When both solutions are bad, one has to choose the better solution even if it’s far from being perfect. Yes, making a merit/rank requirement for bounty participation will create a whole new black market of merit trading (if it doesn’t already exist...). It will probably have other unwanted effects. However, it will reduce the spam. Dramatically. I believe spam is currently by far the largest and most annoying problem in BTT. Solving it should be top priority even if new issues would arise.

You have no idea of the amount of money these shitposters make from the bounties sections. Take a look the alt accounts reporting thread in "Reputation" and you will see the shitposters who became millionaires by abusing bounties with their alts. Of course every third world beggar will come to this forum to continue this legacy and get paid handsomely in return. Who would want to do a 9-5 Job for such?

Spam is a problem for the forum but its also the job of the bounty manager to keep track of such people. Most of them (except a few) dont do their job properly.

Would it be outrageous to red-tag the bounty managers with negative feedback for showing untrustworthy behavior by accepting obvious alts and shitposters for their campaigns? I personally find this type of behavior to be untrustworthy... They are just allowing users into their campaign to maximize visibility for their products/clients, and they blatantly turn a blind eye to shitposters and copypasta to make and pay a quick buck. Not okay, in my book.

Negative feedback doesn't deter all members from dealing with that specific account, but at least it will let bounty managers know that they need to take their responsibilities more serious.

Just a thought.

It is safe to use if i'm using WEB wallets for cryptocurrencies?

Let me answer this for you: NOTHING is safe for you if you're using web wallets to store your crypto.

84  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: August 06, 2018, 05:54:34 PM
Hey @Vod, just a couple of suggestions:

1. Can you add a link in the footer to this announcement thread?
2. Can you add links to the "accolades" of a user's profile to link to the respective pages? Example: "Most Recognized" section would link to the most recognized page. "Most Merited" would link back to the merit page, etc. This would help with the userflow of your site, as there doesn't seem to be any way to access those specific rankings pages without knowing the direct link to it.

85  Economy / Digital goods / Re: 🔶 Private Method to Create a Unlimited Netflix UHD Accounts 🔶 on: August 06, 2018, 05:40:37 PM

A generated visa BIN is just fake credit card numbers with fake cvv and fake expiration date, why a fake credit card works on Netflix? well simple, since Netflix does not charge money on the first month.

But you need some money in the cc account to verify that the card is not fake, how does your method get around this ?

This is not true. I recently applied a prepaid credit card that had a zero balance on it in order to create an account. Netflix approved my account, even though there was no balance on the card. I believe that if Netflix isn't charging a card, all they are looking for are valid credit card numbers in order to approve the free trial.

I will also say that even after the trial, the account was still valid for another month while they attempted to repeatedly charge my zeroed card for payment. So, in theory, I got 4 months for free with a zeroed card.

Also check out the thread "A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin." by @pugman and @bill gator. They've done an amazing job at asking beginner questions about Bitcoin and allowing the community to answer them. Go through the questions and answers there, and you can learn the basics of Bitcoin in simple terms. A lot of the books you'll find about Bitcoin might be a bit technical, so it's best to start with simplified knowledge about it, and that thread, in my opinion, is the perfect starting point.
87  Other / Meta / Re: Is this a copy/paster? on: August 04, 2018, 04:36:27 AM
If we report these posts, will they be deleted and the user eventually banned? I reported a user the other day that spun an article and posted it here as his own, but I have yet to see any action against the user or the post.

I know that plagiarists are swiftly dealt with, but what about article spinners? How should we report them?
88  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Marginal trading on: August 04, 2018, 03:30:00 AM
Try moving this thread to the Trading Discussion board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0

You'll have better luck getting an answer there.

Furthermore, you may discover that a search can give you the answer that you're looking for. Here's a result that I think you might find helpful: Margin trading tutorial?

Good luck!
89  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying 5 Star Ebay Feedback on: August 04, 2018, 03:24:39 AM
No. This is shady business and deemed highly untrustworthy. You can do whatever you like here, but please know that if you continue this feedback manipulation, I will be leaving you (and whoever you pay for this) a negative feedback here.
90  Other / Meta / Re: Wrong entry for [Suspicious link removed] <- not a phishing link on: August 04, 2018, 01:31:42 AM
Speaking of parsing out malicious/suspicious links, I feel like www.bitcoin.com should be parsed by default for all users. To me, that site is more malicious than any ponzi/hyip/doubler just sayin'

I know that the response is going to be along the lines of not wanting to censor anything here, or that if that link is parsed out, we lose the decentralized nature of these forums, but in all seriousness, fuck those bcash guys. The worst thing that's happened to Bitcoin.
91  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Copy and paste? No longer need! on: August 04, 2018, 01:17:57 AM
As much as I hate bounty campaign spammers, I'm going to suggest that you edit your title to say something like "Copy and paste for bounty campaigns?..."

There's quite a bit of banning of copypasta makers and plagiarists on the forum lately.

Additionally, if someone needs all this software and scripts to join bounty campaigns here, then that just tells me that there's that much more spam that's being contributed. You really can't take the few seconds it takes to copy and paste a url or uid? Really?

