221  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID19 VACCINE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH? on: August 15, 2020, 01:55:45 PM
Nope, I don't even want to call it vaccine already if its still in phase 3. A lot of vaccines are in phase 3, not only the one in Russia. Its dangerous, that's why it is still in testing phase. I hope people who will get it are volunteers, cause it will destroy the public trust if it has side effects and those people who got it didn't even want it in the first place. I've read that one side effect is ADE, which make an illness worse.
222  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible to live without banks? on: August 15, 2020, 01:42:40 PM
As the technologies are evolving at such a speed its really hard to predict what we will get after 10 years. If we revisit back 10 years then people had rarely heard about BTC, BTC was just a two years baby then Cheesy, no one had the idea about it's capability. So in the future we may see some technology which has the capacity to disrupt the complete banking system it can be any crypto currency or can even be a new technology also.

-snip

If Banks decide to take the "Blockchain route", they'll continue to dominate the world's economy. This means that it'll be quite challenging to live without them as governments will continue to issue Fiat currencies for mainstream use. The only difference will be that Fiat will transition from the physical to the digital realm. It's very unlikely crypto will replace banks anytime soon because of this. Always remember that you can live without crypto, but not without banks.

Nonetheless, we have to face the fact that living only on crypto is just a dream. We can always make use of a crypto debit card if we want to get the "best of both worlds". With stablecoins in play, it's likely that the "unbanked" will get access to Fiat without the need to interact with banks. All that's needed is merchants and businesses to accept crypto more thoroughly (either through stablecoins or traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum) in the mainstream world. With increased adoption and popularity, crypto might someday become a fierce rival of the traditional banking system that has ruled the world's economy for years. Just my opinion Smiley

Agree with this, it will be impossible to live without banks, fiat and crypto will co-exist. Fiat is slowly transitioning to digital, it is efficient to use for package and food deliveries. However, in a third world country just like us, I still don't see fiat fully transitioning to digital in the future, high percentage of people here are still leaving using cash. A lot of aspect needs improvement for us to fully use fiat digitally such as slow internet, phones, a lot of rural areas here doesn't have a signal. We have a lot of problem right now and I don't see my country prioritizing this.

Same reason why crypto cannot replace banks as well in the future.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Importance of Bitcoin during the Pandemic on: August 14, 2020, 11:16:17 AM
I somehow agree with all the things you've said but unfortunately, it won't work for all. Fiat currency can also offer digital and cashless payments. That's what I used now insted of btc cause who would accpet btc right? Kind of sucks but what can we do?

I don't know what sideline in btc you are talking about but I hope those who are getting in this industry during this time would not lose all their money left in Trading or other scams. Those who lost their jobs can't really just jump into trading cause you know why, risky unless they are knowledgeable first. Some can't afford the risk being involved here specially this time.

I would only let a friend get into btc if he already understand all the things here. And of course he should be here not because of the quick buck.
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scam victims on: August 14, 2020, 11:07:25 AM
Sorry to hear that but you might as well move on already. You can try asking for help through agencies such as local police etc. Hassle and will take a lot of your time casue you'll be going through different offices. Try accepting that it won't change. You are now included to the long list of scammed people. I just wished you already learn from this. But yup, that's a big money you just lost there.

Might as well focus on doing something to earn it back.
225  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: August 09, 2020, 11:46:27 AM
The increasing spread of the coronavirus across countries has prompted many governments to introduce unprecedented measures to contain the epidemic. These measures have led to many businesses being shut down temporarily, widespread restrictions on travel and mobility, financial market turmoil, an erosion of confidence and heighted uncertainty. We will undertsand this effects after.
It is the current unprecedented measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus that seem to me the strangest now, because they clearly and openly cause colossal harm to the economies of all states, and the danger of this coronavirus is too exaggerated and the fear of this virus is deliberately raised. Something strange and grand is happening that has never happened before. Now it is difficult to say who is behind this, but the world is being pushed towards mass poverty and poverty. The winner is somewhere too high, it is not even a separate industry. The real reason for the current events will become visible much later.

I also think the same, this pandemic has been exaggerated too much, so that it makes many people worry and panic, is done on purpose and published continuously every day,

If we want to look at the comparison between the dead and the cured, there are far more people who are cured, which means that actually a pandemic is not as terrible as many people imagine, it's just that information that shouldn't circulate has a bad impact. create panic en masse and there is a situation like now.
Well, the reason why the people is afraid and COVID-19 is too exaggerated is because they knew that the health care system of their country can't handle such things. Some of the countries are lucky that they have good health care system and have good government that can manage things. What about those country who sufferrs a lot on this. Yes, death and recovery counts have a huge gap but it doesn't mean that it's safe and ahouldn't be taken seriously. People are new to this pandemic, of course they will react too much because we are alrwady having a pandemic and some of the governmemt doesn't have a decent plan to handle this.

