241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should there be any age limit of Gambling? on: August 01, 2020, 06:21:00 PM
So the thing is, how can the gambling webpage see to it that the age limit to gamble and use their website is strictly followed?

As I understand it, this minimum age is to avoid legal complications

The truth is, casinos don't care so much about your real age (whatever that might be) as about avoiding legal issues. So if you are 12 years old and agree that you are over 18, you or your parents (a caretaker or a legal guardian) cannot drag the casino to court on the basis of allowing people under age to gamble. Put differently, gambling operators are not going to take it any further unless they are forced by the law

This is what I've been telling too, they won't even bother putting it as a requirement if no one really requires them to. They just do it for the sake of complying legally to the terms they need for them to operate.

We are just the people who are concerned if some kid really fake their age to play on those online gambling sites. Those casino's won't waste their time double checking if their players are really qualified, as long as those players can play and be a gambler to their site, they won't really care.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: August 01, 2020, 06:03:11 PM
Not just casinos but also bars where it is said that they are still throwing parties in there. As far as I know they are now restricting those and I hope it can help them decrease that spike.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nevada-coronavirus-restrictions-bars-restaurants-again-as-covid-hospitalizations-spike/

The title of the web article and the first paragraph say it all:

Quote
Nevada tightens restrictions again as COVID hospitalizations "spike"

Carson City, Nevada — Governor Steve Sisolak announced Thursday that Nevada would re-implement restrictions on bars and restaurants in certain counties to prevent further spread of coronavirus due to what he called a "spike" in confirmed cases. "We're still watching a continued increase in confirmed and suspected COVID-19 hospitalizations," he said.

Basically Social Distancing and curtailed movement in venues such as Clubs, Pubs, Bars and Casinos are the new normal until such time as there is a vaccine.

Learn to live with it.

Undecided To be honest, this new reality is somewhat depressing. If this continues for a long time, we will see many associated problems such as increased levels of mental disorders / suicide, etc.
The city in which I live is now the peak of the holiday season and there are practically no problems associated with the virus, but I'm afraid to imagine what awaits us again in the fall.

You have to be ready, a few months ago, our country decided to open businesses once again. And now we are facing almost 4k new cases per day, we didn't even flatten the curve when our country decided to open up again because of the economy. We are just getting 800-1k cases per day by then, but now, we are reaching 4k cases per day. We can't even call it a second wave cause we are not done with the first wave yet. I hope someone can really help us, its kind of frustrating complying to everything but nothing really happens.

And yup, we are definitely learning to live just like this, but we are still hoping cases will slow down. You are right with the other problems too, unemployment, business closing down, depressions, hunger, death, medical practitioners dying, and etc.
243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 01, 2020, 05:49:24 PM

That remains to be seen though, Perez is proven a valuable player, but added with another great player, I guess they need a good teamwork, just like the Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle in Northport back then, they were ineffective together.

Terrence and Stanley tandem didn't materialized due to the fact that they're not being back up that much, though they still getting good spots and trying to be present in each playoffs but without the effort from the managements they're still nothing compared to all star cast opponents.  Moving back to Adam and Perez we have to see first the chemistry and the impact that they'll going to bring to the team and start discussing about them.

I remember this, they didn't materialize as a good combination because I think they play the same, its not that great having them inside at the same time. They didn't have a connection cause each of them is trying to take the spotlight, they are overlapping with each other. I think a good duo plays a different role, sometimes one is a pg, and the other one is a center or a power forward.

Agree with you about adam and perez, I can't comment about it cause I haven't seen them play for a couple of times. Both were good but it doesn't really mean anything yet.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Education on: July 31, 2020, 12:05:51 PM
We can't make bitcoin as education without adopt and legal as using currency payment, just several country have allowed using bitcoin as payment transaction and look possibility to make bitcoin as education, when bitcoin still illegal payment transaction will get trouble with government how to make bitcoin as education.
For something to be suitable for educational purposes, it should not necessarily be adopted or legal. Illegal doesn't mean we can't talk about it. In case of bitcoin, not only can we talk about it, we definitely should talk. Bitcoin is a phenomen of our days, it consists of several disciplines and in order to fully comrehend the technology and philosophy behind bitcoin, we should learn all of them. History of money, keynesian and austrian model, history of banking, distributed decentralized systems, cryptography, mathematics, physics, biology and many other diclsciplines should be taught to students in order for them to start understanding the whole picture of what bitcoin brings into the world.

