361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino companies' responsibilities to rehabilitation institutions on: June 10, 2024, 07:47:35 PM
If casinos were taxed fairly then the state would have enough money to take care of any addicted persons that needs help.

The big issue with taxation is that it is inherently unfair. Your tax rate as a working man would be 70% or something if you have the same income as a casino and it's taxed regardless of expenses. Casinos have business tax rates at 25% or lower even and generally can also count in expenses to reduce taxation. But it's not just casinos, it's the whole system. Things could change for the better if only we had some honest politicians. But that's not very realistic to think about in most countries. They're just crooks ready to serve the system but not the people.
362  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's big promises on: June 09, 2024, 09:32:45 PM
Trump has made a ton of promised and didn't mind to keep most of them but sith crypto and his promises on the matter I truly tend to believe that with some of them he will be honest to some extent because quick profit and de regulation, especially to serve large interests fit his style well.

So trump might as well de regulate crypto but this again would open up holes in consumer safety that allowed FTX to collapse in the first place. Not that Biden was better, but now it might become even worse.
363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Odds discussion) Would you still stick in your favorite casino if....? on: June 09, 2024, 09:21:57 PM
If it is assumed that the odds difference is based on the casino sites but on the same games and same risk on determining your winning predictions, only one thing would be involved in such circumstances which is going for a reputable casino that would not stress you at your  cashing out private time.
Most times bettors are trapped on sites with an opening of bigger odds.
This is a true point because a casino not respecting its reputation would be negligent enough to scam certain users out of their winning or deposits.

Also though, those that wagger a lot of money on sports would benefit a lot from having better odds. Certain bettors will routinely search for the best odds also when making a prediction. So it really depends on how competitive one wants to be. In reality it's a different play style if someone wants to relax or look into the technicals.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is web3 casino the new trend for casinos? on: June 09, 2024, 09:18:12 PM
Web3 is surely a trend but it introduces attack vectors and issues that are so much more easily solved under s trust based model.
Fully decentralized platform are not capable of allowing flexibility of transactions whereas in a centralized system it's very much none to berry little resource intensive to run your gambling tasks on a server.

So the mere inefficiency is a large cost factor that prevents many from going into web in general,
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Team strength as the main predictor. on: June 09, 2024, 09:03:48 PM
It's quite often to see great upsets in sports. Olympiakos winning the conference league was also something that upset many teams that were generally considered a serious contender and grater performing teams just overall.

Just like when Greece won the 2004 euro when nobody was even expecting it. Probably grest cosching along with good counter strategies can win a lot in football.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Odds discussion) Would you still stick in your favorite casino if....? on: June 08, 2024, 11:56:21 PM
For those that spend most or all of their gambling balances on sports then yes odds are everything. Most crypto sports books are just mirroring odds of other sites or bookie providers but with some odds worsened to account for their profit plus also crypto conversion and operation costs that might be a little higher.

So I would expect odds to be lower. But playing with crypto adds a lot of convenience so I don't look at they ususlly.
367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: June 08, 2024, 10:23:55 PM
I think this election will be very unpredictable. Gambler's favor a trump election however every single big channel except fox news will say the opposite and do it's best to ridicule trump.

It's such a weird dichotomy. However I think the shaky economy and questionable jobs market that had affected many peoples livelihoods is something especially bad for Biden. The Biden administration has allegedly done some quite shady things to skew statistics in their favor but people aren't really eating it up. So all these factor might have actually made people angry at him, something that doesn't combine well with how one sided the media can be also.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Religious leader barred from casinos because of big wins. on: June 07, 2024, 09:14:03 PM
This has to be a joke right?

How could a large establishment like a casino go bankrupt with an amount at the level of USD 30k? I know this is not the US but still. There's a base level of operating a business as large anywhere.
I believe this would probably be a publicity stunt by the priest to gain followers. Apparently prosperity preachers are a big thing with new wave christianity. These preachers have completely done away with teaching original Jesus' preachings of being humble and about how riches are a mortal sin, to going overboard saying if you pray you'll become wealthy and the poor deserve to be poor because they're not good men or some shit like that.

There's a funny comic about this called supply side jesus. Read it, you'll remember me.

I really hope this type of Christianity stops branching out to Africa because it's really quite destructive. Now even promoting gambling. God knows what they're gonna be up to next.
369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you lost the money that you where supposed to withdraw from online casino? on: June 07, 2024, 08:52:52 PM
Of course it can happen very easily and I'd lie if I said it hadn't happened to me. But rather than supposed, I'd say it was money that I wanted to withdraw. Thanks for me I haven't been playing with money I can't afford to lose. So when I lost a balance I was looking at withdrawing, I just replaced it when I needed money with cash from my bank.

I think really most people should apply this principle when gambling. Otherwise without such limits it's hard to avoid hard and uncomfortable situations.
370  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's big promises on: June 07, 2024, 08:50:44 PM
Funny, in the light of a potential Biden second term, Coinbase's CEO started a campaign called "Stand with crypto"...

Supposedly this is a collective effort to pressure the government to be more lenient on crypto and the regulation surrounding corporations in the space. Here it is:
https://www.standwithcrypto.org/

Interestingly this has not been received well because Coinbase did not even bother to put in place any checks of humanity and the number shown is likely vastly exaggerated due to that. So the campaign has been relentlessly mocked and likely falls flat on its face in convincing anyone.
Like for example see below:
https://x.com/Bitfinexed/status/1799169174134263937

I doubt Biden is gonna take this particular campaign seriously. But he's well aware of the money and interests in crypto and surely might try to pander them a bit. All until enacting anti-mining regulation post election. So probably big crypto interests are gonna go with supporting a trump vote this election.
371  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is getting addicted to gambling right or wrong? on: June 06, 2024, 08:59:05 PM
How can addiction be "right"? It's not a good thing, it leads to unfortunate and miserable situations. People being non functional and failing to complete even their own goals is a bad thing for sure.

