Update:

16-day progress report on our marketplace concept:

http://shadowtalk.org/topic/289/sbay

Feel free to leave some feedback on the design thread! Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Thanks

I've said it before and will say it again: Shadow designer is seriously killing it.
As someone who does graphics as well, I do appreciate a good design – and this clean and kinda minimal design is way to go. Seriously; hats off.

However if you want some worthy feedback, it would be better to post bigger picture (read "not cropped"). What I see is good, who knows what's below :]

(+ Sry for not commenting on the thread, but I don't have an account there.. yet)

Thanks for the kind praises! Much appreciated!

Feel free to sign up on shadowtalk, it only takes a few seconds Wink We could always use another designer's input. The discussion platform there more modern than bitcointalk with real time updates you don't need to refresh the page. Plus you don't have to deal with teenager tantrums Cheesy

Round two testing has begun for version 2! We've setup a testing thread that contains links to the new build as well as instructions on how to participate: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/265/public-testing-for-zk-shadow-round-2

Testing channel is #shadowtest on freenode IRC

If you any feedback or bugs related to testing, please post them on the test thread via sdtalk. It makes it easier for the team to track issues and provides a knowledge base for new users.

Thanks everyone.

What is this bullshit? I expected to see real development and solid progress, huh? Instead of this, all we get are empty promises, devs blaming the community for not doing enough(!!!), and more "stringing people along"  Huh Unfortunately, all this project has proven, is an inability to deliver anything at all that is innovative, or real. Devs, it is your job to bring a product to market that people want to buy. You can't blame your project's failure on the community!

First off, I'm not one of the devs. Since we're talking about development - what have you developed? You're quick to say this project hasn't developed anything innovative, yet the work here has spawned countless clones. I'd love to see what you've developed so I can understand what 'real' innovation is. Can you show us what code you've written that is being used in other projects?

You're the perfect example of who my previous post was directed at. The most vocal in criticizing the dev teams efforts, yet you bring nothing to the table. Try applying your negative energy to something positive like volunteering in your local community.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] Shadow | Zero Knowledge Anonymity Public Testnet Online! | PoS-SPV | HTML5 on: December 01, 2014, 07:27:29 PM
You guys are really bad with this thread moderation.
You criticize governments wanting to control everything and you do the same as them. When people have not the same opinion as yours, you fight them or remove his post. You are doing the opposite of what the cryptos represent!
You guys are really afraid of trolls or people with different opinion???
If you want fight them, you can do it with tech, new products and innovation. Trolls have no power if there is real work on background and investors don't need to see trolls posts to sell.

Hey Skaia,

The only quotes I've seen deleted are ones that are either blatant trolls or people quoting troll posts. I don't like my posts getting deleted either, but I've learned to stop quoting the trolls. This thread is for information and discussion related to Shadow it's not meant as a venting thread for some low life forum trash. There's plenty of places for people to do that already. Technical debate and healthy criticism is always welcomed here. If you've noticed there's a few people that post mindless gifs beside their baseless accusations that have already been addressed. That isn't criticism it's slander and has no place here..

Like I said yesterday who really cares about their constant trolling? Don't let it bother you, otherwise they win. Next time a troll comes in here just think of this:

Above post is kind of a PR nightmare lol. It's a pretty bad post, for many reasons. Let's just call it an off day.

It was an off day, had just returned from a snowboard trip xD I didn't mean to offend anyone here, I just think we could use more pro-activeness in the community.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] Shadow | Zero Knowledge Anonymity Public Testnet Online! | PoS-SPV | HTML5 on: November 30, 2014, 08:44:20 PM
Our team is working non-stop on wide array of improvements to Shadow, not isolated to anon. To be clear with everyone here the upcoming update isn't just a zk update, it's a complete overhaul of the core. Our devs decided to take the time to improve the overall experience rather than just make a privacy update. IMO, this was the best long term decision for the project and a sign of software development experience.

People complaining about the price and lack of updates from the team should ask themselves what they themselves are doing for the project. This is a community project so everyone should be putting in their own effort to learn about Shadow and the market it is aiming to serve. This project needs proactive believers not day traders.

