801  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Help - Crazy high transaction fees from Exodus wallet during withdrawal!!! on: November 13, 2017, 06:56:51 PM
Right now, I have about 324 usd in bitcoin in exodus wallet and i can only withdraw up to 252 USD max because the rest will be fees.
This is because I have been receiving small daily payments in bitcoin from mining to this wallet.

Earlier i withdraw 60 dollars and got hit by about 130 USD in fees...this is insane

How do I stop this? Pls advise
Do u use a different mining wallet?

This is more than crazy rather its ridiculous and it's something that needs to be attended to by the bitcoin core developers because it seems miners have just decides to kill bitcoin on their own but the issue is if the difficulty and the cost of being a miner is not too much where the miners are spread all over, all this will not be happening but its because the mining and confirmation of transactions has been centralized to some set of people, that's why challenges like this is being faced.

Is there a way to hold the bitcoin in a wallet that does not do this?
Or is the only solution is to not get paid in small amounts because I am not sure if my pool supports this.
They pay automatically daily.
802  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Help - Crazy high transaction fees from Exodus wallet during withdrawal!!! on: November 13, 2017, 06:44:28 PM
I haven't used Exodus before but that does seem a little high for transaction fees....I would suggest opening a ticket with them to see why the fees are so high.  If I remember correctly fees should roughly be between 5-20 dollars depending where you go for your exchange.  Anyway, good luck!

http://support.exodus.io/article/71-i-receive-btc-mining-payouts-why-are-the-fees-so-high
There is this explanation.
I dont think there is a point to talking to them.
It seems their dynamic fees means somehow my transaction fees are high and it gets sent immediately.
The fees are high because they came from many small payments...wtf man. It is basis per KB.

Surely others encountered this issue before. Is there a cheap holding wallet of sorts?
I am googling but no solution so far.

Btw, is it possible to regenerate my exodus wallet on another, say electrum and then use electrum instead? I can choose lower fees on electrum, correct?

Fees are higher to withdraw if they come in small daily payments. This applies to all wallets?

806  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Do u install some safety device to shut off miners if the room overheats? on: October 27, 2017, 04:40:10 PM
I think this one could be help if your fan box was broken or malfunction it can monitor buy using this new smart plug or if your miners overheated it will automatically turn off we know already that miners had own  auto off function when hot so this device has also depends in your setup..
check here
https://www.digitaltrends.com/home/d-links-new-smart-plug-will-automatically-turn-connected-devices-overheat/
just found this in google when searching before and i saw this new smart plug could help me to prevent fire in my room ..
Noted but i dont think it is a good idea to attach miners that run 24/7 to a smart plug.
807  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Do u install some safety device to shut off miners if the room overheats? on: October 26, 2017, 08:55:35 PM
I think you can make a temperature reading device that cuts powerlines

U mean it reads the temperature of the room and cut powerlines? Is it costly and have u done that?
Isnt it better if it cuts the powerline if the exhaust fan that cools it malfunctions?
808  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Do u install some safety device to shut off miners if the room overheats? on: October 26, 2017, 05:57:54 AM
My cooling is basically a big box fan. If the box fan were to malfunction or trip, my room would overheat quickly and my miners will overheat too. I know the miners have overheat protection but is that good enough?
Does the antminer switches itself off completely when that happens or goes into some standby mode where it is still turned on?
I would hope it turns itself off completely as I might not realize it for hours...

So, do u guys install an electrical device (a contactor or something) to switch off the power if the box fan were to fail?
A fail-safe as u could say.

A surge protection device is necessary in case of lightning strikes.
Is there anything else to install?
The miner will automatically stop mining, and hopefully, your fan would be reliable to where this wouldn't be an issue.
There would be no point in putting a fail-safe.
You should definitely install a surge protector.
I will definitely install a surge protector.
When it stops mining, I assume it shuts off totally, and not goes into its fan is working-standby-mode yes.
Will it cause significant wear-and-tear or any minor damage if it overheats and auto-shuts off??
I may not be around and not notice the shutoff for a few hours u see. I dont monitor it 24/7
809  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: High fan-speed with new batch Antminer S9s on: October 25, 2017, 07:52:45 AM
As I recall, the fan on the S9 is rated for 5800 RPM at full speed.
It's NOT the high end of that Delta series (which is a 6800 RPM model as I recall rated for 250 CFM or so) but one step down from the top.