Which of that should become legal to start learning?

Yup,  it doesn't necessarily need that a certain country should adopt btc and blochain tech first before students and other people can learn it. We can learn it through seminars and workshops. I just hope that the seminars will be about the btc, blockchain tech, history, crypto and not about how one will get rich in these industry. It should be about the technology, not something that will look like an unreal seminar.

And for a country to adopt btc, don't we need people to actually use it? and for people to use it, they should learn what is it. We should start by making people know what it is, start by teaching them. Not the other way around. It may not be accepted as a regular subject in school, but there are tons of ways on how it can be taught.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Call Bitcoin Blockchain? on: July 31, 2020, 11:49:06 AM

What I want the forum to discuss is this:
I believe that the application of Blockchain cut across many industries such as healthcare, logistics, insurance, governement, education and so and so forth.
Why is the application of Blockchain to finance has this popularity than application of Blockchain to other sectors?
What do you think?

-snip-

I believe when people try to apply blockchain to other industries, like those you mentioned, they are thinking in the wrong way.

The common approach is: "I have the solution, the blockchain. What do I have to do to fit the problem to my solution?".
While it is, in fact, the other way around: "I need a database with transparency, immutability, security, etc. What are the available solutions? Will blockchain do it?"

When thinking like this, most people will realize that they don't need blockchain at all at their industries.

I agree with this, an industry should not use a new technology just because its new, the new technology should offer solutions for them to use it. In the case of the blockchain tech, it offers solutions that is somehow can be use in finance.  Cause it offers security, transparency, etc. Connected to why satoshi built this in the first place, to solve the problem of money being centralized.

And agree too that there are other industries who used the blockchain tech even though they are not in finance, and yup, I think its because they need what the blockchain technology offers too. Why would an industry use blockhain if they don't have any problem that can be solve by it in the first place anyway?
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do hackers steal huge amounts of bitcoins? on: July 31, 2020, 11:21:36 AM
I was reading about Cashaa, that was hacked and 336BTC were stolen. But the hacker can't move them right? He will leave footprints. So why should hackers steal them since they can be found? For example if they want to convert them to fiat.

The only way I think you could get by from this felony is to keep them on very long term. So long that it may be forgotten. But still, it may.

There's a lot of ways, bitcoin mixer is one. And if you are asking why do they steal btc, its because they know ways so that the stolen btc will not be tracked. They know how they will not be caught. They are smart for hacking huge amount.

Isn't it obvious too that a thief steals because he needs money to be rich as easy as they can. I'm sure they also have a plan for that stolen btc. Who knows what is it, same with their intention in stealing btc's.

247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should there be any age limit of Gambling? on: July 31, 2020, 10:39:14 AM
There should be an age limit at least 18, most of the crypto casino there's always a confirmation if you are 18 or above when signing up to their website.
But we all know that anyone can confirm that they are 18 even though some are not and it's pretty dangerous since they might be addicted to it and won't stop playing.

ya.ya.yo!

There is no way to confirm the age of gambler on the gambling site unless the KYC is mandatory at the time of signup. You signup on the gambling site and submit your documents. The Site verifies those documents and issue you the password to login and play. No site does that because the main purpose of the gambling houses is to make money, no matter who is playing at their site.
I do agree, gambling sites are more focused on gathering more players than having a verification of what age their players are,

And as far as I know, gamblers in online is much preferred to play on gambling site without KYC, they find it less hassle and their identification is safe from the possibility of making it into public.

Same, I think those casino owners doesn't even think of the age of the players, all they care is their business growing. They just put the age requirements because it is needed, or the government requires them to. But nope, they don't really care. Specially when you are gambling online.

KYC is really a hassle for me too when I'm using crypto, so yeah I prefer gambling sites without one. I think its the same with other gamblers too.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming Industry and Cryptocurrency! on: July 26, 2020, 05:33:11 PM

Even me who seldom plays will try to learn that game for it. It will be a blast if the game is really a good one, a quality high graphics game which is enjoyable and on the level of esports game right now.

