The guy had eight posts!  I hope you got some id and can go collect.

Welcome to lending.
962  Economy / Goods / Re: 2x Radeon 7950 Graphics cards. on: April 24, 2012, 10:27:55 PM
I have just received a loan request from "Eric" saying he was buying a third card.  Yet this thread is selling two cards.

Also, his old posts put him in Australia and now he is in Florida.  The "reference" from godfrey is an account that has also been inactive since may 2011.  People should have a look for some good info on this one.  Could all be genuine, but it makes me  wonder.
963  Economy / Lending / Re: [FILLED] Looking for a small personal loan, 50-100BTC on: April 24, 2012, 09:55:39 AM
Just noting, as it's unusual, this is one of the lowest interest rate loans I've seen for a while - even quoted as an annual rate.  Wow - Starfish goes back to his whiskey Smiley
964  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] New "Potential Scammer" Tag on: April 24, 2012, 09:50:38 AM
+1 for many reasons.  One in particular, despite it being mentioned to me previously that is is difficult, but same user IDs from the same IP would be useful.  There are several sockpuppet accounts i suspect that are very annoying (but not scammers), and a few that might be scammers.

Still, anyone using the internet (or life) should be alert to bad things, but you can't fix stupid, so helping protect people from themselves is a good idea.
965  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] *NEW* PPT.B Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 24, 2012, 09:43:56 AM
While the prediction market has flaws, and there is no real money involved, it is still fun...

Will PPT.A pay the 1.28 BTC face value to bondholders by 19 May 2012 23:59 UTC?

Unless there is a glitch on timing, yes.  I can cover a couple of thousand without any problem.
966  Economy / Lending / Re: [LOAN] Need 200 BTC Loan for 14 days on: April 24, 2012, 03:39:56 AM
Collateral?  Proof of ID and all the usual stuff?
967  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK IPO, Offering Monthly Profit Split From Lending Operations on: April 23, 2012, 07:22:15 PM
I would like to take a moment to point out (to everyone's delight, no doubt) that since the MPOE and subsequent MPEx issues of nonvoting shares on large float everyone's doing nonvoting shares on large float (as opposed to the previously employed nonsensical if idealistic GBLSE method of voting shares, tiny float).

This is a good and welcome thing for a number of reasons that apparently either nobody felt equal to the task of discussing or nobody was too curious about.

We will obviously continue to lead the community by freely providing competence and insight into how securities markets actually work. Perhaps the greatest advantage of bitcoin for the "next door" demographic is that they get to interact directly with people they would not otherwise have met in a million years (gross estimate).

I would like to take a moment to point out  (to everyone's delight, no doubt) that I provided some advice to Kluge on different classes of shares and alternative rights that might attach to those classes (I am a qualified professional in this area).  I have been structuring businesses for much longer than bitcoin has been in existence, and non-voting shares and stock exchange issues have been around for more than 100 years (too lazy to actually look up when it started).  MOPE and MPEx have nothing to do with it.

I have no intention of throwing words around, nor will a police complaint achieve the return of funds.  It is a civil matter, not a criminal one.  (However, Mr Jensen may have engaged in criminal activity, but I am not able to make that statement.)

971  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ATI GPU's won't show - installed latest drivers and sdk... on: April 23, 2012, 12:40:49 AM
I was re-doing some stuff like this yesterday on an XP machine.  Try going back to 11.3.  (Uninstall the ATI drivers and SDK, restart, and run 11.3.  Also, install one card at a time sometimes makes it easier for the OS)  Not sure why, but it worked - something about the bundling of the openCL.
972  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] *NEW* PPT.B Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 22, 2012, 11:54:06 PM
I was being lazy and didn't bother adjusting for term or the ratios.  Subtracting was easier.
973  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: April 22, 2012, 09:19:14 PM
So, let's assume I add another $1000 into the claim and noone else joins. You get $4000 back. This would mean that there is an access of $715. I would get 50% of those $715 = $357.5.

On a seperate note regarding the cost: would it be possible to get an official (tax-deductable) bill for the costs?

