It's not only corrupt and scam exchange you have to worry about, it's scam creators

So im kind of screwd, I had around 40.000 Aur on Cryptsy and could not get them out when they closed. Guessing they had more Aur on the exchange than they had in theyr wallets. Is there some chance of getting them back (like it looks like with MTGox now)..

Some type of mass lawsuit against them or anything  Undecided

We are monitoring their cold wallet and will report any movements to bittrex and other exchanges. At this time all we know is what has been reported on twitter "Internet & wallet server physical location has been given to the receivership representative.  Bittrex held funds information was also given"

This latest article from cointelegrsph sets auroracoin  up really nicely for a big surprise next month.

At the end she lets slip that an icelandic bank has started a campaign to educate icelanders about crypto currency.

Expect auroracoin to be part of this strategic campaign, still to be announced next month.

Auroracoin is trading at a massive discount here.

This wonderful person with morals in the right place had every right to express these thoughts , this person is not asleep.

AUR is only about making the scam developer rich and a few others that have joined the party. AUR is not about breaking the shackles of financial freedom, it will end up hurting the people of Iceland. Bitcoin is the only currency I would feel comfortable with my people being involved with.

The DEV team should not pay attention to the lurking scammers. You just loose precious development time to them.
And by making this you feed their hope in robbing you.
It's a waste of time on both sides!  Grin

Did they ever find who the original dev was that rigged the airdrop and if he still has AUR , if Eggert is telling the truth.

You can read the following and make an informed decision. I am a firm believer that the person who was behind the creation of AUR is hiding in plain sight.

From the controversy section on wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auroracoin

MP Frosti Sigurjónsson, a member of the ruling Progressive Party and Chairman of the EATC, suggested in a blog post on his website that there is evidence that Auroracoin is an illegal financial "scam".

Auroracoin is the biggest scam pulled on this board ever! The airdrop is in large parts staged. Balduro, the initiator of this scam who is hiding himself controls most of the supply of the coin and tries to launder the premine to his private adresses to later dump the coins on unsuspecting speculators and the people of iceland! It's about robbing a whole nation of their hard earned money! This must be stopped!

Why have you a giant hardon against AUR?

Everyone of your posts are against AUR.

Why hide with your shill account?

You have no problem with supporting a scam, the truth gets you backlash on here. Why would these Dutch people care about Iceland? It's all about money for them, don't be fooled it's more then this. They don't care about the people of Iceland.

I will carry on spreading the word in Iceland while the people who don't live in Iceland can come here and put their greed in a scam before the truth.

Open your minds and eyes and put the puzzle together, this has been a plan long in the making. Try do something right or this is going to be far worse then the banking system you all want to hate on.

Just for clarity.

The premine was distributed fairly to all citizens of Iceland, the new team is doing this out of the goodness of there hearts to show the coin can be a success. No bagholders here besides the foundation. Moon here we come!

Just read this page and you see why new coin is needed for Iceland. A fresh start without any doubt of corruption.

For new users you.must know what you getting into with AUR. Some of the community here are victims of dumps by original airdrops and need to make it work to offload their coins.

Walking away is not a option or they risk losing a lot of investment. A new coin for Iceland should of been created to give a crypto a real chance in Iceland.

There will be community members that will defend the above because they have a lot to lose.

Who is Baldur Odinsen? Tell me who he is and I walk away from this conversation and never return and wish you all the best. I don't know any Icelandic coin developers, most are from China,India,Netherlands and US. I think dev was not from Iceland and use fake Iceland name.

I found him, my mistake.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balder_%28comics%29

At this point in time, does it matter who he is though?  I can assure you that I personally know 5 members of the new team, and have been acquainted with the rest, and they are most certainly not Balduro.

If the coin is in new hands, and the premine was burned, does Balduro matter?  That's like trying to continue the hunt for satoshi.

-Fuse

It wouldn't matter if there wasn't a premine, there is a lot of issues surrounding the other 25% of the premine, he has a lot of explaining to do.

