Economy / Reputation / Petition for TheButterZone

on: December 29, 2017, 07:24:18 AM

This is my PM that I should have sent to him but can't:
Just woke up. I deeply apologized for asking about not trading it in an exchange. I am asking to reconsider the red trust you gave me. It would be enough if you change it to neutral.
I just find it weird trading 50000 XRP for a dollar and it was like are you not really using an exchange for this and just trade it for a dollar.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / GOLD craze: BTG, ETG and... LTG?
|
on: October 26, 2017, 03:19:41 AM
|
Been wondering what this "gold craze" is all about or is it "gold series?" As we know, the fork is going near and one of the products of that is BTG (Bitcoin Gold) but seems like there's a gold version for Ethereum too called ETG (Ethereum Gold) and I had read that Litecoin will have LTG (Litecoin Gold). What do you think? Is the man behind this, the same? Attach a source if you somehow found a relevant info regarding this. Check this out (theymos' say regarding BTG and alike).

Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Related to Account "security"

on: October 16, 2017, 03:54:43 AM

A suggestion to the forum admins:
I think that whenever someone change their email there should be a confirmation mail to be sent to your email or even you change your password their should be a confirmation mail.
What do you think? I think it would not be too hard to implement this.
P.S. It would be nice to implement and not wait for the new forum software to finish. As I say, it would not be too hard to implement and it is better to improve the security of this old forum a little bit until the new forum software is finish.

Other / Meta / Suggestion: Made for Newbies
|
on: July 03, 2017, 10:40:35 AM
|
We can see a lot of Newbies that had been creating topics to ask questions which are asked a hundred or thousand times already and again we answer them and sometimes we include links that will help them like those that are pinned (stickied). Here are some examples of the common questions that are asked: How does forum ranks work and activity count?, Posting Guidelines and alike. Aren't you wondering why newbies are posting these which in fact the answers are already given? Maybe they are too lazy to read or search (I also think this at first) or they just didn't simply noticed it? Either way, I came up with a suggestion so here it goes: I suggests to make a redirect thread displayed in the home page of the forum where all the compilations regarding the things that a newbies should know before posting. It will be titled like this: Newbies - Read before posting. This is filed in the home page together with the boards/sections but instead of opening a board it would a redirection to a topic instead. In the left side of the entitled page there is an icon (a redirect arrow) like this: Why make this? - Newbies would stop or lessen (if not stopped) asking questions that are already answered and given hundred times.
- Newbies will have a better understanding how the forum works (i.e. ranks, activity count, post count, etc).
- Will make the forum much neater in a sense where the topics who are posted over and over again would somehow lessen if not abosolutely stop (with regards only in newbies' questions and alike).
- and other more that I missed to mention with regards to the topic.
This should include all the necessary things to know. Maybe we can also make another separate redirect link regarding Forum Rules? Here's the forum that made me come up an idea to also implement a feature like this here: Primedice Forum. I see no wrong adopting features like what they have in their forum but we need to ask for their permission first since it is theirs' and if it is fine for them then that would be great! Honestly, we need to upgrade this forum which will make it much greater like what it is and what it should be. What do you guys think? Is it a good suggestion or not? Share your thoughts below regarding this!

Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Fungible Shuffler- decentralized and secure mixing- workable?
|
on: July 23, 2014, 02:19:45 AM
|
-as far as I know, it requires no change to the bitcoin protocol?
-uses multisig, timelock, and cryptonote type ring signatures with a transaction chain that doesn’t need to be stored
Pseudo-code steps
1. A group of people communicate to shuffle coins. They would create a multisig address such as a 7 of 7 multisig. The multisig address would also contain a timelock so that if something along the line doesn’t work you can refuse to sign the multisig and funds will be returned back to the sender for everyone.
2. Each person creates a private key for a cryptonote type ring signature and calculates the address that would be associated with it.
3. Each person sends BTC to the multisig address. Attached to each transaction is extra data specifying the address they created in step 2.
4. Once everyone has sent their payments, the multisig address would have multiple payments with each transaction specifying an address.
5. The group now works together on a special ad-hoc ledger using ring signatures. The ledger system would work similar to cryptonote type currencies but would involve no mining. The initial state of what address contains what would derive from the multisig address correlating 1:1 with the ad-hoc “shuffle coins”. No new coins are ever created and coins only move. The group then starts moving the coins around to themselves and shuffles it around using ring signatures.
The ledger’s main goal is privacy so the group could in theory create a very large ledger with lots of movements as the whole thing is thrown out afterwards. To prevent flooding each “shuffle coin” transaction may have a super tiny fee so that when the system is done the total fees in the whole system are equivalent to one small BTC fee. And since the ledger is discarded, the latest ledger systems that mix the best will used and can evolve.
6. To set where the BTC end up, an un-spendable transaction is created with "shuffle coins" with attached data containing a BTC address. Each end transaction will have an amount of “shuffle coins” and associated address. Once all “shuffle coins” are un-spendable the group can begin constructing the end transaction.
7. A transaction is created that uses the multisig funds and sends them to all the addresses listed in step 6 with the exact same value. The fees used up in the system are added to the transaction too. After each party has confirmed that the funds they have deposited are being transferred to their new addresses they will sign the transaction. Each person can only verify themselves as they won’t be able to follow other people’s “shuffle coins”. You will see your coins and the rest will all add up to the initial multisig address amount.
8. If at any time a double spend is detected in step 5 the process quits and all members wait for time lock.
9. TOR used to protect IP correlations.
The end result is BTC into a single address that gets split up into many outputs with no way of knowing who got what because it is all obscured with ring signatures.
My crypto knowledge is pretty limited so I have no idea if something like this would work.

Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Create a transaction that adds a fee to an older transaction?
|
on: January 11, 2014, 03:10:53 AM
|
If there was a transaction that won't confirm it would be neat to be able to create a whole new transaction that is only fees and somehow a condition is set that the fees will go to whoever confirms the older transaction. If the older transaction gets confirmed before the new fees are relayed the fees just go to whoever mined the block.
Then if someone has a transaction that they need to confirm right away can add more fees to it if needed by right clicking or something on it and clicking "add more fees".
Would it be hard to do?

Economy / Service Discussion / Who runs coinpunk.com?
|
on: December 15, 2013, 08:11:51 AM

I like the idea of what coinpunk can offer and how it can do qr scanning with iOS, making it useful for iPhones that have Bitcoin apps banned. I know coinpunk.org is the software page done by Kyle Drake but who is doing coinpunk.com? I don't have the knowledge to host my own wallet but would love to have someone trusted running coinpunk for me.

Economy / Services / [HIRING] Python programmers for NGCCC (Colored Coin) development
|
on: October 29, 2013, 04:19:33 AM
|
Original ad by Alex Mizrahi (killerstorm): https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/bitcoinx/vontzzMyKEgI've been trying to hire programmers to work on NGCCC project for about a month. While I got some replies, so far I'm the only person who produced commits, see here: https://github.com/bitcoinx/ngcccbase/commits/master(Plazmotech's commit does't count because he just made indentation more consistent.) There's still a lot of work to do, so I still want to hire someone to accelerate the development. I'm not sure what was the problem so far. Maybe it was uncertainty about tasks and compensations. Let's try something different now: I can offer a fixed per-hour wage, say, 0.25 BTC/hour. (Please let me know if it's too low.) Also I will be hanging out in IRC and jabber, so there will be no uncertainty about tasks. Here's the workflow: 1. When you have some time available, check whether I'm online in jabber on in IRC channel. 2. If I'm there, ask me if there are any tasks. 3. We will discuss it until the task is clear. 4. You implement the task (possibly talking to me in process) 5. You get paid for the time you spent. Easy, eh? This is a limited offer: valid for 1 week from now, up to 20 hours can be paid. However, if this appears to be cost-effective, we'll continue.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin's Killer App = High Speed Anonymous Internet (TOR like)
|
on: October 27, 2013, 01:49:54 PM
|
Imagine TOR but optimized to be high speed as the whole network runs with BTC integrated. Bandwidth costs BTC using micro-transactions. Abuse of the network costs money/resources and the network is compensated in a free market fashion. Technologies like bitcoin are integrated, proof of work, and proof of storage, etc are all integrated. People would run Bitcoin-TOR like nodes to make a little bit of money while users enjoy high speed.
What makes it the killer app? People who want to surf anonymously AND have high speed will now have to get BTC to enjoy it! It will make a market that requires people to get bitcoin since such a thing is not available any other way.
