very attractive and favorite platform to use.

This shared experience with quick approval and processing for withdrawal from icopress means that Withdrawal approval on HugeWin is automatic, not manual. I know there will be cases with which platforms will do manual review and processing but such cases are not regularly seen.

Generally with quick withdrawal progress like this, HugeWin provides a good service for their users.

They could be doing manual reviews on withdrawals that are a lot higher than what icopress did. I've never seen a casino that auto approves withdrawals that are worth more than $50k, unless that person is a known figure in the scene such as Drake. Anyways, it's relieving to see that a plarform no longer performs manual withdraws for small amounts. It's a check on my book, and something that other platforms are obviously missing.
84  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No gambling today due to bitcoin high transaction fee. on: April 20, 2024, 10:31:38 PM
If you can transfer your coins to an exchange and trade those bitcoins to doge or XRP, then you can still play to other platforms that accepts these for deposits. These coins are seldomly affected by the increase in fees on the bitcoin network, making them good for transferring funds tp gambling platforms. You can always send back these coins to an exchange once you're done and convert to btc, after which you can decide if you'll keep it there in the mean time or you keep the alts as is. It's not a solution but rather a nice workaround if you may.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you stopped using bitcoin for small transactions completely ? on: April 20, 2024, 09:53:32 PM
During these times when bitcoin prices are high and the mempool is congested, I try to look for altcoins with minimal transaction fees that can get the job done. It may not be something that supports bitcoin as a cryptocurrency but hey, that's why altcoin exists. If you are someone who's really strong into bitcoin and won't try to use other coins for something that can't be done by bitcoin then you'll just lose money in the long run. Let's face it, bitcoin isn't suitable for microtransactions as it gets bigger. We should look for alternatives if we want to accomplish what we need to accomplish.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Runes will be worthless. Don't waste your precious BTC on huge fees. on: April 20, 2024, 09:26:29 PM
Given the gullibility of people, Runes will be around for a while and people will try to buy and sell them just like what they did with crap coins. They are making money off it even if it's a trivial amount. They also have large groups of people willing to ride these crazy stuffs in exchange for cents, so there will always be a market for silly token creations.

Runes is the latest crypto get rich quick scheme.

Unfortunately get rich quick scams like ordinals, memecoins, and NFTs is appealing to many stupid people who don't have the patience for keeping long term investment.

And they come in huge numbers! Whatever these token creators are doing to appeal to the masses is working, and they are making money off of these hordes of people looking to catch the next get-rich-quick train.
87  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can people still get the addictive nature through friendly games on: April 20, 2024, 09:03:07 PM
It depends on the person playing these games, but for me it's more addictive to watch these games rather than be a participant to it. Perhaps that one friend is already too much into gambling, and sees everything as a gamble or just has a superiority complex. There's just a number of things that could explain the behavior of your friend to be honest, but superiority complex may be the best explanation considering that he believes he cannot be beaten and even proposed to wager some real money on the bet. Nevertheless, it's good to reach out to this one friend and constantly remind him that friendships aren't worth breaking just because of some stupid parlor games.
88  Economy / Economics / Re: Is fossil fuels REALLY running out quickly, or do we still have time? on: April 20, 2024, 12:01:42 AM
A lot of power companies are still burning fossil fuels anyway to produce electricty, so while on paper, electric vehicles and everything may sound green, we are still burning fossil fuels to get the end result: power. It's true that fossil fuels are a limited resource that won't be replaced for millions years, but switching to something that still uses it en masse won't stop nor mitigate the problem.

This move by your government is clearly just favoring the huge electric companies, and they may even be on these companies' payroll to advocate heavily on the use of electric vehicles. I'm not against electric vehicles, but they also deplete natural resources at the same rate as they do with using ICE vehicles. Where do you think those huge batteries come from anyway? Roll Eyes
89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tropicana, 3rd oldest casino in Vegas, shutting down after 67 years on: April 19, 2024, 11:46:00 PM
Not sure if you guys have heard about this story, but since I'm more of a traditional land base players and so are others here, let me share you this story,

I'll probably played at least once here in 99-00, if my memories serves me right. (I'm not stateside btw). Anyone in the US has experience going into this casinos and maybe shared their thoughts?

