801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Loaded moves 40 000 Bitcoins to a SegWit Address on: January 28, 2018, 02:17:54 AM
Move along, folks. Nothing to see here. Just moving $450,000,000 on the blockchain for a total fee of $1. :O

Holy crap, this is great news for Bitcoin! SegWit adoption is real, folks!

I will say that I really wish that Blockchain.info will implement SegWit. With a whole new rise in SW adoption, their blockchain explorer is starting to display more "decoding" errors.

And if anyone is interesting in joining the SegWit movement, go and get yourself a SW-enabled wallet. Don't know where to start? Here you go: https://greenaddress.it/
802  Other / Meta / Re: Members screwed by Merit, sign here for fix. on: January 28, 2018, 02:13:22 AM
I thought theymos adjusted some things. Did I understood this wrong??

I decided that the previous allocation was too unfair in this area, so everyone with activity >= 775 got 500 more merit if they didn't already have 1000 merit (and also Lutpin). No extra sMerit, though.

And according to this thread, The forthnightly periods are 1/16, 1/30 and so on
^
my activity raised by post....

Let's see the response of more people touched. I'm not going to argue with anyone here, let the admin decide.

Let the admin decide what, exactly? For you to get your other 500 internet points? Why are you making such a big deal about this lol

I'm almost in the same situation as you, except I have a few more months until I am eligible for Legendary. Here's the major difference: I'm not worried about my merit. I could give one fuck less about fake clams so that I can rank up; that's not where my focus lies. My focus lies on trying to curate and create and contribute to great discussions about bitcoin, crypto and its technology here, and I know that in doing so, my merits count will go up naturally and organically.

It's been days and days of nothing but bitching about the merit system. I know I can't be the only one who actually doesn't care one way or the other about it? I give my fake points to posts that I feel are constructive and contributing, and the same happens for me. Not a big deal, but it truly perplexes me how something as simple as these internet points are the focus of dozens and dozens of conversation, and hundreds of whiny members. Yeah, it's controversial, but I feel that honestly, if your intentions as a user were for the best interest of the forums, you wouldn't care so much about how this merit system slows down your progress... progress of what, exactly?

803  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Finally proof that OG is running a ponzi.... on: January 28, 2018, 02:03:40 AM
You guys really need to get a life.  I get so tired of stating the below.

<snip bunch of bullshit crap as always>

Liar. What's new. Who's paying for your swimming pool maintenance, or your electricity at your home? Who paid for your solar panels? (I know, why can't you explain it??)

You literally don't address anything - You just spew your "alternative facts"... Are you Donald Fucking Trump, or KellyAnn Conjob? Huh

Anyhow, start addressing the questions above and maybe you'll tread your way out of the mess you have dug yourself into.

 Tongue

I can prove he abuses the trust system.

What's to prove? Look at the rating he left me a month ago... Cheesy

It's actually much worst than any damage he has done to a single user.

OgNasty joined this forum: June 04, 2011, 08:23:23 PM

As of July 2016, he had literally ZERO negative trusts sent or received - trusted or untrusted.  From 2011 until Summer 2016, he bullied anyone and everyone who dared leave him negative trust into removing it. He didn't even leave negative trust for the people who ran ponzi schemes that he convinced other people to invest in. Then he got some neg trust that he couldn't bully away - since then he seems to have gone from "let me use my status to preserve my 'perfect record' " to "it's open season on these bitches"

I'd love to share more details, can dig up tons of links and screenshots if anyones interested.

Considering that this is a Scam Accusation thread against OgNasty, I'm actually interested. I've seen him post around the forums, but have never run into the whole NastyPool offering that this topic was started about, but I have to say that I've been exploring his post history and trust history and their references, and holy hell. I feel like I'm in high school all over again Cheesy

I hope OG doesn't red tag me for posting this, but as an outsider with a 3rd party point of view, I'm more inclined to believe that anything related to NastyFans is a sham without any real services or products that benefit a user from joining. EVERYTHING about it screams ponzi, which is okay as long as the person entering the pool/club/charity understand that what they're "donating" to is, in fact, a ponzi that relies on the promotions and dedicated work of its members (bringing in more members) to be able to realize a "return" on their "donation". I don't know when this became so convoluted, but I had to take a break on page 51 of the NastyFans thread. I'll get back to finishing it later so I could provide some more of my input, but my oh my... what an interesting read so far.

