321  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think? Lump sum vs DCA best accumulation strategy. on: February 11, 2024, 05:45:49 PM
You cannot time or predict the markets, hence why lump sum is, IMO, not a good strategy if you want to expand your portfolio and make money work for you. You will have on set price to which you will expect it to move away from, and it becomes increasingly hard to see any potential profits to it especially if the market is performing poorly. Whereas in DCA, you get to buy the lows and avoid the highs if you'd like, though it's more time consuming than buying in one single go, you are guaranteed to always make a profit if you know how to read the markets and how to hold off your purchase depending on how the market moves.
322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you quit gambling for a friend? on: February 11, 2024, 05:21:53 PM
I may not quit but I would certainly tell him to not overdo things and just take it slow. I'll also remind him that it's better to always have some extra money for other things rather than use it on something that has a high chance to lose the money and not gain anything. There are tons of things that I can do for a friend which don't warrant me to stop doing what I need to do. He just have to see that I'm trying to help him get out of the mud that he found himself into.
323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 11:59:04 PM
Problem gambling is a continuous problem, whereas compulsive gambling is similar although there are periods wherein you don't think about gambling at all and you continue to do your regular routine. IMO, the former is more destructive than the latter because you will have no time to think about normalcy or other activities apart from gambling. You are getting sucked into a bottomless pit and the only thing that can save you from yourself are professional interventionists that, unfortunately, you will also have to pay to help you out.

Either way, if you are one of the other, you need to seek help and understand that there is something wrong with you and it's not just for fun anymore.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's stupidity to have thousands in Bitcoin using a software wallet on: February 08, 2024, 11:50:59 PM
I have a trezor that I use to store some bitcoins and also rely on software wallets (even mobile ones) to store a couple hundred to thousand $ worth of bitcoins and I haven't encountered anything wrong. Perhaps it's in the way you handle your security, as all of these wallets are prone to possible hacks. With what you stated, you only saved the logins of your account. Adding 2FA and always keeping track of your account activity is your best bet in securing such types of wallet. I'm using the same mobile wallet I used since 2015 and so far, I haven't encountered hacks or anything of that sort. Your security is only as good as how you keep it, so the problem may not be in the software or hardware but in the user all along.
325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your response in placing live bets with a friend at a live sporting matches on: February 08, 2024, 11:33:34 PM
This is why you separate your emotions from your bets. If you keep getting emotionally invested at every bet you make, you will really not make the most of it and will always be looking for reasons to justify your emotions instead of accepting this as they are, to the point that it's no longer enjoyable to watch the game you used to look forward to. For me, the best thing to do is to pick favorites but don't get so invested in them that I throw rationality out of the window just to 'defend' my team.
326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you beleive in the concept of "Luck"? on: February 08, 2024, 11:14:14 PM
Luck plays an important role in gambling, and it's one of the most elusive things to ever happen to me. I've never been lucky in most of my bets, nor have I ever been lucky to win something big in my life. Most of the bets that I won are bets that I know I worked hard on, researching a lot of things and getting every last bit of info before the lines are locked. Some hits I got are just lucky, but the returns are not as handsome compared to those who won a lot by betting on underdogs at the right match.
327  Economy / Economics / Re: A course worth studying ? on: February 08, 2024, 10:51:56 PM
A career in tech is always a good choice from a financial standpoint. With a lot of things heading towards digitization, it's a great opportunity to learn about different tech stacks and see which path is suitable for you. I wanted to break into tech a decade before I got my degree. Where I'm at, there's good money, but you have to have years upon years of experience to make huge bucks. Whereas in the tech field, be good in one stack and a lot of companies will rush at you in a moment's notice. Of course, layoffs are pretty common too, but heck, you can market yourself as a freelancer and can still make that same money or even more as a consultant!
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress? on: February 08, 2024, 10:14:25 PM
I don't track my progress, but I track the money that comes in and goes out of my wallet into my accounts. I don't think you would call losses and wins as 'progress,' as progress only means you're getting something of positive note when applied to this context in gambling. Anyhow, it's great if you have a tracker of your wins and loss and see whether you have profited for some time. If your analysis show that you are losing tons of money, then perhaps it's best to quit gambling or rethink of ways to not lose so much.
As it should be but we know that there are people who do really fail on doing such act on which they would really be just that liking on making themselves spending like a mad man specially on the time that they would
be having those consecutive winning on which they would really be molding those kind of thoughts that they could really be rich with gambling on which this is really that a wrong mindset to have towards it.

