361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Older men vs Younger boys in gambling, Which enjoys Gambling for fun the more? on: February 04, 2024, 10:08:17 PM
I think gambling is something that can be enjoyed regardless of age. Here's some examples:

Young children that have maybe just gotten in their teens or even before that sometimes, will obsess over what in game drop them receive whenever there is supposed random chance involved to unlock a virtual item such as a digital in game knife that looks neat or a character skin tnat makes their game avatar appear in a different manner than usual.

It's weird but sometimes these even involve money so even children can gamble these days and sadly if it's for game items it's mostly considered legal. Some young people are even facing symptoms of withdrawal over these matters.

On the other hand, a more seasoned gambler won't need the front of a video game to enjoy his gsmbling activities. He can do it outright simply for the money and still enjoy it. If you think about it, playing cards of dice which are some of the most popular games, are not that interesting in terms of graphics. It's just chances and money. So older people, without any age limit, purify gambling down to it's simplest form and still enjoy it. Each one activity is valuable in terms of enjoyment in its own rite.
362  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Eligius pool is back under the new name Ocean on: February 04, 2024, 09:54:42 PM
Anyone know how could it be possible to see how many of OCEAN's mined TXns are from this new BRC-20 like on-chain technology called RUNES? At least with other such spammy things so far it was pretty easy to notice them by pasting the block tx on ordinals.com. I'm pretty sure Ocean mines Runes but I am not sure how to check entire block so far...
363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The scam of FAKE fixed matches on: February 04, 2024, 09:51:21 PM
Not the match.

Let be honest, these is just the casino. No matter what match we are gonna to bet, If the casino provided these on their website is their responsibility. So, the problem is the casino are the scam not the match.

Always use casinos that have good credibility, especially when people already using them. Remember, people experience is really good rather than a score ratings on some website review because is easily be manipulated by the casino.
The thing with this scam is that these matches are so out there that if you were to search for them occasionally you would only come up with this bookmaker. Other times it would be a match with similar tream names, but on different days. For example without the U18 tag that the supposed fixed match would have. In theory it can be realistic for a U18 team to exist and play on another day, however if it was a real match, there can't only be one bookmarker in the world featuring this match... Let alone a bookmaker that came out really recently.

So yeah, it is actually an issue with trust, but having a match where you're supposed to win 10x guaranteed maybe makes some people less likely to check.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: February 04, 2024, 09:44:49 PM
So the prediction I made on PAOK actually winning came out to be true  Smiley

Also seeing panathinaikos win 2 to 0 against Olympiakos gives out some hope that Panathinaikos might be still chasing a title or perhaps even European dreams this year.
Sadly PAOK is doing all too well but the matches ahead from how are gonna be crucial on who developes a lead. Did y'all catch any bets this week on Greek league? I hope you took up betting on the PAOK match as I said  Grin
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another Two Category Of Gamblers That We Are Not Aware Of on: February 04, 2024, 09:37:54 PM
This seems more like a superstition other than anything else...
Just like Koreans think your life is judged by your blood type, or how many indian people still kinda somehow follow the caste system...
Based on how someone gambles they come up with character traits? I wish life was that simple so we could judge people with things like zodiac signs or character stats.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 03, 2024, 11:59:23 PM
I think the largest casinos are starting to be more and more privately funded these days.
The more exciting games and innovative gambling games like slots are usually privately funded, and even the few companies that are publicly listed that offer slots to privately funded casinos, they are becoming monopolized lately. Just look at how many acquisitions Evolution gaming has made. The few competitors they have will either go bankrupt soon or be acquired imho.

So I don't think at the moment it's too much worth it to take up the opportunity to invest in gambling in any of the mainstream ways, unless you have enough money to start a competitive and innovative casino.
367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your multi-bet (paroli) strategy? on: February 03, 2024, 11:57:38 PM
I think for me the best strategy to make multi bets is mostly having reliable performance by the teams that match against each other.

And then again, because the initial odds are provided by the bookmaker, having greater participation in a match, gives more realistic odds to matches.
So for me gambling with multi-bets on days that large leagues are playing like EPL, Spanish LaLiga and NBA are playing matches, is a better time to make bets in parlay.
So all in all, I'm starting to see some sense of strategy in all this. Maybe I'll spin this out to a separate thread with my own opinions a little later.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What remarkable thing have you achieved with the money you won from gambling? on: February 03, 2024, 11:40:08 PM
I think the remarkable thing for me would be that in spite of being a gambler that has been gambling for years I have not been at a loss.
Profits aren't great but I'm glad to be paid in enjoyment from gambling and related activities.

