angled pci-e power plugs.. my current cards are top of card power plugs insted of end ones. Thats annoying when trying to fit them into rack units and/or close fit cases.

these direct cu gpus are the coolest 7970s out there. i did only one day of testing - couldnt run psu at 110% for too long. but at stock clocks it did 60 to 70 C. overclocked one card peaked at 75 others about 70. oddly enough it ran cooler with door closed hence creating airflow i pressume.

Forced ventilation is (almost) always better than open air Smiley
But, what's your ambient temperature?
Intake temp is a priority to properly understand the airflow efficiency.

Thank you!

to be honest i didnt pay much attention to that. i had limited time to tinker with it since my current meter was going above 5A. i left this for now until i get 1500W PSU. i did my design based on many reviews saying 7970 dont go above 250W. though the current off the wall tells otherwise.

Try doing a lower voltage, might help you out in that

Artic silver 5 has a 200 hour "burn-in" phase. So you wont see the actual end result untill about that point. It might bring you down as uch as 2-5 degrees.

Doing a test atm with 2x 6870's with stock paste. I'll be putting as5 on it soon and will see what the end result is Smiley

Check that you don't have a device using the unit. And make sure it's connected with com6 if that's what you are using in cgminer. You should be able to find the com port in your device manager..

Also, did you launch with admin privileges?

The full extent of my mining operation. Peak temp of 35*

Loving the homemade UPS beneath the rig Smiley

Is that an avalon unit?

Not really looking to fill my entire suitcase Wink

Would be a hazzle being checked at customs and trying to explain why i brought "200 usb Sticks with a strange B on" home from HK... Smiley

447  Bitcoin / Hardware / Possible to buy USB erupters in HK/shenzhen? on: June 20, 2013, 03:21:35 PM
Hi guys

Im goin to hk/shenzhen province soon for some mixed business/vacation visit.

Does anyone know if its possible to buy the block erupters somewhere? - From what I can understand they are produced there somwhere but cannot seem to find the factory/a company selling it there?

Thanks,
Maze

My Lancelot is running nicely on 3.1.1

I just grabbed the driver of cardreaderfactory's website and it Works perfectly. Try bitminter client and see if that Works for you.

up Again it seems.

Was it a DDOS or hardware failure?
450  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / which motherboard for a core2duo (LGA755) cpu for 3x gpu on: June 15, 2013, 08:31:46 AM
hey guys

What options do I have for a 3x gpu mining rig when running a core2duo cpu? - trying to reuse some of the hardware i have laying around.

Got everything but a proper motherboard with more than 1x 16x pci-e - prefferably 3x if possible? - im not sure if that was even possible back then?

Thanks,
maze
451  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / blueprint for custom aluminium case on: June 12, 2013, 09:18:59 AM
Hey guys

Just wondering if any of you made any "blueprints"/guides/measurements for your cases? - Im considering either making a case, or modifying my current desktop case (Corsair Carbide 300R Midi Tower) with aluminium so it'll fit 3-4 x 7950's.

Thanks,
maze
452  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Issues with new mining rig. 2x 6870 + 1x 6850 on: June 11, 2013, 10:06:47 PM
Hi guys

My new/re-use ltc mining rig is causing me some issues.. I've got the 6850 running in the 16x socket on my motherboard. The 2x 6870 are running in 1x to 16x riser (powered).

If I use the bitminter java client it hashes at 25-30mh/s while the 6850 is running 200ish mh/s..

Any thoughts?

Its somewhat interesting, bitminter client Works fine, and accepts shares. cgminer pumps out hw errors on all the Cards and no accepted shares..

Any input would be great.

Thanks

it'll most likely be a long time before you have any BFL in hand. Seems like they are either dragin it on purpose or just cant keep up with demand... which is weird since they suddenly start selling their asic chips...... Smiley

around 580 - 1x Lancelot FPGA + 1x 6850 running at the moment. Got some issues with my 2x 6870 Cards sitting in my rig right now, cant get them to do more than 25-30MH/s .. Sad
457  Other / Beginners & Help / Issues with new mining rig. 2x 6879 + 1x 6850 on: June 04, 2013, 08:56:22 PM
Hi guys

My new/re-use ltc mining rig is causing me some issues.. I've got the 6850 running in the 16x socket on my motherboard. The 2x 6870 are running in 1x to 16x risers' non powered.

It's however like cgminer fails/crashes whenever I want to bring the 6870's up and running. Running the 6850 alone has itmhashing away. Right now I only have 1 of those connected to the psu. But do I really need to get a powered riser?

If I use the bitminter java client it hashes at 25-30mh/s while the 6850 is running 200ish mh/s..

Any thoughts?
