81  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-23] 'BTC Is Not Bitcoin’ Says Craig Wright on: May 24, 2019, 06:12:49 PM
His version of cryptocurrency (BSV) is right now struggling with a market cap of just $1.8 billion, which represents less than 1% of the total cryptocurrency market cap. That itself gives a demo on what the community thinks about him and his forked coin. He may be able to cheat some of the new users and fool them, but this success will be short-lived.
82  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the Next Bitcoin Bull Run Started? on: May 24, 2019, 04:58:18 PM
Today the price have crossed $8000, and expect the price to continue reaching $10000 or even higher. Weeks back itself the price increase have got initiated, but some price correction have taken place in between and once again we're experiencing some form of gradual growth. Price dumping and pumping is true with bitcoin and now it's time to hold for a bigger profiting.

There will be a lot of profit booking before we reach 10K. From what I have observed during the last 7 years, the vast majority of the Bitcoin users are either in their teens or in their 20s. They don't have the patience to hold their coins for 3-4 years and everyone wants to become super-rich in two weeks. So when the prices plateau out briefly, these people will start selling their coins and it will weaken the bull rally.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we not abusing decentralization? on: May 24, 2019, 04:53:32 PM
Decentralized is being abuse is so many way as whales in the market are not really making the decentralized what it is and the market situation is also not really helping it at all but the exchange and the project collecting data's of every investors are not helping the situation.

We still have a choice, right? A lot of the ICOs ask for KYC information, and that goes against the spirit of decentralization. But then again, it is our choice whether we want to participate in those projects or not. But always remember that these projects don't have any association with Bitcoin, other than using it as a medium to raise the funds.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: May 24, 2019, 04:49:36 PM
This is definitely true and it is an advice to all newbies. In crypto world, don't trust anybody and don't fall for unrealistic investment schemes. It is a trap.

True. There are so many of these investment schemes going around, and the vast majority of them are ponzis. The truth is that with Bitcoins, we don't need to make any other investment. Bitcoin by itself is a very good investment. Since it is protected against inflation, we don't really need to increase the number of coins by any sort of investment.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Advise Newbies To Enter Bitcoin Now? on: May 22, 2019, 02:52:21 PM
As a newbie here, I can say that bitcoin is looking very bullish, and it's really tempting to jump in now. But what all technical indicators are telling is that the pullback is almost inevitable, or at least consolidation at slightly lower levels. But if you want to buy for a few years, anytime is a good time. Another option to buy is, in case you miss with a pullback, is when btc breaks the previous ATH at around 20 000. All the media will be highlighting btc and some parabolic rise very-very likely to happen at that time.

If you check the past charts of the exchange rate, then it can be seen that the pullback (or correction) occurs almost immediately after the end of the bull run. Here also we had a correction, when the prices plummeted from $8,300 per coin to $6,300 per coin a few days back. But that phase is over and now the prices are back to $8,000 per coin.
86  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reached 8000 - and what next? on: May 22, 2019, 02:49:17 PM
"Nobody knows if a stock is gonna go up, down, sideways or in f**king circles" Smiley

Replace the word stock with bitcoin and it all makes a perfect sense.

With stocks it is still easy. You can somewhat predict the future direction of a stock after analyzing about the actual product. For example, you can predict the future price movement of the Apple stock, by analyzing the sales of iPods and iPhone. But with Bitcoin this is not possible. One parameter that is available is the trade volume. But that can also be interpreted in many different ways.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto - Evidence Here on: May 22, 2019, 02:43:22 PM
I have another theory. I don't think that Craig S Wright is the real Satoshi Nakamoto. But it is possible that he knows the real identity of Satoshi. And the reason why I think he suddenly came up with this claim, may be because of the death of the real Satoshi. He made the claim of him being Satoshi, fully knowing that the real Satoshi will not be there to counter him.
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is Climbing Up. on: May 22, 2019, 02:06:06 PM
What we've been experiencing with bitcoin at this point is a common form of growth. After a long we experienced sudden growth in the market reaching $8000+ from the price around $5300. This into consideration we cannot say that bitcoin isn't climbing up. Bitcoin now sitting around $7950 which could cross $8000 anytime soon gaining good support.

