121  Economy / Economics / Re: FOLLOW THIS RULES TO BECOME RICH on: October 02, 2020, 05:40:07 PM
I'm pretty sure that all the actual rich people aren't thinking about any rules how to become rich, they just earn way more than they spend and that's it. How do they earn so much? They could be a successful businessmen, they could have inherited wealth, or married into wealth, and some people just have a good career, work hard, invest their money and become rich.

Well, life in a box. Some just born with the money already inside their pockets, and some are born to work hard to get rich, and some are born to work hard and still can't get rich. You say don't gamble but some get rich in gambling too, even though most got poor. Your post are just guides on how to get rich, it doesn't really mean that it will work the same with everyone cause of course life isn't fair for everyone. Privilege and opportunities can get in the way for some.
122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Read the rules and don't post plagiarised content. on: October 02, 2020, 05:27:34 PM
To add to what others have said, the rules require you to add a link for it not to be plagiarism, but sometimes adding just a link after copying the original post or article verbatim is somewhat plagiarism (even if you'll likely not be banned), and could get your account nuked or banned temporarily, if a user keeps up with that style of posting.

It's a pretty easy way for lazy users to make posts and Increase their activity, especially in the press board and other sections of the forum, but if you are sharing someone's article, you should put it in a way other users can discuss on the subject, and you should likewise share your opinion for other users to discuss, as only a link is most times hardly enough.

Agree, well one way is you should make us readers realize why you create the post anyway and why do you provide the link. You should not restate what have been written down on the link but you should elaborate or provide a new angle to the link. New idea, contradict, new opinion and etc. for you to own the post. Cause write ups are really easy easy to copy, but ideas and opinions about a certain write up is very hard to create unless you are knowledgeable about it.
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you store your seed? on: October 02, 2020, 04:09:11 PM
I am somehow forgetful of my password so when it comes to my wallet pass, I wrote it down in a paper that looks like a scratch paper then just snip it to a book (as a bookmark) that is always beside my computer. No one really goes into my room and I'm the only who knows where that password is. And I just think that when you put your password in a place that isn't really safe, it would not look like a password at all. Kind of risky but it helps me remember it everytime.

Maybe I'm kind of lazy too to create more safety in my wallet but I think I will be more careful if I already stacked a lot of btc in my wallet in the future.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When we think that crypto is being used by criminals to move tons of money on: October 02, 2020, 03:58:03 PM
It's because if a criminal used fiat banks to move the money, they will not be focused on the currency because it's kind of normal that there are scams and illegal activities in fiat. However, if a criminal used btc to move their money, then the focus will be on btc cause they knew they can't track the money. So the first thing they will think is that maybe bitcoin is a scam and for illegal activities only, it's kind of frustrating on the part of bitcoin cause they focus on the currency and the blame the currency. But they won't do the same in fiat currency.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good Morning from a Non-Bitcoiner on: October 02, 2020, 03:44:40 PM
Perhaps your friend has already been informed or even interested about Bitcoin and crypto. The greeting is basically promoting Bitcoin and crypto.

However, the line "invest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies" is just like the tiny tip of something enormous. It entails knowledge; it entails careful research not just of Bitcoin itself but also of how to securely access and keep it.

There must be serious disclaimers following this encouragement or, better yet, precautionary warnings. This is the overused line of scammers soliciting investments from gullible individuals in the name of Bitcoin and crypto.

Same thought actually, this kind of things usually comes from scammers. They used this short quotes that can fool those who are willing to earn a lot of money. I hope if we are sending this short quotes to our friend, let's try to elaborate more. Cause this can overhype people thinking that there are no risk in this currency. They don't have to get in right away, or invest right away. I think they should understand the currency better then decide if they are willing to invest. Cause if they lose their money, the image of bitcoin is the one who will suffer, cause they will now see it as a scam in general, making it harder for bitcoin to be seen as a decent currency.
126  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Blockchain Specialization - DOST giving scholars in Coursera on: October 02, 2020, 03:35:33 PM
Nakakuha din ako ng scholarship dito! sobrang gandang oppotunity para sa lahat kasi malaking tulong na libre siya ngayong pandemic lalo dun sa mga gustong matuto sa ibang industry or mag change career. More on writing ang akin kasi tinatanong yung work and yung degree if graduate. Pero interested din ako sa web development at blockchain.