I'd go as far as to say that it should also be part of our collective responsibility to support institutions that are doing their best to help addicted persons be able to step out of addiction. For sure it is something good to be able to step out of situations that hold you back but we sometimes do very little to give opportunities to people that most need it. Many developed countries to these days lack institutions that can really do outreach and help addicted persons. In that sense part of the "wrong" is with the entire society and not just those addicted themselves.
372  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FTX will repay everybody 118% back on: June 06, 2024, 08:42:17 PM
If you count the extremely low ball estimation of account values in dollars then yes, FTX is overpaying. This is part of the US bankruptcy fraud system and how it was never built to handle equity over dollars. Dollars are completely worthless compared to how much people would have had even if they were paid a fraction of their crypto today. In fact, everyone was holding expecting a price surge like the one experienced at the moment. However anyone who had deposited crypto into FTX got badly burned. This "over 100%" claim just adds insult to injury.
373  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Eligius pool is back under the new name Ocean on: June 05, 2024, 08:51:32 PM
The thing is, it's not just Luke. If Luke had woken up one day and said he'll start pursuing 300KB blocks then I'd be like ok. He's crazy. But there's a band of people supporting what he says. Well, if he continues down this path fewer and fewer people are likely to support him, it has already started looking like a cult...

For instance, here's OCEAN's "Bitcoin mechanic" saying he ran Bitcoin in a raspberry pi in under 16 hours syncing: https://x.com/GrassFedBitcoin/status/1798244375690088829... Yet in his Twitter name he has "300KB". It just seems like crazy talk at this point.
374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is a fun activity but it has some potential to be profitable sometimes on: June 05, 2024, 08:45:21 PM
That's a mindset I can kinda stand behind.
Of course there is a chance to win in gambling but it shouldn't be seen as something realistic.

Have fun, pursue passing some time, your goal should be to stay and not go bust immediately taking stupid risks. At least if you are after fun. You will be having a good time and if you win it's an added bonus.
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can soccer players collaborate with gamblers to help them win there bet? on: June 04, 2024, 09:00:44 PM
So good that they caught this guy. What he did was highly unethical and if true at least he should admit it. If it is proven without his admission, ban him from A leagues for his career. If he admits it give him a fine and a 1.5 year ban or something.

But if it can't be proven then I don't know. For something an individual does without other organization then it's hard to prove because there's no big movement behind such incidents. Good on the association for utilizing sources and acting quickly though. In many other countries this would have been burried. But the quick action gives faith in the fairness of a league.
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling increases computer education. on: June 04, 2024, 08:56:48 PM
I don't think people here understand what education is supposed to mean. Education is acquired knowledge that can be built upon and taught to others.

Gambling does not require education. It rather requires some skills such as how to use a phone with smart festures, at best an email also. These things are so common these days that anyone can do them. Even in some occasions as a farm worker and hard ksbourer you have to fill in paperwork. So it's nonsense to me to claim that gambling helps education. Let's not pretend this is true. If we want gambling to help actual education suggest to your favorite sites to build something like an education fund for building schools and hiring teachers. But it's probably not happening.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you understand entertainment? on: June 03, 2024, 06:16:10 PM
Gambling IS a form of entertainment. Albeit, perhaps one of the most expensive ones if you count it by money spend by time.

It's kinda crazy actually if you calculate it this way. Video games are cheaper than even movies or just drinking because even an expensive 60 USD game will get you hundreds of hours of gameplay. So really if you play gambling just to pass time even with the minimums, over time you keep loosing amounts that if you look at them aren't insignificant. Unless of course your income can comfortably support it.
But also many people could greatly benefit financially from cutting gambling. Many people take too late to consider it sadly.
378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you ignore/resist cheating to secure a winning bet? on: June 03, 2024, 04:39:19 PM
There aren't as many sure bets reslly. If they exist for even a second then someone jumps on and sweeps the extra odds for ptofiit. Now thinking about it, it's not realistic to expect gambling for profit because it's rather obvious that casinos need to make profit on betting also. In fact if you calculate the house edge with the same method on sprouts bets, the edge for the casino is even higher. Well, it's a weird fact but many people ignore it.

As of actual cheating, an ethical penetration tester would disclose the blissue if it's exploitable. Casinos should create incentives for those funding critical bugs to get rewarded. This way it's easier to make some easy clean money ethically, rather that the casino losing thousands.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there a legal jurisdiction backing up gamblers against the casino oppression? on: June 03, 2024, 04:30:38 PM
If you are that afraid against casinos stealing from you then you can try some casino licensed in your country.

This way you could file a report against them and even take them to court with better chances to achieve something. The reasons most crypto casinos avoid licenses everywhere is because they can also avoid liability if they have no one in a specofoc country. Or they might just get a license in a very remote country where even if you wanted to, would be very inconvenient to pursue a case in their justice system.

But with trusted crypto casinos this isn't an issue. Yes trust is important here because while of course some casinos have done their gambler's dirty, there's a handful of ones that run for years without serious issues ever. If you see a casino doing its best to make everyone right then this is what you should prefer over a license. If a licensed casino want to chest you they will do it anyway.
