501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 09, 2017, 01:47:41 AM
Looking for some advice on the best way to update to the latest version.
I tried copying over the database directory and wallet.data file from the old beta.4 folder to the new rc.1 folder but when I run I just get a lot of 'invalid block' errors in the logs.
Apologies if this has been covered already but I've looked back over the thread and can't find an answer.
Hope I don't have to fully re-sync!

Unfortunately for the new version you have to resync. Network was resetted to a new chain going back to block #0.

What you need to do is to download the new wallet and copy only the wallet.data. Whatever balance you had from the beta network will be carried over to the RC network.

Excellent post.

Devs you've really got to do something about this..

If you mean to say dev is going to zero out that account, I don't think that will happen. I won't agree to that.

If you mean to say make sure the next rounds of distribution remains fair and prevent similar incident from happening, you bet!

BTC drop and bounties will be announced soon. Watch out for it!
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 08, 2017, 11:47:15 PM
What is the maximum number of validators in RC? I heard about 64 validators. Will this number be the same in mainnet?

This will depend on the result of the RC tests. If it proves to be steady we will keep the 64 max validators. If not we will adjust accordingly.
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 08, 2017, 11:52:18 AM

Mdodong but it's not really fair to punish everyone b/c one fucker decided to scam the system. So he get to keep his coin and the rest of us that don't own spare BTC loses too. My BTC is all tied up in Alts and we all know how bad Alts are currently doing, so i can't even sell my alts to get in on the airdrop. I owe a nice amount of ETH, but i bought in at 310, so i can't also sell my ETH for BTC to get in on the airdrop. So you can see how this sucks for some of your supporters. Like i said before, the signature airdrop has completed for a while but some of us keep wearing it cos we truly believe in the project and want to aid in increasing it's visibility. It kinda sucks that this one scam artist gets to keep his coins, then the rest of us pays for his or her atrocity. It's a lose lose situation for us.

No one is punishing anyone. Why do you keep on bringing that up? So what if he has more coins than anyone at this point. That will change as soon as we go through the rest of the distribution rounds. That wont matter much.

Yes it sucks that one person gamed the system early on. It sucks that you don't have the same amount of sems. It sucks that you may not have a chance to participate in the next round of btc drop. I can't participate either for the same reason you mentioned. This is not about you or me or the existing community.

The purpose of airdrop is to gain massive adoption and awareness of semux outside of our existing community. This will help everyone in the long run.

Stick to the plan. Trust the dev.

505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 08, 2017, 06:08:06 AM

Sounds like a great idea to use bitcoin block snapshot to create awareness among bitcoin community. Hope there is measure to limit big wallet holders such as exchange.

Don't worry. There will be limit set for each addresses no whale can get it all.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 07, 2017, 10:24:42 PM
What you're missing is that the block snapshot has been pre selected so no one can cheat their way into creating a bunch of addresses with crazy number of btc's on it. It's all luck this time.

If it was preselected already, what is the chance that at least someone in this world will claim his SEMs?
Semux has community of 150-200 people, maybe no one had his coins out of exchange at the time of snapshot.
Sounds like a lot of work for nothing in this case. Most likely no one who knows that Semux even exists will receive his SEM Cheesy

That's the point there. We want to invite more people outside who may have btc during the snapshot. This round is intended to spread more awareness outside of the community.

The goal is to have massive awareness and adoption of semux so that once we go live we have more people getting involved.

Other rounds of airdrops will be decided after this.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 07, 2017, 08:54:37 PM
Unfortunately people will play dirty everywhere and in any activities! Just buy the SEM of these people, it's no use sabotaging Semux because some newbies or cheaters got SEM... Semux going to market, the waves will correct these people, trust. Smiley

Buy in scammer? You joke? Better to forget about shit project, where devs allowed such dirty tricks. No good thing exept from such devs here and such project. This one cheater will pump and dump coin, and all people only lost money.

Well if you think this is a shitty project you are free to leave. Just because you cant get your way be implemented by the dev you would bad mouth this project. That's totally not cool!

It is known that one account had accumulated a lot of sems and his ways of doing so is not acceptable by many. It does not mean that we can take all his coins and zero out his account. That's just TYRRANY! It defeats the purpose of blockchain.

Further distribution of the coin is the answer to this centralization that you are so angry of.

I am a very early supporter

Is this competition worthwhile?

At that time,

I remember that time. Right after that stage the rewards from the faucet was checked and testing continues. Others who left during that time was left with fewer shares while others who continue helping build Semux got more coins. That's what it is.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 07, 2017, 11:38:49 AM
Distribution is very good.  There is still a larger community distribution and BTC distribution coming up.

I agree. Been part of the community since day one and early adopters are still here. Participation is high in solving problems new users encountered as well as with bug reporting and bug fixing. Also seeing a lot of new members investing via OTC thread.

515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread on: November 05, 2017, 09:12:49 AM
So instead of making a good duplicate checker, they are punishing honest people like me using only one account to get semux.

I agree you can check the same address. But how do you check multi-accounts with different SEM-addresses?
They can has different IP's, different twitters, e-mails, etc. It's not a problem to buy or to create different accounts.

All ways has pluses and minuses. I don't see an ideal way.

for those who are worried big btc holders will get the bulk of the drop, you don't have to worry. There will be a cap limiting the maximum sem to be given per btc holder.

And since the block snapshot has been pre selected no one can game the numbers at any point.

Also this wont be only method of distribution to be used. Depending on how it goes other methods will be utilized to further decentralize the distribution.

I will continue to support the network as a delegate , i have paid for a server to do this regardless of the reward . I really like this project and i think it will become great in the near future . As for the zero blocks that mentioned above , there is the fees reward , small but not zero . Waiting for info about the next round of airdrop so i can update my local thread , you can count in my support .
I agree. I also intend to continue running the validator, yes it would be nice to collect a reward in the short term for doing this - but this is a community effort as well and the community needs to put something into this also, not simply take out. I think this project has a long-term future and as such, I am happy to support it through the 6 months of RC. I do hope there is a fair and broad distribution in the next round and that large accumulations don't happen by one means or another.

Appart from that, best of luck with the switchover of the network. I will be watching closely with interest.

Count me in! I'll be willing to run a validator without block rewards(block #0-500k). this will ensure that the network stays stable as well as give time to further decentralize the network by distributing more SEMs to the community.
