NO paypal, BTC, or Amazon payment (whatever that is)....I guess they went over their paypal limit or have been reading this thread

Indeed - note of caution - removal of payment methods is a classic...

So as I understand it people like myself and others here use paypal and Ccards to buy these miners. If scam then who is the target ? If the Paypals been removed and they don't accept btc or anything other than CC then it stands to reason the target is those purchasing with CC.

Or has anyone here been paying over the phone and we don't know about it ?

For me I think you are OK V4Vendettas since you paid CC. The possible scam is that you were a 'test' payer where they accept a few CC/paypal payments, gain feedback and trust, then switch to BTC only payments. You'd be CRAZY to send BTC direct unless they become WELL established.

For you, you have the comfort of being able to phone your credit card company and getting your money back - albeit with a pile of hassle - and no miner.

For others, the risk is that they 'buy in' based on a few success stories and lose their coins. Still could be a legit company, that website is no small effort.

Yea I had considered that an option but as far as I can see they have not accepted btc from anyone ( jump in anyone and tell us if thats not the case) .  At this stage it seems like a lot of effort to go to just to abuse the credit card information they have from us. Does not make sense unless I'm missing something.

Ofc if the next step is btc payments come on-line yea don't touch it until the rest of us actually see some hardware.

End of BITCOIN world!

No its just a massive  massive pain in the ass for gox victims. <---understatement.
84  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox user details for sale on: March 09, 2014, 08:47:28 PM
My advice for all who were involved in mtgox

change your ID/passport tomorrow!

It might cost you something but I think it's worth it!

P.S. if someone could scam this guy would be nice!

Yep its a start but I expect that only goes some of the way to sealing up the massive hole.

85  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 750 GH/s - 3TH/s Miners from $3565 - www.bitcoinultra.co.uk on: March 09, 2014, 08:33:53 PM
Yea they did not lie in the strictest sense but as you say still weaselish.

Yeah.
So far the only company that I am aware of that has always delivered "in hand" equipment is Bitmain. And they certainly are not hurting for business. I would hope that somebody with a better/bigger machne would pick up that gauntlet! Or, lacking that, Bitmain come out with a more efficient higher hashpower machine. There have been hints that they are doing so, but nothing solid that I have seen.

Yea and to think I was so close to going with Bitmain instead and you know why I did not ? I wanted to support a British company as we have nothing built on our own shores.
86  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox user details for sale on: March 09, 2014, 08:29:51 PM
So lets assume for a second that Gox recover at least something and give us back a %. We are now possibly in a  race with anyone that holds all our personal details ?

IMPORTANT!!

We are NOT accepting pre-orders!!!

Unlike other mining hardware suppliers, we won't take pre-orders on our products until we can 100% guarantee a delivery date.

News from your website:
Quote
Latest news from Bitcoin Ultra:

7th Mar 2014

The wait is over! From 16:00pm today we have opened orders to our first Enigma 1 miners, which are available on a first come first served basis. This batch of Enigma 1 is guaranteed to be dispatched from us on 31st March 2014.

You can order your Enigma hardware at http://www.bitcoinultra.co.uk/shop

WHAT IS THIS? Sorry, we are not accepting pre-orders, but please, PAY US NOW, AND RECEIVE IT IN 3.5 WEEKS!!!
LIARS.
Please be extremely careful with this, guys. Do not sent them any money, before other people receive their hardware and confirm that this is legitimate. Better safe than sorry!

Playing Devil's Advocate here. It actually says they will not open for preorders until they can guarantee a delivery time. I thought that a bit weaselish right from the beginning, but it does allow them to open a bit earlier than "in hand".

I had hoped they weren't hedging, but still, they didn't lie.

Yea they did not lie in the strictest sense but as you say still weaselish.
88  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 750 GH/s - 3TH/s Miners from $3565 - www.bitcoinultra.co.uk on: March 09, 2014, 08:19:26 PM
If I don't see evidence pictures next week going to just call my credit card company and cancel/ and or find out what loophole has been used to screw me.

While I'm at it will need to cancel the card. Got enough problems with possible identity theft from the stolen Gox data.

Chris pics or didn't happen.

So dam annoying I just want to buy a bloody miner from a real company.
89  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox user details for sale on: March 09, 2014, 08:02:41 PM
So now I have to go find a way of protecting myself from what can only be called Lifetime Gox membership.

Going to be spending a lot of time researching this because I really never expected to be at such high risk of identity theft.

Again thanks Mark its been a blast Roll Eyes
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers steal data from MtGox server and release it with Mark's reddit account. on: March 09, 2014, 07:49:55 PM
Great a life time of goxxing inbound. What a massive clusterfuck.

So identity theft aside its kind of funny you have more chance getting you account information from hackers than Gox themselves.

I honestly think Mark has effected my life in a bad way more than any other human being.

[...]

We have plenty of tinfoil conspiracy theory threads

[...]

Tinfoil, is dismissive, frankly.  What you got against tin?