You guys really need to get a life.  I get so tired of stating the below.

1) I don't run NastyFans.
2) I buy seats and am a regular member like everyone else (I just bought 25 more yesterday).

-snip-

This is just my opinion, but that's exactly like my position in an offshore corporation that I am a part of. I don't own the corporation; I'm just a board member of the corporation, but I do get this nifty little plastic card that allows me to make purchases and I'm also allowed to send emails and make phone calls with people regarding the best interest of said corporation. But I don't own it, nor do I run it. I'm just a regular ol' member of the corporation. Just sayin'.
804  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Nitrogen sports will pay you for making a tattoo! on: January 28, 2018, 01:42:31 AM
The things that people will do for a thousand bucks...

The great thing about this is that there is no requirement of bodily placement set by the challenger, and the size has to be just a minimum of a US-sized quarter. I have a friend that got a MySpace logo tattoo for a hundred bucks on his arm. He stated that he didn't care because he actually enjoyed MySpace and that it was going to be around forever... I wonder what he covered up the tattoo with haha.

But this Nitrogen Sports "promo" (if you will) is pretty ingenious! I can't wait to see the videos that are procured from this challenge, and honestly, it was enough to get me to sign up for an account on the site just so I can follow the chat there... so obviously, it's working lol.

OP, maybe you should tell N [2] to officially open an announcement thread here for a bounty so that we can all follow the progress Tongue
805  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Youtube Channel, DEEP Mine -- First Video "But Why Do We Need Bitcoin???" on: January 28, 2018, 01:28:17 AM
Great idea in theory, but if I may be honest, there are so many other channels and providers of Bitcoin videos that are produced more beautifully than this. I find that if creating a new form of video, it needs to be just as clear or even better than existing videos. Otherwise, it just provides to the clutter of the sea of existing videos already. I already understand Bitcoin and blockchain technology, but when I find a new video that I find will be great in supporting Bitcoin, I watch it until the end. I found myself skipping through your video, and not watching it in its entirety before I closed the window.

If I may be even more honest, your video was boring. Text on a chalk background isn't interesting by any means. There's no B-roll, and not even stock images in your "video". It's obvious that English is not your first language, as can be seen in your typographical errors and grammatical errors in your dialogue.

Sorry to be tough on you, but in my opinion, you're just cluttering the already existing videos out there that already explain what Bitcoin and the Blockchain are. Sorry, man, but I'm just trying to keep it real and be honest.
806  Economy / Digital goods / Re: 🔥5$🔥 ✔️Photoshop + After Effects Incl. More Adobe Apps✔️🔥5$🔥 on: January 28, 2018, 01:14:26 AM
Hey up.

Do you get stock photo's with this as well?

Yes Smiley

If you're able to get stock images from Adobe Stock, I'd like to know how. I've tried to get several images from the service, and this is the message that pops up for me:

I am signed in using the account that you have created for me. I am trying to download the images and add them to my library from https://stock.adobe.com.

For the record, when signed into my own personal account that I am personally paying for, I have no issues adding any of the images to my library.

Please advise! Thanks!
807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting article on Wired about matching Bitcoin transactions to real people on: January 28, 2018, 01:03:28 AM
That's the beauty of having a public ledger. You can track any payment and any transaction, which provides to complete transparency for the cryptocurrency as a whole. The downfall, if you want to call it that, is that your movements are also able to be tracked, and anyone can view your balance and transactions at any given time... BUT, times have changed so much for the Bitcoin industry since the Silk Road days. We now have easier access to utilize change addresses, which are wallets that will enable the use of multiple receiving addresses that all contribute to the same pool of coins on the users' ends. We could mix our coins using mixers to ensure that you have a fresh private key and bitcoin address which makes the tracking of inputs for your bitcoin virtually untraceable.

I feel like people who get caught for using Bitcoin for illegal activities, or even small discrepancies like having multiple accounts on bctalk for the sole purpose of gaming bounty campaigns, are idiots who understand absolutely nothing about privacy.
808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: google authenticator on: January 28, 2018, 12:58:31 AM
Google authentificator is the best and secure way to protect your depo at the present time. Very important to save back up code.

