Revealing your identity doesn't mean anything. We still don't even know who created Bitcoin..

That line is always a winner when someone goes on about "But we don't know who the devs are"

Yep, it usually shuts them up xD
822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 03, 2014, 07:21:47 AM
As a DRK supporter from Day 1 the only other altcoin I would suggest you guys getting into right now is Cloak. ... Don't believe any of the FUD from anyone Cloak is the real deal with 5 full time developers. It's a real steal at the current price.
That's all fine and dandy but until those 5 developers reveal their real life identities then it's just another scam coin with anonymous developers who are biting at the bit to pump the coin to others while they DUMP ALL and then exit the coin to work on their next anonymous dev scam coin.  One of the reason's many invested in Dark was that the developer never hid his identity.  He made a product and backed it and owned it himself.  Until they do the same they are just more coin conmen.

Revealing your identity doesn't mean anything. We still don't even know who created Bitcoin.. Anyone developing an anonymous currency imo should remain anonymous. I don't need a lecture from you on Dark(XCoin) either I was here mining on Day 1 before you even knew what anonymous transactions were. I know a winner when I see one which is why I'm passing the word on to other DRK supporters.

Btw, the only thing getting pumped out of Cloak is innovation.

Guys, there was a long update posted a few pages back.

@eltito
Anyway we can get links to these updates in the first post?  I appreciate the time you spent typing that out, but if it gets lost in the thread then people will still say communication is a "problem".

We discussed this yesterday on the darkcointalk board, I need to get with Evan and come up with an efficient way of updating the OP here.

I like Evan more . Where is Evan ?

I am fuzzy and lovable, you can't resist my allure forever.

Ok eltito ! Make us belive !

Hmm.

Well, I had a nice chat with Evan a few hours ago. Like I said earlier, you may want to take a closer look at what toknormal has to say here.  I don't think I'd put much stock in anyone else's pet theories about why the market is doing what it's doing right now.

You may also want to re-read what Tante had to say a few minutes ago.  She's got a good handle on things.

I'm going to be having a boy!  Well, technically my wife is going to be.  William.  My first kid Smiley.

Congrats Eltito! Hopefully many more to come!

CLOAK has no banker, now also did not see the banker, the banker's powerful, CLOAK could rise further.

Aliens

Asians Wink

Seriously though I think the Cloakcoin community could benefit from having it's own premium forum on https://cryptocointalk.com/. We'll be able to have sub-forums for technical issues, promotions, development progress on the different Cloak products. Not to mention it is TOR/i2p/VPN friendly. Bitcointalk is honestly good for initial exposure but once past that phase we need a bit more organization. It's definitely a more professional setup than this long gigantic thread without the need to run separate forum software on the cloakcoin website.

Nah either stay here or have an own official forum.... dunno why there is the need to get onto another forum... btctalk is the mainstream site ... no reason ... not even that TOR stuff to change threads

An official forum within the official website would be nice but the exposure from being on a mult-coin forum is better. Official forums require additional development resources and why would the community want to divert development resources to an official forum? https://cryptocointalk.com/ is light years ahead of bitcointalk in terms of the forum software and the community seems a lot more mature. This forum has been reduced to a former shell of itself.. intelligent discussions about technology have been reduced to "FUD" cheerleading from opposing camps.

Marketing an anonymous coin on a forum that extorts TOR/I2P/VPN users seems counter productive.

Cloakcoin has already developed an in-wallet exchange feature which can be used right now. They're also developing a decentralized marketplace in the Cloakcoin wallet.

Been holding CLOAK since mid-June. Made it a point to accumulate 2-3k CLOAK almost daily up until a few days ago shortly after the dip to high 30's. I have not lost faith in this coin, I am simply getting on board with other ventures because at this moment, CLOAK really doesnt have that much going for it...though I will say it could be the best time to buy as we expect an eruption in the near future.  Cheesy

Lulz. How can you say that CLOAK doesn't really have much going for it?

Hey everyone,

I just signed up @ https://cryptocointalk.com/ they are a TOR/I2P/VPN friendly cryptocurrency forum. Anyone else in favor of moving the official CLOAK forum over to cryptocointalk?

For those of you that don't know this forum is extorting TOR/I2P/VPN users for money. IMO this forum is not the best place to have an anonymous currency discussion.. The hypocritical thing is the forum is "Sponsored by https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/, a Bitcoin-accepting VPN."

Also check out their "premium forums" seems like it would be a better setup than this (being able to have sub-forums etc).

BTCtalk.org redirects to a bter.com referral link...
So is this just a referal link spam and he gets money from it?

Lol. I'm talking about this forum. I'll change the headline. Thx for the heads up
831  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk.org Extorting Users Privacy for Profit on: July 02, 2014, 10:48:30 PM
Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone here know that this forum is extorting users who prefer to browse in privacy. I fired up my TOR browser instead of using my I2P connection and immediately got a message saying that I had 50 units of evil that I must atone for.. which amounted to roughly $2.00USD. It isn't so much the amount more than the principal behind it. A really interesting business model - branding privacy evil and measuring it in units for profit. Last time I checked the forum has plenty of ADs, resorting to privacy extortion is the lowest of lows.

This forum is only here because we keep coming here. If they don't give 2 cents about our privacy why should we keep coming here? The hypocritical thing is that the forum is sponsored by https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/ an advocate for private browsing.. Lulz.

