921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU fans started failing, had to improvise a little on: February 21, 2018, 11:44:01 PM
I have a mini-itx Gigabyte 1070 which has a bad fan, it only starts if I push it by hand, and at some point it stops for some reason, I've never been around when it stops.

I tried pulling the rottary part off, cleaning and oiling up the middle pin, and it didn't make a difference (it wasn't very dirty to begin with).

Right now I have another fan working on top of it, but I didn't dismantle the shroud, and it's fine, but it's winter time and I'm keeping the mining PC on the balcony.

Do you guys have any suggestion on how to fix this fan? as I will probably want to eventually sell this card.

sell the card, or replace the fan.... that's the early sign that your about to have cooling issues.

@QuintLeo;  yeah, exactly!  That's why I mentioned the heatsync removal being necessary in most instances... plus;  it gives you a chance to re-paste that GPU that has dried and worn out it's OEM compound.

I personally typically re-paste after 1 year of mining.  I tend to see a temp drop when I do.

@CrackFoo, I'm using the following...

cpuminer.exe -a tribus -o stratum+tcp://tribus.mine.zpool.ca:8533 -u DG1FxNwEf9nczP9i... -p c=DNR -t4

is the algo switch and the tribus url both needed?

Thanks,
Frank

yeah, you are correct.  for congruentcy id add the algo to your password:
c=DNR,tribus

each port has its own subdomain on the URL
923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: JK's Manual Miner for zPool.ca V2.0 on: February 21, 2018, 11:29:44 PM
I'm not sure I understand this part:

Quote
Once you mine more than one or two solid for a stretch, youll start to notice the differences between them, and correlate profitability to the size of the split in the two lines.

-One or two different algorithms? or coins? I thought on zpool we could only mine the algo and the pool picks the coin.
-What is the split in the 2 lines?

Sorry to keep cluttering the thread Sad

no worries.   Algos;  once you mine this one for a while, you will notice the graph as your earnings add up.  How it behaves when profitability is low, and how it behaves when profitability is high.

Once you mine a different algo like lyra2v2, you will see a whole new pattern of earnings accrual.

The two lines I refer to are the two lines in your wallet page graphs on the left.  The thin line being the "total earned" or "total unpaid", and the solid one/area below it being the "total confirmed" or "balance".

you can only count on the "balance" as a final earnings you are guaranteed cause its already been sold to the exchange or any miners wanting to be paid in whatever coins we mine... but total unpaid gets you a pretty close guess based on past TX's/sales.
924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: February 21, 2018, 11:22:16 PM
@Romi and @Tadeus
It's a Sapphire rx470 reference, with blower. So, no dual bios, and no way to see inside without removing the blower Sad

After looking at mine, they DO have dual BIOS - though the switch is not real obvious and tiny.

I wish it would be the same for me, but I triple checked and found nothing.
Maybe different batch from yours ?
Would you be kind enough to take a picture ?

Even better: Click for some google search results
925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][FlexFee™][SegWit] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: February 21, 2018, 11:19:54 PM
I wanted to mine some Litecoin in the last couple of days and for the first two days everything was all right. But after that, I restarted my miners and I got way less than before. I also repeatedly get the message that zpool has run out of LTC currency but the message goes away again after some time. However the last block that zpool found, was 4 days ago. Can it be that zpool completely ran out of LTC and the message goes away by mistake? Here's my address in case it helps: LTzVdcWKmg2pEUTuwTXN1mSPhWMtDUCABM

LTC is getting higher and higher in diff;  so block luck can play a bigger role to weather the pool has enough LTC to pay the earnings or not.

LTC isn't the type of altcoin to just be dropped off the pool;  so feel free to keep mining it;  just know that it will take a block to be found for you to get paid.
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: JK's Manual Miner for zPool.ca V2.0 on: February 21, 2018, 10:37:14 AM
Ah, gotcha.

At the time that I checked it was:

1000mh = 0.06921btc (24hours actual)

According to my hashrate reported by zpool @ 15mh would be

15mh = 0.00103815 btc per 24 hours.

It's only been 9.5 hours since my last payout and im already at 0.00074723 BTC (total unpaid balance) so it looks ahead of schedule.

The one thing im noticing with this algo is my actual balance is still quite low with majority of shares pending at immature or at exchange.

Is this happening for you too?

Yep;  and different algos/ports will show different ratios of "overhead" earnings in the works.    Once you mine more than one or two solid for a stretch, youll start to notice the differences between them, and correlate profitability to the size of the split in the two lines.