For reference and clarification for anyone reading this, @IldarW is referencing your backup codes/seeds for each of the sites that you use Authenticator for, not the backup code for Authenticator itself. Google doesn't offer a backup/restore for your Authenticator account. While some people view this as a security feature, I view it as a nuisance. If you lose your device, or if your device crashes, you are out of luck when it comes to restoring the sites that you use Authenticator for.

There are still a good percentage of sites who offer 2FA who do NOT give you an option to backup your seed. This means that you would have to fully rely on Google Authenticator, and that you trust yourself not to lose your device, trust others to not steal your device. If you ever lose access to your Google Authenticator, you are shit out of luck with any of the sites that require 2FA logins where you didn't backup your private seeds/keys.

I'd also like to inform you guys of an incident that happened to me recently: I upgraded my phone, and backed up my old device. I restored the data to my new phone. I thought the settings for Authenticator would port over, and that's when I realized that there is no way to transfer your 2FA to YOUR OWN new device from your own former device.

Yes, Authy is less secure than GA, but much more convenient. And as long as you keep your master password different than any other password you use, and follow strict recommendations of what types of passwords to use to create your master account, you'll be fine. And you're free to authorize other devices to use your account, as well as able to easily backup and restore all of your private seeds.
809  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Files.Guru - | Earn 40$/10K! | Unlimited Speed | Adult Allowed! on: January 28, 2018, 12:50:47 AM
10k for 5$ that quite low. if u compare to ad revenue (usualy links) which they pay 1$ per 1k PPV

I'm not sure how familiar you are with conventional advertising via providers like Google, vs. crypto advertising, but the payments and rewards for ads are generally lower for crypto demographics than regular advertising. It all stems back to the quality of advertisers competing with each other for the best spots. Given that most reputable sources and sites use conventional advertising for their marketing, sites that may not have such a large budget as them, or sites that are less reputable resort to ad platforms that operate using crypto. That's why the value and rewards for serving ad impressions will always be less on crytpo platforms than fiat ones, and always will be until you get major contenders bidding on ad space on these crypto platforms.
810  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Looking for 0.01 btc for PayPal on: January 27, 2018, 09:55:06 PM
I may be willing to help, but for purposes of transparency, why was your password reset recently for this two year old account? Why are there so many gaps in your post history? That’s the most troublesome part about this whole exchange request.

Is your PayPal verified? Are you willing to verify yourself by providing a selfie holding up an ID and a piece of paper with your bctalk username written on it? Are you willing to send payment as “Friends or Family”? And are you willing to pay +3% preev prices for the bitcoin? If so, then I’ll consider conducting this deal with you.
811  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Finally proof that OG is running a ponzi.... on: January 27, 2018, 09:49:14 PM
Just the fact that he states that more seats are needed in order to make anything from the club... and the fact that the term “ROI” was used screams ponzi in itself. IMO, it sounds clear as day, but to OG, it’s as if he’s already drank the koolaid.

This reminds me of MLM and networking companies, but what is the service offered here? Is it pool mining? Is there an actual sustainable product? Because without one, then yes, this is clearly a ponzi.

You’re a Hero Member, and you’re posting shit like this? Come on, you’ve been around here long enough to know that nobody can predict the upcoming prices of what bitcoin will be worth... nobody has a crystal ball that can accurately predict future costs.

If you truly believe what your friend has to say, I will gladly offer you $5,000 per coin right now to take them off your hands for you.

And as @secondgarlic stated, there are only 28 days in February this year. Tell your friend to go fuck himself lol. And stop contributing to fud like this man. Common sense should have been a factor before you decided to start this thread...
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You can actually buy a lot of things with Bitcoin on: January 27, 2018, 09:32:25 PM
I laugh when people say that spending Bitcoin is not economical or possible due to high transaction fees or scaling issues.  This week, especially, as transaction fees have been surprisingly lower than weeks past.

I, personally, use Bitcoin to buy plenty of things. I pay my rent in Bitcoin. I top up my phone credit using bitcoin via bitrefill. There are a couple of restaurants here on this tiny little island that I live on that accepts bitcoin. I buy online digital goods with bitcoin. And mind you, some of these transactions are under $20. Personally, I don’t mind spending a transaction fee (lately) for my purchases, as they have been pretty low.
Laugh at people who think bitcoin is not economical? Nope. Laugh at people who are stupid idiots and don't believe in Bitcoin at all? Hell yeah.
Pay rent using bitcoin? Well that's something new that I have come across and sounds totally cool. Awesome.
Using bitcoin for paying off such expenses would actually be really convenient if you have a real life job and almost half of your expenses are covered here and you can live a luxurious and lavish life.
People can buy almost every thing on this forum itself, given you just find the right person to trade with. So yeah.

