Scared? Don't use bitcoin banks. Use the software and merchants can only except real bitcoins.

It seems you have to transfer bitcins into their online account. I thought it was a bit more sophisticated where it automated payments using an online bitcoin wallet. I suppose it is slightly easier than going through a bitcoin exchange to get the money into the bank account you use a debit card with.

Didn't mention the "have to wait for confirmations to be secure" in the radio show. So I don't have to find it, what was the bitcoin debit card called? I'd like to know how that works and with what debit card provider it works with.

So, miscreanity, next month should show a sudden sharp rally for gold before the year's end, according to your thinking?
825  Economy / Economics / Re: Unlocked Gold thread. on: November 17, 2011, 11:48:09 PM
Acid tests seem to be commonly used.
826  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Microsoft Researchers Suggest Method to Improve Bitcoin Transaction Propagation on: November 17, 2011, 10:13:44 PM
Aren't people correct by pointing out that other p2p networks work just fine? And bitcoin works fine at the moment.
827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guy admits it is his job to destroy Bitcoin. on: November 17, 2011, 10:02:37 PM
I've met and know quite a few truly inspiring and incredibly intelligent people in the Bitcoin community. I'm absolutely mindblown by the resourcefulness and ingenuity of Satoshi and the Bitcoin design. But I swear to the scientific method, 90% of you are so gullible, paranoid, and are so profoundly disconnected from reality that I don't think I will ever be able to put words on it. Holy father of quantum mechanics...

How can you for even a second fall for this kind of shit?

You aren't the spammer are you?
828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guy admits it is his job to destroy Bitcoin. on: November 17, 2011, 09:07:32 PM
As if the information matters. They were just lonely people, spamming a survey for no good reason.
829  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Microsoft Researchers Suggest Method to Improve Bitcoin Transaction Propagation on: November 17, 2011, 09:02:31 PM
Many users that download the software wont know how to disable relaying or care. Not a problem.
830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guy admits it is his job to destroy Bitcoin. on: November 17, 2011, 08:55:52 PM
Some people are just childish and find these things funny. I've removed the stupid responses that I've seen. If people see more of them, you can send the ID to matthewmitchell at godofgod dot co dot uk.
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Short Bitcoin Survey (Optional questions and I will submit the results later) on: November 16, 2011, 07:46:04 PM
You don't have to disclose any information you do not wish to.
832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Short Bitcoin Survey (Optional questions and I will submit the results later) on: November 16, 2011, 12:44:40 AM
No you cannot.

Do you mean *NOW* you cannot?  I only warned people because I *saw* someone elses email address and responses.

I removed the email field. That was an optional field which was removed after I figured out it was all publicly available. All questions are optional on the survey. It is anonymous like a forum poll (unless you put your name in a field or something).

*WHEN* did you remove it?  After my message?  Do I have to go and fill it out again to check?

I removed it before I saw your message and I did mean "now", yes.

And it seems you can only see the results after you do the test.

Sorry, this is the first survey I actually deployed from this website.

I will likely submit the results on this topic as well as give out emails so either way should be fine.
835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Short Bitcoin Survey (Optional questions and I will submit the results later) on: November 15, 2011, 11:45:44 PM
Hello, I've made a survey for bitcoin. It is a short survey will optional questions. I will submit the results online when I receive enough responses.

http://www.kwiksurveys.com?u=BitcoinSurvey

Results should be publicly available here -> http://www.kwiksurveys.com/results-overview.php?survey_ID=OHKDGN_329545e7 (So don't put sensitive data in the text fields)

Thanks.
836  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin Is Not Gold on: November 15, 2011, 09:07:37 PM
Having a bitgold would make the market much more stable as it is linked to the more stable (But not very) gold markets. Obviously bitcoin is super volatile.

But bitcoin is just having growing pains.
837  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold: I smell a trap on: November 15, 2011, 09:06:08 PM
I skimmed through the website. You say interest rates in the US will definitely only go up from here and at the same time it is a good time to buy a house?... you mean not as an investment but because mortgages are cheap and so it's good if you want to be a home-owner? Well, they are also much harder to get, no?
838  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin Is Not Gold on: November 15, 2011, 08:37:07 PM
The post is not correct because people have already tried to create bitcoin representatives already. You are seeing people trying to create bitcoin banks to solve bitcoin's problems in the wrong way. Bitcoin doesn't need any banks from what I've learned but it needs improvements in the software to solve particular problems.

And gold can be used a trustworthy physical currency. I do believe bitcoin can be used to facilitate a new digital financial system.

It is conceivable that in the future bitcoin could also become a method for trading digital contracts as well but that would be back to the derivatives. The bitcoin system or a similar one could be used to trade contracts that relate to something such as gold but I don't know how digitally signed contracts could work exactly and how current legal systems would deal with them.

A "bitgold" would have problems and advantages I suppose.
839  Economy / Economics / Unlocked Gold thread. on: November 15, 2011, 08:23:28 PM
Since it appears cypherdoc will lock the other thread and I don't know when, I thought I'd create a new one.

First question for discussion. Many say gold miner stocks are very undervalued considering the bull market in gold with the miner stocks lagging behind. But with the costs of production increasing and (depending on your opinion this is) the negative outlook for the stock markets in general, is this a reasonable assessment? Should we be buying gold mining stocks instead of physical gold or should we limit our exposure to them?

Another question: Certain investors will recommend looking around for explorer stocks for the potential of massive rises over time. This comes with the risk that these explorers will not be able to start profitable mining operations. Is it a good idea to gamble with some of these more risky stocks?
840  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Martial law, prison/death camps and plastic coffins... on: November 12, 2011, 09:37:56 PM
I may consider purchasing one of those cryonic plans where I can freeze my brain or entire body in hope for future medical advances that will theoretically allow me and others to cheat death. "theoretically" however...

You can make monthly payments I think I once read or you can make one off payments. A one off payment for brain preservation starts at $90,000, I believe I once read. Worth it for a shot for a longer life?

What about a virus/plague?  You don't want to be burying those bodies directly in the ground, or they could continue to poison the area.  Placing any of the deceased directly into a plastic tub sounds like a lot better idea than leaving them laying around until they can be buried, or burying them in the ground without any protection where it could taint water supplies, etc.

I'm with RodeoX - it's better to be prepared for whatever happens.  Just because they are preparing for something like that to happen does not mean they are PLANNING for something like that to happen.

But look at the martial law training. Don't you dislike that? And surely FEMA re-location camps are also scary?