That cant be right. I seen it go to 6000 RPM many times now.
810  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Why does 2 same S9 models at same location have 2 different temperatures?? on: October 25, 2017, 07:41:07 AM
These machines will run safely for months at 100c chip temps, you have nothing to worry about.

Noted. Thanks

In addition the application of the thermal epoxy might be different or whatever thermal compound they put on their chips nowadays. Temps look okay the way they are so I wouldn’t worry too much about them. I remember having to repaste miners in the past and using up a whole tube of good quality paste because the paste on older Bitmain miners weren’t applied very well.

Below 90 is a good goal to reach for you. Under 70/80 is actually preferred, you might want to consider switching your mining area or adding more airflow to the miners.

I accidentally broke one of the fans on one of the antsminers S9. I cant remember which one and I replaced it with a bitmain fan.
U think it could be that?

The thing is the miners are next to each other. Air flow is the same. I could switch locations but I believe would be the same.

It seems the front and back fans of the hotter miner tend to have the same RPM and the fans on the cooler miner always have higher RPM for fan 6, which i think is the back fan.
So, it is running cooler because of negative pressure?
811  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Another S9 card FOOKED !!!! on: October 24, 2017, 06:26:20 AM
Cheers, Photobucket have a cheek !!! It's slow as hell as well

How long have u been running it. It stopped at that 76-81 temperature? I thought that was a good temp?

U switch PSU. Are u using bitmain PSU or a different PSU?

You only have 2 boards even showing up. Looks like the controller isn't even plugged in. Even with a bad board, it should still show up with all xxxxxxxxxxxx . Check the controller plug on the missing board.

 Lemme know more...

Scrap'

It was showing 3 boards mate, rebooting via logging in done nothing and still showed 3 boards, it ONLY went to 2 boards when i physically unplugged it ?

I have checked the ribbon cables between controller and board and is fine.

Also my other faulty miners only show 2 boards, they are the new type self adjusting fan speedd/frequency as well...So it is the norm for me.

I have also swapped pcie-e connections from good board and even new psu's.

NOT worth sending back as they are 11.5Th models and run at 9.6Th !!!

Just hate losing hash power when i have access to free leccy !

Cheers Mate

It is only showing 2 boards bro, something is going on with the controller I'm telling you. Try the ribbon cables 1 by 1 on each card till you find the bad cable or board. If you will notice when you add the 2 it shows together with the amount of each one, it will be full speed. 1 board is not showing at all.

Trust me I have over 20 s9'2 and they have different versions of firmware yet all of them show all 3 boards.

Scrap'
How long u been running them and at wat temperature?
812  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Why does 2 same S9 models at same location have 2 different temperatures?? on: October 24, 2017, 06:15:10 AM
It'd be logical to assume that this is due to silicon lottery. The hotter chip most likely needs more voltage to achieve the same level of performance and thus it came like this out of the factory.
QC at Bitmain isn't that great so it's normal for them to let allow for such large variations. It happens. You probably shouldn't worry about it, unless of course it gets too hot.

Hmmm i see. I guess there is no way for me to improve on this

And your idea of too hot is above 90 degrees or 100?

LOL @ 5 year warranty....   New company?   RIIIIGHT....

Yep, thats the biggest red flag for me too lol.
These scams nt gonna stop unless they start getting prosecuted imo.

Can someone help me tell notfuzzywarm to please remove me from his ignore list. I was a newbie then and I did not mean to argue with him...
I rather not have such things sigh. I think he cannot see my pm
Been there seen it, don't care. Most of the time folks earn the ignore button from the nature of questions they ask vs differences of opinion. Sorry but I rarely respond to PM's from anyone aside from a few select members here as most of the time answers to questions asked are already here in the general Forum if folks just take the time to look/search. If it is the rare new question: Post it in the Forum so others can benefit from answers.

I see. Noted, will do
814  Bitcoin / Mining support / Why does 2 same S9 models at same location have 2 different temperatures?? on: October 23, 2017, 05:15:47 AM

Antminer S9 13.15 TH -

Antminer S9 13.15 TH -

I dont understand it. Both are 13.5 TH miners. They are located next to each other on a shelf. However, they have different temperatures.
And the oddest part is that the chip with the lower temperature on the miner have lower HW errors.

