281  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: March 03, 2024, 09:13:20 AM
In my experience, most reports that are submitted there and follow the guidelines tend to get addressed by the moderators.
That's a good thread and thanks for bringing it to my attention. However I'm very doubtful on what moderators expect to delete a post or thread response based on the AI accusation. Sometimes even for an AI system, there can be bad outputs (as I mentioned it being a trash in trash out system). I've reported obvious word salads that reshuffle words in the OP or from other responses at best adding a couple original words. Even those didn't get taken down.

Even in the aforementioned thread there's responses from over a week ago that came out as AI generated text with 98% certainty, and the mods still did not remove it.

Since mods are acting in this manned, not being strict or outright ignoring AI posts... I am wondering. Should there be more mobilization of users in that regard? Perhaps start giving neg trust to those abusing AI to make posts... Or we just don't care about it anymore?
282  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: March 03, 2024, 08:54:26 AM
There should be some framework to address AI posts.

The other day I reported a post reply that was clearly AI generated. For instance, when you put into ChatGPT a piece of text and say to it "write a response in similar words" it will just reshuffle the words and make a response that barely makes any sense, recycling all the input. It's a trash in trash out system after all.

So instead of at least providing some incentive to make such reports mods labeled them as bad... I almost never have my reports labeled as bad and I've made thousands of reports. So if mods treat reports against AI like this, then I think the forum is doomed to be flooded with AI messages, which mods are seemingly giving a greenlight too.

It's obvious even to me that many participants in signature campaigns have started using AI models for their thread responses, but very rarely are they called out about it and even if they are, signature campaign managers that pay them get no consequences...
283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you had this gambling experience? on: March 02, 2024, 08:23:36 PM
Personally I only watch local basketball and football so I can say I am not enthusiastic about many matches. If I was tk be betting o my on games I am watching I would be betting on soccer once every two or three weeks due to time constraints also. The thing I take UK TK when gambling lately is putting low stakes in high odds paroly bets lately as I find this more enjoyable. I like the chances but not being obsessed with every single match to be honest. And being ok with low stakes is better for me.

But of course everyone has their own style. I think it's a bit superstitious to consider that you have more or less chances to win based on if you are interested in a match or not.
284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it time now to use Premium VPN when playing in the casino? on: March 02, 2024, 06:20:18 PM
Really though on most countries you don't need a VPN to access online casinos. They mostly work with just changing the DNS. Most countries don't have further enforcement against online casinos so the extra privacy of a VPN is not that needed.

Also be wary of these "premium" personal IP services as they are often scams. Or at the very least misleading. You should be careful in which casino you play at though, if they are not friendly to a VPN and you need a VPN in your country and might as well not okay at these casinos. Go to casinos that don't care about KYC and VPNs instead.
285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: March 02, 2024, 09:35:55 AM
AEK Athena as the top of the standings seems to be in an unfavorable condition because they have to compete with PAOK in maintaining their top position because their difference is only 1 point.
Indeed it's a tough last match for AEK because Aris is a very decent team. In the event that AEK loses or even ends up in a tie with Aris it's possible that their spot as first could be overtaken very easily by PAOK. If they lose Panathinaikos could be also coming in a tie in points with them in the first place, which will be judged by other metrics such as goals.

I was about to post this weekend's match, but you already have. There are a few interesting matches that are worth betting on, such as PAOK vs. Lamia, which you already mentioned; Olympiakos vs. Volos; and possibly AEK vs. Aris. Although AEK has the first position in the Super League, nothing is guaranteed, and Aris' performance is quite decent as well. The rest of them seem like a lost cause to me, and betting on them seems risky. Although I also support OFI, I'm going to stay neutral this time. I'd rather not lose money just because it's our local team. Panathinaikos is most likely to win, judging by their standing.

Indeed I think Panathinaikos and PAOK have easier matches for their last match compared to AEK which is facing Aris who are considered one of the bigger and more historical teams in Greece. It'll be an interesting faceoff for all teams but still Aris doesn't have much to gain from this. Their point difference is too big to enter into a better position. Still fighting for Valor they would still push for a win IMO because winning against the first team in the standings counts a lot.
286  Other / Politics & Society / Why haven't you joined a union yet? on: March 02, 2024, 09:29:49 AM
I saw a poll recently that stated that approval of Unions in the United States is the highest it has been ever since 1965.

