hey guys
anyone heard if/when new stock will be available for ordering ?
Thanks
23 of aug You sure? "OUT of STOCK. Shipping Starts August 23" --> Probably this only means that they will ship all miners away to there buyers? BTW: So its possible to connect the first miner with the rasp and the first miner with second miner and second with third. This will work, right?

Yes, search some youtube videos for Avalon miners. it will help you comprehend how it all works. In short, the controller has (4) usb ports. Each usb port can handle up to (5) Avalon miners.

Yes, search some youtube videos for Avalon miners. it will help you comprehend how it all works. In short, the controller has (4) usb ports. Each usb port can handle up to (5) Avalon miners. I believe new orders will be accepted on the 23rd. As for how many miners will work on the rasp pi 3 I find 3 a port in a chain is good. and only 1 port which is 3 per rasp pi. that is less then 5 a port. x 4 ports = 20 the 3 to 20 seems a lot and if you have 200 avalon 741s it is a lot. but if you are a smaller farmer under 20 it is far easier to know what is working and what is not working. the gui combines the miners so a raps pi with 20 miners shows as 1 to the pool and if you have an issue you can have trouble figuring out what is or is not mining. So weighing if you want 3 or 6 or 9 or 12 per rasp pi 3 can make a difference in down time. I found chains over 3 rigs a port seem to hash a little lower. Also the software balances the units so 8 741's and 2 are slow all on 1 rasp pi will hash lower then 2 slow on 1 rasp pi and 6 fast on the other.

Good to know about the rasp pi load balancing the hash rates on the 741's. Definitely something everyone should be aware of when mining with Avalon's. I have two on order and hope they hash at a similar hash rate. If not, I'll put the spare rasp pi to work.

Steve,
As the previous post mentioned, I too thank you for your contribution to the forum!
No problem. I wanted to set up a separate forum for guys with technical questions, a place to share your tips, organize group buys, AMA, etc. But for now I will use this. It's a bit overwhelming between this, tickets, emails, product planning. If I do set something up I'll have to get some rewards/prizes going. I need to steal a few machines for marketing/giveaways. as always if something crops up and I'm missing something said hear, just drop me an email. I usually get to them within 48 hours Sound like a decent plan. Got the payment info today and paid, also got the info about the replacement fan being put back on a different ticket. Faboo! Biggest suggestion I have about general support and such would be to make the Support/FAQ part of the Canaan site better. As it is it is rather difficult to find answers to common questions such as "What kind of PSU do I need?" or even 'How do I use my miner?" Since I've been mining since 2014 no problem for me but I do pity the folks just starting for the 1st time. That sort of thing is asked a lot here despite much of the info being on the Welcome and Setup card shipped with the miners. Yes more detailed info even including the setup video *is* all on the site but finding it is far from obvious and easy. Been a while since I tried it but as I recall Support starts with a list of category menus ones digs through vs a short basic list of say the 10 most-common questions.

Stock has arrived in HK and loaded into the system. We will start to plow through the back orders.

That was my number one complaint when I took over global sales and marketing. The biggest issue is being short staffed. Bi Lingual staff is very hard to find and I'm lucky enough to have 3 people who are bi lingual. Believe me a better getting started system is high on my list. I will probably redo the website myself.

BTW: So its possible to connect the first miner with the rasp and the first miner with second miner and second with third. This will work, right? when BTC spiked we got a huge influx of orders and we were overwhelmed. Usually an order comes in, we give an address and then after confirmation we ship. Well, so many orders came in that we could not keep up. We couldnt even keep up with giving people addresses. Every purcase has a unique address. ( I want to smack guys in accounting who demand this) Anyway, A couple of big orders came in and we got out of stock with hundreds on folks waiting for their address. We flew a bunch more to Hong Kong and Lily got a visa and rushed down to make sure we could get the new machines into the system so we could restart quickly. Like I said up stream I will be moving to a distributor model so I can serve the small customers better. Hopefully can get machines into distributors in various countries and help to grow local bitcoin businesses around the world. It will also help ( I hope) with the language issue. I cant count the number of times language gets in the way of some one ordering or struggling with support because of language.

No problem, take the time you need its not easy to handle such a big amount of orders. I think u have many orders to ship away right now, so when we are able to order from you again?

You will do very well if you can pull of a good and reliable distribution model. To be honest, I don't understand why any of the mining companies have not gone that way.

I would be a small customer yet I have spent 200000 on gear since 2012. My orders are small and often. I never order high orders . As for support. I would be willing to hold fans dongles rasp pi 3 and daughter boards. I could send to USA and Canada . The sha256 miners may be in big demand due to the rise in bcc

... You will do very well if you can pull of a good and reliable distribution model. To be honest, I don't understand why any of the mining companies have not gone that way.
My guess the reason is pure economics. Remember that distributors expect to have a decent markup of at least 50% if not 100% from their cost. After all one does have to pay import duty, employees, rent, insurance, etc which is why resellers on Amazon and such charge the prices they do. That markup comes out of *someones* pockets, either the OEM or the end buyer or both. The OEM cannot cut pricing for the distributors too much because other companies (Bitmain) who only sell direct have the price advantage there and would most likely start another price war. As for the end user paying more -- considering they are perpetually whining about prices of miners, well...

If I had a case of fans a 20 pack of dongles a 20 pack of four pin wires a dozen daughter boards some rasp pi 3's it would ease the main office if a guy had them in europe if a guy had them in australia a list for spare parts on the website. this would have to help. I built 2 spare rasp pi's I have an extra dongle

Open up authorized repair centers and have a certification you need to get to maintain the warranty. Seems like the next level of growth, similar to what PC makers used to do. Keep in mind though that managing that network is another full time job, and it seems like they're short on staff as it is.

Keep in mind though that managing that network is another full time job, and it seems like they're short on staff as it is. my idea is less then that idea as my way is about 500 to 800 in parts. less then the cost of one avalon 741 every part other then the daughter board and hash boards are easy to replace. fan = plug play dongle = plug in play 4 pin wire = plug n play rasp pi 3 = a liitle more work the daughter board is more work but is not an expensive piece. so any owner of the gear should just be able to get one quick and easy and simply swap it in. instead of waiting weeks for a new part from china. Basically I would want a parts dealer. like napa is for cars. https://www.napaonline.com

I know how to shutdown the miner but not the controller.
Thanks.
