801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Casualty List on: May 13, 2015, 09:48:27 PM
Did anyone add Moolah? lol, i remember I was almost investing on there.
It's normal that many fail in this new revolution, startups fail all the time, in this unexplored scenareo its even easier, but those that win will make billions.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using the blockchain as a ledger for stocks? on: May 13, 2015, 09:43:56 PM
Ok, I've read several mentions of it and listened to some talk of it but I would like to know a bit more about how using the blockchain would work as a public ledger of stocks.

From what I am understanding, in theory, I could take maybe 1 bitcoin and split it into 1 million bits with an address for each one designating it as a "stock". Then take that list and make it publicly available. If you want to buy a share, say for $1 per share the company would send you the bit to your address and thanks to the transparency of the blockchain, since you know the original address, you can track any address it transfers to. You can then sell your share to anyone else by sending that bit to someone else.

Is this how it works?

Does colored coins make this simpler? I am sure there are other things that came out that do this as well that I heard about.

I'm not looking at creating a separate blockchain since Bitcoin has the built in security of petabytes of computing power behind it.

i cant explain it very good but colored coins seems to be a way:

http://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/nasdaq-launches-enterprisewide-blockchain-technology-initiative-20150511-00485

(this news alone is huge but not many people seem to be exited - lol  Grin )

That looks like yet another "We like the blockchan but not Bitcoin".

I don't understand why people would not want to incorporate into the Bitcoin blockchain considering it is the most secure ledger in the world.

In the news: NASDAQ blockchain taken out by a 51% attack

It's a stupid ego fight, or they are just simply clueless. If you are going to use a blockchain, and you aren't using Bitcoin's (the most secure network in the planet) you are either in for an ego fight or a total retard. Maybe they want some sort of centralized method?
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Payment methods database for P2P Bitcoin exchanges on: May 13, 2015, 09:41:48 PM
Take a look at multisigna. It seems like a great idea. Haven't used it yet but seems solid, and a reasonably anonymously way to trade bitcoin, definitely better than the average exchange if you want some extra privacy.
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks HongKong accepting Bitcoin and giving 20% discount on: May 13, 2015, 09:40:31 PM
Great news, the hipster iphone airmac type of starbucks niche could be huge with BTC, even if they use it just because its trendy and cool, any use is good use.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi still have plans to access his coins? on: May 13, 2015, 09:09:33 PM
Satoshi invented this, how can you even doubt that he doesn't have everything planed and safely stored? Everything satoshi does is for a reason and for Bitcoin's sake.
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I invented this ask me a question on: May 13, 2015, 09:04:06 PM
He does a good job when trying to come up as a japanese speaking english, does the same grammatical mistakes.
807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao - Who are you taking? on: May 10, 2015, 12:41:25 AM
Just as I expected Mayweather backpedaled from his SMS that he sent to Steven A Smith where he stated he would do a rematch. He's saying now Pacman is a sore loser and will not do the rematch, I knew he wouldn't put his legacy on the line again, he'll fight again in september and retire with 0 loses and tons of money to live perpetual vacation of luxury for life. Yes, im jealous as fuck, I wish I made that type of money.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin only Businesses that reject all fiat on: May 10, 2015, 12:38:58 AM

Great, i've bought small amounts of silver in the past with amagi, decent dealers and good support. May try to buy some small time metals in the future with BTC to test it out.
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I let my last credit/debit card expire this month on: May 10, 2015, 12:37:23 AM
This sounds very exciting. Keep us updated on how things roll. Im willing to try something like this in the future, when (hopefully) my BTC stack is enough (10+ years?).
810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao - Who are you taking? on: May 05, 2015, 05:00:21 PM
http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/12824362/floyd-mayweather-says-willing-fight-manny-pacquiao-again

So we can potentially see a rematch where Mayweather fights Pacquiao again for the 50-0 (assuming he doesn't get beaten by Khan or whoever in september, which he will not).
811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can the Winklevoss twins actions be explained? on: May 05, 2015, 04:58:39 PM
When the winklevosses were prudent to make a wise investment in BTC in 2012, why did they not sell a large percentage in the great BTC rally of 2013?

It's widely speculated that they own 1% of coins in circulation. Which means during the rally their BTC holdings were worth at least $100 million. When their combined net worth is about $200 million why would they not sell out. It would have increased their net worth by 50% overnight.
Did the BTC market not have enough liquidity to make them whole, if they decided to cash out a percentage of their holdings?
There are people on the forums who were apparently able to cash out $1MM worth of BTC on finex.

They are here for the long run, they know we are still on the very, very early days, the expected Bitcoin marketcap for them is on the trillions, as it has the potential for defeating VISA and the rest of electronic payment combined, thats the goal and thats what everyone that is here for long term should strive for.

In my opinion, VISA has a completely different business model or function than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a currency, and VISA is a specific payment system. VISA could even go as far as offering Bitcoin integration at some point! I don't think Bitcoin will replace, VISA, FIAT money, or anything!

