@Matthew N. Wright: I've stayed out of this until now but I will give a recommendation: If someone is being provocative on the internet, just ignore them. If they do something out of order then just report it to a moderator. Don't get infuriated by this.

I was just told that the disaggregated Commitment of Traders report (http://www.cftc.gov/dea/futures/other_lf.htm) includes some double counting for the spread trades and can be a bit inaccurate. Does anyone have information on this or are the spread positions in the reportable categories accurate? I'm hoping someone might know a little more about this.

i'd like to start a subscription service similar to the other 2 guys on this forum.  i would charge whatever they are (haven't looked) and would send out emails 3x per week with charts etc.  I could supplement here too if thats what ppl want.

it would be based on my cycle theory combined with my years of experience, intuition, and knowledge of financial markets.

i would follow Bitcoin, gold/silver, stocks, commodities, and bonds.  for anyone who's followed my recommendations since the 8/11 gold thread can see that i've called every major corner in stocks, gold/silver, miners, etc, since then.  this has been no small feat.

is there any interest in this?  either indicate it here or in a pm to me.

I'm not saying you are being deceitful and I'm not trying to be deceitful but from what I remember you told everyone to short gold far too early. Do you have the links to the posts to back it up? I guess that's probably too much hard work to find those.

You say you have "experience, intuition, and knowledge of financial markets" but do you specifically in commodities? miscreanity seem to understand commodities quite well but you've not impressed me what what you have had to say. You appear to mostly look at charts.

Feel free to destroy what I've said.

Nothing, I guess firefox uses that port for some reason. On the home page, after javascript is activated, it should load an iframe, set up the navigation links properly, resize the pictures in the iframe correctly and display a quote with a fade effect. Nothing suspicious going on there so I guess malwarebytes doesn't like iframes. That seems to be the most likely reason.

When does this warning occur and on what page?

Thanks.

Hello, Hawker.

I think Malewarebytes is probably a paranoid program that doesn't like iframes or something similar. The website does manipulate iframes with javascript. The program might be afraid that it's loading a dangerous website when there is nothing malicious about my website.

What was the warning it gave?

I do think there is an inherent compassion with human beings that causes as pain at other's suffering. I do think it does become over-rided by over factors (and in some cases that may be a good thing) but it is still there.
767  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Selfless love... on: March 26, 2012, 11:22:35 PM
Well, would you maintain this compassion even if someone became a murderer?

Yes, and I have.  I've worked with murderers at my job.

And would you say this type of love is an end in itself, inherent to oneself, or is it chosen as a means?

I do not see the need for another thread.

Love is a longing for, no?

No, that's obsession, lust, loneliness, etc.

Are you not supposed to feel lonely if gone without a person you love for some time?

Loneliness and love are not the same.

Only your ego makes you feel lonely when a person you love is gone for some time.

With no ego involved (the ego can be systematically dismantled, just as it has been systematically constructed throughout the course of your life), there is no requirement to feel lonely when a person you love is gone for a long time.

I didn't say love and loneliness were the same but that love can cause loneliness. So is love, according to you, the feeling that one should care for another? Does that mean it is compassion?

Hello. For any libertarians here and those interested in Austrian economics I've recently released a new website: http://thelibertyportal.com

This website provides articles and videos from different sources and also has a chat and map feature. It is the web version of The Liberty Portal for Android and iOS. You can view the website and apps for completely free. The links to the apps are on the website.

Any feedback is great. I'm also looking for any suggestions on how to define Libertarianism and Austrian economics (separately) in the about section. If anyone has any feeds that they would like me to include please get to me.

Hope people enjoy.

Gold didn't actually follow stocks closely in 07-09. I seem to remember stocks peaked sooner, gold bottomed sooner and by the time stocks bottomed gold had already recovered.

MtGox deposits non-bitcoin currencies in a bank, they aren't a regulated bank themself, or am I wrong?

776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa’s top-secret Operations Center / Bitcoin is so much cooler & cheaper :) on: March 26, 2012, 01:48:32 PM
Maybe I'm wrong about this but shouldn't bitcoin mining become more efficient as it scales since more transactions can be put into each block? And the amount of mining power would rely upon the profitability of doing mining so that if the revenues for mining goes down, then that will make it less profitable and miners would leave the scene, reducing the amount of mining power? With more transactions there can be more transaction fees per block.

The data I got from bitcoincharts.com shows that recently the largest amount of trades in one second was 28. I guess it would have to get a lot, lot busier to make significant use of the servers. Of-course there are other HTTP requests and bitcoin operations to process.

But do they need 96GB of RAM and 32 processor cores with hyper-threading? How busy does MtGox actually get?

I'm quite shocked at the immense server costs they have. I don't know what they are doing with those servers. Does it make sense to anyone?
780  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running the bitcoin daemon on a server - Costs on: March 25, 2012, 02:35:21 AM
These cloud servers (I'll bunch VPS under cloud servers even while people say they are different they are essentially the same) are interesting since they are very flexible and it seems for most cases can be used as a dedicated server could be used. The cloud servers also are available at lower starting costs. I've read some scare stories about how cloud servers can be unreliable with a lot of downtime though it seems that's not the case with good companies. I assume the cloud servers are just as secure as dedicated servers are.

All you really need is the right provider. Anyone have comments about these different server solutions?
