841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCoin - A Litecoin Based Currency With a More Favorable Block Reward on: May 23, 2013, 09:25:09 PM
So, any exchange yet?? not even on crypsy?

soon I hope, from what i read in another thread

Soon but we don't want to go too soon, look at what happened to WDC and DGC after they got on an exchange right away. We have set a goal of ~June 16 to make it not to soon but still give us time to build infrastructure for the coin.

Who exactly has set this goal and where? We need to get on an exchange now, the other coins have died out and everyone already knows about it?

Remove that time goal, it wont benefit
Agreed we need on an exchange ASAP.  If being on an exchange were a concern then trading via google docs exchanges are in the same boat because thats only hurting the price.

lol, not a problem, there are 7 millions premined coins, ask someone to donate that amount to you, it's a piece of cake.
nothing was pre-mined
844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1400 GLD gone, new wallet.dat created by GLDcoin-qt.exe (any reason why ?) on: May 23, 2013, 06:48:48 PM
Hello everybody

So today I lost about 1400GLD, I am not very happy about that, I am a little pissed actually. Well it's ok, I'll relax ^^ nevermind after all they have no value  (but I was so happy I could get so many coins by just mining them  Smiley).

Anyway now, I would like to know : what happened ?? What have I done wrong ?? Am I the only one to have this problem ?

- When I opened the gldcoin-qt client I saw my account was empty and I also saw that my address had changed.
- I checked inside the debug.log and i saw weird things ( maybe it's not so weird but I don't understand them) like :

Quote
RefreshWallet
[...]
Flushing wallet.dat
[...]
Flushed wallet.dat 9ms

[edit: It did not look good to me but after doing some some research I now understand that the "flush wallet thing" means that the program is making the wallet lighter / faster . (something like that, am I  right ?)]

This is who you NEED to export your priv keys, and need to have a backup of your wallet.  Likely something corrupted your wallet - could be antivirus, etc.  So it created a new wallet.

Everything look normal on my address when I checked here : EEw56ZzX6wkx6dVVuMj5ozvsggNjGCf2fv

I have
Balance: 1393.59123902 GLD
Transactions in: 279

But can't "touch" them...Is there anything we can do ? Is there anyway I could get my old wallet back ? if not did anybody encounter this problem before ?
Does anybody have an idea about what happened ?

This is who you NEED to export your priv keys, and need to have a backup of your wallet.  Likely something corrupted your wallet - could be antivirus, etc.  So it created a new wallet.  Not the first time this has happened, as it happened to me with Litecoin once.  Luckily I had a backup.  I backup and export the private keys BEFORE I do anything - always - with any coin i use.
845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PETITION] ***Gold Coin*** Lets Get GLD Listed On Exchange! on: May 23, 2013, 03:59:40 PM
I for one am excited to be able to exchange other currencies into BTC, and BTC into GLD.  The name is just sick.  Gold transcends all walks of life.  Gold has a future.

The only gold I will not touch again is gold futures - burned to many times LOL
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PETITION] ***Gold Coin*** Lets Get GLD Listed On Exchange! on: May 23, 2013, 03:33:39 PM
Why do you panic guys?

Give me some rational reasons, please!

No panic here... An exchange means that it can be converted, which means websites etc can use it for payment.  Now if everyone goes on there and tries to sell, thats all she wrote.  Just sell enough to make markets and don't sell too low.  Panic runs rampant in cryptos.

847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldcoin pool http://gld.vircurpool.com on: May 23, 2013, 03:14:37 PM
Anyone know of any free  or otherwise PPS pool source/software for scrypt coins?  lite litecoinpool.org etc?  If so I will setup a PPS pool

Also what makes a stable pool?  would say a dual quad with say 16GB ram be enough juice?  What kind of bandwidth is needed?
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [PETITION] ***Gold Coin*** Lets Get GLD Listed On Exchange! on: May 23, 2013, 02:41:41 PM
Gold coin has been a coin that has been a community effort.  It is more profitable to mine than Litecoin, and it needs to be listed on an exchange.