Of course we shouldn't panic but  we have to take the pandemic seriously. Maybe in your country recoveries are much higher, and deaths are minimized, but to my country, deaths are getting higher, some deaths are not even counted cause they haven't get tested. No need to panic but what can someone do if they don't have the capacity to save themselves? Hospitals here are asking for a break cause they don't have thespace for the positive cases, and it keeps coming, frontliners are dying here too. Those are still lives, they are not just mere numbers and statistics.

You can't really say "the pandemic is not as terrible etc. etc." if you are not in the battlefield.
226  Economy / Economics / Re: The Covid19 Curve is Flattening on: August 09, 2020, 11:38:34 AM
The downfall of COVID-19 is already started, It is not going to hit again with that much strength as we have seen already. I have heard that people also donating blood? I think that is good we have more recoveries then the infected people will fall.

For vaccine I do not think it is going to happen, It will stay and will only vanish when everyone gets infected and get recovered maybe. It is getting down already though.

TEX-LXRY

Not necessarily. You can get a vaccine out early next year with mass production within the first few months of 2021. Whether or not the entire population gets infected by coronavirus is another discussion. Sweden already has herd immunity and their economy didn't take a large hit. The U.S. can't decide between social distancing/lock down and herd immunity so they're stuck in the middle.

Almost 150 teams from different country are developing a vaccine now, there is hope, and doctors said that we should be excited. Some test are in Phase 3 now. Means they are testing the vaccine to people now, thousands of people try it already. They are testing if it can protect different people for a long time. I think one of these vaccines could succeed. We should be hopeful however, we should still prioritize taking precaution to avoid the virus now.

227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What makes a good bettor? on: August 09, 2020, 08:41:47 AM
I've been thinking about betting and what allows a person to be good at it. There's reason to believe that betting on, say, sports, is skill-based, as at least there are some people famous for being good at it. But if a person is betting on horse races, does the person need to know a lot about horses and horse races or can one be a successful bettor based on other things (for instance, choosing a certain strategy based on the odds or simply reading what others say about an upcoming race)? Is it about knowing how to bet or what you're betting on, what do you think? And do you think betting something a person can become good at or is it that there's a low probability of there being people who bet successfully on a regular basis and these people just exist?

Since you are asking about horse races, there are a lot of factors to consider too just like any other sports. Maybe we are just that knowledgeable about it but there are factors such as, the number of race the horse already had, the trainer, speed, pace. track. form and etc. A horse bettor watches replays too so they could know how powerful the horse is. They are combining a lot of factor too before betting on a horse. But I've read some highly thought of the trainer.

Betting in general should need discipline to learn about the game. Whether in esports or in local casinos. Others are skill-based and some are just pure luck.
228  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What to do if you get scammed! on: August 07, 2020, 01:41:41 PM
There is a Jamiroquai song to play if you get scammed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFUYxXgSmr4

Bitcoin is not paypal... transactions are not reversible, once the transaction is confirmed your coins are gone.

Same with other altcoins.

So, if you get scammed, play that song, is the best thing to do. As i always say, bitcoin leassons arent chep at all.

Some of the newbies who get scammed will see btc as a scam in general even though its their own fault, they didn't search or read about it first, they jump right away just because someone told them they will learn a lot of money. They won't even see the lessons, they are just furious.

The first thing they do after being scammed is to share to the world that btc is scam etc. etc. LOL. Funny that a lof of people believe it even without the knowledge of what this currency can really offer.
229  Economy / Economics / Re: Rise in US unemployment. Thoughts? on: August 07, 2020, 01:32:46 PM
I also think some poor decision making is also responsible for the fall of economy though.

Truth, slow and poor decision making of the government made it worse. Its not even a talk about how rich is a country is. Have you seen third world countries surviving? It exists, better handling, fast decision making, better contract tracing, and a government who really cares for its people will survive. Kind of sad its not happening in my country as well, its getting worse. We are so slow in fighting the virus, now we face a recession, without flattening the curve as well.

Now look for news about how the president of the US fights the virus. Somehow you'll understand why.

231  Economy / Economics / Re: MENTAL HEALTH ANG WELLBEING on: August 07, 2020, 01:10:54 PM
Totally agree with this, each of us had to cope up with the restrictions that were imposed during the lockdown. Some people who are not used to staying at home and outgoing will have to make adjustments. The current situation had brought a lot of stress, pressure, and anxiety, people are losing their jobs and other means to earn, groceries, and other establishments were closed down and there are limited supplies that you can get during the lockdown.