In all seriousness, though, what would you like addressed?  Coins were airdropped to whoever claimed them.  The remaining coins sat in wallets that the AUR team had already planned to block should Balduro not come through with his initial promise.  Balduro then, as he said he would, burned the remaining coins in a dump address(which can be seen in this transaction https://chainz.cryptoid.info/aur/tx.dws?490947.htm).  He is no longer involved in the workings of this coin.  It seems pretty clear.

For those that have already responded about the FUD, I think we should hear it out.  If we can't clearly state what the current situation is, and what our current position is with AUR, then we can't dismiss the FUD.

So Eggert, What's left to discuss about it?  What's left for him to explain?  I want to see if I can get you whatever answers you need to be at peace with your thoughts about AUR.

-Fuse

You can explain yourself in this discussion.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877108.msg11225376#msg11225376

The airdrop was donne by using the kennitala ID system and moving bytes of computer generated data Smiley
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennitala
The initial hype arround AUR just before the airdrop when 31.8 of them worth 600$+, attracted 30.000+ airdrop requests.
After the dump the number of second airdrop request went down to 5000+
And the 3'rd airdrop request went even lower to 2500+
Because the value of the airdop coins is so low now, they have no use in merchant transaction. It's something that you just trade if you have a taste for risk or you firmly believe in the concept propose by AUR coin.
But with the newly dedicated foundation that holds a marketing and development budget, this will change in time.

Do you know what the developer did to advertise AUR to the people in Iceland. I am part of the Guldencoin community and as you can see with our distribtion stats under 2000 people have claimed with a population of 17 million in the Netherlands. The coin has also just turned 1 year old and has plenty merchants, been on the media and even RT but only 1918 people have claimed. Any tips or ideas the AUR developer used would be welcomed.

https://distribution.guldencoin.com/#/stats

Something that is a concern is that EFL with the same coin supply also claimed around 40 000 people in the Netherlands claimed but that was proven as a scam as the coin creators got caught out by having bigger sells in EFL on the exchanges then was meant to be in supply at the time. Now there has been community takeover and they also got a foundation built. Looks like AUR going to head in same direction.

I know some members in Guldencoin have invested in AUR so came to check it out so please let me know how they advertised and I can give this information to our team.

Let me share come facts and opinions I have about AUR.

1. I proved to myself it was a scam when I did some peer lookups during the airdrop, there was less then 150 active nodes. I would say less then 70 at this point in time.
2. The developer is not from Iceland, this is the reason you will never ever get him to reveal his true identity.
3. AUR was created by a smart and patient investor who most likely can wait it out and present some feel good stories to con people.
4. Same sock accounts used to defend the coin.
5. Not in a million years was 40 000 AUR given to unique people as per point 1.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin incredible scam exposed on: May 02, 2015, 05:34:22 PM
even wikipedia says it's a scam:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auroracoin

"It is widely regarded as a scam coin."

Who ever looses money on it deserves to do so because they didn't do their due dilligence.

I noticed its gone up 21.95% today and had $4,356 worth of business. I'm surprised people are still buying it.

I am from Iceland and this is a big scam, very well orchestrated to make the developer look innocent. Keep up the good work to warn people, they have a couple people pumping the coin to give it attention as they going to release code and with only a few coins in circulation they can inflate the price.

If these people truly cared about crypto currencies they would of started a new coin for Iceland which is fair and transparent, now they try to be transparent with full bags.

I'm holding a ton myself but frankly these allegations don't bother me too much. Most people in Iceland haven't heard of bitcointalk, let alone this thread. Auroracoin will succeed or fail on the ground in Iceland regardless of what FUDers say here.

Auroracoin succeeds it means we get duped like in 2008. Since I am the bad one I will leave you all to your devices and self enrichment program.

@Eggert, don't know what is a chill account or if that include me - but I understand your point - and shared most of it few time ago. But I personnaly know one of the foundation guy, Hermann, and i can tell you this is one of the most honest guy i know online. So the PnD fear is inexistant.

Do starting a new coin would have been a better move ?   I don't know, but the fact that Baldur Odinsen burned premine, that he never dumped any (you remember, when Aur was pumped by whales, was worth few bucks!) - is a good legacy to continue - no matter the strategic mistake done.

