921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction Tracking with Clustering on: January 10, 2018, 07:08:09 AM
I can imagine that BitFury will be working with governmental agencies like the FBI and the NSA and IRS to provide their data findings for suspected or known criminals. This is now a watchdog company? Tsk tsk.

Wouldn't the use of mixers provide more privacy and help eliminate output trails and put up a huge privacy wall for trackable transactions? And change addresses are extremely common in wallets nowadays.

In a way, this news doesn't bother me because I have nothing to hide with my involvement and endorsement of Bitcoin, but I am no longer a fan of BitFury for being the company that has decided to research and cluster these known addresses... This type of service and technology is going to be sought after by 3-letter agencies, and I'm not confident that BitFury will remain confidential regarding this matter... *le sigh*
922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Transaction unconfirmed for 4 days with a high fee! on: January 10, 2018, 06:58:37 AM
The only thing you can do other than waiting is to try use some Free Transactions Accelerator from Services board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0
I usually advice to use the ViaBTC accelerator, but nowdays I just can't accelerate any transaction with them, despite of I'm looking at the clock to press the button at the very first second... It seems that too many of the bitcoin users are trying to get one of the 100 free spots, so I'm a bit confused what to do now... As a very last solution, I can use a paid accelerator service, I know, but I'm still not in a hurry with my own transaction, so I'm still trying ViaBTC.
I had a look at the free accelerators in the services section, maybe they worth a try

Last I heard, they disabled their free accelerator for the time-being due to a high volume of spammers. Edit: ah, it seems that the service is back online, but just overloaded at the top of every hour

Hey everyone,

A few days ago I did a transaction worth around 100 euros with a fairly high fee ($11) it's still not confirmed I've never experienced something like this before I don't really care to much since it's a small amount but still if this were to happen with a big transaction...

I used to cash out virtual items from games such as CS:GO etc.. to bitcoins and then sell it for real money, I've did this for over 3 years now and I quit doing it because I can't trust bitcoin anymore any of you have bad experiences with bitcoin aswell? let me know i'm interested!

If someone knows what's going on i'd like to hear it thanks in advance!

BTC Transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/1134ce65bf60bdd4a785526bee962b1c137b173efa68bab1baaecb46ec3b5762

That is not a high transaction fee. The currently recommended fee is over 400 sat/byte, and your transaction only has a fee of 110 sat/byte, which is well below the recommended fee. You're going to have to continue rebroadcasting your transaction ID, or have to pay for an acceleration service that can guarantee to include your transaction in their mining pool within the upcoming blocks. Premium services are pretty expensive, so you may have to spend quite a bit to accelerate this transaction. Next time, be cautious about how you pay the fee. It's not based on the dollar amount, it's based on the satoshi amount per byte of data.
923  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ FREE Google ReCaptcha2 Solver ★☆★ on: January 10, 2018, 06:54:38 AM
You do understand that captcha solving promotions are frowned upon here, right?

Additionally, you're promoting a FREE captcha solving service that you have to pay for? Do you not see the irony in that? Now this is false advertising. I'd recommend you change the verbiage of your post and your title before you get another negative trust; it's very scammy the way you operate. Just sayin'
924  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: blockchain for insurance domain on: January 10, 2018, 06:49:23 AM
Have you checked out InsurePal? It's a distributed social-proof insurance company that uses the blockchain to social-proof a peer-to-peer insurance platform. They're getting ready to launch... Is this similar to what you're inquiring about?

Check them out here: https://insurepal.io/

926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon regrets calling Bitcoin a fraud on: January 09, 2018, 01:27:17 PM
JPMorgan Chase Chairman & CEO Jamie Dimon said Tuesday he regrets past comments in which he called Bitcoin a fraud at a September banking conference.

At the time, Dimon said that he would fire JPMorgan traders if they traded in the crypto-currency.

Quote
The blockchain is real. You can have crypto yen and dollars and stuff like that. ICO's you have to look at individually”, Dimon said in an exclusive interview with FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo. “The bitcoin to me was always what the governments are gonna feel about bitcoin as it gets really big, and I just have a different opinion than other people. I'm not interested that much in the subject at all.

