61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]★ CryptoBnB★ Disrupting Home Rental Platform Powered By Blockchain ★ on: January 30, 2018, 04:16:10 AM

Yes, this project looks quite promising indeed. Short-time rental business has a lot of issues and some of them are related to money. In my country people often get scammed on the pre-payment of the flat or see the inaccurate prices on websites first. If cryptobnb can help with such things then it can indeed become successful. The team is pretty impressive as well, since they have people both from amazon and booking.com. Good luck with the project!
Happened to me in the past as well, and CryptoBNB will solve these issues. I am positive the founder can find a way to get contracts with a few big hotels and restaurants in the future, once the blockchain technology finally becomes mainstream.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is DEAD for small payments, Bitcoin Cash is the FUTURE on: January 30, 2018, 01:27:45 AM
LTC might be a better option?

Low price and no-fee txns?

Faster and gaining traction among online commerce and payments.
Litecoin is indeed sort of a better version of Bitcoin.
By the way talking about Bitcoin Cash, the community is ready to increase the block size to 32 MB last time I checked, don't think it was necessary yet, wonder if this was to manipulate the price, we'll know more about this news soon.

64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / biggest cryptocurrency hack in Japan: CoinCheck will refund most of the money on: January 29, 2018, 12:51:45 PM
Full article

Coins stolen (NEM) were stored in a hot wallet, rather than a cold wallet. 90% will be refund by the exchange. Sounds like a major mistake from CoinCheck here and good thing they have the funds available because I doubt insurance companies would refund in a case like this one (if insurance companies accept to work with such exchanges in the first place).
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: January 29, 2018, 01:38:36 AM
I'm very, very lucky to be able to buy some bitcoin today. I think you're right. If less than 50 million will be made, the value per bitcoin will be ridiculous in the coming months'
It's not that simple. I don't believe anyone will get rich by buying bitcoin today, unless you have a big amount of money available to be spent. You''ll get more lucky with altcoins, some of them saw their price multiplied by 50 in a few months last year.

Past performance of alts does not necessarily make them a better value than bitcoin.  You have to consider both upside and downside potential, and don't get caught up on superficial unit explanations or possible vaporware.

In other words, if you are doing alts, either you better have good luck with your gamble or you better have some ability to figure out which once might be good short term investment risk possibilities.  Sure, in the past year, you could have made decent money with alts by throwing a dart at a bulletin board and picking your alt in that manner, but merely because that was the case last year does not mean that it is going to continue in such direction.. so you will likely need to be watchful, at minimum, with your alt coin choices.
I cannot disagree with you, it is gamble, I can agree with that. And even the guy who bought ripple at price 1X, he is likely to sell it before it reaches 40X anyway. Same logic applies to bitcoin, this topic was started back in 2011, a few held their coins but a big majority sold for a 1000% profit or less (which is nice already but if you had $1000 on it it did not make you rich), but many of them would have became rich in the official definition of the term if they held until December 2017. Now I strongly doubt bitcoin price will overtake, let's say, 100k in the next 5 years. That's "only" 10 times the price it is now.
If you diversify enough in altcoins, you'll need luck but I believe the potential winnings will be greater in the middle term (1 year).

PS: I do hold bitcoin, still fifty percent of my portfolio.
66  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's High Volatility on: January 29, 2018, 01:27:30 AM
As far as I remember back in December, there was big hedge funds entering the market (Wall Street), the way I see it: these big traders had a short position on bitcoin, and made a profit of almost 100% in a month, cannot blame them.
Now, the way I see it: many people sell when the price approach 14k and then buy when the price gets close to 10k, the resistance at 10k is very strong right now because of this logic. I think we'll need to wait for a while before overtaking 14k again, maybe April or May this year.

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news! on: January 29, 2018, 12:43:26 AM
Real names? Not so sure how good this is. The whole idea is anonymity.
And you really believe world wide governments will allow something that is fully anonymous and involving (sometimes) a lot of money?
Regulations will be implemented simply because governments want to benefit from the profits made by taxing them.