If you have any type of skill that you can bring to the table then contribute. If you have free time on your hands try some organic backlinking in relative articles. There's a laundry list of things you can do to help spread awareness about the project besides making complaint posts here and on shadowtalk. If you have a problem with the price do something about it. Be proactive. Imagine if just 5 people within our community spent as much time backlinking as our devs spend writing code.. imagine how many people would know about Shadow.

A couple things:

Our team works for Shadow not any single investor. Our goal is to build the best possible currency platform on the market. We don't need to update every few days and hold your hands. Look at the deliverables and you can see that the team is more than qualified to handle that task. Historically our team updates with real updates not trivial ones. Personally, I'd rather have our devs writing code than writing updates every couple of days. Seems like a distraction especially when you're in the zone.

Our team so far has been internally funded - meaning that there has been an complete absence of donations. If you're that passionate about the project (enough to complain here) and are financially able then chip in to help support the team. I find it insulting that people criticize the team, when they themselves aren't bringing anything to the table. Showing your appreciation for all the hours of work is a small gesture but goes a long way.

http://shadowtalk.org/topic/11/donation-list-of-donation-addresses

As far as the trolling goes: Who really cares? Some overweight low life forum trash with the mental capacity of a 12 year old decides to post some bullshit on here from his parents basement and people get upset. Its the equivalent of a welfare recipient attempting to advise you on your financial portfolio. If you take advice from someone like that then you need to reassess your investment strategies.

So is it true that there is a shadow marketplace coming? I have heard a few things here and there and wanted to know if its true Huh Or just heresay/rumors

The devs are busy with the zk update and improvements to Shadowcore, but that doesn't mean the community can't start contributing to decentralized marketplace development. Feel free to leave your feedback for the feature request here: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/268/shadybay-decentralized-shadowcash-marketplace-listings-and-exchange

If the concept interests anyone in the community we should start a donation drive to get it done.

It has been ages since I last posted on BitcoinTalk after serving out my second ban lol Smiley

Anywayz, covered the public testing here.

Good article, I liked it  Smiley

Once zk gets out of beta, I look forward to many such articles. We need to build the number of SDC users. Right now I only see 164 addresses with over 1000 coins:
http://sdc.blockexplorer.cc/richlist/index.php?min=1000

And only 280 users with over 100 coins. But those appear to be staking users. According to my calculations 12,352,120 coins were issued in the PoW and about half of those are appearing on the block explorer, so I guess half the coins aren't staking.

But being about half of that half is held by a dozen or so people, there is no way for these coins to be distributed without a major dump. So I'll wait!

Total number of coins in circulation (6.4M) are shown here http://sdc.blockexplorer.cc/stats/

Top addresses seem to be the exchanges. So the number of addresses on the richlist aren't correct. We need more people staking than leaving their coins on exchanges. Didn't anyone learn anything from mt gox and mintpal?

OK that's great information. We can look at the order books and see how many of those coins are being offered for sale and how many are just sitting there.

Maybe a post-PoW mining pool would be useful, it could mine the most profitable coins for any algo you point at it and pay out in SDC purchased at its low sell price on any exchange. It would help people who want to acquire because most of us don't have accounts on all the exchanges.

lol was that really a attempt at fud lol pathetic

I'm not sure if I would call it fud. It just seems like his calculations were off, which is an honest mistake. Plus the exchange addresses don't really help either to display the correct number of addresses and corresponding coins.

Loading the Android wallet- looks like it's syncing up to about 60K blocks left and freezing up. Good wifi connection. Normal, or do I need to do something with my phone?

Sorry if this has already been asked & answered, long topic! Can't wait to start staking!

Truth be told, Android wallet sucks in my opinion.

If you have it running in the background, it will probably have syncing issues.

I do believe the devs are going to redesign the wallet with a friendlier UI and using their SPV code for faster syncing and smaller blockchain. Can't wait for that.

i am sure after ZK-snarks full release dev team will solve it

in my computer i am using lite wallet, and it works perfectly and sync very fast....so why not android wallet in the future

It might be nice to have the whole thing living on a SD card. That way there would be less of a problem with blockchain size, and you could swap cards and move your wallet to a new phone. Maybe even trade the cards as a form of physical SDC.

Hey Automatic Monkey,

Thanks for the input. I would suggest creating a feature request on Shadowtalk. It's easier for the team to consider improvements when they are easier to find. Feedback via bitcointalk posts tend to get lost because it's one giant thread.

