981  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: September 17, 2023, 11:59:05 PM
Russia in theory could ask Cuba how to survive for decades isolated from the world and manage anyway.   The scenario where Russia carries on with its economy regardless is more then viable its just we dont think they will do as well in isolation, of course trade will carry on but in some impaired way.  Even in oil and gas which is their strong point and in demand, Russia lacks proper development & efficiency that would come from involvement internationally to improve all their assets; same is true of many countries like Iraq has failed to invest in its oil fields for decades and they are worse off from that failure in efficiency.    Some commodity projects can take an entire decade to start and establish, this war is destroying their ability to start what is already overdue in addition to other failures the list must be enough to fill a book by now.
I do think Russia loses far more then it could have gained from any success in this war, I'd say the same of almost any country its better to do plain business then kill and hope for profit from destruction.  Only a singularly small minded person would think otherwise, for an entire nation a giant country growing in size like Russia its definitely true they are far worse off as a people with war , death and waste.  There was no need to conqueror any country when they are already seeing large land gains from the permafrost melting, thats a giant change and they already lack the people, resources, creative companies to make the most of that.
982  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach all-time-high before halving. - BitQuant on: September 17, 2023, 11:48:17 PM
Far too rushed, I think its unlikely.  If we remember what happened last halving, events took an unexpected turn downwards.  Even after a recovery the progress was slow and BTC price action was not bullish at all.  People like to presume but its not happened yet, theres no indication of this trend but there is the presumption that an event which has greatly declined in importance on every iteration will this time be like a rocket ship and alter our trajectory beyond any normal expectation.
I think stair steps higher is far more likely and you can see a proper bullish trend being built before, during it happening its far more confident and widely seen then out of a nowhere rise; a really good trend is confirmed by every time zone and ideally country along the way never just a few.
983  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free spins are also a demo in disguise? on: September 17, 2023, 10:25:23 PM
I got free spins enough to recycle and withdraw a sizeable amount without needing to deposit even.  It was a requirement to continually play over the free bet amount till I had credited my account with the activity amount necessary to withdraw but some offers are good enough to take home and bank if you are lucky.   Usually its just a starter amount to increase your normal deposit but sometimes it can turn out to be a total win all by itself.  That did happen for me at least once, obviously it wont be often sadly.
984  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: September 17, 2023, 07:41:42 PM
Honestly I would rather bet on Chris Christie, he has recognition nationally not just locally but maybe not for the right reasons.  Half the fight is getting people to actually know who you are and then know the message generally you are trying to sell them for votes.   Trump of course had a head start in that respect for being on TV, now you cant get away from it.  Even if people disagree with a candidate at this point I would go off actual recognition for odds prospects.
Vivek G. Ramaswamy  is very young and still just an unknown unrecognized candidate, particularly the message isnt registering right or wrong thats probably the lay of the land for him currently.  I would swap those two comparatively in order of preference for where I think the odds can end up.    Do I think Vivek is the next Obama in terms of coming out of nowhere at a young age, really no but I think he is wanting to take a position in the administration of whoever does win and this explains why many of these people are running.
985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be a boom again? on: September 17, 2023, 12:32:44 AM
Point is BTC isnt a fixed protocol, it can adapt and include new things that would become useful if the blockchain should decide its in the best common interest.   So the idea of alt coins and leaving BTC is controversial and negative to some because you are assuming BTC has made a mistake and greater things are possible elsewhere.    I dont mind alt coins, I like to think proof of stake could work because it seems more inclusive but its not yet sure exactly.
There will be another cycle to BTC so long as there is demand because supply is contracting, alot of the supply was from the last peak unwinding and somehow people being surprised the price will not always go up.   The time scale for BTC is surprisingly long, we keep trying to guess the daily and weekly price when perhaps nothing below a quarterly bar really matters that much for true progression in price action.
986  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 16, 2023, 10:58:25 PM
BTC used to more bound to its own economy when it still involved many home miners and a fairly small scale digital economy.  Basically gambling and other small sites using BTC, but since then its come away from that isolated market flow and mining BTC personally is not half as common since it went over to ASIC.
Having said that, the main markets are not especially negative or challenged.  We'd be booming in BTC imo if only the dollar index were to lose 100 on the dxy but it failed to beat that level, the higher rates are having some effect in retaining that level .   I think its temporary and we do find easier progress.
