imagine what the ASICS are gonna do to things like ETC, and the non-conformative forks of XMR that will be suddenly created and kept alive by people who fear change....

I wonder which way it will go with the ASIC and ETC.....
842  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: April 01, 2018, 08:25:25 AM
You are a good example of which contradicts itself.. You created a topic to complicate life...and He speaks " the Merit hasn't been working well yet" What's wrong with you guys? And so many people supported you ..People with good status, like to complicate life! Because in most cases, they support each other and on Newbie I'm pretty sure they don't care!

I'm not contradicting myself. I've listened to what people have said and that I have agreed with some of their points. That's why I gave JaredKaragen a Merit, he brought something to my attention that I hadn't realised was a problem. A quick look at his posts tells me there is something amiss in the mining sections if he isn't getting Merit. That needs to be addressed.

Yep; tis' why I voiced it.

Another way to look at it:

We have the iTrader system.... yet, look at how many people buy and sell from 0 feedback people; and still leave no feedback.    It's an inherent nature of people to be lazy;  in fact, I remember back in the old vbulletin from ~07' when people got +REP...  it was much easier then to just tick a box;  not fill out a form as it is with merit.
843  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: April 01, 2018, 06:34:46 AM
FWIW just reading this thread;  I have only received merit just once since the new implementation;  and gone from Hero to Legendary (apparently)...  Just noticed a few minutes ago when I saw the huge addition to the user stats.

I don't consider myself a shitposter (especially given the sig campaign i am a part of that people seem to despise);  I am pretty much straight to the point, and offer help and assistance when I can, if I can.   I have uploaded many miner scripts for free open public use.

If the original thoughts on requiring merit really happens;  I fear it would impact my abilities here in a negative way possibly....  I don't post all over this board... pretty much just post in a few subforums.

Look at my merit.   Hasn't moved much in the last how long?  Yet I am active, and contributing in many ways....
844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 01, 2018, 04:30:43 AM
yeah nvidia is way better

with the enemy miner its 20 percent faster yet the calculator says
six 1070 should get 54 mhs but i get 64mhs and sometime 84 at the pool

even my vega 4 card rig caps at 45mhs

nvidia is hands down better with enemy miner

Im running the enemy miner found off the cryptominingblog.   ~14-22Mh from a single 1070 and single 980...  doesn't seem too bad.

Doesn't exactly calculate as profitable compared to what ive been mining, but i figure I have to try mine-and-hold at least once.
845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: March 31, 2018, 06:22:34 AM
I am just looking into Crypto-Bridge.  I like what I see so far...

I wonder if it would be a good "mine-to" location for coins like RVN that I don't want to sync a block chain for....
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: March 31, 2018, 01:23:57 AM
For all the old timers. It seems like it's Summer 2014 all over again and we are mining Darkcoin on X11 algo using sgminer with our R9 280X using the same amount of power and making similiar profit as today.
Yep; same, this is reminding me of when people were saying nvidia was garbage yet lyra2 was paying oah soo well.....

There's always slumps in any market.  The key is having a business plan that accommodates a negative period of business.
847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BUBBLE || Decentralize yourself P2P social media [IPFS] Experimental on: March 30, 2018, 08:50:07 PM
Me personally, I've been holding onto whatever I can afford and snag up....

I have made profit on bubble in the past, but I see now where things are going and like the future.

*edit*

Ever thought of listing on more than just yobit?   Crypto-Bridge might be a good idea if its worthwhile...
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: March 30, 2018, 08:32:44 PM
I think I am late to the mining World but, is it still possible to still set-up a rig and still make profit?

Sure it is. But the ROI is much much longer.

Actually  ya don't understand what are you talking about.  Right now we can see levels of zero profitability for those guys who already have the farms and whose electricity is very  chip.

Maybe if you're trying to mine with older gpu's.  I don't mine with anything older than a 1070ti.  Those are still profitable even at today's coin prices.  I wouldn't buy any more of them even at msrp, but I'm not ready to sell them yet either.

May be. Let's  estimate. 1070 and 1070ti are  the  best ones now.
They ' ll give  you $0.5 profit per day on $0.06 kwt/h electricity from wall according what to  mine coins.
That's it. It is a profit still i agree. But zero profitability is very near.

Ya can argue that there are some shitcoins with better perfomance. This hour or yesterday. May be. But it is not mining.

you crazy..... I earn over $1/day on a 1070 on a long standing algo.....
You must also take into account others' mining strategies may not be the same inside the box thinking that you are using.

if you can max out a 10KwH generator on petrol;  you can definitely be profitable.     Food for thought.
849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for a rig frame on: March 30, 2018, 08:29:45 PM
If you know how to handle tools then 3-5 meters of 20x20 T-slot or V-slot aluminum profile plus some screws and brackets, couple hours of work (incl. cutting to size) - and you're all set.

yep;  agreed.

