101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need Advice for Cheap Swapping on ETH on: April 22, 2024, 03:32:20 PM
First of all, don't trade on Uniswap through the OG chain. Now there are a myriad of rollups and whatever other layer2 tech solutions that allow you to also trade in a decentralized manner without having to worry about huge fees on Ethereum. You can try OP, Arbitrum, Polygon among others... Or just even stick with a centralized exchange and pay very minuscule fees for instant order matching.

On-chain trading is more expensive because you usually have to pay a minimum 0.5% fee and also tx fees on top whereas with binance you just pay a 0.2% for each trade or even less with BNB deposited. And also on-chain because everything is visible there's always the chance of getting front-run or sandwich attacked.
102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the Reluctance? on: April 22, 2024, 03:02:52 PM
Because Nigeria has its own licensing scheme and I guess certain casinos would rather block Nigerians completely rather than being sanctioned or asked to pay fines. Maybe in future they could consider having a legitimate presence in the country and for that to ever happen they need a clean record. Otherwise it would ruin their brand and make it unusable in the local market.

But the one to blame here are not the individual casinos that are blocking Nigerian IP addresses. It's the politicians that hand out licenses to casinos without much thought. Think about it, would you say that every locally licensed casino is better than the ones advertised here? Most probably no. And yet what do we see happening? A few rich people in each country start offshores and buy a casino license to just milk the locals. Profits end up untaxed and funneled through offshore accounts mostly. This process only enriches the politicians and makes access available only to some sub-par casinos that usually aren't even provably fair.
103  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Crypto Exchange Moves Money for Gaza Groups on: April 22, 2024, 02:55:20 PM
So let's see, bitcoin.com, being owned by Roger Ver, self proclaimed libertarian who renounced his U.S. citizenship to be able to live more "freely"...  Hosts a hit-piece on Russia and the only organization in Palestine resisting against the Zionist occupation. Oh how the tables have turned. This is plain state-propaganda. Hamas being labeled as a terror org just makes way for Israel to keep committing genocide. Literally the Palestinians in Gaza have no other way to resist. Yes, Hamas being fond of a theocracy isn't the ideal organization to organize an armed resistance group through their paramilitaries but what can we do. They're the de facto government in Gaza, and last time the west afforded pestilential the right to have elections they were elected in a majority vote. Probably elections haven't been held since in fear of the more west-aligned PLO losing also the west bank.

Bitcoin being used for financial transactions isn't news though. Money needs to get in Gaza as well in spite of Israel's terror choke hold on these people. Money finds a way one way or the other. These people need to live. So money getting in a 40 by 10 km strip of land is just used for terror purposes? If these people were afforded equal rights by their occupying force, there wouldn't ever be a need for a Hamas or so called "money laundering". Just something to think about, but much of the western world needs to start thinking about blaming the aggressor first.
104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't make your bets when you're tired on: April 22, 2024, 01:51:58 PM
The title should rather be to not make serious bets when you're tired. In my opinion, it's ok to have fun and make a few rolls on a game or just bet on some matches at whatever situation you may be so long as the amounts risked aren't important to you. If the risk you take can have consequences to you then you should think about it again before making such bets in my opinion.

Of course  when you're tired and a bit back on your cognitive skills it's easier to make bad decisions and also be more compulsive. But bad decisions aren't that important if you take into account that gambling is purely chance based. What matters is that it's a game to have fun with. If you're compulsive then you should work on your impulse control instead of using excuses such a saying "I was tired". If you lose everything ain't nobody gonna care if you were tired when playing or not.
105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: April 22, 2024, 12:08:24 AM
So it's an interesting time to watch the super league, around the end and we're still seing 4 teams having chances to hit the top. It's quite a fierce battle for the spots in international leagues and the year's title. PAOK is 4 points behind with a match less and Olympiakos 5. And yet a few matches with them against the top team's in the league. Realistically speaking Panathinaikos and AEK are better positioned at this point.

So let's see, for the next match day:

I think the odds for betting on Olympiakos are pretty decent. Probably worth giving it a shot, Olympiakos is having a pretty good time with them being also on the semi finals of europa conference league, surely they could do well against Aris.
106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can people still get the addictive nature through friendly games on: April 21, 2024, 11:31:43 PM
Friendly games are one of the best ways to get addicted in my view, especially if someone has an addictive personality. You get to sit through a comfortable environment with people you know, spew your heart out, enjoy yourself, and come to associate gambling with all these positive feelings, let alone of the rush that the chance of winning gives you.

However, there's a huge misunderstanding also. Because people think that gambling can be ruinous on its own. Look, if someone has absolutely nothing to look up to, no friends to have fun with, no family to support and get supported, then he's much more likely to end up following ruinous behavior be it with gambling, alcohol or any other abuses such as drugs. So if you gamble with your friends, be also a good friend outside of this event too. It'll help them stay sane and away from trouble Wink
107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What the Heck Do Gamblers Mean By this Phrase on: April 21, 2024, 11:18:48 PM
It's kinda funny, but many people that gamble kinda believe in supernatural ends to their playing. It's only natural then that you'll hear phrases from them that make zero to no sense like this one.