Make it more competitive and players will go and be encourage supporting this industry.

I just think players who didn't even use crypto will learn how to be in the industry because of it. I'm sure game developers can think of ways they can earn crypto too from their players. For example are items that can only be bought in crypto too.

If the developers will create attractive gaming platforms for sure even non crypto players will start to comes up and support, will add more interest to crypto industries for sure.

Definitely, If a game is really good, a lot of those gamers will only be interested with the game alone. However, real gamers will try to know every inch of that game, use every thing inside it, so if crypto is a part of it, I'm sure it will be a start of their journey to the crypto community too. They will use it, earn it, and eventually it will be a part of their lives too.

A not so good game will only get old crypto users to play, but a fantastic game will get non crypto users to know and be informed about cryptocurrency by playing. And a nice way to know crypto is by using it. I just wish there will be a high end solid game that will use crypto inside it.
249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any tips or idea to earn money without investment or inviting friends. Need help on: July 25, 2020, 05:36:12 PM
Any tips or idea to earn money without investment or inviting friends. Need help beginner here thank you in advance God bless.

Just like what they said, your talent, strength and skills will help you own money during this time. You can earn crypto with it, some already said the choices. However, if you don't have a skill to showcase and in need of money during this pandemic. You can try transcription jobs, you don't need that much of a skill. Try applying for VA assistant too, you cans search about it and try finding legit sites or connection that can help you to be one. You just need to invest some time and patience to learn this things. It depends on where country are you from but freelancing can also be found thru facebook pages. Try reading on posts and you'll see a lot of choice and maybe one will work for you.
250  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: July 25, 2020, 05:21:06 PM
We are aware that most of the countries economy has gone for a toss and many are at the brink of collapse but who has been the biggest winner of this pandemic? is it corporate medical industry who are charging abnormous fee for treatment or else a particular regime who is silently buying stakes of major groups at lower price during this situation? Do you think this was a man-made virus to destabilize the world's economy and buy huge shares so that a vaccinations can be rolled out once the enough damage is made ?

This sounds like a legit conspiracy but I don't think so, there are just people who are so adept in taking advantage of a pandemic. Those who are already powerful but are still doing a sneaky move to be more powerful during the pandemic. One example is a country who are moving to get each land that they wanted to own, I don't even need to say the country's name.

Governments too are pushing their agenda during the pandemic, they are taking advantage of this pandemic for their own good. It is happening in my country as well. They even prioritize it better than the pandemic itself.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: July 25, 2020, 05:10:44 PM
The pandemic is still very active. I think they'll have to close Las Vegas soon.

I doubt it. The peak incidence is presumably behind and the health care system has a large margin of safety. But with the economy, everything is much worse and most likely the second wave of quarantines and severe restrictions will be fatal for it.

At what point do you suppose the pandemic will over-run Las Vegas (or any other major US city) given you don't seem to think there is anything wrong in the US at the moment with the nearing run-away numbers of cases?

The cases are climbing there and yet gamblers and visitors keep coming. In my opinion, it will be better for them to be close again, however, I think they are balancing the problem once they close it and when they continue operating it. If its open, new cases will happen and people will die. If they close it, unemployment, hunger, etc. More problem for the economy, so they have choose. And I think people from above will choose the risk of facing the virus, as long as they are the one that are safe.

Its possible to be suspended once again if there are a lot of employee who are reported as new cases, it will be blast contract tracing for sure.
252  Economy / Economics / Re: returning to normal on: July 25, 2020, 05:00:00 PM
In my own observation with regards to the crisis that we face this year, i can really say that this is not an ordinary crisis it is a worst crisis that isn't easy to pass on. Maybe we are not going to back to normal for a year and we need to still follow gidelines or maybe safety protocol even if the vaccine for the virus will release. I believe that patience and self discipline is the key to beat the virus.

Pandemic itself means that crisis is much bigger than our anticipation as well. Also, tis are the extraordinary times where humanity is above everything as this virus effects anybody be it rich or poor. Till vaccine is in place, one has to take care of them self and wear masks all the time and maintain social distance.