It has the potential to breach 8K, but today a lot of momentum was lost due to the BSV drama. After Craig Wright filed the copyright claim, a large amount of investment shifted from BTC to BSV. Social media groups set up by CSW is putting a lot of effort in projecting BSV as the original coin. The last time I checked, BSV was up 70% and Bitcoin was down 3%.
89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2018-2019 on: May 22, 2019, 02:03:05 PM
I haven't been to a football game in ages partly because of the price but also the atmosphere. I've seen kids crying their eyes out because of all the degeneracy and shouting and swearing and fighting in the stands.  I don't even watch the games in pubs any more. Too many louts smashing pint glasses every time a goal goes the other way. Fully grown men behaving like children. It's embarrassing.

It's all a part of the football environment. I enjoy watching the game in stadiums, as well as in pubs. The people are so passionate about the game and the atmosphere is electrifying. All the swearing and shouting... it just adds excitement to the atmosphere...  It's a different experience when compared to watching the game on TV, with your family or close friends.
90  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: May 22, 2019, 01:58:05 PM
We all have our top 5 players, but we are very bias in making our own list.

I think I should include Klay Thompson, very underrated player, very good in both offense and defense, and we see how he handles Lillard.

There are too many good players at this point of time, and it is very difficult to pick 5 out of them. I agree with you on Klay Thompson (especially in the defense department). Golden State Warriors are blessed with very good players such as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, so sometimes we forget about how good he (Klay) is. I don't want to compare him with Curry or Durant, but he is integral to the GSW team balance.
91  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2018-2019 on: May 22, 2019, 01:53:08 PM
I just found out that in inter state conflicts can affect sporting events, IMO is unfair that soccer matches must be protected by relevant institutions at FIFA or UEFA levels and have an important role among countries. Is there no solution for that? Regulations between countries such as players are protected? IMO it's unfair that the player role greatly influences the team performance.

To be fair, the Azerbaijani authorities were saying that they were ready to guarantee the safety of the Armenian player. But Mkhitaryan was afraid that there will be an attack from the spectators while the match is going on. Can't blame him in this situation. Anyway, his forced withdrawal will be a significant blow for Arsenal, and now they will have to change the starting lineup.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will miss final match against Chelsea. He isn't injured, he will not travel to Azerbaijan because he worried about his security.  There is political tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we know history of Armenian Genocide were over 1.5 million people were killed. It's shame that important player have to miss final because of such reasons. And question is open - is it Baku was right choice for the final?

Armenian genocide is not the reason. If that was the case, then no ethnic Armenian would have been able to visit Turkey, where the genocide occurred. The real reason is the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Nagorno Karabakh region. The Armenian minority in Azerbaijan was banished after the war (in 1993) and as far as I know, no one with an Armenian passport have been able to enter that country ever since.

I don't know who chose Baku for the final. FIFA and UEFA should step in and shift the match to some other location, such as Sochi or Tbilisi.
93  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: May 22, 2019, 07:38:24 AM
My current Top 5 players in the NBA

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Curry
4. Kawhi
5. Harden

Its almost unfair that the Warriors have two of the top 3 players in the league and they are showing that they don't even need Durant to win the title.  KD still doesn't get much respect after he won his rings because he had to join a superteam to do it.

Surprising that Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn't feature in the list. My pick for the top 5 will be as follows:

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
2. Kevin Durant
3. Malcolm Brogdon
4. Nikola Jokic
5. Kawhi Leonard

I have excluded LeBron James, as I think that he hasn't scored enough points for this season.
94  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: May 21, 2019, 09:12:36 AM
GSW swept the poorly portland trail blazers in four. Sad