Source: http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2018/01/09/exclusive-jpmorgan-chase-chairman-ceo-jamie-dimon-regrets-saying-bitcoin-is-fraud-but-still-isnt-interested-in-it.html

The article itself sucks, but the video is worth a watch.

In my opinion, Dimon, for being a financial 'expert', is quite ignorant. He's expressed much disinterest in Bitcoin, saying that he doesn't care about it at all, but I think it's that very ignorance that led him to believe that Bitcoin was a fraud and that it would fail. He is now suffering from "foot in mouth" disease, and I'm sure there's more to come in the near future.

Are these for the U.S. store? If so, I'd like to buy them all using Bitcoin; do you still have all 10 available? If so, please message me so that I can send you payment; I'll go first, as you have a great Trust score. Let me know, thanks!

How often do you get cards, or is this a one-time deal?

930  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FROM THE HUGE FEES I ALMOST LOST 200€ ΙΝ SIMPLE TRANSACTIONS - HELP on: January 09, 2018, 09:21:38 AM
Start by using a SegWit-enabled wallet. While this won't reduce the fees back to what you're used to from 3 years ago, SegWit transactions are currently the best way to reduce your transaction fees. FYI, even if sending a transaction from a SegWit-enabled address to a non-SegWit address, it is still considered a SegWit transaction.

Start by using the GreenAddress wallet: https://greenaddress.it/en/ and move your Bitcoin to it.
931  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 232 on: January 09, 2018, 09:18:01 AM
Theymos, would this be a valid entry for an ad banner?  http://fozy.altervista.org/banner.html
Id hate to bid and not have a valid entry, thanks!

That whole ad is a banner image; I doubt that it would be accepted as valid file here. The good news is that you could hire someone here to make that an HTML/CSS ad that would look fairly similar to your ad, except for the circular logo at the left of the ad. Occasionally, small logos are accepted, such as the current Stake.com logo, so yours might be accepted, as well.

Images are not allowed no matter how they are created (CSS, SVG, or data URI). Occasionally I will make an exception for small logos and such, but you must get pre-approval from me first.
932  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for business partner who can code websites... on: January 09, 2018, 08:48:50 AM
Hey OP, just an FYI, it sounds like you're looking for more than a coder. You need a programmer or developer that will be able to write the proper languages to code the plugins/widgets that you need for datamining. I doubt that there are any open-source plugins available for the type of work that you're looking for, but I would recommend looking at WordPress as an option for a Content Management System for your website.

I'd also recommend checking out xbtfreelancer.com for some developers; I've had a decent amount of success hiring freelancers from the website, but just make sure to be thorough with your questioning there. If you need additional guidance, feel free to send me a PM; I can help you write a list of things you'll need to hire the right candidate and hopefully point you in the right direction.

Cheers!
933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Guru says BTC and BCH going to 10k then 50k on: January 09, 2018, 07:27:00 AM
It not a new, and also it is very predictable  that bitcoin  will  follow  his growth. a lot of guru predict  50 000 (at least in the nearest future)

Yes of course, but bitcoin cash to ten thousand dollars? It is not going to happen.

The only one who can really hype bitcoin cash is Roger Ver and his friends ,no one likes bitcoin cash.

I am not a fan of BCH, and will never support it, but you're a fool if you think that it will never hit $10,000. So many people said that it would never even hit $500. It did, immediately. Then the same people said it wouldn't amass $1,000. It did. Then $2,000. Yes, it hit $4,000+ and has started to fall again, but Bitcoin did the same thing. Now that BCH is sitting at around $2,000, it's kind of funny to see and hear less and less from the naysayers, but rather see the market cap and trade volume hovering higher than its launch. What's happening is the network effect, and more coins than just BCH spiked just before and during the holidays. I would say that the current decrease is FAR from being a shakeout, and I do feel that it will increase again in the near future. But that's just my personal opinion.