I guess it’s situational. While some of my purchases are $20 and under, the majority are more. In order for me to pay rent using fiat, for example, I would have to bank wire funds from the US into a bank account in the country I live in. The wait time would be 5-10 business days and the fees would be roughly $25-40US. Bitcoin transactions for my rent cost less and take no more than a couple hours. In situations like this, it makes sense for me to use bitcoin over fiat. Is bitcoin economical to buy a cup of coffee or a meal at a fast food joint? Hardly, but for me, those aren’t the types of transactions I use bitcoin for, so again, it’s situational, I suppose.

What is an Airdrop?  Grin
Some project give you some free tokens like a lucky money.
You receive it and hope their project will success
Oneday you will be a richer

Some project use Airdrop to sell their token and no open any ICO.
This is a good way to announce to the world about their project

This is incorrect. Please stop spreading misinformation. Airdrops are not sold or purchaseable by the developer; they are free coins that are given away solely to bring more awareness about their project.

816  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Hacking is the Big Problem on: January 27, 2018, 04:44:10 PM
How do you know that this isn't inside job?
In my opinion if hacker steal money from exchange it is not your problem and they have to pay back whatever users lost.

This is why all exchanges have their privacy policies and terms reflect that they are not responsible for any outside breaches made to their networks.

You don't. Hacks target the exchanges wallet by finding exploits and not the user accounts separately. If you want your funds to be safe, use exchanges for trading only and withdraw to your personal wallet.

I love it when people say this. How the heck do you 'trade' if you keep your coins in the wallets... You don't.

IF you're holding, then yes, keep it in your wallet. If you trade it makes no sense.

What I meant is do the trade and withdraw instantly. Exchanges were created for trading and not for holding your funds. Unless you are day trading, I see no reason on why you should keep your money on an exchange for a anything more then a few minutes. Trading with individuals on forums etc. is another option to avoid using centralized exchange.

I think we're at a pivotal moment where a lot of the new adopters of crypto trading don't have a clue what Mt. Gox was. I love when people criticize the people who advise others not to keep their money in exchanges. Just because an exchange offers 2fa options, and verification on your account, doesn't mean that they can't get "hacked". Like so many others have said, I also believe that anytime an exchange gets "hacked", it's just an inside job for the devs to make a few million bucks. And for reference as to why a lot of early adopters ALWAYS recommend pulling your money out of exchanges (outside of trading), here's the wiki link to Mt. Gox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox

And for the record, another coin theft just occurred by Coincheck, and the value of coins that were stolen is confirmed to be more than the Mt. Gox incident. Again, another exchange "hack": https://www.coindesk.com/coincheck-confirms-crypto-hack-loss-larger-than-mt-gox/
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrop! on: January 27, 2018, 04:35:31 PM
AirDrop is a wireless and secure transfer system between two devices that makes use of a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. This connection sends the encrypted data, so it is a fairly safe method to share files.

That's the AirDrop that Apple uses between devices and has nothing to do with cryptocurrency airdrops.

What is an Airdrop?  Grin

An airdrop in the crypto world just means that a developer or blockchain gives away free coins/tokens to the community. The only requirement for most airdrops is that you have to install the wallet of the currency that is providing an airdrop, and maybe provide the developer with your email address or any other form of contact information.

Your next question is probably going to be why do developers provide airdrops? It's usually to bring more awareness to their coins. It's an easy way to use a percentage of their available supply to give away, rather than having to use those coins to try and put successful bounty campaigns together.

Before you go wasting your time signing up for all these airdrops, just remember that these coins are usually airdropped pre-ICO, which means that they are absolutely value-less. There are always new coins being developed, and many many many airdrops happening, but just keep in mind that most of them won't be worth anything. There could be a few diamonds in the rough, however, that do breakout into valuable coins. Ripple was airdropped in the beginning. So was Decred.

Let me know if you have any more questions about airdrops, and I'll answer them here.