Yup, we are all affected, rich or poor, however I still believe we are still not on the same boat. Some are in the good and better place, some are already sinking. I just hope those who are sinking will receive help from the government and even from those people who are capable in helping. I'm not telling its mandatory, but helping in anyway can still be a big thing in fighting this virus. Just like what you've said, Humanity. We have to protect those who are sinking so they can avoid the virus too, in that way, we can prevent it from spreading too while waiting for the vaccine.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming Industry and Cryptocurrency! on: July 25, 2020, 04:48:46 PM
I'm not so sure about cryptocurrencies and the gaming industry.
Why? The ability to earn cryptocurrencies while playing and pay the price immediately  would pull in new users  who have  an axe to grind with the games be it  RPG, strategies, racing or something else. For the game industry it would open the new monetization roads while for cryptos it would attract newcomers into the field.
Agree, and it's a good idea, imagine that you're just playing an RPG game and grinding to get BTC? In that part, people will adopt the use of cryptocurrency and they will be curious on how does cryptocurrency works. I hope that they create a game that has a lot of features like in the "Real Player One" movie and the prize is bitcoin. Definitely, there will be a lot of gamers will be interested in that, it's a win-win situation for the cryptocurrency and gaming community, many will like it.

It is possible! Are there no present games right now who has a prize of btc? Its just so interesting and I can't believe we don't have it right now? I just think it is already happening. Even me who seldom plays will try to learn that game for it. It will be a blast if the game is really a good one, a quality high graphics game which is enjoyable and on the level of esports game right now.

I just think players who didn't even use crypto will learn how to be in the industry because of it. I'm sure game developers can think of ways they can earn crypto too from their players. For example are items that can only be bought in crypto too.
254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Education on: July 25, 2020, 04:39:43 PM
Teaching crypto in general to the students is a good move but isn't necessary or worse they will not put it in the curriculum.

First of all, most of the teachers aren't teaching about financial literacy (or maybe its just here in our country) so I think that the teachers will have a hard time teaching Bitcoin to the students. I see this very helpful but I doubt that they will put it in the curriculum or at least the students will be interested about this. Maybe there are some who are but most will not. There are some schools who are teaching blockchain or crypto already and that is a good move. I'm not expecting too much with this but if this will be added then good Smiley.

It might be impossible to include it in the curriculum right now, however I still believe some school may conduct workshops and seminars about the blockchain technology, and of course bitcoin will be a talk about it too. I think in my country it will be possible, and some schools are even conducting it even before the pandemic. It will be helpful especially to the courses that talks about computers, technology, and etc.

Also agree with you about financial literacy, it will be good to have it as a subject in schools.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin replace Gold someday? on: July 25, 2020, 04:14:07 PM
*snip*

bitcoin provides the option to make payments without any middle man in a completely decentralized way while gold is a metal that is used in many different industries from common jewelry to electronics and medicine.

This is what I've thought too, it can never replace an object that is used for different materials here. Unless we found a place where gold is overflowing for it to lose its value. Or maybe people will lose interest in material things in the future, where they will prioritize digital assets more, then it will be possible for btc to replace a material thing.

It will not replace gold, both will co-exist with each other in the future. We need them both.
256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why newbies involves in copying already treated topic on: July 24, 2020, 09:01:19 AM
I don't know but as a reader I somehow know if a post really comes from the OP or from an article, cause there's a written tone when a topic comes straigth from a crypto news article, wikipedia, etc.
Yeah, you can spot it by means of imagining how it sounds like while reading. If it sounds too formal then most probably it was a plagiarized post. The other method I use is by checking his post history Grin. Inspect whether there is a pattern in his way of posting or not. For example, if his recent post was very long and clean but almost the rest of his previous posts are one liners then he might really be a plagiarist.

But of course you cannot purely rely on these methods because they are considered as assumptions only. You must still find the original source. Evidences won't lie.

Same, I will see it if he was really that good in creating a post. Cause what do we know if he really is a news writer? lol jk. But yep we will see it in his previous post, if all his post are really a good written one. I will check if those post are not copied from somewhere. Its easy finding though, copy paste in google and the same article will pop up.
257  Economy / Economics / Re: The unfortunate event that is Quarantine. on: July 24, 2020, 08:19:54 AM
If you have good savings or you have an earning business, it's not wise to go outside as you have a choice to stay at home and be safe. However, for most people, majority of them are just relying on their salary, so they need to work to eat, and with that, they have no choice but to take the risk.