Well, it's a luck based game in any case so one way or the other it doesn't matter all that much. If people believe that they have a supernatural way of handling their luck, it doesn't make a difference. It's still gonna be random and result are still gonna be irrelevant to any superstitious thing that happens. Ofc during the course of a certain timespan some people are going to be more lucky than others. But in the long run, those praying to have a better "flow of cards" are gonna go bust more often at certain times too.  Cheesy
108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Understanding the Impact of Social Media in Gambling. on: April 21, 2024, 11:09:35 PM
Social media surely gives a lot of visibility to gambling. The big casinos have gotten big names in the rap and boxing game on their side to promote them as "influencers" and this draws new crowds to try gambling as a constant stream.

The thing with this type of promotion is that it has certain drawbacks for the viewer. For one, there's no showcase of the cons of gambling in this type of promotion. Influencers are incentivized to only show their wins. And this creates a wrapped perception for people that they're just going to get wins. Like for instance when people gamble on stream, they're constantly shown earning huge winnings streaks. etc.

This of course isn't realistic and many people are suspecting that the odds for streamers might be fixed. This wrapped perception towards gambling does real damage to inexperienced people to be honest so the perception people get on gambling from social media isn't that great.
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No gambling today due to bitcoin high transaction fee. on: April 21, 2024, 09:14:59 PM
People using bitcoin to deposit to casinos probably won't care paying a fee of 10 or 25$. Those of us that care and are already experienced enough with crypto are most likely already aware of alternative methods probably. Like for example using USDT on BSC or Tron network to pay fees like 1 USDT per transfer. Even that is a big high for some people but hey, at least compared to ETH and BTC fees it is very much on the low side. I don't know how often people withdraw from gambling casinos though.

I'd guess it's mostly that people care about how much it costs them to deposit. And for such reasons most crypto casinos are also introducing credit card payment methods lately also. Even if you pay a 10% fee to deposit crypto via credit card payment, it still makes sense on low payment amounts like 10$
110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What’s the slot games perfect for completing wagering requirements on: April 21, 2024, 07:40:11 PM
I try to wager on slots that allow a low minimum bet. To be honest I don't go for wagering requirement bonuses because they're a practice used by casinos to make people go broke. The more you wager on slots the more the chances to lose everything. If you have a wagering requirement to fulfill then you might be lucky at first but you'll eventually more likely than not end up losing everything because you have to wager so much that it'll end up biting you back.

Better just play on your own and leave if you get lucky in my honest opinion. Other than wagering requirements though there are some bonuses on certain provider slots and these kinda help more than the bonuses in my experience.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your previous experience that you got after bitcoin halving. on: April 20, 2024, 05:16:30 PM
Mh experience with the halving is that there's a whole bunch of marketing around it while in reality the impact on real life transactions with Bitcoin isn't that large. At least for a while we're going to realize that any potential positive impact might've been priced in.

And then maybe after a few months only then large buyers might feel the impact on OTC markets. This halving comes at a time.whetr mining has been happening at an industrial scale. So these mibers have probably found ways to offload their BTC long before the halving and have taken into account it's impact on their profitability. The increase in price that happened prior to the halving probably allows them to continue mining for longer in profit but who knows for how long.

More centralization in mining could eventually lead to a bigger drive to offload BTC faster too. Which might mean that probably might even go down after the halving.
112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Casino Game Has the Best Odds? on: April 19, 2024, 09:39:34 PM
You can play video blackjack on Stake for only 0.57% house edge. But really it's not that impressive to know this when you can understand that playing in person with friends virtually has zero house edge. Any amount of house edge is needed to sustain a game being hosted by casinos so you're not gonna find that online that much.

But also if you account for rakeback and VIP bonuses on any casino that gives such, the real house edge is a bit lower than just what's the one shown. Is that a tangible difference? Maybe in the extreme long run... But overall no. So I think in reality if you're playing a game with or around 1% house edge it won't matter that much. Just play for enjoyment and don't bother that much with this info imho. Because if you're risking too much for what you can afford, even 0% house edge can be ruinous.
113  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why not create a Gambling platform on Market narrative? on: April 19, 2024, 09:33:27 PM
There already is a way to earn from predicting future performance of an asset and it's called futures. Already perpetual futures for cryptocurrency trading are quite popular and you can trade them on most crypto exchanges unless you're in certain jurisdictions where it's not legal. But then again you can even do it through unregulated decentralized platforms like dxdy for instance.

Also some gambling platforms have already implemented games for predicting prices. I had made a thread about this and got some relevant responses here. It seems like there's a bit of a trend to actually bet on an asset's price rather than just trade futures now so it's an interesting aspect of gambling. I kinda wish it grows so there's more products available.
114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: THERE ARE TWO THINGS INVOLVED on: April 19, 2024, 09:20:53 PM
That's a lot of words to describe chasing profits imho. The practice of chasing profits is bad either way because you just risk more to earn nothing. It's the sunk cost fallacy all over again. This thing has been a known fallacy for centuries.

