Here is an interesting piece from J. Lopp regarding "real" vs "paper" bitcoins:
https://blog.keys.casa/securing-bitcoins-scarcity/

TL;DR loans through multisig as a suggested solution plus a "physical" ETF.

Nice to see Lopp  put in the effort to spell out what people have been too lazy to ferret out for themselves.

Here is an older good read.

Tight ends are getting to be like tall wide receivers nowadays.

There is a tendency of teams pushing big Wideouts to the TE position and bulking them up, the myriad of reasons not being just the lower cost to the team as much as of the combination of a higher quality pool of TE's.

Well accepting shitcoins as collateral for loans no matter the % collateralized was dumb as fuck in the first place, but noooooooobody cared

Bull bitcoin does it right : https://www.bullbitcoin.com/blog/why-bull-bitcoin-is-immune-from-ftx-collapse-and-crypto-contagion

Many crypto exchanges and service providers were trusting FTX with their users’ money, causing users who had no business with FTX to lose money as well.

The entire reason bitcoin exists is to remove trust yet every scum sucking scammer out there tries to weasel around this fact.

Then every low brow in the world that says they understand bitcoin (they be crypto bro)  cry like little girls when what they ignored as a fact turns out to be true.

I have ZERO pity for the fools that haven't been listening to what satoshi tried to teach them.

If you don't let customers make withdrawals you can't be insolvent.gif

There is no better time than the present to stage some sort of fantastic boating accident.

Chief Executive Officer Derar Islim admitted that withdrawal requests exceeded current liquidity at Genesis Global Capital, the lending arm; but made it clear that Genesis's spot and derivatives trading and custody businesses “remain fully operational.”

The contagion of Genesis lending issues has already hit one large firm, as Gemini Trust Co., the cryptocurrency platform run by the Winklevoss brothers, has halted withdrawals from its Earn program:

Nice word selection there.

Doesn't say anything about being solvent.

The King Daddy still remains, and is still thriving. 🕶

yes, true, but, be honest, where is the "alternative financial system" based on bitcoin?
It's possible that just sending coins from point A to point B would suffice (and being a putative 'store of value'), but Satoshi envisioned bitcoin banks, if I recall correctly.

13 years have passed, everyone got scars, but there is no "system", would you agree?

At this point, i am not sure if it would be possible as many were trying and so far nothing major had happened. Maybe soon  Cool.
BTW, it is not the fault of bitcoin itself, just human folly and greed (and infatuation with supposedly more 'advanced' shitcoins).

Plus, we need a mechanism that explicitly prevents fake bitcoin 'printing'. No entity should be able to say that they have bitcoin if they don't have a "physical one", and if not, then, as someone said here (sorry can't recall the name) it is "stonks 2.0".

EDIT: btw, here is an interesting article suggesting that we should increase our bitcoin usage and not only focus on hodling:
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/for-bitcoin-to-be-true-digital-cash

. The governments of the world do not want it yet.

You would need a true internationally regulated set of exchanges to make it work.

And like it or not no one knows if LN network kills off mining or helps mining down the road.

Could be

BTC = big bond 100000 dollar note

LTC/DOGE  = smaller money.

Doge has solved the what happens if rewards vanish
Doge has ever decreasing inflation rate.

100% year 1
  10% year 11
    1% year 101

Just saying that we have an issue with btc that makes fear. rewards are next to nothing in 2060

JJG's correct, you make alot serious shitcoin bullshit arguments.

His vision was everyone having the power to be their own bank with no-one else being involved, thereby being protected from the scum sucking bankers.

Been saying the bolded since the first "institutional" involvement but always got shouted down because "thats ngu Br0".

But of course it isn't, it is exactly as I have been repeating for years and I will once again post the quote.

Diluting the 21 million is their ONLY real attack vector and people not keeping their own keys are playing into their hands.

At one point in time Cutler had the best WR duo in the league when Brandon Marshall was in his prime and Alshon Jeffrey was a young up and coming star.  He also had some solid TE help with Martellus Bennett ( I'm not sure I spelled that right but I'm too lazy to google it).