Well anyway, mtgox recovery, is not a thread that can be useful, witness that you have ten of tem.  So, let this one be the "giant crime story" thread.  Because, the more laserbeam like heat you get on it, the better for the results.  Or, maybe its better just to let it go.  I guess lots of BTC holders would like to forget gox.  I guess thats also a viable idea, but the magnitude of the theft is just so bad for emerging tech that I think "SERVICE" is the whole point, meaning, exchanges need to provide better service, and part of that is all the ID stalling crap.

Everyone knows money laundering is how the world runs.  Pretending to fight it is just being a stupid tool.

Tinfoil may be interpreted as dismissive to you and you are welcome to assume I have something against them.

Speaking for myself however I honestly believe no tinfoil/aluminium Idea should be overlooked.

In my opinion it is imposibru for this thread to stay on track it is after all MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering].

If we were to stay on track it would render this thread rather dull and pointless.

example:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

0703hrs 09/03/2014

My 73 bitcoin withdraw is still delayed and withdraws are still down on the website.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yea that x 1 million is pointless.

What we can do is evolve the thread in a direction that has some meaning and worth to Gox customers hoping to recover assets and to keep up-to-date with the latest news.

We have plenty of tinfoil conspiracy theory threads and if people are interested in these its not hard for them to go read them elsewhere.

Just my 2 btc on the subject  and I don't presume to tell the internetz what to do just saying it might be nice.

95  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 750 GH/s - 3TH/s Miners from $3565 - www.bitcoinultra.co.uk on: March 09, 2014, 06:53:32 AM
Isn't waiting just the most fun! Sure its not but it can be made less uncomfortable.

Shame we only have Vaporware to look at until the 31st. Unless Chris got hit by a car/bus/meteor I really can not see what would have prevented him from posting the suggested pictures. Such a simple thing that would not only reassure customers but add credibility to the company and in turn generate more potential customers.

All we have to go on its the fact that it's a VAT registered, limited company and that we have been able to call a guy called Chris (no second name) and he seems nice and professional on the phone.

So for UK customers at least I guess we have placed our "faith" in credit card companies and UK law to protect us.

I if I could pick I would choose the pictures 1000 times over.

Still it is the weekend and no doubt they were all very very busy on Friday I guess Chris could jump in here at any time with tons of prototype/miner porn construction pics and make everyone very happy. Or he could just leave his customers in the dark.

Have to wait and see I guess.
96  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [GOX] Crime Scene Investigation, Case #MG744 on: March 08, 2014, 02:57:30 AM
Someon on Reddit made a binary tree of the coins. It's a beautiful thing, I take no credit,I just stole it.

Its so beautiful  but it makes me feel Grin Cry Honestly been waiting to start seeing the abstract art in bitcoin come to life.

I guess that's the one good thing to come from this goxxing.
97  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 750 GH/s - 3TH/s Miners from $3565 - www.bitcoinultra.co.uk on: March 08, 2014, 02:21:57 AM
Roll Eyes Yep alot of truth in that. I guess you could always go view all their posts and then make a more informed decision about the worthiness of said review.

If we ever get these I could write a review from a noob asci miners perspective and that would only serve to highlight the ease or difficulty of installation etc.

Read a bunch reviews from people that have conducted themselves well over the last few years and that might be a better indication.
98  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 750 GH/s - 3TH/s Miners from $3565 - www.bitcoinultra.co.uk on: March 08, 2014, 02:01:18 AM

I'm sure you are aware of cooling off ?

So unless you consider this product exempt It would be really nice to have these mailed to us.

The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
Exceptions to the right to cancel
13.(b) for the supply of goods or services the price of which is dependent on fluctuations in the financial market which cannot be controlled by the supplier.
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2000/2334/regulation/13/made

I would say that cover Bitcoins and their miners. Wink The only way you can get out of a contract is if they don't deliver on time or 30 days if unspecified.

I am aware (and that a company might try to exploit this loop hole) of this and to my knowledge if this ends up in court on those grounds it would be the first bitcoin case of its kind in the UK.

I also still have a right to ask what this company considers my rights are with regard to this.

Don't get me wrong I want that miner and the last thing I want is to cancel.
100  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 750 GH/s - 3TH/s Miners from $3565 - www.bitcoinultra.co.uk on: March 08, 2014, 12:41:43 AM
Its possible to come to Rotherham i live 10miles from u and colect this miner Huh

Dude you know you could make soo many people happy next week by going and seeing the place and taking pictures. Of course while your there you can work out a personal pick up as he has suggested.

@ pickaxepete

Yep I was exactly the same I have 100% faith while on the phone to him he is knowledgeable and seems competent and trustworthy. Which is exactly why I am following up everything I can and wanting to make sure I understand my rights. No one in the Bitcoin hardware industry is like this.

So too good to be true ..well you know the rest Wink

Again if its all true then I'm happy to pay these really high prices and I hope this company can stay in the game long term.