819  Other / Off-topic / Re: Money for school fees. Invested in bitcoin. on: January 27, 2018, 04:20:27 PM
Hi there! I just need your advice. I invested the money instead of paying my school fees. Yeah, i know this is wrong because education is more important to us and it can't be stealed from us, i'm still studying but my fees will be doubled on the next payment. But i believe this will end a good result. What do you think about this ? Your advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

First of all, you should only and always do what you believe is the best for you. Nobody here has a crystal ball that can tell what's going to happen with Bitcoin, so anyone criticizing you for this decision, or praising you because you'll be in profit have no clue what they're talking about, and you shouldn't give their "advice" any validity or let it affect how you decide to move forward with Bitcoin.

Here's a very important question for you: What are you doing with the Bitcoin you invested in? Are you simply holding it? Are you planning on short trading and arbitrage to make a profit?

Given that you used your money to buy bitcoins rather than further your education, there's a small greed factor of expecting returns for buying the Bitcoin. My advice to you is that since you've already invested in it, you should now use your time wisely in order to learn about the many ways you can use your current investment to make more money.

The exchange markets are comparable to the penny stocks in the United States in the late-80's. It's like the Wild West, and you can make a HUGE profit, but the risk is extremely high. You'd be aligning and associating yourself with shitcoins that were designed solely for pumping and dumping, but if you're able to sleep at night, a few hours of research everyday about new shitcoins could potentially lead to you short-trading your way into deeper pocketbooks.

Since you won't be going to school next semester, you should look into ways of earning crypto by spending time online. There are different ways to earn bounties, and you'll find many sources here in these forums.

If you're proficient in web tech and development, you can easily create a website where you offer links to sites where others can earn bitcoin for free. Most of these sites (faucets) have referral programs that pay a percentage of what your referral claims, and if you build a referral network of thousands, you could easily make a few bucks a week. More if you know what you're doing. At one point, I referred over 6,000 to a faucet site, and I was earning $80-100 per WEEK from that one site alone. This takes a good amount of your time and knowledge (to make sure that you're not referring users to scam sites or sites that do not pay), but could be profitable if you know how to juggle your earnings vs. investments in ads and marketing services.

Now, for my personal opinion about your decision to invest rather than going to school? Kudos to you. You obviously have a grandeur vision about bitcoin and (hopefully) its technology. I'm a high-school drop-out, and I realized that I possessed the fundamental knowledge of what school teaches you to prepare you for the real world:

  • Discipline: How to create and follow your own schedule, and apply your discipline to maintain everything in your life, such as your job and any extracurricular activities.
  • Social Interaction: How well you interact with others.
  • Practical Application of Knowledge: possessing the gumption to know how to utilize your knowledge of what you've learned and apply it towards the best situation outcome of whatever you experience on a day-to-day basis.

If I leave you with anything, please remember this, as it's a mistake that a lot of people generally make when it comes to crypto: If it sounds too good to be true, then it more-than-likely is. Stay away from sites and services that offer you any return on your investment. There's no way that any company can GUARANTEE you a return, and any site that claims that they can is a ponzi scheme. This includes cloud mining sites.

With that said, welcome to the world of crypto, and I wish you the best! Surf around the forums here; there is a TON of knowledge and some pretty awesome people that can help point you in the right direction!
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We're al getting it wrong on: January 27, 2018, 03:39:41 PM
You’re proving a double standard, OP. because we are free to do with crypto as we please, we can use it freely for whatever we want. It’s not just meant for holding. It’s not just meant for trading. It’s not just meant for exchanging into your preferred fiat. It’s meant to do whatever you want. That’s the true nature of why Bitcoin was invented. Part of having control over your money is also having control to do with it as you please. And if people choose to make a profit on crypto, then so be it. There’s no sense in criticizing people for fighting over it, as that’s just the nature of any currency in general.

How many places do you know in your day to day life where you can pay with bitcoin. In my case : 0.

I have a prepaid phone plan, so I buy phone credit using Bitcoin on BitRefill. There are a couple of establishments on the island that I live on that accept Bitcoin, so that's how I pay. I pay my rent in Bitcoin. I pay one of my vendors for IT services in Bitcoin on a monthly basis. I don't know about you, but as much as I hodl Bitcoin, I do use it as a currency for services and goods on a regular basis.