Aur is 45 in market cap, have a decent limited supply, is very well supported, have manpower and knowledge, have a nice branding, so i'm ok with pushing this project on a lot, and i do hope it will be the 2015 success story. Nobody is forced to buy some and help the team - but i did and there is some new face on a regular basis - it's pretty motivating (and fun).

Just so everyone is on the same page, you're worried about a total of like 40k remaining AUR in those addresses when 5.34 million was burned?

Thanks ltex

Eggert raised the concern that he can't trust the coin and that he wants a list of Icelanders who hold Auroracoin.

Baldur was supposed to be the guy to answer questions for people like eggert and once he left I decided to fill the vacuum.

Eggert if you spend some short time analysing the rich list you will see how transparent and trustworthy  this coin is.

1. The richest aur address is reserved for the foundation with one million air.
2. The next 15 addresses are the premined airdrop coins that have not been claimed.
3. The next 40 addresses are miners that mine Auroracoin.
4. From there there are about 200 people with more than 100 dollars worth of Auroracoin, these people have invested money above and beyond possibly claiming from the airdrop.
5. From there you have about 30 000 Icelanders holding between 100 and 1000 Auroracoin.

There is very little room for any scammers here, what needs to be done to win your trust eggert?

5. From there you have about 30 000 Icelanders holding between 100 and 1000 Auroracoin.
I can tell you right now this is a big lie, there is just over 300 000 people in my country and I would know many more people that have claimed these coins. This is 10% of my country. This is a big scam... good luck getting people to join your pyramid scheme!

I will only promote bitcoin with my people.

I am looking for names and contact details of my Icelandic brothers who are involved so i can contact them to ask questions. This is the type of trust I am talking about.

Hi Eggert,

I think shortly you can get those names. We already have registered an official foundation for Auroracoin and you are most certainly going to find the names and faces behind that once we are ready to give an official announcement that also contains a roadmap for future developmens.

Stay tuned ;-)

I will wait for this, thank you. Where in Iceland are you from?

I'm not, I'm from the Netherlands, but have been involved with Auroracoin from zero hour. I am one of a group of serious members that have formed a new dev group to take over from the developer that started this. In this group you'll find fellow Icelanders as well.

Do you know who started the coin? The details are important for transparency and also important someone from my country started the coin.

baldur odinson one of the people responding to you after being absent for almost a year started the coin. Your timing is impeccable mate, most country coins weren't started by people in their countries which is why you will never get a name or contact details. Sterlingcoin was started by Brits and they give there contact information freely on the website. Ask yourself why would someone remain anonymous if they have nothing to hide.

Oh and Welcome back to baldur odinson!

I am not baldur odinson if that's what you are implying but this is my concerns. Way too many scams in crypto to just say trust this, trust that without someone to be accountable.

He meant the other guy Eggert, who uses the name of Baldur Odinon here. He is just a community member that is very enthousiast over Auroracoin, not the original founder of it...

This just keeps getting worse. Sad Then who is original founder with the premine?

I've been in communication with some of the guys behind Auroracoin lately, and i'm pretty excited to jump in and help as well as i can with pushing further this great idea. Aurora has been one of my first ''love-affair'' in cryptos, and i'm more then happy to assist this great new birth.

I would handle with caution until premine is actually destroyed, but i can't resist, i keep buying at every price level.

Keep going guys !

Icelanders will only look at bitcoin  because it is stable and has more support. AUR would be too risky for most of us, if you know Icelanders we don't like risk after 2008 and financial trust is big problem for most people here.

Even if the pre-mine is dumped on the market... it will be absorbed over time. Personally I think it is just a minor problem, even if it is a problem at all. Bitcoin is far from stable and AUR has the possibility to become something great, but the Icelandic people need to trust it.

To get trust it's important to know the identities of the people involved with Aurora coin, if it were up to me I would start a new coin that is fair. The premine is also the only coins that stop the majority of AUR being owned by foreigners so destroying the premine has a disadvantage. No one able to contact this person with the premine?

1. Identities of bitcoin ho!ders are most difficult to know.
2. Identities of Auroracoin holders are most transparent in the world thanks to airdrop via kenitala.
3. Auroracoin has FAIREST distribution of all altcoin market thanks to airdrop via kenitala.

Are you going to buy in know or miss this train completely?

Can you share the link of the people involved?