I've never had the pleasure of setting foot in this casino, but I've certainly heard some stories about it.... some good and some not so much.

One example is the fact that several chips simply started to "disappear" a few days before the casino closed.
It's hilarious to imagine that in the last days of Tropicana's operation, its customers could no longer buy US$1 and US$5 chips because several of the players were taking advantage of their last moments at the cassion to take home a souvenir.

I confess that I would do the same, after all, besides being a very important souvenir, these tokens could certainly be worth a lot of money in a few years.

It's not surprising that some players would do this. Those chips would certainly be relics that avid collectors will surely try to get their hands on. Even I would take some of those home and keep it in frames or cases to display for a long time.

From what I've seen online, Tropicana seems to be a lot more homey compared to other casinos in the Strip. However due to the changing population and demands towards gambling, they weren't able to keep up with the times and more people tend to visit the luxurious casinos like Bellagio and Wynn. They still might get some serious revenue streams from old timers, but for sure they received a huge sum in exchange of selling the casino to another party - possibly a lot higher than what they're getting from the casino alone. There'd been a lot of dreams that were made and crushed in that particular building, and for sure a lot of gamblers are sad that it had to be taken down to make way for the stadium.
90  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do casinos do with inactive accounts? on: April 19, 2024, 11:33:55 PM
Casinos typically have policies regarding inactive accounts, which may include measures such as charging dormant account fees, closing the account, or attempting to contact the account holder to encourage activity. The specific actions taken can vary depending on the casino's terms and conditions and local regulations.

I have received quite a number of emails from casino platforms offering deposit bonuses on my account just to get me back into playing with them again. These casinos are the platforms I haven't played for in more than 3 months, and there isn't a single crypto casino platform I have seen that charges inactive fee for account dormancy. Idk if it's more prevalent in fiat casinos, but with crypto casinos they are just trying to get you back into playing by offering you generous bonuses. At least, that's what my experience with crypto casinos so far.

Some casinos will outright delete your account and keep the balance.

I had created an account on wolf.bet and had a balance than by that time was small, but the coins I held in my account went up like 10x... At the time they didn't have any rules that said if you remain inactive they will delete your account. So when I had signed up there was no such rule I could have agreed with.

But years passed, and I wanted to see what my balance was worth. Now they had amended rules and even had the nerve to apply it retroactively even though I had never signed these rules. They ended up deleting my account and never even contacted me about potentially recovering my balance before doing so... It's a very scummy practice but this is one of the reasons you should never leave deposits in casinos for long.

This is why you should never leave even a single cent on your online accounts at all. These platforms can change their ToS and apply it retroactively, keeping them safe against litigations from players. I'm pretty sure these casinos are sending notifications through email regarding your account status, it's just that it's been too long and they thought you will no longer play or recover that amount given the time you were inactive in their platform. It's a scummy practice, but then again if it's under their terms--retroactive or not--they are playing it 'by the rules.'
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't Altcoin a distraction to Bitcoin adoption? on: April 19, 2024, 11:04:08 PM
To tell you the truth, a lot of people I know who's into crypto started with bitcoin only in mind. But after some time of holding bitcoins, they realized that it may not fit all of their 'needs' that's why they explored with other alts.

Even if there's only bitcoin as a sole cryptocurrency, people will always think of ways to improve on the current existing system. We will always try to fit everything with our use cases, and if it's something that doesn't fit the puzzle, we will try to create aomething that will help us achieve our goals. Altcoins are inevitable, given the nature of humans to explore and invent. Seeing that bitcoin is successful in one use case, it's only a matter of time before we encounter a blocker which leads to the development of another coin.