Parang hanggang december lang ata tong scholarship so take as many as you can during your free time.
127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miami Dade to open Casinos and Restaurants for the third time. on: September 27, 2020, 02:47:57 PM
^ No hate, but opening physical gambling to the public is something that I can't even tolerate on my mind. Look at the situation that we have right now. Losers from the Casino might not be able to accept what will possibly happen. It is also hard for the customer to be there because COVID19 is still active.
I know that they are just trying to survive their businesses. But it really is hard for that. Nevertheless, the adoption of the new normal will change a lot that people can go outside and go to casinos with proper protective gear.

I think such decision depends from country to country according to epidemic situation and there is no universal receipe. I don't know what is current situation in Miami but despite concern for health life must go on.
In my country everything is opened, including casinos, with obligation to obey epidemic recommendations and rules. I don't know if there is any country in the world whose economy could survive another lock down.

They don't really have a choice, governments and the economy itself needed it. What we can really do is try to be safe and always follow the protocols. It can also provide jobs for others during these time. Well those people going out had the choice to go out. I try to understand it but what I will never tolerate are those people who doesn't follow the protocols, cause they are not only the ones affected with their irresponsible acts.

Yup, it varies from country to country and in my country, we have the longest lockdown so we really need to get right back up.
128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto gambling sites should be careful of bringing eSports in on: September 27, 2020, 02:35:44 PM
The only issue I can see with this is the possible effect of esports for minors to gamble. Most of the systems and gambling sites at this time have good regulation already to avoid this kind of scenario to happen. In addition, minors have their parents to remind and supervise them to avoid gambling.

Though, minors IMO even without gambling sites could already be expose to gambling through the game itself. Most of the games uses credits for skins and usually, good skins comes from the raffle. Thus, exposing them to implicit gambling already.

Yes, that is the possible issue but on the other hand I don't see why would e sports be a bigger threat to minors than the other types of gambling. Yes, it's hard to control them and today everything is available on much easier way to minors and children than it was to previous generations. That is why prevention is very important and how these children are raised. When something bad happened is very often too late to react.

Because kids right now have easy access on these things. They can play without the knowledge of their parents. But they will learn their lessons in their own way, if parents are not there to guide them. Since parents can't attend their kids 24/7, the kids themselves should be responsible on their actions.

Of course parents would not be ther 24/7. But it's helpful for the kid to know about how it from the supervision of the parent. Cause you know some kids can do well without someone supervising them but some kids need the supervision of their parents, even though its just a one time talk, it will help the kid be knowledgeable about it. To know what's right from wrong. Kids are kids and they need supervision.

KYC could help to minimize youngsters to go gambling but the fact that not all gambling sites require such a thing, below 18 years old could gamble. They have their phone, laptop/PC, online gambling is very accessible to anyone and sites can't hold them nor to stop youngsters to gamble unless KYC is required. But that is not the case, it probably gambling site owners will allow them, they are making money from it.

This may hit back on them because many gamblers would move out if KYC get compulsory to sites where no KYC is required. So, no one want to lose their business and also today's kids are very smart they would take somebody else KYC and still play it and no one will know as well. So, this is not the perfect solution. Somebody from their family would have to keep a watch.

This KYC will never be a solution, years ago I'm just a kid, and I remember fully well when I easily entered sites with KYC with it. It's too easy. And you are right, owners doesn't really want to put KYC, they were just following the rules from the authority to continue their operation. As long as they're earning from the customers, or gaining customers, they don't care what the outcome is to other people.
129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 27, 2020, 02:21:21 PM
Congratulations to the Lakers!! Finals are real.

I've never thought that it's been 10 years since their last finals appearance.
This is my question to myself after watching the game. Thanks for the answer. 10 years was such a long time. I'm glad Lakers are really back to the finals.

