the most reasonable decision will be to be patient and wait . you may have to wait for more than one month , but the market will recover in any case .
It bears repeating... never invest more than you can walk away from.

This is a beer marketing situation and we can invest our money. That's definitely a good place to invest.

So would you refer to this as a soft fork or a hard fork?
It's referred to as a fork in the ass.

Everything still moves in lockstep with bitcoin, more or less. I expect that to continue for the foreseeable future. Also, it might rain later.

Big whales don't mean it's not decentralized, it just means we little players are at the whims of the whales. But for practical results to most of us it is no different than having a strong centralized coin so yeah the original poster's summary is mostly correct from my point of view. However, we all know that for true decentralization to be a reality then adoption must be worldwide and from the masses, not just whales. In that case future whale movement will have ripples not tsunamis.

'twould be nice but there's always the ol' ... "past performance is not an indicator of future earnings" caveat.

The assumption that ETH will moon again is wishful thinking. I'm not saying it won't, just that having a strategy that assumes it will in any particular time frame is foolish.

Yet another bitcointalk thread where everyone reassures themselves their fortune is just around the corner. There is a difference between gambling and investing, many people on these boards need to learn that lesson, hopefully by watching others instead of through painful personal experience.

I bought some LTC near the high last year, every time I think maybe I should average down the market tanks again. Some investments are just bad and the loss should be taken. On the other hand my BTC position was slowly accumulated pre and post last year so I have a much more stable investment there. Point is, while the coin choice does matter of course after that it is how you manage your investment resources that really makes the difference. Don't blow your entire resources on what you think is a dip. Take a taste and keep fiat in reserve.

Eth may not survive but the technology surely will. I'm in for the long haul to see the technology adapted by the masses worldwide. That's a 5+ years outlook and anything can happen in that timeframe from fortune to bust, and several times over. No one enjoys down periods but if you are hurting because you invested more than you can walk away from then you need to rethink your strategy. Diversification is not just a pretty buzzword and investing is not trading. Only you can determine what losses are unacceptable and plan accordingly.

Coinexchange trades this, no problem.

It is possible. The other direction is also possible. I think the uncertainty now stems not from any issues with ETH itself but with big money starting to play their all too typical games in this space. We are still a very small part of the financial world but the attention over the last year has definitely brought in a lot more players, and many of them are traditional finance guys with all the negativity that implies. Their money they used to throw at penny stocks to manipulate pump and dumps can dwarf any other influence such as the grassroots developers or the in-crypto-for-the-philosophy types. I think we've seen a permanent change in the crypto market over the last year, less wild west individuality and more carpet baggers.

Wow! Good to see this coin is alive, but its price.. uhmmm.. are that any plans to make it better? Any efforts to list on better exchange, etc?
There is almost zero volume so the price is dead. Any days that show more than $100 of volume seem to bump, that says to me if/when there is more awareness of this coin then it will explode in value. Now is the time to accumulate.

flat earth is the mind of a small child who is imagining about nature. experts in the field have stated that the earth is round ..
Oh man look at this guy appealing to authority. He calls anyone who says the earth is flat a small child with absolutely no first hand knowledge himself. Dismissal with out investigation is the height of all ignorance. "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence" - Hitchens's razor is an epistemological razor asserting that the burden of proof regarding the truthfulness of a claim lies with the one who makes the claim, and if this burden is not met, the claim is unfounded, and its opponents need not argue further in order to dismiss it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitchens%27s_razor

You should diversify. Some btc, some eth, some gold, some fiat, some stocks, and a savings account. Maybe even some cash under your mattress. The balance among the choices is up to your risk tolerance. And never ever invest more than you can safely walk away from forever.

Either way I don't care. If it's a bull trap I'll buy more on the drop, if it's a real recovery I'll keep buying, I'm averaging in consistently anyway over the long term, no big deal. I remember working the stock market 20 years ago and if a stock changed by 10% in one day it was pretty amazing, so funny to see people here saying a 10%+ jump in one day is small. Just don't forget to take profits on the way up.