The last match was a close one, but still the difference between the two sides is obvious. To be fair, Portland Trail Blazers have some very good players (Damian Lillard, McCollum, Meyers Leonard.etc). But their team bonding and coordination is not that strong. On the other hand, GSW is perhaps the most balanced team within the Western Conference. There is perfect coordination between their players such as Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson. Even the absence of Kevin Durant had very little impact.
95  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People who gamble are degenerates, change my mind. on: May 21, 2019, 09:02:18 AM
As someone who have been gambling for the past few years, I find this thread quite offensive. Who gives you the permission to badmouth other people? Gambling is a perfectly legal activity, and we honestly pay our taxes to the government if we win. And trust me, most of the gambling sites do pay their taxes honestly and punctually. You don't have the right to abuse anyone, just because their behavior doesn't fit within your small frame of morality codes. As long as they are not gambling using money stolen from you, you should be fine.
96  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you play at a casino where payments are delayed for days? Why? on: May 21, 2019, 08:56:57 AM
I have been to this field (crypto) for quite some time, and my advice would be to avoid any such gambling site. And I would say that this is applicable not just to the gambling sites, but to other ventures (such as exchanges and crypto-stock markets) as well. If they take too much time, then it means that they are either under-staffed, or don't have enough liquid funds in their reserve. And for me, that is a giant red flag. You don't know when they will shut down their operations without any warning. Better to avoid such sites.
97  Economy / Economics / Re: How can Bitcoin reduce global economic inequality? on: May 21, 2019, 08:52:22 AM
Even if people have a job the inequality will not dissappear. Why? Because is not paid enough and people don't have enough money to buy what they need sometimes, and this is just the fault of governments, because if they will do something for people then people should afford to buy what they need and also economy some money.

Stop blaming the government and the system. If your salary is low, then it means that you are not skilled enough to get a high-paying job. Under such a scenario, it will be better to increase your skill-level by undergoing training and educational programs. Today the socialist economies does not exist and we have free market economies everywhere. The interference by the government is minimal, and if you can compete with your colleagues in terms of productivity and skills, then obviously you will end up with a good salary.
98  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of goods goes up, salary never goes up!!! on: May 21, 2019, 08:47:55 AM

Over the past 30 years, salary never goes up, I know because I saw the salary today is same as my first salary 30 years ago, I’m not disclosing my age, so don’t be too paranoia, but the price of everything goes up thru the roof, the only person who salary goes up are (ikr, salary must kept secret because it is case sensitive, don’t tell anyone else!), ok, enough rant! Try to tell your kids to work for a salary in the future, I think they could barely afford a piece of beard!!

End of story! Ciao!

So you are claiming that your salary hasn't increased during the past 30 years!!!

How this is possible? There are two possibilities. Either you are lying, or you are unemployed and living from welfare payments. In my case, during the past 10 years there have been a 8%  to 10% annual increase in the salaries (I had changed my job 4 times during this period). If you are not satisfied with your salaries, then why don't you find a new job for you? You were unable to do that for 3 decades? I find your thread very strange, and the increase in my salary has been greater than the rate of inflation in my country.
99  Economy / Economics / Re: On stablecoins on: May 21, 2019, 07:50:13 AM
Stablecoins have no advantages over fiat and no advantages over crypto. They are used only as a ponzi scheme and scam projects. They have no other purpose than that.End of discussion. Grin
By the way,Wikipedia can't be used as a trusted source of information. Grin

I wouldn't generalize all the stablecoins. There are a few reliable ones out there, which are backed up by assets in fiat cash (either hard cash, or cash equivalents). But as the ongoing Tether-Bitfinex drama has shown, it is wrong to have an assumption that stablecoins such as USDT are 100% reliable. Look at what happened to USDT. As per the information given to the authorities, Tether is only 74% backed up with real assets. This is despite the fact that they had always claimed that every USDT token is backed up by US Dollar, 1 to 1.
100  Economy / Economics / Re: Why can't we have a good cryptocurrency exchange? on: May 21, 2019, 07:44:51 AM
In fact, it should not be so pessimistic. Binance is now a very useful and powerful stock market. Hacking attacks and other weaknesses will be normal. Cryptocurrency has a history of 10 years and it is perfectly normal to have such vulnerabilities and issues.

If the hacks become normal, then how do you expect the exchanges to survive? All it took was a single hack to destroy Cryptopia. Now the users are stranded and their funds are frozen (I am talking about those idiots who refused to withdrew their coins when they had the option to do so). Even Binance got hacked a few months ago, but they managed to resume their operations. If the hacks become normal, then the closure of exchanges without prior warnings will also become a norm (rather than an exception).