This is proof that the landscape is changing on a global scale. If a country like the U.S., which was plagued by state and government propaganda has an approval rating for unions above 70%, then any place in the world could be seeing increases in unionization of workers. Let's be realistic, there are many distractions in the U.S. that could lead someone to believe that Unions don't work. Let's not kid ourselves, even other than the red scare and cold war propaganda, the U.S. is a big economy and many people are doing well. Combined with some yellow unions that have emerged recently, it's no wonder many people aren't that fond of unions. However that has been changing over the years. Corporate profits have been increasing, while workers get meager to no salary increases. In the meantime prices keep going up with inflation.

In reality, US wages in terms of purchasing power have been very stagnant:

So the question now is, why haven't YOU changed a union?

I understand there could be very varied answers to this. From there not being a union in your location or field of expertise, perhaps the recognized "union" being influenced by the bosses too much, maybe even class issues (considering oneself too well off to participate in a worker's union) or perhaps even political disagreements with what most union members might consider a better world still outside the workplace. I'm eager to hear what crypto users have to say on the matter because well, using crypto doesn't exclude one from being part of the working class.
287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: March 02, 2024, 12:36:09 AM
Good to see we won the last picks. Well at least in the Asian total got 1.50 of the payout. I think we're on a roll

Another matchday coming soon:

Well many matches are condensed in a short period of time in the last few days. The Greek Super League will soon be entering in the play-off/play-out phase, but we're at a point where it's crucial to see who could finish first. It's a fierce competition at this point between AEK and PAOK, with PAOK only being first by a single point. It's certainly an interesting year in the Greek Super League.

But let's see what's worth betting on this day imo.

So I'll say that I can't be 100% certain if AEK will win against Aris but I'm very confident there will be many goals as both teams tend to score in their matches lately:

PAOK having 1.37 odds against Lamia sounds good to me.

And lastly, as much as I like OFI, I feel like Panathinaikos is going to take an easy win here. In spite of Panathinaikos having taken a fluke recently, not winning a match that was supposed to be easy, I think this one will be easy for them.
288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which of these betting Statements Do you Agree or Disagree With? on: March 01, 2024, 11:55:52 PM
I think number four ("Don't bet every day") is a good principle. For one, overdoing it in gambling is something that can be a frequent result from having other troubles in real life. Being depressed, having family or work issues etc... Overall stress can lead to bad decisions like losing too much money in gambling for instance. So if someone can fill his time with more creative activities, it's a good thing.

If one can integrate just a bit of gambling through having a social life and a healthy work environment, it's always better. Having a great support network and things to look up for, then it's less likely to fall for mishaps in gambling such as overdoing it and potentially losing more than one can actually afford.
289  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Future of Gambling on: March 01, 2024, 11:18:04 PM
I think in the future of gambling isn't going to have that much innovation.
It's been a while since I have seen something entirely new in gabling, perhaps 10 years even. As gambling is allowed to be advertised more widely we're entering into a cycle of new people entering gambling, so for them it's not worth it to invent new stuff. Casinos are just reskinning their old games as new, players don't mind. They just spin slot machines all the time without much of a care.

So really talking about the future of gambling isn't that much of an exciting thing to talk about. A sector being too profitable doing the same things over and over doesn't exactly need to innovate. If a few casinos however start earning more due to offering unique services it's going to start some competition which I think is much needed in the space. The only innovations I've noticed in gambling lately is basically in the UI/UX department. But there's only so much innovation there can be in that regard.
290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Decentralized vs Centralized Gambling....Which do you prefer? on: March 01, 2024, 10:38:12 PM
I prefer centralized gambling because from what I've seen decentralized contracts keep getting hacked over and over. If you check rekt.news it's just crazy.
Also there's other disadvantages. Decentralized transactions can get stuck, or suffer from very expensive fees like on ethereum for instance. So it's really counter intuitive to gamble on most platforms.

