1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Binary-Chain - VeriCoin and Verium - The First Dual-Blockchain Protocol on: February 22, 2021, 09:06:30 PM
Are there any news being able to be shared on bitcointalk? I see there is something going on in reddit vrc/vrm but sadly still no new informations on bitcointalk. I still think most people use bitcointalk.org as information plattform.
Sadly livecoin exchange did vanish and so the last known VRM exchange is gone. Any news about which next exchange VRM will be added?

Getting added to AtomicDEX as we speak thanks to Mderasse and the Komodo team

If it wasn't for new community members like Phiten, the only Github commits would be Doug changing a comma on a Sunday evening right before dinner.

For sure one mistake we made was setting rough quarter timelines that we didn’t achieve, but please don’t discount my consistent efforts for over 4 years including recently, after being around for 1. This is not a pump and dump, it’s a long term project tackling long term challenges (Eg. CPU mining). It requires patience and a lot of work.

New Binary-Chain ANN is primary for VeriCoin and Verium now, please move discussion there to prevent too much fragmentation of community. Thanks.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385158

Hi,

My Verium wallet syncs as i always has. But i downloaded vericoin wallet now and i got error when it tried to download conf etc from your website.

Got 0 connections so cant sync the whole chain manually either.
Could you share a .conf file (official)? Thank you Smiley

I uptedated the Vericoin wallet to 1.7 but still "Waiting for a new network connection"

Did you solve this problem? How?

thanks

file->reload blockchain and check download new vericoin.conf file

VeriCoin Specifications
VeriCoin Launched: May 10th Midnight EST, PoW Ended May 17th 2014, PoS only
Launched in May of 2014, VeriCoin is a Proof-of-Stake-Time currency with a disinflation targeted interest rate which is dependent on the degree of staking. Stake-Time is a new proof that favors both number the number of coins held and how often they are staked. Together these features make VeriCoin top in security and incentive.
Network
No Premine, No IPO
Minimum Transaction Fee: 0.0001 VRC (Paid to Stakers)
Confirmations: 10, Maturity: 500
RPC Port: 58683, P2Port: 58684
Scrypt
26,751,452.35 VRC Minted during PoW period
Ended at Block 20160
Block Time: 1 minute
Exponential Difficulty Retarget Each Block
2,500 Coins For Each Mined Block
Proof of Stake-Time
Disinflation targeted interest
Min Stake Time of 8 Hours for Interest
No Max Stake Age or Amount

Verium Specifications
Proof of Work-Time: Difficulty dependent blocktime (Max ~6.2 minutes, minimum 15 seconds)
Rewards: Blocktime dependent rewards (~Reward halving every minute decrease in blocktime till 10x VRC supply parity, then variable ~3% disinflation)
Algo: scrypt² (N of 1024² or 128MB per thread)
Block 1: 564,705 VRM minted for ICO participants who purchased VRM using VRC
Minimum Transaction Fee: 0.2 VRM (High commodity transaction fee paid to miners)
RPC Port: 33987, P2Port: 36988
Confirmations: 30, Maturity: 100
Variable block time:
It automatically addresses the scalability issue BTC has.
It increases blockchain performance with security.
It softens the difficulty mechanism without loss of security, so that mining power can grow more efficiently and organically.
Rewards in minutes per mining between blocks enables more profitability of mining that is dependent on power and time burning electric.
A decreasing reward as the blockchain speeds, incentivizes a balance of efficiency and power, while reducing new supply based on demand.
ASIC and GPU inefficient and resistant due to memory latency.
So as a standalone PoW it will be one of the best and most innovative approaches to PoW.

has verium been in development for a year? From what I see development is only to new versions of roadmap?  Huh

Yes, huge mining overhaul, most of work done without commits because it was being pieced together (wouldn't compile, would crash etc), after initial code development push of changes was done on branch 1.1, now 1.1 is master and commits are being pushed there. https://github.com/VeriumReserve/verium/commits/master

All OSes and architecture wallet builds for 1.1 are now being prepared, including the addition of windows 64bit

Both Poolinat0rs down again? Sites don't load.
Site up now with announcement:

We are investigating issues in the backend. Your shares and hashrate are safe and we will fix things ASAP.

Blockupdate disabled, blocks and transactions confirmations are delayed

edit: By the way, anyone having trouble compiling the new Verium wallet? I'm trying to do it on a Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian Jessie. I noticed there were a few new dependencies but I think I've sorted all that out.

Code:
makefile.unix:195: recipe for target 'obj/scrypt.o' failed
make: *** [obj/scrypt.o] Error 1
I'm no l33t_liNuX_h4x0r so it's probably me doing something wrong. Any ideas? The old wallet compiled without any trouble (after sorting the trouble out that is Wink).

this was a linker bug it's now fixed.

Have devs abandoned this coin? No software updates for over a year, not good. Always promises, in reality nothing happens. Just beware, could be delisted.

Please go fud somewhere else Cheesy

https://github.com/VeriumReserve/verium/commits/1.1

No FUD from me, just the truth. Verium 1.0.4 was released 16th Sept 2016, over 1 year ago. Devs promised new mining code back in March
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1540023.msg18064428#msg18064428
I expect they have kept it for themselves to mine faster than everyone else.

Doesn't Bittrex require constant dev progress in order not to be delisted?

the update while quite beneficial is not anything beyond what the open source fully available veriumMiner can do regarding mining speed, it just took longer than expected to port all the assembly into the wallet.

Why VRM must connect with VRC? Do it binary-chain but what is binary-chain? Can somebody help me! thank you very much.!  Huh Huh Huh

Look at the issues currently engulfing bitcoin like scaling and governance and you will begin to see the potential of the binary chain.  Instead of fighting over digital gold vs digital cash you get both.  With the intertwined networks you also end up with a more robust system that's far less likely to suffer from contentious forks.

bitcoin will keep going. no matter what will stop it, because bitcoin has a very powerful system that any altcoin does not have, I call the bitcoin "too perfect". The fork is just a small problem.

Finally,, what does VRC / VRM do for me to keep it long term?  Huh Huh Huh

VRC and VRM in the binary chain results in a faster more inexpensive to spend money that is censorship resistant (VRC) and a more secure and stable digital store of value (VRM) that scales with userbase increases.  Each on it's own would not be as good at one or the other.

VeriCoin 1.7 wallet is nearing completion, with fixes to wallets stats, connection issues. The next update will include PoST 2.0 which will prevent the recent fork issues due to large coin age/staking wallets. VeriCoin 2.0 will be upgrading core code to the latest Bitcoin Core code. Verium will also get the updated Bitcoin Core code.

Will it not be a fat, slow, bloated pig when loading?  It takes several minutes just to get to the unlock screen.

Yes far less bloat.

Just looking at the price charts on this coin and it looks like a MAJOR pump and dump coin. 20 million market cap to 11 million cap like 8 times in 1 day? SMH....

I caution everyone that is thinking of investing in this coin. Im sure its a great project but these pump and dumps will turn off investors.

This is actually just an artifact of averaging by volume the price discrepancy between the Jubi VRC/CNY market which has a consistently much higher price for VeriCoin with decent volume compared to the BTC markets.  The price can't equilibrate due to regulations on BTC in china. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/vericoin/#markets