Yep;  people tend to just act without thinking often.  It's one of the reasons I left my customer support job running a business to go work as a mechanic years back.
I quit being a mechanic when I started taking over jobs at the auto shop and having to deal with customers, parts ordering etc.

Here he is removing network support of his coin; further impacting it in ways he does not see ahead to.    Some people have to learn the hard way I guess.

*edit just looked* rapture coin.   Name makes sense now.

Mine is also showing almost no growth in a while.
https://imgur.com/a/2kE2P

Looking ok here.... just bumps in profitability is my guess.  Some ports can have long runs of bad luck;  especially on high diff coins or if prices fluctuate.

Would like to find out whether all miners support the purposeful and intentional degradation of a charity focused coin (RAP) by the atheists at zpool.ca?

Zpool is using your hashpower to target our coin, and then dump it on exchanges. It is having a severely negative effect on our value right now, and for what reason? Why do they autoswitch to RAP when there are other, much more profitable coins to mine? We have attempted to remedy this issue with them, but now it's clear that their strategy is solely an attempt to sabotage our project because of our religious affiliation.

Does everyone on Zpool want to lose out on profits in order to destroy our charity focused coin? Is it more important to hate Christians for their religion, than to help people in need worldwide?

We have some atheists and agnostics on our team, and they are horrified that someone promoting atheism would go so far as to attempt to sabotage a coin based on religion.

If Zpool admin took 2 minutes to look at our website, they'd see that our team is NOT all Christian, nor are we limiting our charity support to only faith based ones (read faq, and the campaigns under "spread the word")

This is outrageous, and disgusting that all the miners are losing out on profits because Zpool wants to mine a coin with lower profitability, for the sole purpose of lowering its value by dumping.
but that's the thing;  you are making assumptions.

second;  if your coin had a real value and use;  it would be paid for and bought as such.... the market would show it.

If it isn't easy to generate, it; in turn would also have more value.

There are more facets to each scenario than just one narrow perspective that is based on assumptions.  Facts;  please.

Now;  I have no clue what that coin is; what port its on, how much hash goes to it, if its auxpow, or any other bit of reasoning.

If its easy to generate, and there's people buying it at a given price;  or people want to be paid in it on the pool;  its value will drop as a result if supply is > demand.  Plain and simple.

I just got banned from their Discord channel, because of pointing Zpool that using pool and ppls hashpower to dump other coins and manipulating market in purposes of harm projects that ZPool hates is criminal.
And what he is thinking what he is doing...

How ppl can be happy with that?

I'm not even on the discord, so I can't comment on D3ZZ's post fully;
But I will say if someone were banned, I could assume they were just raising conjecture based on assumptions..... over and over again.... or had piss poor behavior/language or were being flat-out abusive....  but then again, i'm not on the discord;  I have no clue about it, so I wont make a guess....
In lieu of a guess Ill just state the obvious reasons someone _could_ be banned as I did.

*see the difference on how I approached what I wanted to say to you compared to what you guyswanted to say about the pool?*
929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: JK's Manual Miner for zPool.ca V2.0 on: February 20, 2018, 11:56:23 PM
Sorry for the newbie questions. My 2x1080ti are pulling 11-11.25mh. How do I convert that into daily earnings?

zpool.ca wallet page.

look on right.  see your algo and 24 hour estimates.

multiply total hashrate by estimate(s) seen, and you can see your rough profitability on that algo.
930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: JK's Manual Miner for zPool.ca V2.0 on: February 20, 2018, 07:42:54 AM
Oh very cool.

Any plans to expand on your existing GPUs or just making use of them during down time for a lil extra?

Yep;  I am building a 100% satellite system that will all be self contained in one box;  just give it power.  It will have a cellular modem built in....  The Onda B250-D8P has an msata slot;  which could be repurposed to hold a WWAN card.....

As soon as I get one more 10 series card at home, all my 9 series gear will go offline and probably into friends computers.

I just got a huge lot of EV speakers to pick up and sell;  so I expect a free ~10K+ easily to fall in my hand soon.....  They are EV SL10-2V, and there's 76 of em.....

"User 'JaredKaragen' has not chosen to allow messages from newbies. You should post in their relevant thread to remind them to enable this setting."

(don't think i will be able to pm anyone for a very long time lol.. is there a post requirement to get out of the newbie bracket?)