Will ZK effectively end all competing privacy-centric altcoins (purely from an anon-tech standpoint)?

I guess what I am trying to ask is this:  Is ZK the holy-grail of anonymity?  And will it leave all other currently available anon-tech (such as DRK, XMR, XC, etc) obsolete, inferior, & nonsensical to use?

The short answer - yes.

(...)

Cool story indeed! Will definitely watch this.

Btw excellent redesign! (Yeah I know I came late..)

Thanks! You're still very early, things are just getting started here.

I've made a feature request for a client installer that would probably help with the initial install. Everyone feel free to give feedback or piss on it: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/260/shadow-installer

Good words indeed, although I can't recall anyone laughing at you nor fighting with you (except that retarded emilio mannnn).

I feel like mostly people have just been ignoring you.

The "holy grail" imo would be to gather all the talent and resources amidst the altcoin scene (development, PR, community, 3rd party apps, support) to deliver the ultimate solution, but that is impossible to realize, as everyone has their own interest to look out for. The irony of the situation is, that it should be in everyone's interest to unite and provide a real alternative to fiat before it's too late.

The next best thing, is to have a few strong alternatives to bring the importance of private finances to the masses in their own right. There are more than one way to skin a cat after all, for example DRK with the masternode network placing the anonymity outside the blockchain, and SDC with the cryptographic solution.

Well said illodin. One of the main issues plaguing the space right now is the professional sports mentality.. people think this is a hockey match between projects, but it's actually an arms race against the old system. A collaboration between like-minded projects benefits the cypherpunk movement as a whole; in-fighting between legitimate projects only helps slow down the rate of change. I think a good first step would be to form a multi-project forum or network for all cypherpunk projects and distance ourselves from the scamming, fudpacking and general negativity here on bitcointalk. It's one way that the movement can grow in a positive direction.

People in the hockey mentality would do well to refresh themselves on the origins of anonymous crypto:

"A specter is haunting the modern world, the specter of crypto anarchy.

Computer technology is on the verge of providing the ability for individuals and groups to communicate and interact with each other in a totally anonymous manner. Two persons may exchange messages, conduct business, and negotiate electronic contracts without ever knowing the True Name, or legal identity, of the other. Interactions over networks will be untraceable, via extensive re- routing of encrypted packets and tamper-proof boxes which implement cryptographic protocols with nearly perfect assurance against any tampering. Reputations will be of central importance, far more important in dealings than even the credit ratings of today. These developments will alter completely the nature of government regulation, the ability to tax and control economic interactions, the ability to keep information secret, and will even alter the nature of trust and reputation.

The technology for this revolution--and it surely will be both a social and economic revolution--has existed in theory for the past decade. The methods are based upon public-key encryption, zero-knowledge interactive proof systems, and various software protocols for interaction, authentication, and verification. The focus has until now been on academic conferences in Europe and the U.S., conferences monitored closely by the National Security Agency. But only recently have computer networks and personal computers attained sufficient speed to make the ideas practically realizable. And the next ten years will bring enough additional speed to make the ideas economically feasible and essentially unstoppable. High-speed networks, ISDN, tamper-proof boxes, smart cards, satellites, Ku-band transmitters, multi-MIPS personal computers, and encryption chips now under development will be some of the enabling technologies.

The State will of course try to slow or halt the spread of this technology, citing national security concerns, use of the technology by drug dealers and tax evaders, and fears of societal disintegration. Many of these concerns will be valid; crypto anarchy will allow national secrets to be trade freely and will allow illicit and stolen materials to be traded. An anonymous computerized market will even make possible abhorrent markets for assassinations and extortion. Various criminal and foreign elements will be active users of CryptoNet. But this will not halt the spread of crypto anarchy.

Just as the technology of printing altered and reduced the power of medieval guilds and the social power structure, so too will cryptologic methods fundamentally alter the nature of corporations and of government interference in economic transactions. Combined with emerging information markets, crypto anarchy will create a liquid market for any and all material which can be put into words and pictures. And just as a seemingly minor invention like barbed wire made possible the fencing-off of vast ranches and farms, thus altering forever the concepts of land and property rights in the frontier West, so too will the seemingly minor discovery out of an arcane branch of mathematics come to be the wire clippers which dismantle the barbed wire around intellectual property.