If your funds were provided by an entity entitled to claim, or you wished the expenses to be billed to a tax registered entity, then yes (I don't see why not).  The tricky thing in that is that each case/circumstance is going to be slightly different.  Mine is fairly simple as I can show money flow between CBA accounts without any coin trading, so it's a simple cash debt that has not been repaid, so the absence of a written or signed contract is less of an issue.

As for recovery, it might be easier to cover costs first, and then pool all claims, but the basic idea was that if you don't or are not able to contribute to costs, then you could receive up to 50% of your losses back.
974  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: April 22, 2012, 09:05:00 PM
I should have been a little clearer on the 50/50 (sorry).  I am after the recovery of approximately $3,285 plus costs.  That would sit as #1 ranking as that's how it would work if I was running this solo.

If you add another $1000 to the value attempting to be recovered, and I am successful at obtaining that full amount, you get $500, and it scales back from that.  Certainly if I'm only able to get half of what I'm owed, it'll be unlikely there would be any other money for any of his other creditors either.

(As a variation, if someone wanted to contribute directly to costs, then that would change their position in a distribution.  I think that would be fair.)

If I make a claim to the police, and they prosecute, my current view is that I'm unlikely to get any money out of that, but that's why I have legal advisers.
975  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] *NEW* PPT.B Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 22, 2012, 08:55:18 PM
Maybe they bought the bonds, sold them for a profit. Then redeposited with Pirate until the next bond offering. This would not lower exposure to a Pirate default however.

That still carries the risk that the issue and after-market would be a flop.  But, they probably had the math worked out at a neutral point so they could be indifferent between one outcome or the other.  But while this is a good product, it may not be the best product for people with pirate accounts, especially when the floor price increases.
976  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: April 22, 2012, 08:48:31 PM
Update: I decided during the weekend I would like another house.  Although I am unlikely to get it, Mr Jensen is unlikely to have it either.

As this is one of the few places where information is able to be exchanged, I provide the following:

I will be taking legal action against Andre Jensen.  This may range from simple debt collection, dealing with his bankers, ASIC (including financial services division), through to a simple bankruptcy proceedings.  One of the positive things about having money is being able to spend some in pursuit of some justice.

However, as this course of action is not available to all of the people that have money tied up with Mr Jensen (due to cost) if you wish to join the deal is 50/50.  i.e. you get back half of what you are owed, and the other half (if recovered) goes to offset costs.   You can pm me with basic details (an email account, and value currently owed).
977  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] *NEW* PPT.B Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 22, 2012, 08:11:53 PM
Wow, someone but some serious BTC into the PPT.A. One person took 500 of the bonds at 1.07, and it looked like a snipe at the end. I think we'll see in future auctions that a few big players (In Bitcoin, at least) will end up with the majority of the bonds. Considering that there are some bonds being sold at the 1.19 point just two days later, that would be a 10% profit (!!!) if that buyer could unload them all. It's Pirate rates with less exposure to default.

Actually, probably the opposite.  The bigger depositors have better change of having their own pirate account, and smaller depositors (especially those with less than pirate's 100 coin minimum have significant chance of getting bonds at reasonable prices, above the 1.07.  If you were bidding 1.19, that's still 9% for the month.  Those selling early have a quick profit, but then still have to do something with their coins.

My opinion is that PPT.B will be even more interesting to watch.
978  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 2.5 BTC loan on: April 21, 2012, 08:35:26 PM
thanks for the loan. but why do you refuse interest?

Interest on 2.5 coins isn't much, and while the offer of repaying 3 coins is good, it's much more fun messing with the trolls.

I could always get out my "enforcer" team:

Deposited 50 BTC today --> http://blockchain.info/address/1G2TxZ7FwQcQ8Wj7nF9uenpetWurCaigrN Thanks for the business.

Confirmed - coins received.  Thanks DrLatino999

It's actually been a pretty good week here at Starfish, so as a random event I have added an extra week of interest to the deposits I've had for a month or longer (covering five deposits and around 800 coins).