So all in all, I'm sure there's chance to win big, but that's a very small percentage of the gambling scene. And I'm just glad that my luck has existed to an extent that I'm not in the vast majority that hasn't lost more than what they've won in gambling in total.
369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: February 02, 2024, 11:58:55 PM
Wow, the Panathinaikos vs. Olympiakos match offers some great odds for both teams; what a derby! I might consider betting on Draw; nothing is obvious in this case, but despite what I do or who wins, I'll be watching it for sure. 1.5 is quite decent for what I could call an almost guaranteed win. Atromitos Athinon stands no chance against PAOK; the same likely applies to AEK vs. Asteras Tripolis. This weekend seems fruitful, and I wish you good luck as well!
Yeah 3.0 odds for a draw is quite decent as it's not an unlikely outcome between the two.
This was also the result when Panathinaikos and Olympiakos matched against eachother in the Greek cup

with Panathinaikos eventually winning in penalties...

So betting on draw here in my opinion makes a lot of sense. But as a game the outcome is a little unpredictable. Both teams haven't been in their best form, in spite of being the teams in the league with the best funding, they keep getting beat by PAOK...
370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your multi-bet (paroli) strategy? on: February 02, 2024, 11:52:20 PM
In my opinion, making multibet bets with more than 5 games is very risky and I avoid doing that, I also don't make multibet bets when I see that the total odds are below 2.00. The ideal for me is that in multibet bets I can get odds from 5.00 upwards, but with less than 5 games included in the parlay. This is because placing many games, for example 10 games in a parlay, is very risky even if each game has very low odds, something like 1.20, as I have seen many people from my country doing this. Here in my country, when it comes to sports betting, people place multibet bets with very high odds, I've already asked many people here in my country why they keep doing this, and they told me that they want to win very quickly.
Indeed it's very risky and the chances to win are not always great but it's a very interesting way to play. With small stakes you can experiment and see if there's a formula that works.
So let's say you bet a few dollars on 5x stakes every so often. This can be done by combining a a handful of matches if they have decent odds actually. I've found that with premiere league and NBA matches this isn't particularly hard to hit targets. It might be because these leagues have a bit more predictable outcomes due to the teams having reliable performance as well. But also the odds are better due to increased participation.

So there might be a working strategy to do well with this. But I also find it fun, so it's not just about strategy. Having increased odds can be more exciting but also kinds risky too.
371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: World female football. on: February 02, 2024, 11:16:18 PM
~
Well just goes to show how underdeveloped the scene is for them. Or well, not even underdeveloped, just ignored in general with only the bare minimum or so being given. Doesn't help that the men's league is so overwhelmingly big that I highly doubt any sort or form of attracting attention to the female league would immediately die after a couple of weeks.
Ι believe that women's leagues have potential to grow a lot.
It requires some promotion though. Most teams have a women's team also and most places have a local team too. For smaller teams it can even be free to go see the match or just have a very small ticket price.
I honestly appreciate this grassroots support and kinda reminds me of the humble beginnings of association football in Europe.

Ι used to go to women's basketball matches of our local basketball team and the ticket was a meager 2€, usually people would give more out of support though.
Even this small boost gave players a lot of confidence, more joined the team and they achieved a very good result.
With small teams, even a little support can go a long way. Women's football is also very inspiring to young women and girls and definitely a good influence to our youth. Casinos could also extend their influence to doing something positive by supporting women's clubs.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: World female football. on: February 01, 2024, 11:44:21 PM
I kinda watch the women's football world cup on and off sometimes because I find it interesting, but the issue is that it's extremely hard to actually bet on women's football leagues.

Normally as a gambler, you expect odds to be kinda representative of who appears to be more likely to win in a match. However, for anyone that has ever bet on a women's match, you'd realize the hard way that bookmakers simply don't utilize good data on women's leagues and will just give super low odds on both teams winning. I've seen matches where either team's win had odds lower than 2 which is just absurd. It's just not worth to bet on women's leagues at this rate.

And the other thing with women's leagues is that because there's not as much investment and promotion going around, the payment is not as good. Many of the players have to follow a second job and don't have the money to go full pro. As a result the outcomes are often very unexpected. For example, if you were betting on a premiere league match that was 3 - 0, you'd never expect the result to be overturned for the second team to win... However, these great upsets happen very often on women's leagues, exactly because they don't have the resources to be as well organized.

Normally these would be deterrents for a gambler that is used to gambling on major leagues. Unreliable results and bad odds aren't as great. However it's great that women's football is growing. Eventually with more growth these issues should be fixed. Women are already starting to participate and watch sports more. And the viewership overall is increasing. National team matches though are pretty good also as betting opportunities.
373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your multi-bet (paroli) strategy? on: February 01, 2024, 07:22:22 PM
Is it Paroli or Parlay? I've been into gambling for a while now but this is my first reading about Paroli. I checked the definition and it's not the same as what you're saying. It's not anything like multi-bet but it's like the opposite of a martingale betting strategy. You double your bet your wager wins.

