841  Economy / Economics / Re: $1200 Bitcoin by the 2nd week of January 2014 on: December 23, 2013, 04:18:26 PM
Do you know someone within the Chinese gvmt who said they are going to now allow BTC transactions with financial institutions??
842  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best/fastest way to buy BTC with $USD on: December 23, 2013, 04:13:58 PM
The only way I've been able to successfully buy with USD is through Coinbase, but yes it does a while to get your bank acct linked and then a while after that to receive your BTC (4 business days).  I haven't had luck with any other site.  If you can find someone on craigslist/localbitcoins that might be your fastest way to get some BTC.

Only other way I've gotten BTC is selling stuff on CoinGig.  But again, you have to wait for the item to arrive and for them to confirm receiving it to get the BTC released.

This guy is now trying to hide his info:

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tim-trickett-sr/11/594/370

He made his linked in profile info private, and has disabled his facebook.  Now I think He is legitimately scared because he saw on here that people were planning on contacting his work.  We have also confirmed he has been posting on this thread trying to misdirect us and make us think it was a "case of stolen identity."  He used "coinuser12" and "btcbuyer99" usernames on these threads.

I would say still report these thefts to your local PD/ic3.gov but I would say go ahead and contact his work too.  They have a "Code of Ethics" and I would say he has violated that pretty bad.
845  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin crashing or slowly deflating, or just a lull? on: December 17, 2013, 11:52:40 AM
Seeing the price fluctuation yesterday it seems more likely its just price manipulation by the big players,  who are increasing their btc count before the next big rally.
846  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin crashing or slowly deflating, or just a lull? on: December 16, 2013, 02:11:31 PM
Seeing bitcoin crash down from $1100+ was not surprising.  Obviously it couldn't keep up an exponential growth pattern.  But do people think it is still going to grow in value (in terms of equiv. USD) or deflate to some lower value.  I would like to hope it would continue to grow slowly, but I fear if people stop speculating with BTC, a lot of people wont be interested.

The CEO of PayPal just gave in interview where he basically said they wont be dealing with BTC until there is some price stability.  Companies aren't going to risk using a currency that could drop 25-50% in just hours.  That could represent lost tens of millions in a day for a company like paypal.  He did however say he likes it as a store of wealth for places like argentina who are dealing with hyperinflation.  So these CEO's arent against BTC, they are just not ready to accept it... yet.
850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Student loan of 1000$; What currency would YOU invest in? on: December 11, 2013, 04:12:51 AM
I'd say 50-50 on BTC and LTC. You won't go wrong with that combo
851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ready to bounce back to a new high? on: December 10, 2013, 09:50:40 PM
Yes and I agree legal protection will no doubt help its wider acceptance.  People right now like the idea of their credit card "protection" or PayPals "buyer protection."  I think that ties in with the problem that if you aren't a bitcoin expert, you could easily send BTC and get ripped off.  I think once people can expect to use BTC without getting ripped off (and it becomes easier to acquire) then we can definitely expect to see value go to the $2k range very soon.  Probably in a matter of months.  To get past that, I believe some sort of mainstream business will have to come on board.
852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BEWARE eBay bitcoin scam artist Tim Trickett (trick506) on: December 10, 2013, 08:29:55 PM
Definitely not stolen identity.  This guy was ready and willing to message me all day and quote the eBay terms of service saying "the physical item were just as described."  He just wanted to play games and try to steal using an eBay loophole.  Hes not trying to hide his identity at all, just trying to use various sites to scam people.

And yes there is solid evidence that btcbuyer99 is in fact this guy "Timothy Trickett."  Im not sure how to trace IP addresses but I know some people can.  If its coming out of Fitchburg, MA then its definitely the scammer.
853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ready to bounce back to a new high? on: December 10, 2013, 07:43:27 PM
I think 10k does sound high, but when you think about how much it has grown with still a relatively small amount of people using it, I think its possible.  Just imagine say Facebook or some other mainstream business starts to integrate BTC into their payments.  Bitcoin use could double, even quadrouple overnight.  I really think that is what it will take to push BTC beyond the 1-2k limit.
854  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin ready to bounce back to a new high? on: December 10, 2013, 05:13:47 PM
With this past weekends crash I have to admit I was a little worried about my BTC, but it appears to have just been a quick knee jerk reaction to some stories out of China.  Nothing effected the way people like you and me can use BTC, only banks are not allowed to deal with them in China.  Obviously this has no bearing on how they will continue to work from here on out, and China may ever reverse this in the future.

With that said, who thinks BTC is ready to bounce back to new highs?  It sure appears new people are coming on board every day and the popularity definitely hasn't gone away in the least bit.  If anything I think "crashing" to only a low of about $700 reinforces how strong BTC really is right now.  Currently its back up to the mid $900 range.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is the biggest reason stopping general public from converting to bitcoin. on: December 09, 2013, 09:58:50 PM
Problem 1)  People get wrapped up in understanding how they work, which really isn't of importance to most people

Problem 2) People dont know how to get them.

Problem 3) People out there scamming constantly will leave a bad taste in peoples mouth and in my opinion is one of the biggest problems.  How will your average Joe start using it if they have to constantly worry about being ripped off?

With that said, I think that only a fraction of the potential people using them are currently using them.  Really once you learn the basics its no different than using any payment app or other method.  I think anyone who can figure out facebook can use bitcoin.  So in the long run, I think BTC is going to keep spreading
856  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BEWARE eBay bitcoin scam artist Tim Trickett (trick506) on: December 09, 2013, 02:06:14 PM
Yes I did eventually, although some did not.  And yeah I later realized there is no reason he would need to withhold images of the real public codes that he was sending out for "security purposes".  Anyway, I learned eBay and Bitcoins DO NOT MIX!
857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BEWARE eBay bitcoin scam artist Tim Trickett (trick506) on: December 09, 2013, 01:35:26 PM

Clearly he state "1 (one) bitcoin" is included.  Obviously anyone who purchased these expected to get a bitcoin with the item.
858  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase is it down now? 8PM EST US. on: December 07, 2013, 01:49:37 AM
Time to panic? I just saw an article where someone bought a Tesla with BTC today!  How can it crash this hard with such good progress being made?

Yeah I can't get the buy page to load unfortunately

feel free to email me.  kendostick89@yahoo.com
This is what I know:

His home address is:

Timothy Trickett
11 Bennett Rd
Fitchburg, MA 01420

One of my eBay items had to be returned for a refund, and this was the return address, although the original package return address said San Diego, CA.

His email address from eBay and Paypal are: tjt506@gmail.com, and tim.trickett2@gmail.com.

This is potentially his linked in profile:
www.linkedin.com/pub/tim-trickett-sr/11/594/370
If its not his then some other guy by the same exact name and from Mass. viewed my profile.

I've never used etsy so I don't know how their return process works.  If your out a lot of money go report it to your local police.  They told me to come down to the station since it was over $1000 and that is a felony in Maine.  File a report with the internet crime complaint center and give all the info you can.

What makes you think hes posted on here?
