getinfo says this:

Quote
    "version" : 32100,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,
    "blocks" : 1434,
    "connections" : 1,
    "proxy" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "difficulty" : 512.00781274,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "testnet" : false,
    "keypoololdest" : 1304454917,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,

connections increased to 7. so this is how its supposed to look?

Has anyone got this to work properly in WinXP?

Can the author(s) vouch for the alternative dropbox link for the .exe?

The Dropbox link that I posted is legit, although somewhat outdated now.  I compiled it on Windows 7 with the code here: https://github.com/dmp1ce/namecoin/tree/win32  Let me know if it doesn't work for you.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2882613/Namecoin/namecoind.exe

tried it on windows 7 64bit. gets to "bitcoin server starting" and stays there.

mndrix --

this went extremely smoothly.  I would pay a small clearing fee to participate in another one of your lending pools if you ever get the courage to run a new one.

very good job, mndrix  Smiley
949  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [LOAN] 1000 BTC needed & will pay with interest for mining rig on: April 24, 2011, 01:23:51 AM
if you really have to pay half the coins for electricity and internet, you are probably not in a viable location to do professional mining at all.
secondly, even if you are in a good location, to get profits equal to your initial investment within the first few month is very unlikely. so paying back all the investors very fast is out of the question.

if you intend to go ahead anyway, you should set the terms for the loans yourself. like for example you ask for ten loans 100btc each, payment 110btc after 6 months. or something like that.

As a diamond-level Zerg player, I offer coaching to anyone who is Platinum or below.  I'll look at your replays in-depth and give detailed analysis.  I'll observe your play in-game and give live feedback.  We'll go over a a list of things to work on and ways to practice each skill.  Your game will improve, guaranteed.  10 btc/hr.  Reply here or email japhet@[website in my sig].

I remember when video games were played for fun. Get off my lawn.

>90% people who do sports do it just for fun. still, many hire trainers to improve. serious training can be fun. whats wrong with doing the same at a computer game?

in the german forum someone offered stickers in german, roughly 3x3".
http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4237.msg83451#msg83451
translated quote:

Quote
1 Sticker            0,2 BTC
10 Stickers   1,5 BTC (0,15 BTC each)
100 Stickers 12,- BTC (0,12 BTC each)
500 Stickers 50,- BTC (0,10 BTC each)
+ shipping

stickers have german language, so this is just for a price comparision.

please send them to me! too me they also mean nothing i swear!!  Grin

rationally, accepting the 10$ is the right choice in a totally isolated experiment. telling anyone that you would make a rational decision however, is not.
always appear like the 50/50 guy.
accepting 5000/0 is not rational btw. why would you care more about the greedy unknown person taking all the money than the unknown person offering it?
954  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Poker/Casino Programming on: April 20, 2011, 02:22:16 PM
The only most recent version of major browsers that doesn't have Web Sockets is IE9.  I'm pretty sure all other major browsers have support (although I think some need it enabled first).

right now its only enabled in chrome and safari afaik

I most likely will write the server code in C or C++ and have the first version of the client in PHP/Ajax but have the script connect via the PHP socket code.  This way, it'll be easier to add a C++ client down the line as optional for a better experience.

that sounds like a plan.

the main issue with speed is not the fact that it is TCP but that each action using PHP/Ajax would be a new HTTP request.

use websockets and hope that they will be activated in the major browsers soon?

edit: i think trusting the binary is a non-issue with c/c++. the user already trusts you enough to give you some bitcoin. so its very likely that he also trusts you enough not to spread malware.
956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin conceptual problem? on: April 15, 2011, 09:47:32 PM
if everybody in the world used bitcoin, then the early adopters did a big part in the establishment of the first world currency. i think they deserve the reward. which will be much less, because many will sell earlier, receiving less. the people they sold to receive some part of the final "reward" too, and so on.
its not unfair, because you can join in anytime if you think its worth it.

if you think bitcoin will be a great success but still dont want to buy bitcoin and earn a shitload of money just because somebody else might earn even more, well.... enjoy being poor and envious  Wink
957  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Lending Pool Auction Experiment on: April 15, 2011, 07:55:49 PM
looks good to me.
958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wow what a rally! on: April 15, 2011, 07:46:26 PM
it would be more accurate to value it in bitcoin -> 100% accurate  Wink
seriously, you dont count your dollars in gold. when you have 3000$ you just think "thats quite a bunch of money" not "thats 100g of gold" or something like that.

959  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Lending Pool Auction Experiment on: April 15, 2011, 01:29:22 AM
i wish to lend 100 btc for 104btc in return.

960  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: weird idea: a bitcoin game on: April 09, 2011, 12:41:12 PM
nope, i didnt. mostly because i dont really get the idea of your game. and second, i looked at your jstet code and wasnt impressed so much. i am not really sure if you can code, design and balance a totally new game all by yourself. but if you give a more detailed concept of your game, i might support you.

in comparison, my game is even less ambitious even though i intend to have at least some gfx and sound.
but obviously, public interest in my project is very low, so i am not so motivated to realize it. i was looking forward to do some game programming, but i wont code a game nobody will ever touch Undecided