Stop dreaming and wake up...
do you really believe the different government (especially in Europe) that love to pillage everything on a daily basis, especially the defenseless, the unemployed, the workers, the savers... these governments will allow crypto-currencies settle without regulations, they will allow currencies that people can exchange without being taxed and without being tracked?
These governments already wish to kill cash whenever they can.
69  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advcash | a new "anonymous" bitcoin debit card [EUR & USD] on: January 29, 2018, 12:35:22 AM
We'll see what's going on, they mention a new provider for their card but not more info for now.
By the way I just received my card from epayments.com
Luckily I registered with them a while ago, they allow transfer from a bitcoin address to your wallet. I'll try the card later.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO would you suggest for February and March? on: January 28, 2018, 02:59:21 PM
I cannot recommend you on how much money you should spend on CryptoBNB's ICO, that's your decision, I was just giving my personal opinion.
I believe in blockchain and that's why I think within 10 years blockchain will be widely spread and used by many companies and in many industries.
CryptoBNB was a choice because I've been personally working in a BNB before (in Asia) and saw how things can quickly changed in this field, with modern technology. If in the future blockchain becomes the norm (which I think it will be), then investing in this ICO is worth it.
Then you just need some big hotels and restaurants (and other hospitality business) to adopt this technology, and the rest will be history (just don't expect to be rich within a year! this is long term logic).
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO would you suggest for February and March? on: January 28, 2018, 02:33:39 PM
One of the things I check before investing in a ICO is if some publications regarding this project are on the web and even better, on reputable papers.

CryptoBNB has a few press releases, you can check here > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2547705.0
This is one of my favorite project for now, superb idea with huge potential (personal opinion).

What's so disruptive blockchain adds to this project comparing to AirBnB?
Well this is the future, simply because blockchain technology is the future. Everything will go faster and smoothly, more trustable and more transparent with a blockchain than with the way AirBNB works now, it's about trust and transparency (you can see everything on the blockchain). The way AirBNB works will become obsolete. You are looking at a great project with great result within next five years.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news! on: January 28, 2018, 02:13:13 PM
South Korea government never stated Bitcoin will be banned, the initial news of a few weeks ago was that it would be forbidden to trade coins anonymously, you will need to use your real name, and verify your identity on every platform you use.

This is common sense.

Big thumbs down to those who twisted the news and make it sound like Korea was about to ban bitcoin. Same thing happened with China in October, they talked about banning ICO and many here said bitcoin was banned in China. Please be careful when you share news.

There might be regulation in the UK quite soon, too: http://www.ladbible.com/news/news-will-britain-ban-bitcoin-theresa-may-wants-to-crack-down-on-bitcoin-20180125

like the quote:
Quote
Kevin Murcko, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange CoinMetro, said: "Regulation in the UK may not necessarily be a bad thing for the digital asset economy: government regulation is a legitimising force. New regulations would mean people would feel safer investing in cryptocurrencies, as fraudulent brokers will be excluded from the market.
"As different nations move to regulate cryptocurrencies in different ways, the short-term impact on the markets will be outweighed by the longer-term stability afforded by consumer protections and the elimination of fraudulent entities and practices.
"Compliance with an established regulatory framework, if done right, could lead to wider mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies and greater stability in emerging markets.
"It is my firm belief that we should be welcoming regulation into the cryptocommunity, rather than rejecting it. This will help to spur on adoption among mainstream investors and the general public."

This is exactly what the crypto world needs at the moment.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Secure wallet for altcoins on: January 28, 2018, 02:06:10 PM
Hi. Depends on which altcoins.
I personally use MyEtherWallet which supports ERC20 tokens.
Use one address for your ERC20 tokens and ETH, backup your private key and addresses. Your money is only as safe as the steps you take to protect your digital wallets and the systems you access them through.