I have a bunch of aluminum c and L channel stock, and a riveter.   I am just too damned lazy and want something with less headache myself Wink
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining motherboard - Onda B250 BTC-D8P - Anyone tried ? on: March 30, 2018, 08:27:29 PM
Very cool. I am liking these boards. They run stable and are dead simple to setup.
I look forward to your results on some of those older cards.

5 cards no problem.  gonna try some more later today.

470,550Ti,650,650Ti,960SSC   =)  Breaking out the old guys for this test.

They all worked like a champ.  Installed a driver for the 470; and it was able to handle all the cards except the 960.  for that I needed to install it's nvidia package as well.

Broke out a GTX275;  no dice.  Driver is too old and doesn't play well with the newer GPU's in the system.  Always Code42.   No bother on that GPU.

as far as miner apps:  There's very little available.   I've been running XMR-stak on the ONDA since its been on.   It can utilize all the cuda GPU's because it uses its own library DLL/functions;  not "cuda ver X" you have installed and available to use.

Each new GPU you install, you must boot to windows, and wait for all the device manager operations to finish before proceeding.   I always reboot before mining.  Just to make sure configs are saved for the pcie bus in the HAL.   Simply swapping 2 cards positions makes the system freak out and need to reconfig itself.

So far;  aside from the known that the 470 is a heat-pump;  (and not having my kill-a-watt meter) It's been pretty stable.    I like this board.   Very much.   Ordered a frame from Spotswood and submitted payment yesterday I believe.    I am using a 80Plus 1000w power supply on it presently, but Ill probably swap that one out for my coolmax 1600w.

I've been saving $$$ and have a bunch of friends who owe me cash as well, so when the new card generation hits the shelf, I am just going to buy and populate this thing.   The last two times, I should have, and lost out big time....    I don't mind if I loose out this time, cause Ill have some shiny new hardware in my hands anyways.
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: March 30, 2018, 08:18:59 PM
Simple fix:  Build time into the calculation/algo.   Have it act as a gatekeeper and salt to the results as they are passed between algos.

This way the timebase is decoded and verified out of the result, as well as an easy gauge to keep asic play out.

New devices will come out;  yes;  such as new model GPU, faster more efficient, etc..... But that's a steady predictable progression.  ASICS are quite the opposite.

Sure; people could slow down the asic..... but what will that give, a little wattage saved;  but in the end; is it worth the hardware?  probably not.
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for a rig frame on: March 30, 2018, 03:05:57 AM
Also consider talking to @Spotswood

I just ordered a frame for my Onda B250 D8P from him.  Phillipma has done a review on his rig frames as well.

"xevan" algo seems to be down.

[2018-03-29 21:59:16] Starting on stratum+tcp://xevan.mine.zpool.ca:3739
[2018-03-29 21:59:26] stratum_subscribe timed out
[2018-03-29 21:59:26] ...retry after 30 seconds

However, most other algos seem Ok.

hrmm not sure... seems ok for me...

is this still not working?

port responding fine here.

thanks for everything JK!!

Do you have a blog or anything like that?

Nothing besides a youtube I upload complete randomness to sometime.   I only use FB to talk to family across the US, and have never been much of a blogger =)

Hi,
Why is there so many immature Ninja coins from 4-5 days ago and don't seems to move at all: https://www.zpool.ca/?address=112ZEZdP9CuawJEuDHPZqSxbTqr1wpGWkU

857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nanopool and monero7... on: March 26, 2018, 10:45:14 PM
I would think so, but there has been no discussion on the topic from them....

I already have xmr stak 2.30 running on my XMR machines; so hopefully the switchover goes well for us....

diff is starting to really breakaway from the price;  so ASICS are definitely on right now =(
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: March 26, 2018, 06:48:48 AM
actually;  just extremely recently, an updated version with source exists for monero7;  Now the question goes;  which pools will be following the fork as well?
859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nanopool and monero7... on: March 26, 2018, 06:39:37 AM
Does anyone have word if nanopool will support the new monero7 algo?

Whats the best bet do you guys think?
860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: March 26, 2018, 05:56:08 AM
Any tips regarding the upcoming monero fork?
Are guys gonna move your ati rigs towards the new algo for monero? What about the price of the monero? I hope it will rise.

No one know what's going to happen
Some people say it will decrease diff because the asics, but a lot of people will jump to monero at the same time...

My bet is that hashrate will drop precipitously once XMR forks, if only because all those botnets of compromised servers will get shut out.

Just point rigs to NH and the cryptonightv7 marketplace which is already available now.

Claymore has already confirmed that he will get his miner ready before the fork.

I wouldn't mind swinging the NVIDIA farm also mine cryptonightv7 ... wonder if tpruvot gets his ccminer updated.
I believe xmr-stak planned on implementing it as well...  That one is open source Wink  I like it for that.