Also because of how centralized Web3 wallets are, it's easy to get hacked and not even notice it. Don't forget the Ledger web3 connector hack, that happen through just a github compromised account. It's crazy how weak the security of supposedly decentralized web3 infrastructure.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it possible to inherit a gambling debt? on: March 01, 2024, 10:25:38 PM
This is highly dependent on a country's legislation. For example, in certain countries you can just deny the whole inheritance from your parents and then you also don't inherit the debt.
In other countries one simply can not inherit any debt at all. Other times it can be mandatory to inherit certain kinds of debts.

Honestly though, I don't think gambling debt is as enforceable as debt to a bank. Of course if you deposit in a casino with a credit card, or with money from a bank loan... The casino keeps the money you lost and the bank still goes after you no matter where you spent it at. Moral of the story I think is that everyone should be responsible. Don't go on debt for large risks like that. Better just play with cash you can afford to lose.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: your perception about gambling on: February 29, 2024, 11:49:09 PM
Especially online gambling is not restricted to any specific class at all. Online you can make bets with 0.000001$ or millions. Nobody is going to stop you. So if we're talking in very broad terms, then there's very little restriction to who's really gonna gamble. I think the distinction here should be a bit different. I think the more educated gambler these days has come online. Betting shops don't offer good odds, and the games they feature are not provably fair nor have a low house edge. Scratch cards for instance, which are one of the most popular methods for lower class people to gamble, are a way

But if we're talking about what class of people gets mostly affected by gambling, sure, poor people loose more of their income.
293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Support, do not criticize. on: February 27, 2024, 11:51:39 PM
It means a lot to have someone you know you can count on. Oftentimes people addicted to gambling have various psychological traumas that are hard to diagnose and quantify especially in countries without a supportive public healthcare system. And oftentimes outreach programs specifically to gambling are also nearly nonexistent.

People in general need good support systems. So don't be judgmental when someone asks for help. Sure try and come up with solutions but most importantly be there to help. This is what matters and this is what will get people through some of their darker times. Think of it this way, if your brother was mourning, would you be there for them or mock them? Oftentimes people see addicts as an easy victim to kick down while they're at their worse, but support to those people can go a long way. But it's really important to do what you can if you care about someone!
294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: February 27, 2024, 08:58:22 PM
Well, Germany has struck out at Eurovision again.  I hate to say it, but this year's entry just doesn't seem like a good fit for the contest.  We picked a decent song and Isaac is a talented singer, but the whole package lacks that special Eurovision sparkle needed to stand out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twhq3S4YHdQ
Yeah, it's not bad, but nothing special. It sounds like song that you will forget after few minutes. Don't know why Germany aren't taking Eurovision more seriously.
I think the countries that have a guaranteed spot in the final rarely bother to send an entry that's too good partly because it would be too cocky, but also because they don't need to bother. These entries don't reach the final on merit so if they want to send a joke entry and get it seen by everyone without having to bother with semi-finals, they sure can. But I think the United Kingdom and Germany specifically, being some of the largest countries in Europe, as well as having a guaranteed spot in the final, usually don't want to be too competitive.

It's so weird and really a shame to see the U.K., a country with such a robust music scene, to end up taking places close to the last year after year. Like yeah, ok, some countries really don't like the UK., but they've also been sending irrelevant songs. Not particularly bad, just really forgettable.
295  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: February 27, 2024, 08:08:53 PM
for example, if in this event that the op posted, the majority of countries are critical of how Israel is managing the war and a singer appears with poor quality music, terrible lyrics but which criticizes Israel, then that singer will be declared the winner, if any songs appear singing about global warming, then you will be declared the winner. We no longer look at the quality of music, the message that music wants to convey to society and how this music can help improve society, people today no longer care about the lyrics of the song, politicians and competition judges they just choose the music that best suits their goals
It's kinda funny how politicized Eurovision has been in the last few years.

There's a rule against politicized songs and lyrics but this rule only seems to be leveraged in favor of EU's establishment. In the last few years only Russia and pro-Russian entries have been harmed by Eurovision Rules.

2017 Ukraine refused entry to the Russian singer, ultimately not being able to compete at all.
2021 The European Broadcasting Union bans Belarus for supposedly political lyrics.
2022 Preemptive ban of Russia from the competition due to the war in Ukraine.

Why then shouldn't Israel be banned this year for carrying out a genocide that's even recognized by the International Court of Justice? It would only be fair to receive the same treatment.
Instead they threaten a ban on the song only after it's revealed to be in support of the war... And probably it won't even be banned.