Now it's time for them to prepare for the big game against the winner between Celtics and Miami. Anyway, congratulations to the team (Lakers) and their fans. Smiley

That wouldn't be possible without Lebron James, he knows how to do the job as every team he is playing will go to the Finals.

Miami vs Lakers, that sounds good to see, or you guys like Boston instead?
Lebron shows why is he is the King, he took over the fourth quarter and bring the Lakers to the finals again after a decade. Would like a classic Boston vs Lakers, but I'm sure fans are not going to regret a Miami vs Lakers as well. I watched their game Dec 2019 and it was really a tight battle, Davis 3 was the difference back then but Miami could have won that game as well. But regardless though, I think Lebron will bring the Lakers the NBA championship this season.

I'm sure lebron will. I don't even understand the hate but what I'm sure of is he is really one of the greats. I'm with boston and lakers match up too. With Rondo now playing with the lakers. But it's the same with Miami and Lakers, with Lebron now playing with the Lakers. But what I'm most excited about is the lakers getting the championship, it's not for the team only, but for Kobe, too sad to think that Kobe will not get to witness another championship to his team.
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the future holds for bitcoin on: September 27, 2020, 02:12:47 PM
BTC is gradually gaining its grounds in the financial institute. Most people prefer using bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Before the advent of bitcoin local and foreign currencies were the only means of financial transactions. Currently BTC has gone beyond bothers and has also made transactions safer and faster without much stress of converting from one currency to another. From my own opinion its a better way of accumulating wealth and secure a perfect future of cashless policy

I don't really think most people today prefers using bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Some doesn't even know what bitcoin is honestly. And we have the problem with bitcoin having this image of scam and illegal activities. From what I've experience, fiat is still the efficient one to use. Less hassle with the online banking using credit and debit card, accessible to all the stores out there. Bitcoin has problem with that, I don't even want to talk about the volatility of bitcoin. I am hoping for bitcoin to reach that certain popularity, but I don't want to believe that it is already happening even though it's not. We have to face that bitcoin has a long way to go.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Experiment: A documentary about how real world is on a death spiral on: September 27, 2020, 02:01:04 PM
Everyone is free to say whatever they want to say, as for me, I am already tired of all these people that are making it seem like Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is the end to our problem.

Due to things like these , when some people meet me to know about Bitcoin, they always think that it is means for them to become millionaires, and some of them even ask me why I am not a millionaire yet, and that’s because of what they have read online, they are made to believe that Bitcoin is the solution to every problem in the world. That you’re making use of Bitcoin doesn’t automatically make you rich or better than other people, you can still go very broke.

Same, Bitcoin has a long way to go, and as of now, it is still an alternative to fiat and not as something that will be a solution to all the problem in this world. We may believe that bitcoin will be big in the future but as of now, I'm sure we can't deny that we can't live without fiat yet. And you're right, I'm on bitcoin but I'm not a millionaire yet. It's not a platform to be rich, it's a currency.

I haven't watch the documentary, but from what I've read from OP, it sounds like the documentary is only one sided favoring bitcoin. It sounded like the filmmakers are really on the side of bitcoin in creating the documentary cause they've been describing bitcoin as something heavenly.
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for Christmas on: September 27, 2020, 01:49:31 PM
I will not deny that it is really a good idea! But I would prefer to give it to a relative who has the knowledge of what can he really do with it. I have someone in mind but I hope they would spend the time to learn about how can they really use it. However, Christmas is the time for children, and children would never allot time just to get their present in an e-wallet. They would prefer gifts such as toys, clothes, and of course fiat cash. So if I would try to use this idea, I would prefer cousins and etc. But it can be use with birthdays too! Can work with friends whom I occasionally talk about btc but never really tried to use the currency, at least I gave them the chance.
133  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: September 26, 2020, 08:41:56 AM
In Philippines there is nothing change with the price of the foods still at the same because they know what are the situation right now of the people, they don't have enough capability to buy different foods if they increase the amount of price of their product, also in our country they are not prepared yet and not fully recover form this covid 19 but some of the business are still on going but some of them are already filed bankruptcy. The most problem of the people right now where is to find a source of income to fulfill the needs of their family. I think soon they will increase the price of the food just to make recovery to our economy.

