Herp... Derp!  That's what it sounds like when you talk, dude.  Maybe because the customer didn't want the order voided?  Any customer has been able to cancel their orders at any time.  Are you seriously so dense that you can't even figure out that if the people who ordered the 1500 GH/s units don't want 3x 500 GH/s units, they could get their money back?  Seriously?

You are a joke dude.

Josh you seem a little angry. You ok?

You do know that when you place an order and don't pay for it immediately, it's entered in the system when you do pay for it, right? No?  Oh, my mistake.  I thought you had some intelligence.

Lol, so you still accepted payment for a product that was removed from market? Why not void the unpaid orders?

The only piece of trash here is you, Charlie... sorry.  You've shown yourself to be woefully misinformed and name dropping to make yourself feel better.  It's ok my little man, you can play your little make believe all you want, as long as it gets you through the day.

Go on Charlie, show us a picture of Elon Musk and you somewhere that isn't a public event, heh.  No?  I wonder why not...

Josh thank you for giving me a valid reason to post this picture:

I'm soliciting community feedback for lecture requests for our Udemy course. Anything you guys want to see over the coming months?

So I hang out with Elon Musk, but live in my Moms basement. Lol, Josh is a funny dude.
685  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 26, 2013, 02:15:08 AM
You know what the best part was for me? The blatant lie about the 4th. But you know with BFL math all numbers are really just ranges of possibilities. 1 can turn into 6 in Perryland and 10 in Arsland. It must be a fantastic place.

I'd be laughing if people didn't suffer so terribly especially with the bitcoin preorders. It really makes me sad.

We discontinued the 1500 GH/s Minirigs on... April 4th... yeah, you are right on the ball there Charlie... you really told us!  I mean, you were only behind by a mere 2 weeks in informing everyone what ... quite literally...  they were already aware of... except you.  You're the smartest dude in the room you're in right now, of that I have no doubt.  BTW, how is your mom's basement there in Boulder?

But you sold one on the 8th? You're a piece of human waste Josh

Riight Charlie... post a picture of you and a celebrity at an event with a bunch of people around and suddenly "Elon Musk is a friend of mine!" ... well hell, by that token, Penn Jillette, Jack McDevitt, and Roger Waters are close personal friends of mine!  Thanks!

At some point this must feel like a parody of a real fight. Seriously this is how an executive spends his time?

Just like everything else you spout, Charlie, this is also a lie.  "I know Elon Musk personally" ahaha... yeah right.   Sure, we believe you
.

yeah.......

And about those 1500 GH/s minirigs? I was quoting as saying they can't exist. Now you are building 500 GH/s rigs. Yep....

Wow, just wow. I'm really truly sorry you can't comprehend what I'm saying nor the differences between Tesla and BFL. You make me a sad panda. I now need a hug

TESLA motors is a scam as well since they're a new company and have only released one shipment of their electric sports car and have the possibility of taking off with all of the pre-order money.

Please don't bring this garbage to our forums. I personally know Elon Musk and it is terribly insulting to compare Tesla to BFL. Tesla never:
  • Lied to their customers about the Range, Price and Performance of their Vehicles
  • Accepted millions of dollars in pre-orders, broadcasted a release data and then delayed for over a year
  • Called their customers stupid or insulted them for asking questions about delays or product changes
  • Delivered a substandard product. They won motor trend's car of the year

As for the one shipment of cars, you are either stupid, a liar or just blatantly misinformed. They have delivered hundreds of roadsters and have produced thousands of the model S. They are on target for at least 12,000 model S vehicles by the end of this year. They have been nothing but honest with their predictions about shipments and delays and have managed customer expectations magnificently. Tesla is the literal model for how to manage customers. BFL is the literal polar opposite.

Tesla has also been open with their funding structure from Elon and Larry Page's investment to the venture capital firms they worked with. All R&D was funded with investor money and that has been verified by the IPO process. BFL has never once let any independent entity look at their books.

Furthermore, Tesla has welcome the media and customers to their factory to show the production lines and innovations they have brought to the automotive industry. Josh has never once let anyone inside BFL's facility so we can see our products we paid money for being tested and produced. Pictures of a PCB isn't transparency. Tesla has been open about its suppliers and is held accountable for statements they make. BFL is not.

I read gmax's post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=53855.msg642768#msg642768 and I'm wondering what happened to the project and if there are any other similar projects involving autonomous agents by Bitcoiners.
695  Bitcoin / Project Development / The Bitcoin Education Project on: May 23, 2013, 05:47:54 PM
I'd like to post a followup on the Bitcoin Education Project:

Our Mission
The Bitcoin Education Project (BEP) was founded by Charles Hoskinson in 2013 to resolve two problems in the Bitcoin ecosystem. First, to reduce the knowledge barriers to entry for everyday people to enter the Bitcoin world. And second, to make Bitcoin more relatable to  mainstream activities.

Since its inception, BEP has grown to many contributors and partners including Udemy, Bitcoin Magazine, Let’s Talk Bitcoin and numerous veterans of the Bitcoin community. We are united by our desire to expand the community to the world and by our passion for benefits Bitcoin brings to commerce.