Haters are gonna hate - why?  Because they know the name is Gold - And they know it.

Ask them to add more coins email: support@cryptsy.com

The Crypto Exchange is not mine . Use the email above to send your remarks !

Can you please add GLDcoin (Gold Coin) and Nibble?

Lot of people are trying to trade GLD.  We need an exchange for this.

Nibble had an awesome release, verified no pre-mining etc, and has 21 million coins like Bitcoin, with faster confirmations.
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: R.I.P. WDC on: May 22, 2013, 11:10:55 PM
Neither offer any benefit.  Transaction confirmation's are only needed for big $$ transactions, otherwise the transaction is instant.  A business just needs to have software to check for double spends.  I can transfer Bitcoin into coinbase right now, and trade it away within 1 minute.  All Digicoin did was try and mimic the fair start of Nibble and lower the transaction confirmation time.

856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The myth of transaction speed relating to confirmations and block time... on: May 21, 2013, 01:45:44 PM
In the real world, with custom software that knows how to watch for double spends, and instantly realizes that a transaction has been send to the address (take Coinbase for instance - which will be a major player in the USA at least).

For example, I send BTC to Coinbase, and I can trade it within seconds.  If I somehow double spent and the transaction was invalid, there is a holding period for withdrawal's, and my withdrawn funds would be reversed.  Same for online transactions.

With low sub <= minute block times and confirmations, attacks that compromise the blockchain are easily accomplished (AKA pwned).  When this is made public with proof, because it has already been done, good luck with that.  Ever wonder why Bitcoin or Litecoin developers didn't use low block times?  Were they idiots?  No, they knew the dangers.

So to summarize, good luck, and don't invest too much in pie in the sky coins..
857  Other / Beginners & Help / PPS Pool Software/Source - Where Can I Get It? on: May 20, 2013, 06:26:56 PM
I want to build a pool for a scrypt coin, and i wan't the pool to be PPS - not PPLNS, P2Pool.  Anyone know of a good one with a decent simple front end (like litecoinpool.org or similar)
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCoin - A Litecoin Based Currency With a More Favorable Block Reward on: May 20, 2013, 06:24:46 PM
can someone update list of pools for DLG?
still looking for professional pool like dontmine.me

me too:). I'm looking forward to a more professional pool. trying to get coinotron.com to do it.
I am trying to get my hands on PPS pool software/sources for Gold Coin - if anyone knows where I may find some (not PPLNS) let me know.
859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCoin - A Litecoin Based Currency With a More Favorable Block Reward on: May 20, 2013, 04:41:29 AM
How is GLD so cheap when there's less coins then WDC

There newer. And people are still ranting about the large amount originally released even though the wealth was shared.

Could you explain to me the differences between GLD and WDC since I here them used in the same sentence alot and people are for one or the other?
I don't want to bash worldcoin, even though I see its supporters, likely aligned with the creator bashing and spreading false rumors about other coins in threads, but I heard of a type of attack that can be used against the quick blocktime/confirmations.  Not sure if its true, but you have to ask yourself - why didn't bitcoin or litecoin have such low block times?  Anyone could have done it at any time, but never did.  Why?  its a very simple thing to do.

May be a great coin who knows.

GLDcoin was revolutionary in that it was the first front loaded coin, done so to spur an economy through donations, giveaways etc.  The Creator of Gold Coin has given away nearly 300K in coins.  I myself have given away around 50K.  It was also revolutionary to release the coin in the Noob section in order to give small miners a chance before the big miners attacked it and caused the orphan fest we see with new releases.

If a release doesn't have orphans, then its not really being mined that hard...
860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Support] GLDCoin Exchange on: May 20, 2013, 04:27:24 AM
I can hardly give away the 700 I have you want to buy my 700 GLD grahams?
No coins ever sell for what they sell on an exchange prior to release to said exchange.  Once they are on an exchange, they are worth a hell of a lot more.