Ugh.
92  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HELP! LOST OVER $11,000 IN BITCOINS! on: August 04, 2018, 01:05:19 AM
It was a desktop wallet and I created my website with this script I found https://selly.gg/p/-snip-

There's your problem. You got phished by the author of the script. Be careful in this crypto space; there is a huge cesspool of bad/malicious actors who don't care about you; just your money.

Unfortunately, your bitcoins are long gone. Multiple hops later, the majority of them are now sitting in this wallet: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/16tdVAB3XkZQDyQSjRN45x8y6YAGGXJ5zE

Consider this an expensive lesson. NEVER use a script from an autobuy link unless you fully trust the developer.
93  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Thinking of Starting A Review Site on: August 04, 2018, 01:03:36 AM
If you're looking to make money with a review site, there are only a few ways you can do so, theoretically speaking.

First, by advertising on your site. When you're new, you won't be able to charge advertisers a lot of money upfront to advertise banners on your site, so you'll have to find an ad network that will allow your new site to host banners. Google isn't very crypto-friendly, so you can pretty much forget about that option. There are many crypto ad networks, but the best ones require you to have meet a certain Alexa rank/threshold to become approved on their network. The other ones that will allow your site? Chances are that they won't pay you, or that you'll make very little profit.

After you build up your viewership (and trust) and page rank, you can hit some of the bigger crypto ad networks. But unless you're brining in big numbers, you'll only end up making a few bucks of profit a month.

The next way you can earn is by becoming a reputable review site that advertisers want to be featured on. For example, if you're reviewing web hosts, one of them might just throw some cash your way to be featured at the top of the page that hosts your reviews for all the different sites out there. Unfortunately, companies won't offer you this kind of deal unless you can prove that you're getting good traffic on that page/your website.

The third way is by creating your OWN ads for sites and services that offer a commission... In essence, you'll be using your referral link for other sites and hosting ads on your own. Again, you'll only end up making a few bucks a month from this, UNLESS you can refer a high volume of users. Sites that offer commissions and referrals? Faucets and PTC (Paid To Click)/GPT (Get Paid To) sites. In my prime, I was making a few thousand dollars a month from about 4,000 referrals from these types of sites. Pennies do add up when you have an army of thousands earning them for you. Stay away from ponzis.

If you're a great writer and understand basic marketing, you can come a long way with a review site, but you're going to HAVE to prove your authority, as well as put a lot of time and effort into it before you'll start to see returns and profit.

Are you skilled in web development, front end development, and backend development? You're going to have to build a team to run your site, unless you have the knowledge to run your own. A good start would be to use WordPress as a CMS and buy plugins that let you run review scripts, as well as user management.

Good luck in your endeavors!
94  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] - Virtual Phone Number on: August 04, 2018, 12:52:26 AM
If you have a smartphone, check out Talkatone. You can create your own phone number and use it (over WiFi/internet) to make and receive calls for free. Only works on mobile, but as long as you use the number that's assigned to you at least once a month, you'll be able to keep the same number.

The provided number also works for text messaging, as well.
95  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: August 04, 2018, 12:49:06 AM
Hoping I'm not repeating anyone's suggestion here, went through a few pages, but being honest I didn't read the full thread. How about a sniffer dog, with the colour changing as the number of reports rises? Not entirely sold on the colours, but could change them to anything.

 300 reports

 1000 reports

 5000 reports

I thought those were fish (like Magikarp from Pokemon lol) when I first saw the icons before I read that they were sniffer dogs. Icons that are designed to be so small need to be extremely easy to recognize. Unfortunately, yours are not, mate.
96  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HELP! LOST OVER $11,000 IN BITCOINS! on: August 04, 2018, 12:47:08 AM
How did you generate a new wallet? Which wallet did you use? Did you create a vanity gen online? What kind of website are you hosting, and did you use a plugin to withdraw your bitcoins? Did you use someone else's script to run on your website? Sounds like you got phished somehow, most likely from malicious code you used on your site.

It's probably too late to bump the transaction with a new one with a higher fee, but it might be worth a shot if you can do it immediately.
97  Other / Meta / Re: Most new accounts do not contribute anything on: August 04, 2018, 12:43:26 AM
Finding posts that have used text spinners are hard, and its only possible if someone reads the entire mega thread with a shitload of shitposts.  Undecided They are handled only if they are reported.

I find plagiarism easier to deal with that pure one line shitposting

Pick a megathread in the altcoin discussion, just search for the matching text on the last 3-4 pages, report 10 or so copy-pasters till you feel you're going to get dumb just from reading that much crap, and then enjoy a beer while refreshing the modlog to see them getting banned Smiley

God...what the hell I'm doing with my life    Huh Grin

You're helping the forums, that's what.

I just recently learned about the modlog, so I'll be doing the same thing as you moving forward. The shit we geek out on on these forums... I guess it just means that we care Smiley
98  Other / Meta / Re: bitmover Merit Source Application - and thoughts on Brazilian Bitcoin Community on: August 03, 2018, 08:15:30 PM
I'd like to endorse @bitmover to be a merit source, as well. Based on their post history, as well as their selection of posts that have been merited, they seem to have a great understanding of how the merit system operates on the forums.

Good luck, bitmover!

Bump for you, @bitmover.

We still need more merit sources on the forums, @theymos. Where you at?? Let's git 'er done!