Arise, you have nothing to lose but your barbed wire fences" - Timothy C. May (1992) http://activism.net/cypherpunk/crypto-anarchy.html

I agree, without official confirmation from the Vertcoin dev team members mentioned in the OP.  Then I would be very careful before installing any closed source software released from a newbie account.

You can see our team members in the website ( zerovert.org ). We don't care if you want to call us as scam coin because we don't, and we are looking ahead to improve current Zerovert in term of performance, and security. But good luck, you only live once.

I'm personally not calling this a scam coin 'yet'.  I'm just warning people to think very carefully before installing any closed source software released by an anonymous BTT account.  The cryptocurrency scene was built up on opensource principles and foundations.  The sooner you release a road map for it to become 100% opensource the better.  I've been following Zerocoin development for quite some time now so am genuinely interested in this coin.  Has Poramin officially confirmed that this is his project?  If so do you have a link to the statement?

Be careful some of these mindless trolls will follow you back to your project's thread and attack you for using reason and logic.

As a long time darkcoin holder, what really brought me to drk was that Evan was very transparent with who he was and it led me to have some faith to invest in the project.

I'm wondering who is the core team behind SDC? I'm already invested a little, but want to know more.

What made me trust this dev team is the tech they have put out. They never hype anything and they never even announce a project until its already on testnet. Getting a community roadmap from these guys was very difficult because they are so careful to not hype their tech. This is one reason no one has heard of SDC other than those who have been lucky enough to stumble across it. They have released an incredible amount of firsts in crypto within the last 4 months.

  - First wallet2wallet rich text instant, anon, encrypted messaging
  - First openssl dualkey stealth addresses
  - First full feature mobile staking wallets
  - First HTML5 wallet
  - First POS lite wallet/SPV

Im sure I am forgetting some tech releases but you get the idea. What's even more crazy is that they quickly open source all this tech, maybe to the detriment of gaining notoriety for SDC.

They are about to release a tech breakthrough that nobody has been able to accomplish. People have been trying to pull off ZK for over a year and no one has been able to do it. From what I am hearing ZK is testing just fine and will be public testing very soon. All this makes me trust this dev team even more than knowing who someone is in real life.

+1 Well spoken.

Glad to have you on our side.

That being said Ryno did do a POD with crypto asian, and his linked in profile is avail to view.
So who else is on the core team? I'm having trouble finding out who's behind the project.

Hey godzirra,

The project's lead developer is sdcdev aka rynomstr. We have around 5 other devs all contributing to the project in different capacities with the addition of another dev/cryptographer who is in the process of joining the project. A couple of our devs also double up as graphic designers.

SDC Dev team:
rynomstr, tecnovert, ffmad, crz-, ludx,

We also have some part time foreign community managers that help with translations and posting Shadow updates to various markets: Russian, Indian, Chinese and Spanish. More proactive members include SebSebastian and Soepkip who handle our community management here and on reddit/facebook. Longandshort hosts and maintains Shadow's wiki page. Smurf and Kamui do tons of daily SDC giveaways in the IRC channel #shadowcash.

Personally, I'm not a fan of proof of developer.. IMO the only real "PoD" is proof of delivery/development. If you look at Shadow releases they've all been firsts for crypto: Dual Key Stealth Addresses, mobile staking, PoS-SPV and HTML5 client. Ryno also developed the first network leveraged EM system with his bounty work at CINNI. That being said here is the Proof of Developer Rynomstr did with cryptoasian - http://cryptoasian.com/sdc-shadowcoin/

As this is a privacy based project we would hope the community would respect the privacy wishes of the dev team. The Shadow project is community ran and anyone is more than welcome to contribute whatever skills they have be it marketing, development, design, etc. A few of us help out with various tasks like pm, materials, editing, pr, marketing - basically anywhere we can help out the project. A few holders have recently stepped forward to help contribute to the project with SEO and SEM. I'm definitely looking forward to see the community grow and be more proactive Cheesy

I'm glad to have you on board my friend. I was an early DRK investor myself so it's nice to both communities appreciating each others work. Historically, the only successful long-term projects have had technical founders, so I was relieved when I spoke to Rynomster the first time I got here. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to join us in #shadowcash on freenode irc or #shadow on anonops.