It may look the same but it is scarced.

Scarcity will lead to increasing of prices especially to those people with increasing cases. My family in the province are having a hard time to buy rice, some people can't afford rice with high price but they don't have a choice because NFA is scarce since it is used for the help the government but still not being given and I am still wondering when are they planning to distribute them.

Some got back to normal price but in my local markets, meat's price is still not going down, I've know cause I always crave meat lol. It's understandable cause everything is connected, because of the pandemic, supplier is charging high maybe to get back what they lost during the months of lockdown. The cost of transporting from the province changed too. Scarcity is a cause too, that's maybe some products are higher and some are already stable in price.
134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: September 26, 2020, 08:20:54 AM
The camp of Manny Pacquiao is actually open for the fight to happen, and even stated that they would be donating the fight proceeds into charities that cater to COVID-19 victims. This is just an obvious money-grab for McGregor, and we know how bad he fought against Mayweather on August of 2017. While this is exciting and all for the Irishman to set the records straight again that he's an undisputed fighter, we just know that Pacquiao is several leagues above him when it comes to boxing. Either way, I want to see this happen, and might even put some bets on other lines except for who's going the winner because there's no value in there honestly.

The office of Manny Pacquiao already confirms it today, they said the fight will happen next year. The portion of money will really help a lot of people during these times. I've read there's another reason too for Manny to fight again, elections is coming and they said this fight will boost his name once again to run for higher office. Well, If this match up came true, then Pacquiao will be the winner for me even though his already at the age of retirement. This is boxing and this is the stage of Manny.
135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VR online casino games take gambling to the new level 🚀 on: September 26, 2020, 08:08:17 AM
Continuous development makes people more entertained and really satisfied with their wants. VR games come to the daring innovative game creation where most players wanted to experience but the cost is also high than those olds ones. And a reason that never pushes them to adopt the system. The average gamblers will surely never take this opportunity rather than to keep the genuine one.

Perhaps, the gamblers will try those games if the price to buy the equipment is not too expensive. They will not spend money to buy something that they don't understand how to play, and they will stay with the old games while they are waiting for development. Let those games develop to have a better, while many people can have a better internet connection. If that happens, the games will take attention from the people, and they will use that technology to have a new experience.

While the game still needs to research, the gambler can enjoy the games that they usually played without thinking about the new game that is still developed.

Same, the price should be worth it to the experience they will have in the VR. I think games and VR technology will still develop where they can provide real life experience inside a technology, VR nowadays doesn't provide the best experience. It's kind of irritating playing with the headset on for the long time. It can still be develop like in the movies, example is ready player one. Games that can be played in the VR should be develop too, games that are easy to play with is not worth it to play with VR. I think VR in the future would be pricey but it can provide quality real life experience better.
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 26, 2020, 07:53:01 AM
Miami Heat will be the champion this year I guess, they're very prepared had much better team chemistry, hardwork pays.
Hope so but they got to head-to-head first to LeBron (or Jokic if they gonna pull the strings again for the 3rd time - the 3-1 deficit champs) and friends and I think that may not be gonna easy for them this time. I think so too that Heat will be the ECF champions.

I don't think they would be able to get away with the 3-1 deficit with lebron and anthony davis as their contender. Well it would be a history and entertaining if they would do it. But I still think it will be lakers and heat, although I wish a celtics-lakers once again in the championship. But atleast we are getting pumped up again with the nba finals.
137  Economy / Economics / Re: Cashless Economy: Is Society ready for transformation? on: September 25, 2020, 04:03:20 PM
A society would need to solve a lot of issues first before even trying to live as a cashless society. Digital payments would need technologies, and we all know a large chunk of people doesn't even own a phone, or doesn't even know how to use a one. It will tackle issues of internet, urbanizations, technological advancements, poverty, and etc. A lot would still choose holding a cash than something they could not even use in the local stores on a street. So if my country is targeting to be a cashless society in the future, they need to be able to provide things and technologies to the poorest of the poor, provide quality internet, provide educational tours to the rural, provide electricity to the farthest place who couldn't even reach a signal for a single text message.