Sooner or later, they will regret not keeping track of what goes out and what goes in of their wallet. I learned this just 2 years ago, and since then I wanted to know where my money is going and what can I do to save or invest more of it instead of spending on unnecessary things. People who believe that gambling is enough to make money and be rich are delusional. Only those operators will ever get rich or richer with gambling.

Is it considered tracking when I only keep a mental note of the bets I made and losses or gains for the past week or month? I think everyone does that too whether intentional or not. To write it is something I've never done and I don't even check the history of my gambling accounts.

Better start writing it somewhere. Your memory is only reliable for a few good hours or days on these kinds of information.
329  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency impact on Economy on: February 08, 2024, 09:56:14 PM
That's a huge number of people if it's true, and for that, I'd like to ask for some data or credible sources Smiley

I know for a fact that bitcoin and crypto is becoming mainstream and known around the world, but I also know that there are only a handful of people willing to touch even with a ten-feet pole due to its high volatility. ETFs are one way to touch cryptos and make money with it, but even that is not aligning with the reasons you outlined as to why cryptocurrency is becoming a hit in these countries because you have to have some dough in order to get some bread.
330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blue card to be introduced in football. on: February 08, 2024, 07:18:49 PM
It's possible that teams will develop a strategy to force fouls and not play the freaking game just because this card is in effect. Kind of like the NBA when you're in the last minutes of the last quarter - you try to force fouls to make sure you make the most out of the last minutes of the game to widen the gap or tie the score. We will no longer see great games but rather games that are built around technicalities to make the most goals possible. Hopefully they realize that this does not add anything of value to an already great game.

332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 07, 2024, 09:26:38 PM
I'm so happy when I see GG losing games in Dota2 because personally I got tired of watching them winning last year and there are so many other skilled players and great teams who deserve a chance to win trophies as well. .

If they really are that dominant then it's understandable that they will be unbeatable for quite some time. Their meta and strategies are working pretty well, hence the dominance against other teams who are equally strong. GG's dominance is attributed to their weird plays and lineups, hence why other teams can't figure them out most of the time.
333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Pacquiao vs. Buakaw - April 20 on: February 07, 2024, 02:34:50 PM
Buakaw isn't even a boxer and is not much younger, not sure if this is a good matchup.
But Pacquiao always gives his 100% as seen in his fight against DK Yoo with no mercy even if it's an exhibition Grin Now imagine if Buakaw makes him angry... IMO the chance of Buakaw winning is slim since Muaythay is more about knee, elbow, and spinning back fist. Rooting for Pacman to win, as seen on my avatar, lol.

If it's just for exhibition purposes I think people will buy it regardless. Buakaw is excellent in muay thai, and I'm sure he knows how to handle himself. He's a defensive fighter too, so it will be natural for him to be on guard against a more aggressive Pacquiao. I'd still watch it, though, and probably bet on some other categories and not directly on the match winner as there's obviously no value in it when it comes to such exhibition matches.
334  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: February 07, 2024, 04:09:38 AM
It might not be following the exact birthday of Shuffle, but releasing a token is a ton of hard work, especially how one single screw up can burn not only them but other people who have invested on it as well. From the looks of it, they seem to be following through with their plans, and it's just not being shared with us unless everything is ironed out. Give it a week max for updates on TG and Twitter, but hopefully we receive something come Friday or Saturday for the said announcement.
Token release is very important for the token price and for the platform too.