In our country, there were numbers of suicide cases that were reported which was due to depression because of the pandemic. It's a must to keep your mental health and well being on check.

This is what I believe too, do what makes your heart happy during this time. Do all the things that will make you cope up. You have to protect your mental health too aside from protecting yourself from the virus. Staying at home for some is a challenge specially when you didn't have a healthy home, and your way of coping up is going outside. It will be a hard battle. News about the virus is depressing too, we are facing unemployment, recession, and etc. Try staying away from the news if all of this makes your mental health worse.

I hope all those people suffering will ask help, even from a friend or their via national hotline.
232  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible to live without banks? on: August 07, 2020, 01:00:28 PM
It's nearly impossible for one to live without the bank, but I believe one can do without it, for example in the rural areas/villages 99% of them don't even own a bank account, nor are there any bank building around them, but they go on with their daily lives buying /exchange goods and services, also even in the third tier countries where the employers don't pay thier employees through the bank rather they hand cash to the employees at the end of the month.

Even when using cash, paper money, we actually use the services of banks, because banknotes are issued by central banks. Therefore, everyone uses the services of banks. Banks are an integral part of the state, so they will exist as long as the state exists.
If you set a goal, you can do without banks. But why do we need additional complexity.

Yup, i think it will not be replaced in the future. We need it. Even those people who live in rural areas need banks too, some of them get loans with the banks. They are part of the state too and whenever theirs a program from the state, specially about money, banks will always be involved. It may be true that they didn't use bank as storage for money, but its because of the reason that all the money they had is for the present only, they earn and live day to day.

If the question is crypto replacing banks in the future, nope, they will co-exist.
233  Economy / Economics / Re: What profit has brought you to bitcoin? on: August 07, 2020, 12:48:22 PM
Btc was introduced to me by a friend. I didn't really jump right away, just heard and read about it from time to time before I decided to be involved in it. It was true that a lot of people believe that btc is a haven for fraud, a place where a lot of people get scammed, but I didn't really believe that. I decided to gain knowledge about it, and I have realized those accusations are just the tip of the iceberg, kind of unfair that a lot of people see btc like that. Its just a small percentage of what this technology can offer. And any currency has it. It was their lost not knowing the perks of using btc and crypto in general.

Now, I earn a few bucks here and there, but what I really learn here is that this is a great alternative for what we already have right now. I can't really say that it will replace what we have now, however, I realized that this technology will be a great part of the future, I don't regret spending a lot of time here.
234  Economy / Economics / Re: Pray for Our World (Pray for Lebanon) Another Economic Crisis on: August 07, 2020, 12:38:57 PM
I tend to agree with you there, though as I stated in another thread I'm not sure how dense the population was in that area at the time of the explosion.  Four thousand wounded sounds about right, but less than 100 dead?  I find that a little hard to believe.

This is what I've been thinking too! The first time I saw a video I didn't even believe it. Thought it was an old vid but I decided to search for it then I saw overflowing news from 20 minutes ago and its true. I just thought damn, thousands will be dead, a whole building just exploded and videos even from afar took a lot of damage.

I am just so sad thousands of people lose their home during this pandemic, even us aren't evev safe from the virus, but thinking how would those people people feel during this time just breaks my heart.

235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Beirut explosion - Lesson to learn from this. on: August 07, 2020, 05:43:10 AM
Despite the care you have, if you're dead it doesn't matter.

I know that we also wanted to take care of our Bitcoins; to protect it from the hackers and prove that it is ours with private keys on our side. But the problem here is that this huge explosion is an accident, or the carelessness of the people with that tons of amonia stored there.

We can protect our Bitcoins and other altcoins from hackers, from scammers, but we can't always protect ourselves from what will happen.

Agree, I don't really agree with the OP saying we have to store our paper wallets and cold wallets from different locations. Isn't it dangerous too? Especially if you don't regularly visit the places you keep it. And I also agree that this is an accident. We are all surprise by it. But well if this strat works for him, then its good. However, it is still not safe from other circumstances too.

I think there's really no safe strat for us, all we need to do is do everything we can to safely store it, whether to our most trusted people, or to our most secured accounts in the internet. Find the best strat that will work for you.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Is Best Course Of Action? on: August 07, 2020, 05:29:14 AM
Seriously?

When it comes to money, you should make your own mistakes.

Asking that question tells me you don't have the right mindset.

Nobody knows what the best course of action is. You'd better educated yourself and make a decision.

Have you read he is asking for an advice? Nothing really wrong with that. It is his way to be educated tho, asking for suggestions from others. For sure he won't follow all of the advice but still it will gave him an idea.

