Dorsey and others mocked them hard last night.

As Churchill said, "Yes, I am down. But you are Twitter and in the morning I will be up and you will still be Twitter".

It is certainly something I have considered. There are several islands for sale in Panama. Though we are also considering movable versions of our floating homes so that could be a viable solution some day. A floating home that can sit in 5 meter waves allows you to live in a whole lot of places.

I'd imagine there were places with underwater 'islands'. How would those go for attaching seasteading to? Potentially eventually building them up to full islands?

Well, the other portion of my post that you cited was largely responding to the aspect of your post in which you were proclaiming a kind of current status of BTC consolidation that appeared like a kind of bearish wishful-thinking.

I was actually thinking of it as a good thing and that we were going to break for the up. (which we did but retroactive predictions are meaningless). Consolidation often implies building a solid platform for the next leap.
924  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2021, 07:24:21 PM

I would think that over. A small island can't break a storm, and there's tsunamis. It's also unlikely that you find any source of drinking water (a well or a spring).
Maybe a boat would be better, you could live your life in a different bay each day...

Just waiting for a small suite on Elwar's seasteading project.

Suffer bear...

Suffer!!!!!!!!

Yeah, really suffering as my net wealth continues to increase. You seem to be operating under some very odd delusions.

Saying that the city/state/country next to yours can fuck up their air pollution as much as they want without it having any effect on you is borderline delusional.

Still not global. We can surely mostly agree that even local pollution is undesirable. Most of the west has vastly improved its pollution issues in the last several decades. But if you're going to advocate tearing down economies that have brought prosperity and health to billions... well, firstly, you might be Joe Biden and secondly, you're going to have to appeal to more than fee-fees about causal links.

And just to recap, you interjected into a thread on global warming with pictures of pollution. Totally orthogonal subjects. You could eliminate all pollution and still have rising CO2 output.

Even when they buy a third party company such as Oculus, they now force everyone to have a Facebook account with the latest headsets.

And that's why I'll never buy another Oculus product. Shame as they started out well. They also seem to have abandoned PCVR which is a great shame.

Interesting little bounce there. Boring action mostly but it seems we are in consolidation mode for a while.
929  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2021, 04:34:59 PM
if we all can agree that air pollution is already an issue at many local levels, how can anyone argue that it has no effect on the global level?

Because it is local, not global. One just doesn't follow on from the other. The world's an awfully big place.

The problem with "trust the science" is that so many think this flaky deductive reasoning is science.

Thanks Richy. I was wondering what tablet device could boot from an alternative operating system. Haven’t checked it out yet, but I hope you’re talking about a native support of such OS’es.

Not really native, just semi-supported. If you want native, that would be a laptop. Chromebooks are cheap and portable. I've never really found touchscreens to be much use or user friendly.

Pretty sure everyone (everyone sane?) will agree that we (humans) already managed to fuck up environment at the city levels in many locations around the globe (possibly country levels, fancy a health retreat in Bangladesh?). Yet even the thought, that combined effect of all those fucked up cities could have some not so positive effects on a global scale, is completely incomprehensible and alien to them.

Dude, I don't want to get in the middle of this discussion but you need to keep straight the differences between global and local and warming and pollution.

When I saw a post from Ben (time is on our side Ben) that he sells 25 copies of his chess NFT I realized NFTs are scam. It made sense when there was only one unique NFT available but now if they start selling copies, that's a scam. That's like money printing. Or imagine there would be 25 copies of Mona Lisa and they keep printing more as they need money.

It is my first tablet FFS. I have ignored them completely, up to now, and have decided to fill in the - what is this? - gap.
It’s OK, but I prefer my laptop.

If you want to fill that void, I'd suggest a Chromebook. If you don't like the google crap, some can have alternative operating systems installed. Not having a keyboard is annoying to me and the only place I accept it is with my phone where portability is the primary criteria.

On the other hand, you guys who have been following the market for a long time, for months now the price on weekends has not moved much. is this normal or do you remember times in the past with big rises and/or falls on weekends? I remember before summer that in weekends the price used to go down (a little).

It has been noticed before. I was digging around in posts from 2013/2014 and someone was asking about it then.
935  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 03, 2021, 12:18:15 AM

i remember that. i think it was a safety issue (code issues). so it was a liability if someone got hurt iirc. therefore it was  removed.

still, sucks and shows how ridiculous (some) regulations are.

Should have put a sign saying "Strictly an art installation. Not to be used as stairs".

This is all wrong.
What kind of a sound system are they setting up?
I cringe hearing the resulting midrangey mess with my mind's ear.
These people definitely can't party.

Military? I was assuming it was some kind of proximity deterrent system.

Morning WOers.

Cheesy post:

Listening to Scorpions and feeling euphoric (I don't know exactly why). Great songs. I feel that something important was lost in the passage of time from their era to ours. All those hi-tech gear we now have, and yet current songs somehow lack that something... Or maybe it's just me being a Gen X old man.

Yeah, not exactly remakes by definition, you're right..

Remakes often have the problem that they're trying to remake a popular movie where everything came together to make something that worked and it's going to be hard not to fall short. Much better to remake a movie which had a lot of promise but fell short. Doesn't happen often but I think one movie did it. Slips my mind which that was though.
939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 02, 2021, 12:28:17 AM

Arguably not remakes as the books were the primary source. I preferred the original c&tcf movie but don't compare the aitws because Disney is Disney and there are other interesting interpretations.

Yeah, not exactly remakes by definition, you're right..

I am now wondering what the heck I was thinking aitws was.

Don't you remember this one I posted earlier, when you dressed up in a Toga and smashed my guitar
because I was singing murdering some lefty commie bastard hippie dippie Bob Dylan number?.....

Toga!... toga!... toga!...