It doesn't necessarly mean replacing, but beating them in terms of transaction volume (which could be done without replacing them, and in return BTC would be on the trillions, at like 350K a coin).
812  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to turn 2BTC into 4BTC on: May 05, 2015, 04:53:35 PM
Some of the gambling opportunities are actually not that risky. For example, betting in favor of Mayweather in a fight, or betting in favor of Madrid/Barca winning a match. People make a lot of money with those. Of course usually the odds are in favor of them, so it means you need to risk more money to get better results, but it usually works, I made some cash with the last Mayweather fight.

There are rumours now saying Mayweather is going to do a re-match with Pacquiao in a year.. so maybe get another epic fight were Mayweather (if he doesnt get beaten in september which I doubt) will fight again against Manny for the 50-0.
813  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC for SMS? on: May 05, 2015, 04:22:44 PM
Hello, dont you know way to buy bitcoins by SMS ? I would try it, I found few webs, but I don't want to try it when I don't know anything about them. So if you can say me about some trust web for do it. Also I need to do it with O2 operator, from Europe.

Look into this. They are also making SIM cards that work with the blockchain for those that do not have smartphones.
814  Economy / Economics / Re: US Dollar collapse in 2015? (2) on: May 05, 2015, 04:17:22 PM
To collapse should start being extremely obvious (yes even more, to a leel where average joes see it too) in about 2050, by 2070 there should be a mega crash if history of fiats repeats itself.
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Has What It Takes To Replace Fiat? on: April 23, 2015, 11:29:41 PM
But the question is, can bitcoin really substitute dollar or other currency sometime soon?

Yes, once bitcoin payments become reversible.

If the Bitcoin Foundation can get the charge-back coding changes implemented, I think this baby is headed to the moon.
Actually nothing needs to be charged at dangerous levels (fork) to address that, as Andreas addressed on the reddit AMA:

816  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Mass Bitcoin Adoption Still Not Happening? on: April 23, 2015, 11:26:32 PM
Whenever a person here asks for why things are happening as fast as they expected, the very first bit of advice I give them is look up, and read on that nice light blue bar, where it says "News: Latest stable version of Bitcoin Core: 0.10.0 [Torrent]"

817  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to invest in btc? on: April 23, 2015, 11:20:01 PM
The best time to invest in BTC when the price just fell down Smiley
You also can get discount if you use bitcoin in specific place

But the real question without answers is - how do you know that the price just fell down. Maybe it's just starting to fall.
When BTC was 220$ recently, I didn't buy, because I thought it was in the middle of the dive to 150$-160$ again. And a lot on analysts told price will fall further, but it didn't. I guess we'll have to ''get discount if we use bitcoin in specific place'' Wink

Well you could always apply the logic of "buy the dip" and as soon as a dip occurs, you immediately go and buy some more coins. In any case, you have to decide whether to sell your coins in case the price goes down a lot, be careful not to panic-sell your whole stash!

I wouldn't hesitate to get in as soon as possible. If you are here in the long term, it's not going to matter much if you got in at 150 or at 250. What would be terrible is missing the boat while trying to get in right at the perfect price entrance.
818  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price in 10 years..... on: April 23, 2015, 11:07:15 PM
Just like Satoshi already said, I also believe that in 10 years the volume will either be very high on there will be no volume at all. This will directly be reflected by the price of BTC, which will either be very high or crash even below current levels.
Satoshi predicted everything thus far, including the centralization of mining. Guy was a genius, im pretty sure in 5 years we'll laugh at the current ATH since it will be nothing compared to the current price at that time.
819  Economy / Economics / Re: Government & Bitcoin on: April 23, 2015, 10:59:44 PM
It will always be a hate love relationship with goverments. In order to reach massive adoption, there will need to be a common ground where the can regulate the transactions at a certain level. Also to recognize smart contracts etc.
820  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: April 23, 2015, 10:47:34 PM
However i was talking about western central banks, there guys are really broke, probably hold 1-2% or even less in gold, and the debt is perpetually growing. I`m not even sure why they even hold gold at all when their debt is by orders of magnitude larger.

Germany's Bundesbank is not one of the Western central banks, I guess? What about the Fed then, which has around 6,000 tonnes of gold held at its NY vaults? Italy and France come after the USA and Germany in total gold reserves. Still wanna talk about Western central banks void of gold?

Nominal value doesnt matter when we also got quadrillions of debt.

See the debt/gold reserve ratio and then come back again, you will see the gold reserve compared to the world debt or that regions debt is insignificant.

That 6000 tonnes of gold cant even pay 3 months of USA debt interest, let alone the entire debt lol.  Cheesy

It is no good trying to switch to a different theme. Gold is money, and, as a matter of fact, it is the best money out there yet (whatever they might say to the contrary). That's why central banks all over the world (including the ones of the most developed countries) are hoarding it...

Gold is not the best money out there yet, feature-wise Bitcoin smokes it out of the water. The only superiority of Gold above BTC is Gold is a part of human culture ar something valuable. From the ancient times to the modern times with all these dumb rappers flauting their "gold chains". That's Gold's strong point, it's network effect basically. But that is subject to change overtime.