But if you're really into it, no need to reinvent the wheel. Gambling has principles applied to it like any gamefied thing so the sunk cost fallacy and anything that's been said about it still applies here. Nothing to gain when you're in loss but lots to lose. On the one hand I do kinda like tho that's discussion about how people perceive it. People that have been burned from gambling and regret it, saying they won't play again, are indeed on a good path and these stories are worth sharing.

So to me that's what matters. Caring about your life and doing meaningful things. Finding meaningful employment to you, getting a sense of community etc. It's all good. Spending too much time on gambling isn't contributing to a greater cause overall so if you're feeling like you're burned maybe taking a break or abstaining is the best choice.
115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do casinos do with inactive accounts? on: April 19, 2024, 05:04:06 PM
Some casinos will outright delete your account and keep the balance.

I had created an account on wolf.bet and had a balance than by that time was small, but the coins I held in my account went up like 10x... At the time they didn't have any rules that said if you remain inactive they will delete your account. So when I had signed up there was no such rule I could have agreed with.

But years passed, and I wanted to see what my balance was worth. Now they had amended rules and even had the nerve to apply it retroactively even though I had never signed these rules. They ended up deleting my account and never even contacted me about potentially recovering my balance before doing so... It's a very scummy practice but this is one of the reasons you should never leave deposits in casinos for long.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is the game 'Fortune Tiger' or the little tiger game famous in your region? on: April 19, 2024, 04:34:08 PM
The RTP is not great but at least with such a max multiplier being at 2500x I hope the game has low volatility. Frequent payouts can often give the illusion that a slot is "loaded" or that it pays out well. Well in reality the RTP in these games is usually on the low side and this is a prime example. These games are often avoided by the more experienced crown in gamblers.

So it kinda makes sense influencer got on the bandwagon to start promoting it. They need a new generation of gamblers and mostly the younger crowds too to make their money. They earn from affiliate marketing and from people's losses so they don't really care to do some unethical advertising. Better look into the stats of such games before diving in. If you're smart, you'd stay away of "Fortune tiger" and pretty much most games advertised by influencers.
117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Conference League 2023/24 Season on: April 18, 2024, 10:01:19 PM
WOW! Olympiakos won in the penalties against fenerbahce. It's the first time Olympiakos will be in a semifinal of a european tournament! We'll be now seeing them play against Aston Villa.

Such a big day for the Greek team that got an amazing qualification. Certainly an interesting turn of events especially given Olympiakos' state back home, where they're too far away from a title this year. Surely Aston Villa will be a very hard opponent for a Greek team but it's a historic qualification nevertheless. A day to celebrate for any Greek football fan for sure.
118  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 18, 2024, 09:50:52 PM
What would you post there that's worthy of merit? An analysis piece maybe? Some data?

From my observations most seasoned members of this forum aren't that much interested in taking risks trading and would rather have a job contributing to something or just hodl their BTC. Historically simply HODL strategy has paid off very well for those that didn't trade at all. Trades have the risk of blowing up in your face or leaving you with losses or at least impermanent losses. Whereas BTC seems to have only kept going up against the dollar in the long run.

So even if you post some very good technical analysis, most people in this forum that are seasoned bitcoiners and would also be able to give you merit, wouldn't find it that interesting. Of course there's a select few that do try to trade here also, but most of them hang out in a single thread in the speculation board. Anyone that has been here a while knows what I'm talking about.
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Raptors forward Jontay Porter banned from life from NBA for betting violations on: April 18, 2024, 09:45:32 PM
Jontay Porter seems to have been banned for life from the NBA for violating certain rules.
He was disclosing vital health information to gamblers and was also using an account of an acquaintance to bet on games himself.
source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/basketball/68840803

It's crazy to think that an NBA player would throw away his career like that. This has also put the bets of many people in jeopardy as now many accounts in gambling sites end up being investigated for potential involvement in match fixing rings that were sharing this information. I see that some people in this forum have been affected too. Have you faced any effects from this also?

On the other hand, one has to commend the NBA commissioners for doing such a thorough investigation and responding fast. They did everything right. Gathered evidence, published a thorough report, published the perpetrator's strategy and disclosed his name, also giving him a lifetime ban. This is exactly how any self-respecting sports league should act. I wish more leagues would make an example out of those caught match fixing.
120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: April 18, 2024, 09:16:21 PM
I also think Aris vs AEK could be a good pick for this match day. The odds are pretty decent especially seeing AEK having won against the same team in a 2 - 0 final score.

So yes, my money is on AEK winning again.
Maybe also this time I'll place a bet on over 2.25 for the Panathinaikos vs Lamia match. The odds don't seem half as bad based on past games especially:

Seeing how many goals Lamia has been receiving it's a bit of an obvious choise to bet on a high number of goals, 2.25 is pretty conservative imo but better safe. Someone might want to play on even higher goal counts if they see Lamia's run in the playoffs.