I'm pro bitcoin through and through but it isn't a one-size-fits-all solution to problems we never even know we have before. Altcoins, IMO, isn't a distraction, but rather a result of people looking to get the right piece to their own puzzles of problems.
92  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 19, 2024, 10:38:40 PM
He got what he deserved. If he's not performing well in a league wherein a lot of people compete to be in, then I don't think he deserves to be even there at all. He had it coming to him, and fortunately it was handed to him in a silver platter. This is similar to match fixing, and sports at the elite level don't need any of these people playing.

Dude's probably not satisfied with the paycheck he's rwceiving and the game that he's playing. I mean, he's got one of the easiest and most lucrative job in the world, why does he feel the need to throw games for a couple thousand dollars?

Then again, there are tons of people willing to sell their dignity for money, and this man right here is one of them.
93  Economy / Economics / Re: More trouble for crypto? on: April 18, 2024, 11:48:35 PM
This doesn't have to do anything with crypto, at all. It is Justin's own fault for doing those illegal activities and with it comes repercussions. I don't think it will affect crypto that much since this is a case against an individual and not directly against any organizations closely tied to crypto.

People connected to huge crypto services are not immune against the law. If they are proven doing illegal things, they deserve every sentence they get similar to normal people.
94  Economy / Economics / Re: Prioritizing strong foundation over quick gains on: April 18, 2024, 10:45:40 PM
IMO, you can focus on strong foundations and set some quick goals in order to maximize your returns. I myself am investing on meme coins and shitcoins every now and then, especially if I see that there is a potential for such and there is a community hyping the project to other people. The proceeds of what I get from these short investments directly go towards my bitcoin stash and also in bettering myself, i.e. taking certifications for a skill that I wanted to get a job on and also taking care of myself.

It is never wrong to look for quick gains and short-term investments especially if the proceeds will go towards something more important. It's like doing side quests along the way and claiming the rewards to use for your main quest.
95  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: April 18, 2024, 09:57:35 PM
The value of your friend's salary has declined, that is a fact. Even though its face value is continuously increasing due to appraisal, bonuses, and promotions, the things that can be bought with it has surely diminished over time. The prices of goods are continuously rising, and it does not match the salary increases across all economies. This is why it's important to have a hedge on what we receive for our salaries, perhaps gold, crypto, or other investments that are outperforming the inflation on our own countries.

If we're looking at 5 years, then I agree that in many countries, including mine, things are getting worse. Salaries are higher in local fiat, of course, but the purchasing power is lower than it used to be, so to improve your life, you need to be in active career growth to outrun these changes.

Even promotions no longer provide security against inflation. Unless you're promoted into an executive position, most promotions only increase your responsibilities but not the reward based on my experience. Companies no longer value their best performing employees, they just use them for their own benefit.
96  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever Projected how to spend gambling profits while the game has not played yet? on: April 18, 2024, 08:45:49 PM
This is why you don't count your chickens before they hatch. It could lead to a lot of disappointments and frustrations, especially if you have already planned to do something on your winnings. It's not uncommon for people to visualize and allocate their winnings right even before they have it on their hands. I did this before and boy it was a bad experience for me, as I was already hoping that I could something the next day should I win the bet that I placed now.

Funny how most people still have not learned from gambling lessons; they still feel like they are in control of the game, and as such, they just want every game to play the way they predict it to, which is one of the worst expectations for anyone to have and put their hope on.

At the end of the day, the odds are always stacked against us in gambling, no matter the type of game we are playing. Gambling is created as a form of entertainment to those who can afford it, and to make money to those who run it.

It’s obvious that your friend overrated himself with his too much confidence in the game, which ended the other way around. The only luck that he had was that he had not even preordered anything, hoping to pay once he cash out of the game, because that could have been a total different case here.

