Warned you guys before don't support BigVern he is a greedy asshole who will let his hash get to 60% of a coin like he did with WDC and not do anything about it. If you like supporting assholes who destroy coins go ahead and support his shitty pools.
I support vern because he takes care of his people great pools and hes straight up. Everything his community askes for he gives us. WDC pool grew so big because it was a great pool like all his other pools. There is so much garbage out there his wasnt giving crap tons of orphans so people mined it. He also ONLY takes donations on his pools no fees ever. I think cryptsy also has pretty low fees for an exchange. Don't have a problem with you either but no need to bash vern. His pools have always had low hash rate. The problem is he did nothing to help WDC, in fact he could of destroyed it a few times with over 60% hashrate of the total network. The fact that he ignored this and did nothing about it shows his lack of concern for the "people" who he helps so much. End of the day it's your choice I just wouldn't support an asshole like that. He COULD have destroyed WDC. He didn't. Just because he had the power to doesn't make him an asshole. He just got extremely lucky that the block didn't fork, the fact that he didn't listen to anyone telling him to curb his hash rate, shows that he is reckless and doesn't care about anyone and that makes him an asshole. There's no possible 'random' method of determining block rewards. Whatever mechanism you have in place will be cheated to hell in back. Just like with junkcoin.
^^ This. And of course, that is something that OP knows and have used to pre-mine the first 500 blocks VERY profitably.. DERP! The guy who said that was an idiot. If you base the block reward on something that can't be known ahead of time reasonably, like the previous block's hash, it can't be cheated. this idiot uses a simple random number generator to determie block rewards. guess what happens when i remove that and just return max block reward instead? i will be posting an altered client that gets 5k coin rewards every time, in the next hour or so. this coin is trash and needs to die. Hate Hate Hate..... do it hazard that would be amazing! Challenge accepted your tarnished rep is now on the line.....again. my tarnished rep? if these coins are open to such simple vectors of attack, they have no business existing. mining resources should not be wasted on them. etc. if i dont do it, someone else will come along and do it. thats how the world works. know why good coins like btc and ltc havent been attacked? because its not possible. |

Can you set the block chain to download from the middle? Gets the latest block and builds forwards and backwards at the same time?
That doesn't accomplish anything since your download speed remains the same anyway. Downloading blocks isn't what takes a long time. Verifying them is what takes forever. So if I was to be a customer and wanted something you would just say it's wrong? hmmm It means I can mine as soon as I open the wallet. Old blocks are likely less relevant and should be de-prioritised over new ones. As verification takes long old blocks are most likely verified already by somebody else and errors whatever corrected, so they are less important to me. These thing I care about and you want my money, maybe you could actually sell this product to me as I'm sure competition exists. I really shouldn't have to explain why I want something, just implement it and get paid...if not possible that's fine to. Because its not even feasible. Such a method would work if EVERY node on the network was honest and there was never a forking issue. This method of getting blocks just opens new vectors of attack. Unless you download and verify every block sequentially, there is no way to verify that a block from the ''middle of the chain'' even came from the real block chain. |

Really need to get the source code on github updated I just tried to compile on a Mac and it gives this: make: *** No rule to make target `src/qt/res/icons/bitcoin.icns', needed by `tulips-Qt.app/Contents/Resources/bitcoin.icns'. Stop.
Meaning bits are missing, never had a problem compiling other coin clients. Just create an icns file and drop it in that folder, not hard, there's several online convertors |

This is almost certainly intended behavior by their creators. It allows them to premine while maintaining the illusion of "fairness".

This is absolutely a valid argument. For anyone who thinks this can't happen, it happened with GameCoin. Someone (presumably the developer) was able to override the mined blockchain with an even longer blockchain, giving all of the rewards to that one person. No, gamecoin just used the exact same genesis block as feathercoin, and didn't bother to add new checkpoints. Someone just copy pasted the feathercoin block chain and it began propogating across the network. |