I think your opinion is not entirely correct. It all depends on one's motives and goals when leaving the house. In the current conditions, we must have an awareness that what we do or spend may be a continuation of the survival of others. Our activities outside the home can mean food for others. Our responsibility is to ensure that all parties follow pandemic protocols and procedures. I suggest those who have the disposable income to spend their money to strengthen the community economy.

My wife has a post-budget to buy food, detergent softener, and other household needs not from the store she usually shopped anymore, but she bought from her friends who eventually was forced to sell household goods because of the emergence of this pandemic, with the consideration that it will not be fun if we survive alone and our friends suffer. Following the Covid-19 protocol in all lines both individuals, communities, companies, and countries is indeed costly, but now it is the only way to suppress the spread of the pandemic and to bridge economic recovery.

I think both of you are correct tho, I think the right word is limit your activities outside just for the essential things you need. Don't go out if it wasn't for survival. Its true that some have no choice but to go to work even if its risky. That is essential. But both need to follow the protocol for their safety. The government should also provide for those workers too.

I also agree with your wife helping your friends who are working to survive. I do it too, I prefer buying to those people who already need it cause I understand how it feels. Same with my online shopping too, I prefer locally made ones so I can help with the economy of my country as well. So its a wise choice even as a consumer.
258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 24, 2020, 08:12:01 AM
I wonder if Mark Caguioa is still playing as well.
As you know in PBA, around 40 age is still not on a retirement period unlike in NBA where the late 30s is considering to retire.

I think its because NBA really is on a different level, some of the players who are already old can't really keep up with the new young players. In PBA, some of them can still really play with the new players. NBA players who are retired even play in other leagues after their NBA career cause they are still good though when they are playing with a different league.

When it comes to rafi and Asi, I think it will be a challenge for them, they stop for months or even a year, so they lose time in achieving what Jawo did, they will age a year without playing. Let's hope they can play as soon as possible. Well it wasn't really an issue for me cause both are great players and they don't need to prove anything.
259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess on Sports/eSports betting on: July 24, 2020, 07:47:25 AM
Chess still need advertisement, its only popular because it was taught on our sports class as one of the famous board games. And it is not an eSports yet, but there's a possibility since it got mainstreamed on streaming platforms. Even me who aren't interested on chess because of complexity but when I saw its potential, I get interested and watch some matches in chess platforms.

Chess is already advertised enough on Twitch, for example. But the talk is that chess will be less popular than football or even computer games (as a category of esport) just because there much more people which like to watch something fast and thrilling and don't consider chess as such game.

Yup, totally agree with you. I believe chess is really a game of tactics and analysis just like any other esports. However, it lacks the thrill, the fast pace, the graphics, sfx, sound effects etc we are looking for in a certain game. It isn't entertaining to watch for me too.

It will not be that popular compared to other games but still it will have its audiences and players. Some gamblers or viewers may not be in the mood for their favorite games, they will have a choice for a more calm game. Its still a choice so I'm still open for the idea of it.
260  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What or how does it feels to grow in rank?! on: July 24, 2020, 07:37:34 AM

That's a question for the newbies as I am myself one. This question has and still puzzles my mind on how it really feels. I guess a lot of you with ranks now where once in these shoes. I guess I'll find out in time by experience soon enough how it does feel. In the meantime, how about some you guys tell us, how you really felt.
We would love to hear it!
How about experienced
In the olden days, you will eventually rank up depending on your posts and activities, but now that we have merit members will have to work to get merits to rank up, but even if you have a high rank you need to keep up with your responsibility it's not about the rank but how well you know about the niche or industry you're in I have seen low-rank members with ample knowledge about blockchain and Cryptocurrency than some highly rank members.

Same thought, there are really a lot of newbies better than some of us when it comes to the technicality of btc. I just hope they are really newbies in this forum. I doubt they are just alter account of other members. Anyway, you are right that a higher account is a responsibility too. When you are old in this forum, I think it is a responsibility to contribute to it. I admire some of the members here. I learned a lot from them. Sometimes I read silently but I already new names who I can trust when it comes to new information.