First, it is tokenomics that needs to be well designed to help the token can maintain its price and avoid unnecessary inflation like GameFi tokens.
Second, it is security that must be very well built and tested many times by the team and even with trusted cryptocurrency audits companies. If there are bugs in smart contracts, the token will be exploited and hackers will dump it seriously.

I believe Shuffle team are building many things for SHFL TGE and delay is normal. If they already had plans for promotion, they will execute it one way or another and that time will come with us.

That is true, and so far they have been very engaging to the community when it comes to huge announcements. You can see it on Twitter and TG too. Things are better delayed than rushed, especially if the release is already robust enough to withstand possible exploits by bad actors out there. Shuffle can carry out a good release, and delays may not be what people expect but perhaps it's for the better.
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US wants to know bitcoin electricity usage in the country on: February 06, 2024, 09:13:34 PM
Let me guess, they're gonna pull another green initiative crap to justify their possible crackdown on miners. They're trying to curb whatever growth bitcoin has had in the past few months ever since the ETFs have been approved. I doubt they have pure intentions with this survey, and I do hope that miners do not give actual numbers to make data collectors lose their head.
336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you invest on this kind of offer? on: February 06, 2024, 03:56:31 PM
I'd personally go to the banks since there are guarantees that they will be returning my funds if worse comes to worst, and especially since they insure deposits up to a certain amount. Also, they offer flexible investment terms so I'd choose that as wdll. It's hard to trust random internet people offering investment schemes that don't have any guarantee to work IMO. No matter the hypothetical situation, I'll choose to be safe.
337  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor people need solution now on: February 06, 2024, 02:32:25 PM
My people in the province have lands, can sustain themselves fairly well, yet still categorized as poor by the indices proposed by organizations. They don't have much money in the bank, but their lands are worth millions and refuse to sell that because that's what they only know. They can adapt to any changes in the economy, and that's the 'poor' people I aspire to be.

When you increase in the societal ladder in terms of finances, you also increase your expenses which makes it harder for you to fill your 'needs'. These simple people from above do what they do best and are living happy lives because they have food to eat and land to farm on. They don't ask for anything else except good harvest. I guess, if you're self-sustainable, you don't need that much money and can still become 'poor' to the eyes of other people.
338  Economy / Economics / Re: COPA fights for Bitcoins true image against Craig Wright on: February 06, 2024, 07:37:38 AM
I've been seeing this issue with Craig Wright for a long time and I still don't know what they mean that he's fighting to become the owner of bitcoin but how does he exactly become one anyway? Are there like a key to the bitcoin vault that will allow him to get into the system? Or is it like we're paying him tributes or like a patent because he's claiming that he's created bitcoin and he wants compensation? I still don't get the appeal of winning this case for him, pretty sad life for a guy like him though.

This means that everything related to bitcoin will be under his own name, and that everyone must ask permission from him before they can use whatever code or snippets there are in the current bitcoin codebase. That's what my understanding of this issue and why CW is trying so hard to win this. Anyhow, he's losing an uphill battle from the looks of it, and there are still lots of serious issues lined up for him so he's fighting this battle aside from other fronts.

Hopefully this scum loses this, and then other lawsuits from other countries so he goes into hiding or be prosecuted. He contributed shit to bitcoin and didn't even get his scam coin get to mainstream because people know who he is.

I’m still not accumulating wager properly due to my hectic schedule but it will be good if Shuffle will finally launch an official countdown for the snapshot so that players especially interested airdrop receiver will be motivated to accumulate more due to target date.

Here's a snapohot announcement and check out the other announcements, I guess we're just waiting for next week.

Most likely this.

340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 05, 2024, 09:21:51 PM
If you have assessed whether the last two legs would win and come to the conclusion that it will, then I guess it's a good start on your part to know which games are winners and which are not. However, it may also lull you in a false sense of security that you can win every game. Just take it easy when it comes to these bets and for sure you'll get to win more eventually.

Congrats on the win.