If I were that friend and I had pre-ordered anything, I'd definitely go into hiding and disconnect all my numbers and socials for at least two weeks after the expected delivery! It's embarrassing to pre-order something you don't have the money to pay for, especially in front of your friends for the sake of bravado Cheesy

97  Economy / Economics / Re: bots and AI on: April 17, 2024, 02:19:52 PM
People are trying to integrate and use AI for everything. If advanced AIs for coding handled by the giants in the field are failing to do a simple program, what more if the task is to create a working coin with tokenomics and all the prerequisites to make it feasible for the public to buy? The problem with AI is that it needs to be trained with the correct data set and just the right bias in order to be successful. If those data sets and biases include even a slight error, your AI will result into something that will also produce errors.

Obviously, human inputs are still needed to make sure that the AI will work properly, be it search indexing or coin creation. These things aren't ready on its own and will always need the guidance of Man to work smoothly.
98  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of eSports Betting on: April 17, 2024, 04:50:41 AM
A lot of people still don't consider esports as something serious because they are still into the mindset that traditional sports are far superior and should be the only one to bet on. Little do these people know that esports have already caught on in terms of viewership and sponsorships from huge companies, and it's only a matter of time before it becomes bigger than it is right now.

Dota 2, CS:GO, and LoL tournaments are the only recognizable esports games for a lot of people today. This is quite understandable because these games are the staple for esports for a long time. There are other games out there like Valorant and Starcraft that aren't receiving the same support because most of the money funnels into the three games above, and there isn't a huge market for the latter games just yet when it comes to esports betting. Hopefully in the near future it grows into something like the big three, but at least there is a start in the gambling scene for these games right now.

I think right now we are experiencing the fall of eSports betting rather than the rise of it. Though 2019 to now so many good players resigned, became free agents or entire teams disbanded. It's ridiculous to see that for them there is better money in streaming rather than being in a team.

The sponsors and the gaming companies have reduced the money they invest in tournaments too much. Of course now there are more tournaments but the quality has reduced drastically along with the budget and the rewards. Many tournaments these days even don't have any rewards. The golden era was around 2013 to 2018 probably

You can also blame the organizations and the tournament bodies themselves with such a decline in the esports scene. Most of them have resorted to greed, and only a small portion of the profits from these events actually go into the pockets of players. Even I as a player would surely be demotivated if this is what's happening in the scene wherein I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours just to be good at.
99  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥 HugeWin.com Presents Mega Jackpot and Bonus Deals for Casino Lovers 🔥🔥 on: April 16, 2024, 05:06:42 AM
Welcome to the community!,

I guess I want to give a small feedback on the website, first with the login, i guess there's another word suitable with your register, seems like its too long to read for newcomers in short it's just a signup. Ideally, use a universal design if possible.

Next is with the registration ideal to use a "Re-type Password" rather than having the word "Password (Again)".

The rest with the navigation panel to me is good, but the user profit i guess its quite an old design. For the deposit and withdrawal, I haven't tried yet.

This is also some of my gripes regarding Hugewin's website. During my sign-up, I was confused as to why the username field has that similar text on the top of the box. Also, for non-English speakers, the sign-up button would be confusing as they wouldn't know what kind of 'privilege' are they signing up to. It could be anything that they are not aware of, and might even deter new users from signing up.

The background of the site can also use a little bit more transparency or blur just for it to not hurt the eyes when users are scrolling. The games displayed on the front page is a lot easier to understand for common casino folks but it won't hurt to show featured games from providers at the top of the page, too.

IMO, the site needs som little tweaks here and there and it would be a cleaner, more professional-looking gambling platform--at least for me.
100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making bets with my stupid friend on: April 15, 2024, 08:29:46 PM
Ah, we sometimes do this too whenever we have something that we can't agree on, and the risked amount usually just goes towards something that we enjoy, i.e. drinks at a bar or food on the go. Idk, I never really took my friends' money when I win a bet against them, as I don't think it 'counts' as a real gamble. We just risk something in order to prove a point and that's it. Sometimes though, the conversations become a bit too much heated that bets no longer matter but rather who is right or wrong in the end.
