1141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][SBC] StableCoin ¦¦ A new breed of cryptocurrency ¦¦ RELEASED on: June 10, 2013, 07:16:22 PM
3rd EDIT
Feeleep is online but hasn't responded to my PM. I'm pulling my miners and going elsewhere until my account is properly credited for the the shares I've mined, which looks like every single one going back thru my transaction history. I'd recommend avoiding this pool until the issue is resolved, which is kind of a pity because the only other pushpool listed in post #2 of this thread is closed to registrations.

I am sorry that you are having issues with the other pool.  I would like to open registrations on mine, but unfortunately the network hash rate has dropped to the point that even though my pool has dropped to 40MH/s at the moment we are still more than 45% of the network.

Registrations will automatically unlock when the network hash has increased such that we are less than the limit of 45% of total network hash.

Given all the troubles that FTC encountered yesterday it's more obvious than ever how important it is to keep any one pool from taking too much of the network hash and that sort of thing is why the automatic limit was instituted in the first place.

I really expected there would be more good pools to use by this point.

The only other option that I have would be to open a new and entirely separate pool for SBC in addition to my regular one, which I really wasn't planning on doing, but it wouldn't be difficult.

Thoughts ?

http://silverwolf.ath.cx/sbc
you misunderstand what a 51% attack is, it does not require 51% of the network, nor does 51% of the network ensure success. Such an attack is possible with 40% or even 30% of the network. Its likelihood of success is just relative to the percentage. Thus there is really no reason to shut registration on your pool

1143  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / error: txNew does name not a type (.1 BTC reward for solution) on: June 10, 2013, 03:12:33 PM
As a proof of concept, I'm trying to make an altered client that makes the genesis block spendable. I know this can be done with addUnchecked by sending it the TX and the block hash. I've started by trying to recreate the genesis block TX by pulling this code from InitBlockIndex:

Code:
        // Genesis block
        const char* pszTimestamp = "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks";
        CTransaction txNew;
        txNew.vin.resize(1);
        txNew.vout.resize(1);
        txNew.vin[0].scriptSig = CScript() << 486604799 << CBigNum(4) << vector<unsigned char>((const unsigned char*)pszTimestamp, (const unsigned char*)pszTimestamp + strlen(pszTimestamp));
        txNew.vout[0].nValue = 50 * COIN;
        txNew.vout[0].scriptPubKey = CScript() << ParseHex("04678afdb0fe5548271967f1a67130b7105cd6a828e03909a67962e0ea1f61deb649f6bc3f4cef3 8c4f35504e51ec112de5c384df7ba0b8d578a4c702b6bf11d5f") << OP_CHECKSIG;

But it doesn't work. Thoughts?

FTC offers absolutely nothing over LTC and is the laziest copypaste job ever. Same genesis block and everything.

1146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Exchange Confirmed][Pools] PowerCoin PWC RELEASE IS NOW! on: June 09, 2013, 04:17:29 PM
Word of advice to new readers: it's safe to ignore Hydroponica. He doesn't even understand how to run mining software (he was asking here a few weeks ago), and now he's suddenly an expert on crypto-currencies ...

Anyway, I see there is a chronic lack of PWC pools. Anyone knows any solid ones?
except hes right, this coin is shit, and was launched with a blatant lie attached (powercoin coming to btce). mine any other coin than this, youll be better off.

Out of all the shitcoins made, the one's he makes are the more useless ones. He comes up with inappropriate coins(VaginaCoin/WeedCoin), that are pointless. I think it ruins this section even more as it is.

I for one think he should be banned.

Hazard sets crypto back!!! he is vulgar and childish and should not have a voice on this elite forum. He creates distrust in crypto and brings shame to us all!!!!

1153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ANC] Launching AnonCoin - Prebuilt Windows binaries. Not PRE-mined. on: June 07, 2013, 03:03:15 PM
"oh hey you can use my coin behind a proxy" is NOT a selling point.

Do you read, or just comment...?

Quote myself:
"
Also, the name isn't just because of the upcomming features. It's also a "activist" coin agains the Central bank monopoly which try to stop bitcoin and all other coins if you haven't noticed. Believing the Central banks won't try to stop coins, is naive..
"

And I do not hide that every coin can be used behind a proxy.
"
All coins should support TOR via the proxy setting, but as far as I know none got TOR seed nodes. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
"

The coin is as said, again, meant to live on darknets, not use darknets as a proxy. Also it's a "activist" coin.

So in the end, this is not selling.. It's a offer, if you don't want it, then don't use it. Simple as that.
All coins are "activist" coins. Every single god damn one. Your coin offers nothing unique or special, just points out the obvious. Your coin is no more resistant to "central bank monopoly" pressure than every other coin.

There is nothing that forces people to use the coin on the darknet. Therefore that is not a feature.

But hey, you have a 4chan esque logo. You might attract some kiddies with it!
1154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ANC] Launching AnonCoin - Prebuilt Windows binaries. Not PRE-mined. on: June 07, 2013, 02:49:20 PM
What is anonymous about this coin? By nature all of these coins are 100% transparent but that doesn't mean anonymous. Just because I might not be able to tell A3jkh3234asdlknfk32h423nkjsadnf belongs to "someuser" doesn't mean I can't see that user's transactions. This is NOT anonymous...

Yes of course you can see transactions. What this coin is aiming for is to be used on darknets, which make it difficult to track regarding IPs etc. Also I2P/TOR provides a great encryption layer, but yes, it does not help the transactions. The transactions can never be anonymous in the way you describe it.

Anonymity is not a boolean, you have to know how to be it.. You can't just download a software and expect to be guaranteed 100% anonymous.

Also, the name isn't just because of the upcomming features. It's also a "activist" coin agains the Central bank monopoly which try to stop bitcoin and all other coins if you haven't noticed. Believing the Central banks won't try to stop coins, is naive..

Note, paypal etc isn't allowed anymore to do transactions which can be related to bitcoin trading. Not at least, it isn't the first time Central banks have stopped other currencies that have become large enough to threat their monopoly.

Load of FUD since this applies to literally every single coin

"oh hey you can use my coin behind a proxy" is NOT a selling point.
1155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'll create Crypto coin for you in 0.1 BTC to 1 BTC on: June 07, 2013, 02:47:23 PM
So what do I get for my .1 BTC? An empty pile of source? How about for my 1BTC, can you make me a coin that can send messages along with transactions? You might consider more details for your offer. At the moment it reads like:

"I will read a step by step guide and create you a coin you could make yourself if you'd learn to read..."

looks like everyone is trying to get mesages into coins now lol if i hadent told anyone about my idea my coin would be the first lol
Completely and entirely false.

1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Seeing the same recieve address on an altcoin. on: June 07, 2013, 01:41:07 PM
if both coins share the same prefix, then yes.

such an event is almost statistically impossible. you're more likely to win the lottery 10 times in a row.
1158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: June 07, 2013, 06:17:47 AM
I do believe China has great use and actual demand for an exchange traded dedicated coin, though doubt it anybody would just accept the fork. I rather suspect somebody will revive the current chain mid-term.
Pretty much impossible given how high the difficulty is.

Would hard fork imply the current blockchain wallets remain intact?
Yes

I could issue a hardfork for this coin if people really wanted it. But this coin is shit and really should die Cheesy

Of course, the exchanges, pools, etc would all have to agree on a fork for it to actually do anything.
