802  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2013, 10:29:15 AM
At $500 ?

Oops, confused weekend with Monday. The pitfalls of having erratic shifts.
803  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2013, 09:30:27 AM
Wow damn, trying not to panic sell. Bought 17.5 Coins at 766$ 2-3 days ago. I´m nervous to lose my 13.5k$

Rule number one on bitcoin : do not sell on weekends.

Except last weekend was a good time to sell.
804  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chances of $150 again on: November 24, 2013, 09:17:47 AM
we'll never see below 400?

Actually, thats quite possible.
805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will crash to 40 USD next 24 hours... here is why... on: November 23, 2013, 04:10:56 PM
I have put in an order at $40.001
806  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Crash on: November 23, 2013, 04:07:40 PM
The Great Crash will start in a hour. Sell now and double your holdings in a couple of hours!

based on what? charts?

Charts are so yesterday. I read tea leaves now.
807  Economy / Speculation / Re: sold at $600. what to do? on: November 22, 2013, 06:29:36 PM
I bet after reading through the thread the OP will be none the more wiser Grin
808  Economy / Speculation / Re: sold at $600. what to do? on: November 22, 2013, 05:09:11 PM
I think it will see low $500s (gox price) in the near future. Of course, predictions may never come to fruition.

1. Never sell everything at once.
2. Never buy all at once.

Since you've already violated 1, take your USD and divide it into 20 or so chunks.  Then, buy the same amount of USD worth in BTC every day until you are back in.  If prices dips, you will get a good average price.  If price rises, you won't get as many BTC, but you will at least get some.

A very good strategy actually.

I would do something similar - break my money into 3-4 parts. Buy some now, put some at the break even price and keep a few far below. Once you have done that, be patient and don't tinker. It may take even months for the price to come down. If it doesn't, well, the few you ended up buying will be worth a lot more.
809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: November 22, 2013, 09:20:56 AM
Great thread. I'm impressed!

Can't wait to see if the chart goes according to plan when I wake up tomorrow!

What is your plan?  Smiley

If that prediction holds then I guess it would mean buy in the low $500s.
810  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 21, 2013, 08:14:39 PM
Enjoy your life and never look back..
There are many things more important than the possibility of wealth.
And congrats on your house being owned.
May your family once again regain your full attention and may the decisions you made for them never be regretted

Cheers

Very nice.

QuestionAuthority, get out of here.

Agreed.

And congrats, you have earned your dream. If you keep coming back here you will start second guessing and that is never good.
811  Economy / Speculation / Re: I always buy at the wrong time.... on: November 20, 2013, 10:43:24 PM
Rule #1) Never buy all at once.
Rule #2) Never sell all at once.
Rule #3) Never sell all your coins.

An even simpler system is:

Rule #1) Never sell
Rule #2) Don't forget rule 1!

This is good rule except everybody has to sell at some time, otherwise it wouldnt make sence to die with the coins  Smiley

Not necessarily. When BTC goes mainstream I may be able to pick up girls with my balance.

'I am loaded with BTCs. Wanna come up to my room?'
812  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who's the best at speculating price of bitcoin? on: November 20, 2013, 08:19:50 PM
My dartboard.

Doesn't work for me, I am good at darts. Would end up not trading - will still have the same number of bitcoins, mind.

Maybe I can teach my cat to throw darts?
813  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who's the best at speculating price of bitcoin? on: November 20, 2013, 08:16:00 PM
My cat, she has never, ever been wrong.

I have lost as many times I have gained, but I blame myself for mis-interpreting her meows.
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of Coins-E - they are stealing coins from the users on: November 20, 2013, 10:39:49 AM
Coins-E will in the scam list until they refund all the money they stole.

Of course, this a pipe dream. I am not expecting anything from these thieves.
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy is unsafe on: November 20, 2013, 08:42:46 AM
...and did cryptsy reply to your post ?

...are you sure about your right procedure about security ?

i tried waiting for a mod to come online, got bored. everytime i click support, it jus greys out and has that circle thing with no change. tried accesing my account a third time and ended up in another one.

i've given up on logging into to MY ACCOUNT for now, lest i end up in a very tempting account, or end up with access to the whole exchanges btc wallet...because then i'd have a new BMW.

Post a screen shot of this jopeto account with a "significant" balance.  Or is this like when you said you were opening a crypto bank in South Africa?   Roll Eyes

You mean, Nigeria, right?
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy is unsafe on: November 20, 2013, 08:17:03 AM
I can access my own account only.

Maybe I should try logging out and see if I can get into a rich account Grin
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP-take ages to confirmed-bitcoin on: November 19, 2013, 09:39:55 PM
The idea of a 10 minute internal is somewhat simplistic.  Bitcoin mining is a poisson process, so while the average interval is x minutes roughly 2% of blocks are found in less than x/6 minutes and roughly 10% are found in less than x/3 minutes.  The simple version is a significant fraction of blocks are found much faster and those faster blocks are the issue when it comes to orphans.

Interesting calculation. Cheers.
818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP-take ages to confirmed-bitcoin on: November 19, 2013, 09:15:54 PM
10 minutes was chosen as a compromise between responsiveness and orphans/efficiency/security.

10 minutes were chosen to make sure it got broadcasted sufficiently 5 years back. With internet speeds going up 10 minutes is too much now. I do agree regarding your pointing about orphan/fee, but that was hardly the intention when setting the 10 minute block time.

just a question, is it possible that this transaction will never be confirmed?

I read on these forums that it has happened, though I guess it would be very rare.
819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP-take ages to confirmed-bitcoin on: November 19, 2013, 08:39:31 PM
im really disappointed with bitcoin now, unpredictable confirmation time is this the future currency?

I put a letter in the mail with no postage and it had unpredictable delivery times.

No fee = charity.  It will be included when there is space and there may be thousands of free txs ahead of you.

.... and people keep saying you can transfer BTCs free of cost unlike other money transmitters.

The problem occurs when you send BTC from a site you don't have any control on the fee.

Hoping the BTC foundation is looking into reducing block times and transaction fees. There is really no need for 10 minute block times now with all the fast internet.

Still getting the odd block solo mining.

Not sure about the prospects of this coin; so will turn off once I go 24 hours without one.