Why?  Huh

816  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is it really ok to have antminer S9 operating at over 80 degrees celcius? on: October 23, 2017, 04:50:25 AM
Dude 70-80 is more then okay  you don't need ac.

you are better off without ac if you stay under 95.

once you go over 95 you need to consider trying to keep it cooler.

my oldest s-9's are in service since June of 2016  they run as high as 101 in the simmer and around 88 in cooler weather.

keeping them dust free is more important then keeping them under 80c

and hw  of 0 or 10 is meaningless

you hw pct is more important if it is under 0.0050  you are fine.

basically you are ocd about your numbers because you can't believe coins are over 6100 usd and that you are whaling!!!

Just relax and enjoy this bro. or sis since I don't know who you really are.

I see. So, dust free is more important. My HW is now about 481 but only about 0.0003%. I guess it doesnt matter. I guess I should worry more on overheat protection. One of my S9 chips is up to 83 though.
I dont get why I have 2 similar S9 miners and they give different temp numbers.
I am a bro Smiley

Thanks for the info man.
817  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is it really ok to have antminer S9 operating at over 80 degrees celcius? on: October 21, 2017, 05:42:54 AM
The first of the s9s I have on site have been running since January.

With 60f intake temps pretty much all of my machines are in the 70-80c range. IMO 70-80c is ice cold for these machines. I ran these things all summer over 100c with no issues. These kinds of chip temps are the new norm for 14/16nm tech. For example my water cooled GTX 1080 still hits 70c at full load.
I see. 70-80 is good man.

Hmmm but i get above 80c all the time for one chip though. The temperature is always the same where I live.
60F intake temps, that about 16 degrees celcius in your room. Do u get condensation issues in the room or machine or on top of the portable air con?

My room temperature hovers between 31-34 degrees celcius and I can put air-con but it does not help much since the air gets sucked out quickly by my strong ventilation fan.
The room is a small 5 square meters room.

I am getting

S9 Temp

At this temp, there will be some HW errors on the above 80 degrees chip. The other 2 chips will have no errors.
This is basis 13.5TH devices. I have 14TH S9 devices coming later...and it might get hotter. Sigh, I wish it was 13.5 TH devices instead of 14TH.

At this temp, the above 83 degrees
D3 Temp

L3 Temp

I am considering making  a partially covered box around the antminer S9 and duct some air-con in. The box will still allow air intake from outside air but I got a bad feeling it might cause condensation as the humidity is quite high here at around 65-80%. Even if I add in cold air that has been dehumidified, I worry that it might cool the intake air that has higher humidity.
Anyone does that?

Or is it possible to just get the antminer s9 casing and a new control board and put 2 antminer S9 hashboards per S9 casing. That way, it will be cooler. I am guessing the middle board is always the hottest board yes?

It is kinda ridiculous that they only have that 1 working miner in a lab......

1 working unit that can't be inspected, or can't have a video taken of it running, or any other way to verify it does what it says, or that it even exists, all based on a supposed new chip which has no information on.

There's so many red flags - they could even just say what foundry they're making the chips on, show blanked out documents of the order, pictures of the chip even - nope.

Maybe they cant show documents but pretty much all phones have good video function these days...

It is kinda ridiculous that they only have that 1 working miner in a lab......

Pretty sure they have 0 working miners, nor do they even have a 'lab' for testing. I pointed out it was a scam weeks ago.

Seems so. I wonder if anyone actually paid for these...
820  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is it really ok to have antminer S9 operating at over 80 degrees celcius? on: October 18, 2017, 02:40:45 PM
In the summer my S9s run over 100c at the chip level. The thermal cutoff is 115c, thats when they stop mining. 80 degrees on a chip is relatively cold, dont worry about it.
I see. How long have your antminers been running?

So your saying s9s can run at 100C? Wow thats crazy. Also 80C is relatively cool?
I never ran anything around 100C, maybe a few of my gpus might hit 80C once in a blue moon though.
Those temperature seems pretty high, and you havent damaged anything so far?
I always thought anything around the 80C temp would be worrisome

Thats wat i think as well but there is alot of info that under 90 degrees for antminer is good. I find it weird too but those info do come from some good posters like notfuzzy.

I suppose these chips can handle that much heat but somehow I dont feel that comfy with it lol.