75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Are Your Greatest Fears As a Bitcoin Holder? on: January 28, 2018, 01:51:53 PM
For those who fear a drop of the price, you should at least withdraw the equivalent of your investment, and keep the rest as a bonus (of course if you bought at a lower price than today's price), and if you bought at a higher price than now, you should have set a stop loss, that's what every reasonable traders do.
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin can't push prices higher on: January 28, 2018, 01:43:16 PM
Many withdrew their profits, first before Christmas, and now before Chinese New year.
Every year has been the same since 2015 with a low in January, wait for March before drawing any conclusion.

A steady rise of the adoption of bitcoin would be more healthy than huge speculation as it happened on early December.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting article on Wired about matching Bitcoin transactions to real people on: January 28, 2018, 12:41:35 AM
Not surprising, it is expected than more and more are switching to coins like Monero or Verge for real privacy.
With more and more regulations coming soon (probably in Europe), I don't think anyone can expect a future for bitcoin when privacy is concerned. Every transaction will need to be justified (probably saved somewhere). So bitcoin is becoming a "digital gold" for now.
On the other hand, if you have nothing to hide, then you can use bitcoin to buy things (we need more merchants to accept it and probably Lightning Network widely spread for that to become a reality).
And again, if you have nothing to hide, you'll need to pay your taxes on all profits you'll made if for example you trade with bitcoin, or earn bitcoin in signature campaigns or sports betting.
78  Economy / Economics / Re: France declares war on the cryptocurrencies on: January 27, 2018, 11:01:37 AM
As I read the article, I think France has a point on regulating cryptocurrencies but I doubt that this would lead to a total ban because if they want their investors to stop buying cryptocurrencies, they should ban it in the first place and not just regulation.
Yes, it seems like they want to regulate, but whatever plan they are taking, I believe it will only be taking place in France and not worldwide, unless other governments will just decide to follow their lead. But regulate Bitcoin, I don’t really see that as a good idea.

By the way, the bank of France governor said that Bitcoin is not a cryptocurrency, neither is it a currency. I wonder what he meant by that.
Probably means that he believes bitcoin right now is purely a speculative asset, and in that regard should be considered to have the same status as stocks in the financial market: so tax wise bitcoin profits will be taxed the same way as stock profits.
79  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advcash | a new "anonymous" bitcoin debit card [EUR & USD] on: January 27, 2018, 01:28:55 AM
But, the BTC rate to EUR, on their BTC-exchange.com is very low...  Undecided

That's the issue with all services providing a mastercard and a wallet in bitcoin (or ethereum), they take a massive fee on all exchanges. Advcash was just the same with their Top Up service, not many in the market right now, that's the reason why. Tough times.
Now there is the possibility to register at Exmo and send bitcoin to them directly, then convert to fiat and send to a mastercard, the problem is I don't know if we can trust Exmo, I have been reading so many negative comments about them (they won't even validate my legit documents anyway, no reason given, not the best start).
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin block size versus Bitcoin Cash block size (going to 32 MB?) on: January 26, 2018, 02:02:52 PM
Hi folks,

For many weeks now, we are all aware of Bitcoin scalability which is becoming a concern.
Good news is: it seems Lightning Network is being tested (and already functional), some people are against it, but it will help transactions to be quicker and cheaper (off chain transactions).
Some unknown however (for me): cost of opening a channel, what is a channel does not exist between me and the store, etc. but all things considered, Lightning Network is an exciting project I believe.

In the meantime, this is probably due to the current fierce competition in the crypto world, I am reading that Bitcoin Cash developers are planning to increase the block to 32 MB.
Apparently this plan has already been discussed. Question however: will current mining pool be able to support such size?
But what's striking to me if that for once, there seems to be an overall consensus between all developers (of BCH) which has became quite rare nowadays in the whole crypto world.

Any comment welcome.  Smiley