I just wanted to bring this up to say that just because you don't believe in something, or have any interest in it, is not a valid reason to FUD it, just like you have done.
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee: The Spokesperson for Cryptocurrency? on: January 09, 2018, 07:19:17 AM
A bit unrelated, but John McAfee used to live less than a mile from me on the island that I have moved to here in Belize. I've met with him on multiple occasions, and one of his ex-girlfriends is a close friend of mine. He was a loose cannon here, and is STILL wanted as a person of interest in a murder that happened here, which is why he will never return to Belize. He really is off his rockers, and since I have that personal knowledge of how he acts, I will never trust him. He is only in the crypto business for personal gain; he doesn't believe half the shit he says, I'm sure.

A little known fact about McAfee. He's almost broke. He invested in many businesses here in Belize, including a laboratory to make antibiotics and holistic pharmaceuticals, and from what the rumor mill has said about him while he was here, he was quickly spending his "fortune". He is definitely not worth as much as the general public perceives him to be worth... Even with the crypto spikes, I cannot imagine that he had enough sense to invest a lot in crypto as an early adopter.

If I had to guess, he probably picked up a few bitcoins at around the $2,500 price point... I have never heard him talk about bitcoin while he was living in Belize.

He is definitely not the unofficial spokesperson for crypto, and if anyone believes that he is? Well, I'm sorry, but he will let you down one day.

John McAfee is just an over-glorified shiller for Bitcoin. Take his "advice" and predictions at face value.
935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why China banning bitcoin mining isn't a bad thing - look at the bright side on: January 09, 2018, 06:51:41 AM
If this news is, in fact, valid, then this is the first step in returning Bitcoin to a truer decentralized currency. I'm curious to see the responses of some of our Legendary members respond to this news. But for me, I believe that the price of Bitcoin will spike. There could be some concern about transactions taking longer to confirm, but 7-10 transactions per second seems pretty capped to me at the moment anyways.

Russia will undoubtedly step in with mining companies now, but I'm really curious to see how this will affect the longevity of Bitcoin.

I do agree with @richardsNY about being excited about being free from the tyranny of Chinese miners. I wonder if mining pools will become more prevalent with the drop of Chinese miners...
936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we really need Bitcoin? on: January 08, 2018, 03:30:06 AM
Bitcoin is not just about the pumps and inflation and profits for me. I have a huge problem with banks and centralized currency structures. I don't like that an organization can dictate how my hard-earned money is used, and that it's often used to create 10x the value in the forms of loans. And most importantly, I HATE that fiat banks operate utilizing a private ledger. Banks are rarely held accountable, and as many restrictions and guidelines are required to operate a bank, if everyone were to cash in their notes and balances at one time, there is absolutely no way that these banks are holding enough liquid assets to cover the ledger that they're holding for the entirety of its customers.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, on the other hand, is decentralized and operate on a public ledger. The payments and transactions operate (for the most part) on a P2P (peer-to-peer) basis, and doesn't require a centralized organization to share the currency. Every transaction is recorded publicly. You cannot duplicate a Bitcoin, and you cannot create a loan value of 10x (like the banks do) because of the nature of the technology behind it.

So when you ask why we really need Bitcoin... It's because we need it to pave the way for the future of currency. In the near future the majority of currency will officially become digital (most of it currently is already, just not "officially"), and the blockchain will be at the forefront of technology when it comes to how our future digital currency is created. Bitcoin itself may not be the future, but the technology behind it is enough to advance and correct the very discrepancies that we have with our current fiat currencies.
937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ☘☘☘ Futures Will Increase The Volatility Of Bitcoin ☘☘☘ on: January 08, 2018, 03:20:36 AM
As long as we are alive, we must make our future and cryptocurrency better. Because we do not know what will happen to the world of crypto, and must prepare all possibilities to face the unwanted. Because of our sustenance in the world of trading takes precision.

yes, I agree with your opinion that in the future bitcoin will continue to rise, and it will suilit to buy, besides that also sometimes bitcoin high prices can make the system uncontrolled so that the difficulty of profit making transactions and trading.
but I am sure that the bitcoin in the future will adjust with the times so it will be able to maintain the system

Bitcon will be more famous like any currency in the whole world but the thing is are you ready if the currency still big or small. This one just a 10% possibility if the bitcoin going to small price in the future.