Well, here's mine, if you are planning for a long term, I mean years, you can buy anytime you want as long as you have faith in btc. But if you are trading casually, and not really know much about reading candles. You can still buy right now, or wait for it to dip before buying. It will be your call and plan. Try watching youtube videos about technical analysis about it. Try acquiring knowledge, and I hope you'll make your own decision.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we need bitcoin? on: August 02, 2020, 02:23:32 PM
If the government acknowledged the use of it, people will be aware of its capabilities and it will be easy to differentiate a scam platform that uses crypto. This is one of the reasons why some people don't trust bitcoin because of those ponzi who uses it on their platform and just scamming people. They should know about it and how does the market of crypto works, I believe it's important to avoid wrong perspective on it.

The use of cryptocurrency is creating as a lot of opportunity and that can be used to develop our country. They should think about the positive side of it, and they should admit that it can help the economy growth.

This is really one of the main problems we are facing, the image of bitcoin as something being used only for scams and ponzi's, it is also because of other people seeing bitcoin as a scam just because they failed in trading, or they've been scammed a few times. It is their own fault anyways, they failed to gather knowledge first before jumping into anything, they taught they will be rich just because someone told them they will be. Now that they've been scammed, their word of mouth made other people believe this lie too. Even those who aren't even know what btc and blockchain mean.

Seminars and workshops about bitcoin and blockchain can help. We have to spread the knowledge about this technology. We have to let people know that the scam and ponzi's here are just a small percentage compared to the things this technology can offer.
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Mobile Gaming on: August 01, 2020, 07:14:55 PM
As mobile gaming become start to become popular in the world of gaming.
I have this thought on my mind;

Can we relate Bitcoin with Mobile Gaming?

Just like Bitcoin; banks can be a traditional and Bitcoin becomes much easier and comfortable to use.

In mobile gaming; PC Desktop games/console games, etc can be traditional while games on mobile are the new trend where you can play comfortably anywhere with just your mobile phone.

Does it ring a bell?
It's kinda the use of Bitcoin is much comfortable since we just need a Bitcoin wallet and internet connection to make the transaction.
And in gaming: we just need a mobile phone where it is easy to access anytime and anywhere and play since you just need your mobile phone, no need to bring your console/PC desktop every time just to play.

I'm actually a gamer and crypto enthusiasts too but these comparism is rather too far from each other. Truly, bitcoin provide ease of access and break the chain of intermediaries involved when using traditional money and at thesame time, mobile phones generally offers ease of use flexibility to users but it doesn't really offer comfort to all games

Agree, and I should add that as of now, btc isn't really that comfortable against the bank. Online banking is still much comfortable as of now especially during this pandemic. We can used it almost everywhere now, compared to btc, which we can't even used in online shopping cause it is still not yet used by the stores.

So yup, mobile phone is really easy to use compared to pc or desktop, we can even forget about the pc and just use mobile phones. However, in my opinion, we can't still leave the bank just because of btc. I still need my online bank cause it is much more efficient to use.
239  Economy / Economics / Re: returning to normal on: August 01, 2020, 06:42:05 PM
Finally, my country is in the tune of a normal situation but in fact, people are still fearful of those people who return to their place of birth even there is a law that is implemented by the government that all arrival has needed to follow the 14 days quarantine for safety.through this protocol as far as I know all trading industries are instantly goes on and on.

This is not working with my country as well, those people going back to their birthplace tests negative, but once they boarded the plane or bus, they are now contained with the virus. Those are the cases that are really hard to detect. Now my country are filled with cases, almost all of the province and city, and its because of those cases.

One reason too is the waiting area, it is not well planned, no social distancing, passengers are crowded, and late flight and tranpo. It is supposed to be free but I hope it is well planned. That really messed up my country. Now the virus is everywhere instead of it being contained.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What difficulty do you face on trading bitcoin? on: August 01, 2020, 06:32:41 PM
I'm a citizen of a country where bitcoin is illegal and there's no good way of trading bitcoin in legal way and secured way. I have been trading through the community I have built within these years but sometimes I got difficulty selling bitcoin, not much although. If you are from a country where BTC is legit, I think you are enjoying trading bitcoin. But what about the countries where BTC is illegal? Do you have any such way to trade bitcoin securely? I would love to hear the experiences, difficulty you faced/faces.

My country doesn't even care about btc, there are no on going talks about it in the government as well. We can sell, buy, or use it if we want as long as we are not getting involved to other business that are prohibited by the law. My only problem is the high fees when I am getting my btc from a local wallet. Add the fact that I am really not good in trading as well.

If btc is illegal in your country, try using p2p. I think you should start knowing people in the industry too. Where are you from by the way? Maybe there are users here who also live there that can help you.