I don't often do Parlay or multi-bet. I usually pick the favorite team to lessen the risk and maybe get one underdog in a 5-game multi-bet.

Bookies have also introduced bet builder where you can bet on different lines one the same match or game.

edit - Okay I can see now why it's Paroli. It's like the French or Italian origin of Parlay.
Paroli and Parlay are used to imply the same thing.
I realize now that the countries where this term might be more popular though are Italy and southern Europe.
Basically the Paroli strategy is kind of a reverse martingale strategy. You just take your won money along with your stake and move them over to the next bet.
Usually with sports betting this is done with placing bets on matches where the team you're betting on is likely to win.
So ultimately combining lots of low odds comes up with a high multiplier. But it's also possible to get a high multiplier with combining a few good high odd outcomes.

The bookmakers that have multi-bet slips (I assume most if not all do this these days) means that they apply an automatic paroli strategy for you for matches that can even run at the same time.
Here's the definition for anyone interested:

374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: February 01, 2024, 07:14:00 PM
This weekend seems interesting enough. Some are competitive, along with others that can generally be considered safe-ish. I'll probably be betting on PAOK vs. Atromitos, AEK vs. Asteras Tripolis, and OFI vs. Kifisia. PAOK, AEK, and OFI have shown a much better performance than their competitors, and I'm pretty confident in their winning. I'm only going to be a little worried about OFI vs. Kifisia, but the two first ones seem quite predictable.

Olympiakos vs. Panathinaikos will be a hell of a match, and in my opinion, Olympiakos has more chances of winning, but I'd rather not make such a bet.
Damn, yes, this upcoming matchday is going to feature the Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos match, which is dubbed in Greece as the Derby of the eternal enemies whenever it happens. Grin
It's one of the most famous rivalries in European football so I'm for sure watching that match myself.
It's interesting the odds favor a Panathinaikos win for this match but to me things are not as obvious.
I'd rather wait to bet on the match live to be honest.

For a match I'd gladly take the odds for a bet though, I'm all for betting towards PAOK winning against Atromitos:

To me odds above 1.5 are very good if you're betting on a win for the first team in the league's rankings.

Good luck everyone!
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / What's your multi-bet (paroli) strategy? on: February 01, 2024, 12:06:15 AM
People that gamble in sports will know that grouping your bets in a single slip (often called paroli) is a way to increase the odds on your stake. The massive downside this has is that if you make even a single wrong prediction, your whole stake at the given betting slip is counted as a loss.

The big advantage multi-bets can have is that it can lead to extremely high multipliers even if many bets with small odds are combined.
So I'm wondering if people out there have a certain multi-bet strategy.
For me I'm trying to figure out if there's a good strategy for multi-bets but it's not something that easy.
Good thing is that when playing with high odds, let's say chasing 10x multibets, it's ok to have a losing slip every so often.

If you go for odds that are 10x for instance, if you win more than 1 in 10 times you are still earning more than you're losing. Might sound easy but it's not. Cheesy
Luckily crypto bookmakers allow very small bets so it's easy to experiment.
So, anyone else here playing with multi-bets? Any strategies?
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The scam of FAKE fixed matches on: January 31, 2024, 07:06:04 AM
If I hear of match fixing, I will stop because I have known already that it is a scam.

If it is a telegram bookie, I will stop and delete the scammer from my telegram. I do not gamble on telegram.

We can see some people that wants to try something like this or something similar on this forum, referring us to add them on telegram. From their approach on this forum, you will know that they are scammers.
It's not a telegram bookie.
It's a fully fledged website that looks somewhat realistic, but the "fixed" match advertised by the telegram group is actually not a real match, and no matter how hard you search for it you will always come up to that specific bookmarker website, which happens to be a fake bookmaker.

You will deposit, bet on the exact score given by the telegram group, hit some crazy multiplier when the fake match supposedly finishes... And then you will never be able to withdraw.
It's actually a well polished scam. Some of the team names I looked up were actually real teams, they had just swapped the league and day of the match. For example for a real match of Team A and Team B on a Tuesday they would say
Team A vs. Team B (U23 league) on a Monday. This seems entirely possible as actually sometimes U23 leagues can have similar schedules with regular leagues. But The league they are talking about is actually always nonexistent. But I could even see someone kidna experience falling for this because just by Google searching you can't definitively find out that these teams don't exist.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / The scam of FAKE fixed matches on: January 31, 2024, 06:04:02 AM
This is another form of scam I've seen being promoted heavily.
So if you have even the slightest interest towards sports, you're likely to follow some teams' or atheles' social media accounts.
Instagram tends to freely share your personal information with "advertisers" which often just means scammers.
So this scam is often targeting sports fans through Instagram and Facebook.
And if you or your friends follow something related to gambling or sports you're likely to be targeted by such ads promoting this scam.