Our Values
All projects request a set of core values that unite the collaborators. The Bitcoin Education Project is no different. We believe in the following six tenets:

Objectivity
Transparency
Accuracy
Accountability
Inclusion
Honesty

Objectivity

Our goal is to educate the mainstream about Bitcoin. In this process, we have a duty to ensure the information we have presented is done so in an objective manner. We cannot allow a passion for the future of money to eschew existing problems with the Bitcoin infrastructure. All content produced must be held to a fair and balanced standard.

Transparency

The Bitcoin Education Project will always make every attempt to discuss its finances, partnerships, contributors and agreements with any entity that is interested. Our content generation and vetting process, long term goals and also marketing collaborations shall also be freely discussed. There are no closed doors at BEP.

Accuracy

Errors are a reality of anyone seeking the production and distribution of knowledge. We will never accept that our work is perfect nor accept misinformation as a result of a mistake or malice. Whenever we encounter inaccurate information regarding Bitcoin, its ecosystem and history, we will make every attempt to correct it regardless of origin.

Accountability

Everything we produce is connected to an author. Authors cannot be anonymous and are held to our content standards. We are accountable for the materials we distribute.

Inclusion

Academic merit means nothing in the world of Bitcoin. This ecosystem was first conceived by an entity impossible to credential. Therefore, we welcome everyone in the community to contribute to our project regardless of education, geography, philosophy or vocation. All contributors are held to the same standards and are given the same opportunities to educate the world.

Honesty

A simple rule for everyone to follow. Just don’t lie. It is amazing that this value has to be explicitly stated, yet necessary. All associates of BEP are expected to be honest in their affiliation with the project.

Our Goals
The Bitcoin Education Project has three goals:

  • To Eliminate Misinformation about Bitcoin
  • To Create and Implement a Process to Generate and Vet Community Built Content Intended to Educate and Evangelize the Mainstream on Bitcoin
  • To Bring 1 Million New Users into the Bitcoin Ecosystem by the End of 2014

Goal 1: Misinformation

We all have heard the words ponzi scheme, bitcoin hacked, anonymous currency used to buy XYZ. Such statements are partly due to the complexity and experimental nature of Bitcoin and partly due to misinformation from media sources and peers. One of our goals is to eliminate or at least greatly reduce misinformation whenever it occurs through the distribution of creative commons content.

Goal 2: Content Generation

The Bitcoin Education Project seeks to become an engine to generate and vet content made by members of the Bitcoin community. Our goal is to find people with amazing knowledge, skills and raw talent and help them share it with the world so we can improve our community. Great ideas always seek to lift everyone up regardless of where they start.

Goal 3: One Million People

The more people in the ecosystem; the more Bitcoin is worth. Everyone who uses Bitcoins has an incentive to bring people into our community. BEP seeks to do this by removing the knowledge barriers to entry and making people interested in Bitcoin. Our partnership with Udemy allows us to distribute a free course that is ever evolve, but over time we’d like to broaden our initiative to include different approaches to integration and evangelism

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are looking for contributors to the project. PM me if you'd like to help in any way. Also if you'd like to donate:

697  Economy / Trading Discussion / IOU Systems for Bitcoin to Fiat on: May 23, 2013, 05:38:49 PM
BTCLuke and I have been studying the notion of a P2P Exchange and he has created this list of criterion:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212841.0

A P2P Distributed Exchange MUST:

1. Be without any central points of failure, since a government or two WILL be coming after it one day. I suggest a Bitorrent-like software schematic.
2. Show everyone a very large number of possible trades to choose from, (thousands?) so assets can form a stable price. (e.g. a Bitcoin is going for $120)
3. Transact trades pretty much INSTANTANEOUSLY, so when you're watching a graph and want to trade at a very specific time you can do so. (This is extremely important for arbitragers and other traders who help keep the price fluctuation down.)
4. Offer Graphs and APIs for for graphing like MtGox does.
5. Have three-user (trustless) trading, so a non-interested 3rd party always hosts the trade between the buyer and seller. (And should provide Escrow too!)
6. Hold and transfer VALUE, not just IOUs. (With Cryptocurrency this is easy... With fiat? Not so much.)

It seems criterion 6 may require an IOU system; however, is there a way to do it without the need for trust? Is anyone activity studying IOUs and methods to enforce repayment without regulation or trust?
698  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Request a Technical Summary of Colored Coins on: May 23, 2013, 05:36:14 PM
I've seen the term colored bitcoins floating around and I'd love to know more about them. The purpose of this thread is to first summarize colored coins. Discuss their uses. And also aggregate links with more information.

Is my suggestion of sending paper fiat through the mail too absurd to deserve a response??

Then the bitcoin funds have to be held until the money arrives. Also the agent of escrow as to then resolve disputes in the event you claim the check was lost in the mail.

I've actually come to the conclusion that the main problem is this forum.
We are discussing a free market solution, in the confines of a socialist committee - of course it isn't going to work, nothing built by committee ever did!

Maybe the answer is to just find a number of different members who agree with a basic idea, start building, and announce a beta in a few weeks or months?

Let the market decide?

I'm agnostic to the ideology or the committee. I could care less if Satoshi Nakamoto himself resolves this problem. I just want a solution for criterion 6 or its IOU equivalent. How do you remove trust from an IOU system?

Fixed exchange could work, but how do you prevent the entity selling these IOUs from walking away with your money?