What GPUs you use, i remember reading you had a couple of 1070s.

If I leave the urls unchanged in the text files of the batch does that mean I am mining what you are mining?

correct;  you will be mining what I am mining on my home GPU's.

The default address wallet is: https://zpool.ca/?address=1PHSDYvVp6HpqtuUPocK41DrdeHbbezaeP   And I set up all of my workernames as to denote what cards are connected on what machines.  There are used as well (except for one) so they go on and offline when I am using them for games/rendering/whatever.

I need to find the setting to enable newb PM post.... but right now im juggling trying to get an 18 wheeler to pick up a truckload of speakers to go sell....   I get things like this falling into my lap alot.  One of the curses of having soo many connections.    Newb pm used to be enabled;  I have no idea when that changed.
932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question on GPU rig build on: February 20, 2018, 02:26:38 AM
I only have AMD RX gpus, and they use the 8 pin plug for the GPU. You should be fine with one modular plug per card. I could technically plug in two cards on each of my plugs... however, I have read that that is not recommended so I have not tried it. Then you connect the sata power plugs to the PCIE powered risers.

You understand nothing about electricity or circuits and how they work.

There is a reason why some cards have an 8 pin and a 6 pin socket. The 6 pin just supplies 3/4 more power on top of the 8 pin and is used for more power hungry cards such as the 1080.  First lets get it all straightened out as to what all those wires are for.  The top row are all 12vd+ wires that are all COMMON to each other.  The bottom row is DC Ground. Or in other words the negative of the 12v power supply rail.   Having each wire positive or negative goto its own pin that ultimately is soldered to the circuit board keeps all the current split up and going into the circuit board instead of ALL of the current going thru one or two or even just 8 pins.  They are only rated for so much current flow.  Exceed that rating and things get hot and melt. 10 amps going thru 7 pins (7 is half of 14, remember one half is pos and the other neg) instead of just 4 reduces the current flow in each pin of the socket.  This also reduces the flow in each of the feed wires that lead from the plug in the power supply going into your PCIE power wires by splitting up the wires into multiple pos and neg wires.

to add some clarity;

The 8 pin connector doesn't add one more + and - line, but it only in fact adds two more grounds only.

Liken the need for 2 more grounds to having a fire hose;  and you wanted to increase the pressure on the inlet.... so you want to beef up the inlet, whereas the outlet won't feel the stress the inlet does.   Since electricity flows in a magical circle from negative to positive;  you need to beef up the negative coupling.  This isn't 100% correct;  but good enough for the layman to understand.

I may have analogized that kind of wrong;  but its pretty close to a good description on reasoning.

In short;  if you are running a GPU off one cable;  as long as the AWG of that cable can support the card's wattage (factoring in the PCIE 16x port's power draw), you can use both connectors on the one pcie cable to power the GPU.
933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU fans started failing, had to improvise a little on: February 20, 2018, 02:20:52 AM
usually you have to dismount the cooler;  they ziptie the pigtails to the cooler in odd places, etc.

sometimes you can get at the fan mounting screws from the front (inlet) of the fans....

I did lay a 120mm over the top of the cooler blowing down in the gap between the GPUs (with gpu's fans removed at that point)...  They ran in the high 70's to low 80's, but they did work.   Nvidia's self-throttling for temps works extremely well.   Its pretty hard to fry the die by lack of cooling unless a cooler is 100% missing altogether.

As far as recommended fan speeds;  if you can keep your card's fans to under 70% fan speeds;  the fans should last for well over 2-3 years of solid operation.   I ran my GTX980 at less than 70% for 2 years.   Then when I crammed it in a box with limited cooling and more GPU's, it stayed up at ~78*c and the fan went from being at ~75% on average to 100%.... and ~2-3 months later they were starting to fail/lock up.

That got it going! Mining Xevan.

Thank you very much for your help.

No prob at all.

If you have a website you can put a text file onto to control it;  you can choose your own algo by modifying the text files mentioned in the readme post above.

Presently xevan has been the most reliable the last few months for me.

NIST5 can be up and down;  more down that up recently.

Ill soon update the original package when I can get to a location to upload and replace the main mega link quickly.

Just to chime in I have a zotac 1070 mini with a failing fan fortunately it’s a 2 fan model and still runs cool but worries me about the other 6 I have

https://twitter.com/voskcoin/status/964252560981921793

Said rig / card / fan

Ive noticed; when one fan begins to go out;  the second isn't far behind it.....