So let's examine what this scam is about.
If you click into an ad promoting this type of scam, you'll be prompted into a Telegram channel where supposedly information about fixed matches is provided.
As you probably already know, scammers love telegram.
The room will be populated with a long history of highly polished messages about supposed information and past success stories.
However, what matters most is the most recent message in the channel.
This message will mention the exact score of a supposed fixed match.

What's the catch?
Well... This match doesn't exist. Perhaps the teams will sound a little plausible, but then they will say [U23], which means that you can't bet on such a match anywhere.
The whole allure of this scam is to actually put your money in THEIR recommended bookmaker because it's going to be the only one accepting bets on this otherwise fictional match.
And then you'll be met with the harsh reality that this bookmaker only actually takes deposits, no withdrawals!

The above is a rating someone left for this fake bookmaker called SpaceXlife. It appears that this scam operation has been running for 2 months.
Probably once the scammers feel like they've made enough they'll just switch to a new name and website.

All this might sound too obvious to you but people unaccustomed to online gambling could easily fall victim to something like this.
It's sad how social media has made the process of scamming so streamlined actually...
378  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s Debt-to-GDP Ratio Rises a Record of 286.1% on: January 30, 2024, 03:27:02 PM
Evegrande and the entire Chinese real estate boom was a very large deviation from what a centrally planned economy would look like.
~
If China had proper central planing for housing there would be no need for a market-based approach to this issue, which is essentially the root cause to tis issue.

Obviously with Evergrande the Chinese gov sidestepped its own foundational principles as a supposedly socialist government.
There's an important asterisk here however. Ever since Deng Xiaoping, the liberalization of policies has allowed for many free market elements to start affecting the daily life of Chinese people.

There are many voices in China, but mostly also abroad, that highlight how China is straying too far from the benefits of planning parts of an economy for the greater good.
So while Evergrande at least to some extent might have been working in cooperation with the Chinese government, it was still acting as a private for profit corporation and there was not even the possibility of enough oversight from the state to prevent them.

It's important to understand that profit and growth driven investment are the only factors that create incentives to build homes where no one wants to live in.
In countries where state subsidies exist for housing quite the opposite actually happens, there's more demand than supply and the state gets overwhelmed with reviewing requests unless they dedicate more resources to this effort.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Confusion About Insider Gambling on: January 30, 2024, 02:08:20 PM
There are certain news that don't make it to reporters prior to a match starting. For instance, everyone might be expecting the team to start with a certain set of players or use certain players for most of the match.
But for instance a player might be immediately substituted out of a match in a surprise move. This might be part of a strategy that the coach wasn't willing to reveal.

It actually happens very often. Only the coach and a handful of people within the team know this strategy. Ofc this might affect a team's odds to win as it will affect the match.
For sure fair play means that each time a team plays they should put their best efforts to win, but for instance, substitutions, injuries and strategies like keeping certain players relaxed for more important matches are still a thing and could make things worse or better for a team at a certain match.

This is different from match fixing as the team still puts efforts towards achieving the best result, but not with its best players perhaps.
380  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s Debt-to-GDP Ratio Rises a Record of 286.1% on: January 30, 2024, 02:04:12 PM
China is doing better in some economic aspects due to the very fact that they have central planning and can plan big parts of the economy bssed on national interests instead of short term profits of individuals.

Yeah:
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-67562522

Perfect central planning
Quote
The firm has been the poster child of China's real estate crisis with more than $300bn (£236bn) of debt.

1.5 million houses for which people have already paid for which there is no money to finish them and 600 000 sold houses that are just on paper with not one brick laid and for which Chinese buyers are already indebt and paying mortgages worth everywhere between another 60 billion and 120 billion!
Yup, definitely thinking of the national interest!

But I have no doubt Franky will come here and tell US that debt that can't be paid back is even better than debt that grows the GDP, because ...reasons!
It's interesting that while China is an economy that still follows central planing to a large extent, they do allow many free-market aspects into their economy.
Evergrande for instance, was a firm very much based on free market competition and received a lot of funding originating from western big money firms.

Evegrande and the entire Chinese real estate boom was a very large deviation from what a centrally planned economy would look like. For sure it created many jobs and kind of a gold rush for home manufacturing firms and investors, but it also created a bubble. For one, the government was either unable or unwilling to monitor what the portfolio of real estate assets by a company as large as Evergrande consisted of. It's true that many of these housing estates will remain unfinished and uninhabited.

But we have to think about some fundamentals before judging what to criticize here. What drove Evergrande to project infinite growth even past the point where people weren't moving in to their newly constructed apartments (and TOWNS!)? Wasn't it profit and chasing growth-oriented investors? If China had proper central planing for housing there would be no need for a market-based approach to this issue, which is essentially the root cause to tis issue.