So yup, in case of my country, we are not yet ready if these problems will not be solve, if they would push it, its great but make it slower. Adapt and let others have the ability to grasp to the changes. Give solutions to the problems they should prioritize first. They should not make fiat be forgotten cause some people can't afford to leave with cashless yet.
138  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: September 25, 2020, 03:51:19 PM
Not all criminals are fully aware and knowledgeable about crypto so that's probably one of the reasons, unlike with fiat that it does not require technical knowledge. Criminals won't use things they are not good at because it will put them at a bigger risk of getting caught. And maybe also because there's still not enough crypto adoption and the majority are still relying on fiat, criminals can find more victims than in crypto space. But I think it varies with the intellectual and skill capacity of the criminals because if they know how the crypto space runs, then they will take advantage of it.

I think those criminals who used bitcoin are those criminals who targets big amount of money that is very hard to hide in a bank, my bank always ask me where do I get the money whenever I'm depositing, if one would try to deposit a huge amount then it will really be a big problem, specially if they don't have enough background to prove they really own it. It also depends to the criminals, maybe those criminals are not into technology scamming, some criminals are using bitcoin too to make it untraceable for the owner to retrieve his money once he transfer it to the criminals btc account. Some criminals are targeting fiat money first then they will be the one converting it to btc or maybe they would try to deposit it into different banks as a fiat.

I think fiat is widely used still cause they can't really purchase a lot of things using btc, unless they would purchase illegal things too. Everyday necessities can be bought by fiat without hassle, and we are too far away in living using btc only. That's why maybe.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin a sure legacy on: September 25, 2020, 03:36:29 PM
As generations transcends people keep inheritable valuables for their descendants, something the can always hold onto, something they can use to start up life even when the economy is unstable. Bitcoin in our present era is currently on of those valuables one can keep as a legacy considering the constant increase in bitcoin as the day goes by. It is highly advisable to purchase bitcoin because of its increasing value and the benefits attached to owning one in our present society. Bitcoin has come to reduce bulky currencies and made transactions even more easier when compared 2 circular currencies. With the advent of bitcoin transactions across the continents has been made even more easier reducing the stress of currency exchange

In my opinion, I don't think I would leave all my investments here in bitcoin. Well maybe it feels much safer for me to invest in fiat as of now. It's just that I have a lot of friends who can help me in investing in fiat and etc. But I sure would leave a bunch of coins here for the future of my love ones. It will feel safer to have a lot of choices so I would have a lot of choices.

There are a lot of other choices as well that will be a legacy in the future, but I agree bitcoin can be an investment in the years to come.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Education on: September 25, 2020, 03:24:03 PM
Bitcoin in schools isn't a bad idea. IT teachers could try to inform the students about the decentralised technology. I bet that there will be few pupils that will be very interested. Although, this can only happen to countries that would allow it. For example, countries where bitcoin is illegal get off the list.

If such things could be taught in schools, like "value your privacy", or "wake up your money is getting inflated!" would help the next generation a lot in their way of thinking. The problem is that most schools are ruled by government and I don't think that government would allow teachers teach about going against the government. Isn't it funny?  Cheesy

That is why it will only work if they would center blockchain technology, cause this technology is already doing something great in other industries. It is now being used even in universities, I've read about the distribution of diploma and something like that. College students, specially those who are into the field of IT will be hired by a company if they know something about blockchain, I think in the future, blockchain will be use in any industry.

I just felt like we've been pushing students to be involve in bitcoin if we are trying to teach them about it. Bitcoin will always be a part of learning blockchain technology so it will be touched, so if a student get interested in bitcoin, then its time for him to understand and get into it by himself.