Bitcon will be more famous like any currency in the whole world but the thing is are you ready if the currency still big or small. This one just a 10% possibility if the bitcoin going to small price in the future.

Still there is a possibility that it will really dump hard but i think it will happen in the future . There is nothing last forever they said , there will be the time that the bitcoin will be dead but before it will be dead im pretty sure that there will be new coin  that will replace its place. But for now we need to look forward to earn more bitcoin because also in the future it could be our future money , it would be our  money sort of cashless society they said.

We cannot really conclude today what will be the future of bitcoins. But all the ideas I read over there matters and are senseful. If all people will use bitcoin, as for payment or for investing, then it have an effect to the volatility of bitcoins in the future. Stock market thingy! All we can do is to have high hopes that bitcoin will prevail in the future.

We don't know how the future works to bitcoin unless if it stable right now. So we need to take a risk on what will happens to bitcoin, for those who wants to earn then make a trust and risk to bitcoin. As what you've wrote, bitcoin is the the most volatile asset and we can't configure its price. The best thing we will do is to keep up on supporting and holding bitcoin but do not always rely on what we've in bitcoin's price because someday maybe it will pop up like a bubble. Be wise but don't be afraid to lose.

Considering the rapid growth of bitcoin definitely bitcoin has a very bright future.
Its growth rates and number of users have increased rapid ly in past couple of years.
But i think that someday there will be definitely a downfall of bitcoin as,
Mining it requires a lot of energy causing a lot of environmental degradation.

First of all, you guys need to shut the fuck up with your spam. Read the damn post. This is brilliant. Bookmarked. I'll provide some more feedback as I use it more and more, but do you plan on adding more altcoins to it? And when do you plan on releasing a beta release for mobile devices? And lastly, do you plan on creating a widget or code that we can use to implement this on our own websites?

This beats having to do manual conversions, so thank you for this Smiley
939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has called the digital currency a "fraud" on: January 07, 2018, 09:06:43 AM
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has called the digital currency a "fraud" and said people who invest in it are "stupid."
Why He Say This Huh Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Because he didn't profit from the cryptocurrency, he was just a stupid guy who was trying to short the market. Angry

What's funny is that the Winklevoss twins challenged Jamie Dimon to short BTC if he truly feels that it's a fraud. It hasn't been done (more than likely due to speculation that it's) because Dimon probably doesn't truly feel that Bitcoin will fail.

Quote
Tyler called the JPMorgan Chase CEO’s criticism of bitcoin “cheap” and added, “We encourage Jamie Dimon, we encourage him to personally bet against it, bitcoin, take J.P. Morgan's balance sheet, bet against bitcoin.  We'll see what happens.”

940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins scaling issue on: January 07, 2018, 08:54:45 AM
Pardon me but I don't think LN is a true scaling solution since you still need to entrust your funds into a third-party (which will include a fee for transfers, still) before confirming the transaction off-chain and sending the funds to its destination. Even if LN is deployed, I don't think it would be a sufficient--or effective--scaling solution in the long run since it will be clogged after only several days of deployment and that's for sure. SegWit proved to be an inefficient scaling solution for the growing needs of people even though the proposal seemed to be good.

This is exactly what I came here to say. In theory, LN would offset so much load from the blockchain, but requires a centralized method in order to do so. We have to put our trust and faith in a 3rd-party, and one that will have enough capital to back everyone's transactions off-chain. And what kind of institutions have this type of capital? Banks. I don't trust banks, and neither do many individuals that trade crypto. LN removes the P2P aspect of what makes Bitcoin so popular.

As for Segwit, it's already here, and it seems to have helped offset transaction fees after its adoption. You can download a segwit-enabled wallet if you want to do your part in slowly reducing transaction fees across the network. Green Address seems to be the most trusted amongst segwit proponents in my observations. You can learn more about Green Address here: https://greenaddress.it/en/
