I download the wallet using url on first page.
OSX (Mac) Wallet 1.9.5.2 with TOR and CloakTrade
When I run cloakcoin-qt, it's said " the file is damaged, can not open it".
Did you do a clean install by backing up your wallet.dat then erasing everything in the library/appsupport/cloakcoin? |

The macos wallet doesn't work. The file is damaged.  Im using the OSX walet and it works fine. Make sure you do a fresh install though follow the directions in the OP. Apparently fork on mintpal. Only way to recover for me was: 1. Make copy of wallet.dat -DO NOT MISS THIS else coin gone 2. Get rid of the entire appdata\roaming\cloakcoin folder 3. Run the wallet 4. stop it and copy your saved wallet.dat back in 5. create a cloakcoin.conf file in the appdata\roaming\cloakcoin folder 6. add some nodes eg this is the content of my file: Get latest nodes from... http://cloak.blockexplorer.cc/nodes/7. Run the wallet again and let it sync I had to restart it a couple of times to get the sync to complete If your coins don't show (happened to me) : go to debug console and enter and run repairwallet Should be good after that |

Devs please release the newest source on git.It has been discussed so many times. Devs don't want their product to be stolen for creating the shit clone coins. As long as the tech works i don't see the problems. They need to release a precompiled binary for Linux then. I have no Windows or OSX computers so I cannot hold my coins except on an exchange. The source is on github, it works just add the nodes in the main post. It's broken with 12 errors and none of the new features are in it. I built an earlier version of it when the relaunch first happened, so they broke it between then and now. I see, well your right on that. I think the devs are online in the IRC if not they are usually online in about 3-4 hours from now. Yes I apologize for the comment about things being fishy, I didn't see the posts regarding keeping the code hidden from potential clone coins. I would just like a precompiled linux binary with every new major release. Shouldn't be much of a task. It's probably easier to build on linux than windows and osx. The devs haven't released a new source because it protects the investors at this point. The Linux/OSX versions were on the backburner by the devs but they said they will be releasing the OSX/Linux versions with each new mandatory update. I actually agree with you, Linux is the easiest out of the three to work with. It should be the first one to be released. |

On another note. Cloakcoin is having real issues right now with their PoSA anonimity plan.
Their network is forking, it's true, check their thread & the devs don't really know what is going on.
This apparently may be a flaw affecting all POS coins. I mean proof of stake, not PIECE OF SHIT lol,
so please be careful with investing in copy cat, pump n dump coins.
Darkcoin is the secure leader with a great dev team & altough there are some other promising coins,
cloak seems ESPECIALLY RISKY, if you guys hold cloak, do consider selling right away.

I think $100+ is definitely doable with all the things coming down the pipeline. Darkcoin got to almost $20 bucks with the promise of anontech - no actual value added services, no anontech - just the promise of anontech. We've got 1/4 of the coin supply of DRK. If this ecosystem that is being developed actually gets pulled off we'll definitely be in the $100 range. Best thing for a coin besides the development roadmap is to nurture it's community. A strong community and strong dev team are what takes a coin to another galaxy. Be kind and informative to new investors and it will go along way in bringing up the value of the coin. Jump in the IRC channel and talk with the other guys in there. Lots of amazing ideas are being conceived regarding marketing and overall growthhacking plans. If you have any connects with a prior coin community let them know about Cloak because this is the real deal. The smart ones will come over because they know at the end of the day its about financial security in an investment not blind loyalty to a coin. |

On another note. Cloakcoin is an amazing investment right now. As an original DRK investor/miner I would advise anyone who is serious about making money to do their own research on Cloakcoin and get in while you can. They've decoupled from exchanges for in-wallet trading, developed their own anon protocol for the PoS scheme and have a decentralized market coming out that will be functioning in the wallet. They're setting up a decentralized Paypal/Ebay ecosystem but for the darknet. I would highly advise anyone who is a serious crypto investor to do their research and you'll come to the same conclusion as me. They've got 6 active devs. We could easily see cloak go to $20+ here soon.
I saw the potential of DRK early on and told people about it. Some invested and for some it fell on deaf ears. I can tell you right now that cloak will exceed the value of DRK. Take my advise or not.

They're not something that is a "game changer", they are "pumper" features. I can see it getting a bit of a pump out of it but what makes you think it's an order-of-magnitude thing ? It was at 90k sat but there was a 2 week shakedown of weak-handed holders and now its going back up. Real anon is a big deal as there hasn't been any real anontech implementation outside of Cryptonote. Kristov Atlas developed coinjoin suduko showing that the coinjoin method only provide a minor level of privacy that can be easily unmasked by a trained blockchain analyst. Most of the coins on the market right now only use coinjoin or an altered version of coinjion + masternode. Real trustless anon is something that hasn't been done outside of the cloak teams method. You might think of it as a FAD but its a real issue for people/merchants who don't want their wealth on display for the world. Cloak's In-wallet trading (CloakTrade) is a 1st for crypto. I haven't seen another coin actually decouple from the major exchanges and allow you to trade from your wallet. The source isn't released for CloakTrade so there isn't a copy/paste clone of it yet. I am new here. Are most people here just pumping to try to get a profit, or are you guys really excited about this coin? I see a neat feature in anonymity and built in trading, but haven't all PoS coins done poorly up to this point? Why do you guys think this coin will really take off?
Can you see merchants accepting something called "cloakcoin", and for wide acceptance, isn't anonymity a hindrance? Isn't it sometimes useful to trace a transaction to verify it, and so forth? Will this coin be relegated to undergound dealings?
Anyway, maybe what I am asking is old hat, not sure. I am new to altcoins, been only a BTC guy.
Hey Eaten, Welcome to Cloak! Yeah actually PoS coins have a serious issue in the scheme that the Cloak developers recently identified. The fix will be kept internal for Cloak and will keep the coin from doing the random forking which is most associated with PoS coins. The transactions between the buyer/seller are the business of only the buy/seller. If I give you cash - that's between you and me. Same concept. AFAIK lots of business owners prefer cash to creditcards/checks because of it's liquidity and anonymity. I believe the same principals can be applied to merchants online. Underground dealings will happen regardless of what we do but Cloak would definitely be the currency of choice vs the other options out there for the underground. |
