81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] 'foo' and 'bar' coins--a "how-to" guide for cut+paste cryptocurrency on: December 04, 2013, 04:25:48 PM
How long roughly should this take to build from start to finish?

On your first time give yourself a day off and have plenty of breaks and always get the testnet up and running, a lot of developers do not do that.

After a few coins, you should be able to make one and release it within 60 minutes.

Wow thanks, I might have to  give this a go. I have already messed around with some of the previous guides over the last few months but this one looks comprehensive. I want to create a game that uses Cryptocurrency so this might be a good opportunity to create a coin specific to the project.

83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Integration into 3D/Gaming Engines? on: December 04, 2013, 04:05:44 PM
This is something I have been wondering about for a while now. I would like to know how/if it is possible to integrate Bitcoin into video games and other 3D simulations? I have left the term "integration" very open ended intentionally as there are a few potential ways of going about it that would be worth exploring. I should add that I am not a programmer, I have worked on my own games in UDK and Unity though, my belief is that anything is possible if you find the right people to work with.  Grin

So how might one go about this, lets say for example if I wanted to built a game that allows the user buy items with Bitcoin while also allowing them to use it as a currency trading it with other users. Could a programmer write up some code and add that functionality into the core mechanics of the game?

Also if you think about it, gaming is a perfect medium for Bitcoin growth and adoption. Most gamers are around 20 - 30, have some tech awareness and probably already buy virtual "imaginary" items too.

85  Economy / Goods / WTS Samyang Nikon 8mm (1:3.5) Fisheye Lens > 0.57BTC or £250 on: December 04, 2013, 03:07:17 PM
As the title states, I have been considering selling my Samyang fisheye lens (Nikon Mount) so I would like to offer the lens for sale. The lens is in like new condition with no scratches, working perfectly of course. I used it once for a photoshoot and I have not used it since, hence why I would rather put the money towards a new investment. I am looking for 0.57BTC (or £250) which is the minimum I am willing to sell it for, this does not include postage which can be worked out depending on Uk or international shipping. I should add that this is a great lens, and great value considering the typical price associated with Fish Eye lenses.

86  Economy / Goods / WTB Oculus Rift Dev Kit on: December 04, 2013, 02:34:40 PM
I am interesting in developing for the Oculus Rift, mainly designing landscapes and urban games. If anyone happens to have one and is interested in selling then PM me. I am hoping to get a new/used Dev Kit at a good price as the consumer version is expected 2014 and I will be purchasing that too. I can buy in BTC, or we could work out an alternative FIAT deal.

On a slight side note, if any programmers are also interested in developing for the Oculus feel free to contact me, I am experienced as a 3D artist however my programming knowledge is not the best.  Grin
87  Economy / Services / Re: WTS Real Social Followers - 1000 for 0.05BTC on: December 03, 2013, 04:54:09 PM
Has the BTC price for this service changed? The price of BTC has increased a lot.

I wonder if anybody did purchase any "friends".
How I like the term "real" social followers.

Noone has yet bought any, I have had some requests but not enough to indicate enough interest offering this service. I should add that they are "real" users so I am not sure what you are getting at with that statement. I am going to lock this thread but for those interested feel free to PM me. Considering the Bitcoin price is not very stable I will offer this service for around £35, the price depends on how many followers you are after.

Apologies for not replying, since the recent forum issues I have had problems logging in. I will get back to the PM's sent shortly. Smiley

why do you have that strip across the top showing your progress if you are already up and running to the point of functionality?

My immediate perception is a super snazzy "This website is coming soon!" page that you often see for 4-5 years back in the day.

I only happened to see there was more on the page because my finger hit the down arrow on my keypad.

Get rid of that. If someone stumbles on your site, email them you aren't ready if that's the case. Then you have an email list to announce when you are ready, instead of guys like me who clicked on your website and had a "eternally coming soon!" flashback, who just leave and forget we were there.
It's all looking really quite amateur right now.

I am not sure what you are referring to, you do have to scroll just like any other website and I don't think anything is hidden away?

My account is missing quite a few options, but has billing/ shipping address???
You have to buy/sell in discreet units?
So it's not trading, you buy and sell directly with the site?

I'd also suggest this will need to be a full-time job for you, not a side project, else this will all fall apart quickly.
It's all looking really quite amateur right now.