Anyone else interested in moving away from this forum, let this be the exodus thread. I'll invest the time and energy to create a privacy friendly forum for cryptocurrencies if there isn't one already. AFAIK https://cryptocointalk.com/ doesn't charge users for using TOR or a VPN.

UPDATE: https://cryptocointalk.com/ does not charge users for using TOR/I2P/VPN. Anyone looking for an alternative privacy-oriented cryptocurrency forum? I'd suggest signing up there for an account.
832  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: July 02, 2014, 10:32:31 PM
More anonymizing means more web crimes and less security for normal users. Imagine you would be ghost on the street, you will never run out of bad ideas, what you could do to the people.

Less anonymity leads to more crimes and increased power for criminals.
Consider these cases:

Would you, as girl, tell your abuser where you live?
Would you tell a thief how much possessions are in your wallet?
Would you tell a paedophile when your kid is alone?
Would you tell a thief when you go on holiday?
Would you tell the government where whistle-blowers live?
Would you tell a killer your location?

Anonymity can be used for both the good and bad.. without anonymity you sacrifice a lot and don't gain anything. (unless NSA pays you  Cheesy)
4chan is a good example. It's used for jokes, talking and also some bad things occurred there.

+1

Some people are better off using Fiat currency, credit cards and the like. Not even sure why there are people in a cryptocurrency forum advocating anti-anonymity. Meh, since the forums owners don't give a shit about privacy either I guess they're in good company. I am going to make it my side project to drive this forum's credibility into the ground. Once people hear about this privacy extortion it's game over for this extortionists forum.
833  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: July 02, 2014, 10:24:47 PM
You plug yourself into the largest surveillance network system in the history of mankind and want anonymity? This is like a cow entering a slaughter house then claiming he is being liberated by the butcher's knife because he no longer has to suffer cow tipping.

I've always used a VPN or TOR while browsing so I'm not worried. There's ways to avoid ever being the "cow" as you put it. Fact that this forum tries to make money off of privacy has nothing to do with being a cow or a pig. Its privacy extortion - that is what the big issue is here. Before you make animal parallels, I suggest you take some reading comprehension classes.

Normal users? We were here before you were normal. You're on a cryptocurrency forum. Maybe you should also advocate for decryption and government trapdoors in the user's wallets. I swear as time goes on the level of intelligence in the Cryptocummunity drops exponentially.

Can someone explain what is different about XC and Cloakcoin methods of anon tech now? Both seem to be releasing same day, july 7th. What will set cloak appart from XC?

So will XC also be fully anon decentralized? I'm not finding much information comparing the two, is there one better than the other or both work the same way?

Cloak has a 5 million max supply and is going to have a full ecosystem for anyone to conduct business as they see fit. We could see this coin go well beyond the $100 mark.

I'd just be happy to see it get to the $1 mark first.

Cloak is holding strong at 26-35cents a coin without any major PR. You should be happy you can stockpile right now. Smiley Only reason why it isn't $1 already is people are accumulating, just take a look at the richlist. There's more people approaching the 100k mark which is what we need for this coin to go the double/triple digit numbers. Having the majority of the coin in the hands of weakhanded day traders makes the coin weak and susceptible to outside market manipulation. Anyone that has 30-100BTC in this coin isn't going to dump the coin at the 1st sign of FUD.

Well for one centralized exchanges have always been the Achilles heel of any privacy-oriented coin user. Cloak's got a 1up on every other coin in that department with Cloaktrade.

If one were to look at the big picture Cloak would be like Apple - A full suite of products under one development team. CloakTrade, CloakVPN, CloakMarket, etc all working fluidly with each other. A currency is only as good as far as you can use it otherwise its just something to pump and dump if the price goes up. Cloak having a full suite of products under development puts it in a unique position to compete directly with Bitcoin or any other top tier coin in terms of its useability once the full suite of products are on the market. Relying on 3rd party developers to build on top of Cloak will be a secondary concept that will only strengthen the community.

A lot of people here are missing the big picture. 1st Cloak decoupled from exchanges so your cloaks are in your wallet when trading with a centralized exchange. Cloak is then moving to further anonymize transactions between users and staking with CloakSend 2.0. CloakMarket, a decentralized marketplace for people to sell/buy ANYTHING they want regardless of your nations laws (think of a bulletproof Silkroad). The Cloak ecosystem is taking over the game. Most of the other currencies have to rely on 3rd party developers to build these types of supporting applications - which could ultimately put the user at risk exposing him to a centralized platform. Everything in the ecosystem is decentralized and anon friendly.

Darkcoin hit $15-$17 without any market, exchange decoupling or proven anontech. Cloak has a 5 million max supply and is going to have a full ecosystem for anyone to conduct business as they see fit. We could see this coin go well beyond the $100 mark.

Altough i will hold my coin, it still kinda gay we let this coin get to 36 again..

Look at the richlist more 100kers joining the party. We need these drops to shakeout the weak hands.

Why is the price dropping for cloak when there is no negative comments in this ANN? Everything is just positive , doesn't make sense.

Manipulation look at the walls they are jumping to fear away any holder so they can buy in again. I think some whales from bittrex are trying with FUD and manipulation to get their coins back.

Price manipulation. I feel really bad for whoever is dumb enough to sell to this guy.

Actually scratch that. Whoever is dumb enough to sell to this guy doesn't need my sympathy.