I dont know why;  but its always the case.

Maybe it has something to do with the failing bearing adding vibrations to the other and making it follow suit.
936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: JK's Manual Miner for zPool.ca V2.0 on: February 20, 2018, 01:00:01 AM
Downloaded the new miner file, verified that the file size in the folder is the same but still getting the same error when I try to run it.
(launches in cmd, not powershell aswell if that's relevant).

The filesize should be a bit smaller as it has several copies of  a string removed.  It looks like I #$@%#'d up again, so here it is for you to cut and paste into mminer.bat

REM JK's nVidia zPool Miner "Manual" Batch V2.0
REM 2.0: Added auto-updates feature to batch; lots of changes
REM 1.2: Added failover algo selection URL

Specifically these type of powershell lines can't contain this text [ -version 2.0 ] in some windows 10 installs.  Why, I have no clue:
Code:
powershell -version 2.0 -Command "(New-Object Net.WebClient).DownloadFile('%VLOC%', 'version.txt')"

Gonna be finally powering on my D8P tonight.

Im testing an over-the-counter available in stock sodimm module.

It is supposedly rated for 1.2V, so I dont expect problems with it;  but then again, people have said the D8P can be picky.

Ill post results late tonight when I leave my parents house for home.

Good luck

Went off without a hitch.  powered up right away and went into BIOS.  I don't have a cooler for the CPU quite yet, so I just set my TEC (Thermoelectric cooler) on it without any paste... just a heatsync, and gravity.   BIOS HW monitor showed 15*c....    I used the built in DVI plug to test on the first boot.  To power it I used a pico PSU thats around ~250W.  it's CPU power 12v wires barely reached (when stretched through the heatsync fins) and also barely reached the closest molex for slot 1/2.

So;  Good news on all fronts;  I finally have tested my board, as well as shown a good part number and SODIMM to compare for other compatible units.

I searched for it before making this thread.  I found some links on google but they were from sites/sources I'm not familiar with so I thought I would ask my fam!

I've just compiled it for my personal use. You can download it from here, https://github.com/yoyosan/ccminer-alexis-1.0.

Not doubting your legitimacy, but i wouldn't trust such a thing on a 1 post account.

If you use it, be weary.

The version above I posted up is from the nemosminer package when it was still a part of it.

The updated file is in the above post.   Tried to PM you, but the forum is not allowing me to; need to find out where the setting is to enable PM's from new members..... its a new feature.

Just replace mminer.bat with this new one, and it should be right as rain.

If any algos crash or do not work properly, tell me which algo and Ill do some quick testing.   Since I have been only minig ~3 different algos the last several months, I havent tried some of the other ones with the new windows and nvidia drivers I am using.

ccminer180 has issues, so I replaced it in this new version a week ago.  IF other algos offend, and im not available to push an update;  you can change it yourself via these parameters:

Reference parameters:
Code:
SET A=ccminer180.exe
SET B=ccminerx11e.exe
SET C=ccminerlyra2.exe
SET D=ccminerlbry1.exe
SET E=ccminerlbry.exe
SET F=ccminer.exe
SET G=ccminerxevan.exe
SET H=ccminerskunk.exe
SET POOL=mine.zpool.ca
SET A01=x13
SET A02=x11
SET A03=qubit
SET A04=x15
SET A05=lyra2v2
SET A06=neoscrypt
SET A07=decred
SET A08=blakecoin
SET A09=c11
SET A10=quark
SET A11=groestl
SET A12=blake2s
SET A13=x14
SET A14=x17
SET A15=nist5
SET A16=skein
SET A17=sib
SET A18=x11evo
SET A19=lbry
SET A20=keccak
SET A21=myr-gr
SET A22=xevan
SET A23=skunk

and using the definitions, you can deduce which line is which algo, and which app is being used in each algo:
EXAMPLE:
IF %WHATTOMINE% == %A01% START "%DEV%:%A01%" /min %A% %DEV% -r 0 -a %A01% -o stratum+tcp://%A01%.%POOL%:3633 -u %ADDY% -p %PASS%,%WHATTOMINE%

%A01% is the algo;  being X13
%A% is the miner app to use; being ccminer180.exe

Im going to be leaving the house for a while;  hopefully all went well.

Don't run as admin;  it will execute the batch as if it was in the windows/system32 folder..... not good as it tried to call files that are in its own directory.