It's fair game then in my opinion for other countries to send pro-palestinian and anti-genocide entries to the competition. Also fair game for people voting for the competition to do so in support of political opinions. It's going to be a fierce song competition in political terms (ironically). However also there's a large call to boycott the competition so ultimately it'd be interesting to see how much leverage these pro/anti entries would get.
296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 26, 2024, 03:31:37 PM
Over here in Greece gambling is considered a serious sin by the church and given that mourning the dead is closely associated with religious practices, there is no tradition to gamble in mourning.

However there is also different cultures for different people. Not everyone is religious, but the issue here is if the deceased person also liked something, then his friends could create an event recreating a schene in his memory to pay respects. I have seen this quite frequently in African American culture for instance.
297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Unusual Story that Reflects the Current Gambling Addiction Reality on: February 26, 2024, 02:41:53 PM
Gambling addiction is a real issue and sadly while many governments profit from gambling (even from unlicensed or illegal one), they do nothing to provide their citizens with amenities they need for quitting addiction.

Honestly, any program against addiction in the world could use more funding in this moment. People are faced with very dire situations and if the programs to help those in need are underfunded, outreach is less likely to help those most in need, and also the programs have less tools and staff in their disposal due to funding being lacking. In my country alone a large percentage of the country's GDP was wagered in online casinos, and that's only the licensed ones. Households are being destroyed as we speak, but the government at the same time is cutting funding to centers that provide free counseling for addiction.

My concern is that this will just keep getting worse. Something needs to be done about it. Not only do we need to support our public health systems and infrastructure, which at the end of the day are funded with our own money, we also need to pressure our governments to take action.
298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Eurovision 2024 bets on: February 26, 2024, 02:30:18 PM
Will you be betting on Eurovision this year?

The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) is quite popular in Europe. It's kind of an official institution at this point, with most countries of the continent sending a team to represent their country with a song in the competition. This year fewer countries will participate than in other years but still there's going to be a lot of competition.

Eurovision also has a big and very dedicated fan base and those fans often look at betting odds to see who's more likely to win the contest. This year I'm also eager to see which crypto bookies will accept bets on the ESC. The ranking in the final is determined in part by jury but also through audience votes. So people's opinion is really important in this competition.

Here's some info on countries that will be participating in this year's contest:

First semi-final on the 7th of May:

Second semi-final on the 8th of May:

Countries that have already secured a spot in the final on the 11th of May:

There's also a unique circumstance this year where many participating countries have called on the expulsion of Israel from the competition due to the ongoing genocide the Israeli government is causing on Gaza. The organizers however weren't listening. But upon the revelation of Israel's entry, they're only now threatened with expulsion due to politicized lyrics (supposedly in support of the war), which are supposedly forbidden in the competition. So another betting option to look out for even before May when Eurovision will be taking place is if Israel will be allowed to compete or not.

So what do you think about betting on Eurovision? Will you be seeking out platforms to bet on it? Do you know which platforms will be accepting bets on the ESC in crypto?
Any thoughts on who's gonna pass from the semi finals to the final? Who's gonna be the winner perhaps? Let's get this thread going! Smiley

Soooo! For the last match day both of my picks were successful. Cool

AEK won against Lamia

And PAOK won against Panetolikos

Alright, the next matchday is in just a couple of days! Grin

So we'll have to make our picks fast this time.

I'm looking over at the Panaitolikos vs Olympiacos match, with odds of 1.38 for an Olympiacos win:

I think this is a good pick for these odds. Panaitolikos only has 19 points this season so far while Olympiakos has 50 so 1.38 for betting on a far superior team winning is good enough for me.

This time I also feel like making a different kind of bet though! On the Aris vs Panathinaikos match, I'm of the belief that there will be many goals scored:

Speaking of standings:

We're at an interesting point where 3 teams could be contesting the top spot in this very matchday, with Olympiacos also being just 5 points away from the top spot. If one of the top three teams faces a mishap like Panathinaikos did in the last matchday and ended up just getting a tie, we could see some overtakes.
I'm placing a bet on 1.75 Over based on the fact that in the last few matches both teams have been scoring, plus both teams are high in the rankings so they're highly motivated to win.