I always thought Alshon never got the credit he deserved at that time and Bennett and Marshal were both a bit over rated.

Lately i'm thinking about DEX, came across some tweet mentioning THORchain, any bro got some experience with this?

IIRC it was hacked and then the devs ignored the hacker explaining how to fix it and then it got hacked again, so yeah go ahead and put funds on there. Cheesy

You guys do know that this SBF shit stain was an insider in a poker site that was cheating rite?

I have no clue why everyone is even remotely surprised.

Well It was fun while it lasted and got me back into the game, 5 game win streak broken by Hampus today by destroying me with LT just like he did week 1 !!! Pretty funny the only games LT did anything were against me. Not that it matters I would have lost to everyone this week.

And he did it without a QB !!!!!!

Crazy indeed.. He's done literally nothing besides week 1 and now this week, lol.

Sorry about no QB btw, super busy weekend and never expected Murray to be out, yahoo app on my phone seems broken too so will have to try and fix that before this Sunday.

EDIT; Most .500+ teams lost this week, should make for an interesting 2nd half of the season Cheesy

The game was started and it still had Murray labeled as questionable so not sure if yahoo had a glitch or not but at least it didn't cost you. Smiley

Yes I think LT is back now, Saturday is just the thing the Colts needed to rally around!

Unfortunately for them they are going to run into a steamroller next week after the fucking the Eagles took today.

And yeah its cool most of the lower ranked teams won against higher this week, always fun when its close!
913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: November 15, 2022, 05:27:35 AM

I couldn’t stand him and still can’t. Even when he was playing pretty well for us (which was very much just here and there), Jay is just an impossible guy to like. He’s kinda like the Paul brothers to me, just smug and arrogant and way overhyped.

Ohh, I agree! I didn't think he was ever any good but he could put up fantasy numbers just because all he did was throw long all day no matter what the coverage! Cheesy

Looks like I chose poorly with my RB lineup this week. Smiley

It'd be funny if HHampuz wins against you without a QB Smiley

Hahaha, yeah it would!

2 Players remaining
Chance to win 4%

It'd not have happened if it weren't for Sam, though. But... whatever.

They were developed and coded by someone so how can you be so sure that "someone" hasn't left any backdoors?  Cool

Open source code.

Don't be so naive. Who can compare the actual code running vs the published open source? There are people maintaining it, updating it, hosting it. It can be hacked too. The author or some malicious admin for example can edit or recompile the code adding backdoors and you will have no idea it's not the original one.  Cool

Actually there is more of a danger of libraries that are contained being backdoored and slipping through. Wink

I'm fully aware of attack vectors.

Huh Post for those that don't understand commas?

I'm curious, does anybody actually still take this guy seriously?

He's become a parody of himself, and makes bitcoin look pretty silly to people who aren't maxis.

Its not about the current price of BTC so much as how vapid his pseudo-philosophical cheerleading one-liners are.

Much like Beyond Chicken, its not the kind of content I would care to rally behind.

I'm curious who the two goobers that look like they want a dick stuck in their mouths are and what they mean by the chicken crap (tendies referance?).

I dont keep up or know influencer (if thats who they are) bullshit.

I need this entire thing explained to me.

It was pretty funny watching a crowd of Germans singing Country Roads. Smiley

Added: Colt McCoy playing, weird that Murray still says "Questionable" on my screen.

Going from tweet to tweet I'm even reading about scams I didn't know about, like "play to earn" "game" Axie Infinity. As a long time gamer I spend to play. I spend on high end computer hardware, on games, on electricity, on time. It has never earned me anything, and that's how it should be. Unless becoming some kind of journalist/youtuber I mean (a cousin of mine is actually a pro gamer).

How anyone can think that thousands of people farming in a not even good game is anything but a Ponzi is beyond me.

Apparently something as simple as sound money doesn't bring the sheep in to fleece so they need to keep inventing dog and pony shows.