I have already set up 2 Factor, that was one of the first things I did so it should be accessible during registration/login. I will eventually add the SLL, BTCSense is at an early stage of development and I need to make sure the project is viable from a technical perspective. The buy/sell in discreet units is indeed an issue, and also the primary reason I am looking for a JV programmer. I would like users to be able to enter a specific amount so that the order is calculated plus a small fee, the current system does work, it is just not ideal and certainly not suitable for day traders.

I am a student (final year) so I have a few months before I can make any projects full time unfortunately, until then I plan to build up the infrastructure and scale up once he system is working sufficiently. I will admit that I am an amateur considering the fact I have never built and exchange before, Bitcoin needs new blood to get the ball rolling, especially here in the UK. In addition, test transactions were all completed without a hitch, all in less than 30mins which is not bad. No money actually passes through the site which is an added bonus in terms of security.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cost of Altcoin Development? on: November 30, 2013, 10:10:58 PM
Lately when I have some time to spare I have been messing around with some of the scripts and guides available on how to build an altcoins. Since I would need Linux for compiling etc I have not progressed too far, I am just learning as a newbie. I do however like the idea of custom coin built that I can use, mores so for personal projects, for example I am working on a video game at the moment. I would just like to ask a few questions in regards to altcoin development. These questions are very general, I assume answers will vary from developer to developer, any thoughts and maybe even some experienced feedback would be great. Here are some questions:

What kind of budget would one expect for a basic coin (clone), and what about something more innovative (custom)?
How long would one expect a developer to create an altcoin in general?
Also if I were to pursue a project like this, where is a good place to find developers?

Thanks in advanced for any thoughts, also please don't complain about the idea of another altcoin, I am more interested in this as a portfolio project lol.

Would Satoshi ever consider helping this mom struggling to pay for her son's college tuition?

1Dryux6ATStAhtMvnnvDD2ShFs4z5jH8in   just in case he's reading this.....
Can't blame a mom for trying!

With that amount of wealth, he has the power to do something even bigger than bitcoin - help to eliminate hunger, fresh water for all, give access to education...and still be left with enough for he and his family to never want for anything....
I think he should contact Bill Gates who has started a foundation where everyone gives away 50% of their wealth to help change the world....
Of course, we would want him to donate slowly as to not effect the value of bitcoin!  Smiley
Maybe starting with helping one son get through college?

What if the college would accept his bitcoin as payment - would bring great, positive publicity to bitcoin!

I guess Satoshi is the new Jesus lol. Satoshi please give me Bitcoin to heal my blindness!  Roll Eyes
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi: The first anonymous USD Billionair on: November 28, 2013, 02:00:19 AM
The dude could have be holed up in his parents basement, wearing dirty underwear and popping pills.  Truly amazing they have managed to amass so much wealth and their identity remains not publicly known.  That fact alone is a testament to the power of Bitcoin and an example of one of the many ways in which it is going to change the world.

Just a question, how are you so sure it's a he?  Don't be a sexist.
And how do we know if satoshi is one person?  It could be a group of very tech savy girls.
They could be white (although I am suspecting that he/she/they is/are in Japan or China).

Dont be racist Monbux, he could be black! or Indian!

Seriously though it is unlikely Satoshi is a girl, especially consider an overwhelming amount of Bitcoin users are male.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi: The first anonymous USD Billionair on: November 28, 2013, 01:56:06 AM
Like I have always said, Satoshi is an artificial intelligence program reproducing in the blockchain. Once full awareness is realised all Bitcoin mining rigs will start transforming into robots that inevitable take over the world. Welcome to hyperreality.

98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Should I create a new Bitcoin animation? on: November 27, 2013, 09:42:06 PM
Last month I created a visual animation for a forced labour awareness campaign I will be working on the next few months. It was fun to put together and I am interested in making another, this time on the subject of Bitcoin. I would first like to get an idea of what you think I should cover in the video? Lets say for example you could create a Bitcoin video, what would it be about, who would be the target audience and ideally what kind of narrative would the video use? Also if I do create this video would people find it useful and use it on sites and so on? A sample of the previous video will give you an idea of what I aim to produce, I will probably aim for a 30 - 60 seconds though. This idea stems from the original Bitcoin video that from memory first introduced me to Bitcoin, it's a great video it depends if there is anything they left out?