987  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 16, 2023, 09:27:42 PM
Not secret but not broadcast either, its nobodys business but your own really much like many activities.   IF you mean secret from your family especially your wife who you split finances from then yea I would prefer not to have to do that but I understand if many people do avoid that aggravation if its not really needed to do.   The only real reason you have to disclose gambling is when you fail to control or  balance your finances then likely its problem for you and everyone around you unfortunately.
988  Economy / Speculation / Re: Michael Saylor predicts Bitcoin can go to $5 million? on: September 16, 2023, 05:02:34 PM
$5m I see as something ironic, it would in the majority represent failure.   Hopefully  not of BTC itself but somehow a price rising that far within our life times at least, thats too rapid and somewhere something big went wrong.   Presumably there contains a scenario in dollar or euros or Yen or their system of sovereign debt (China?) had failed at that point, this isn't fantastical it can happen but we should not hope for it.
989  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will ETFs pump BTC to $100k soon? on: September 16, 2023, 01:48:08 PM
Soon is a four letter word, it should be classed as a swear word its misused so often.   Soon could be the other side 2025 I suppose, we dont know would be most accurate to say.
That leaves us with speculation and those events we do know, obviously halvening next year.   So my basic take would still despite hopes and dreams our trajectory and momentum in BTC price action is such that 2025 is a far more likely a landing spot for genuine transformative price gains in BTC and we dont know that occurs at all yet, maybe.

Legally BTC isnt money so I do wonder on the basis for banning a website purely based off swapping about Bitcoin just off numbers games and similar.   They dont ban baseball card collector sites, the original big BTC site was all about swapping magic the gathering cards.  People value and do sell all those things but its not restricted because you are allowed to own personal items in most parts of the world.  Why would a VPN be required for a basic harmless site, pretty weak but I dont deny that will be the attitude to some parts of the world; site loads like any other where Iam thankfully.
991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 15, 2023, 10:43:08 PM
People act like if without enough money the bet no longer exists.  It exists in the game and risk continues just your reward for the bet will be far less but you can still bet and be involved no matter what the level of value placed on the bet.  Depends where your enjoyment lies, if you purely are looking to double your money and not play the game then sure nothing more left to gamble on the game means you are mostly spending time only not really any money but I usually play for the game or to progress the game in some way I wouldnt enjoy it otherwise.

Just use more then one browser, no law against it and can be useful for isolating a cookie from search engines or you can clear one browser to test a site without upsetting every other site which is otherwise working fine for you.  Plus some browsers will have some variation, its not as true as it once was but some sites prefer one browser over another. Ideally you have at least one spare browser setup where you can totally reset it whenever needed to clear out any erroneous settings.
993  Economy / Economics / Re: What has really been behind china's economy on: September 14, 2023, 11:59:15 PM
China exports in the majority, maybe its comparable to somewhere like Germany or Japan some country led by global demand.   The determining factor is efficiency and China has alot to gain still from moving away from its quite retro agrarian style economy that didn't employ machinery till fairly recently.  They have moved a great distance in just twenty years so far.  Other things like the large building programs seem quite a failure in comparison, corrupt and badly done in many cases so theres alot to learn still.    Just the industrialization of their farming despite many challenges has been massive, its visible on sat images just how massive the alterations are.
994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: September 14, 2023, 11:52:05 PM
Electoral college is the basis of the union, I doubt it will be altered any time soon.   Democracy is not purely highest votes wins, that system of indirect representation is true in many countries.   The belief in a system of votes only would be described under direct democracy perhaps where its always just down to the most votes in any decision to decide how it should proceed.  I think with modern technology that prospect might actually occur in some country but surprisingly its not the best perhaps as citizens will not always recognize all the details apparent in the various bills up for vote.
I dont see USA as switching to purely popular vote only, its an attractive argument on the surface but it would be alongside something opposite such as states leaving the union thats how I view the scale of the change and hence unlikely imo.  Quite obviously near term the Republican party would be against it, theres no consensus for such an action.   It wont alter the voting or prospective bets this decade imo and I dont think any of the candidates include it within their platform to run under so far as Ive read so far.
995  Economy / Economics / Re: for anyone interested in how much their personal data is worth on: September 14, 2023, 10:56:13 PM
There are search engines which claim not to sell or record your data, search history and other methods to build up virtual profiles on yourself online to sell.  Duckduckgo is the biggest one I know of but must be others, I guess they just aim to sell general advertising and privacy is probably quite important motivation to many especially on health and finance concerns to search on.
The flip side would be signing up for points and gaining something on every search, I think Microsoft is probably most generous on that.   Some kind of daily questionnaire I think they sponsor some points and in time reward for regularly using their products, search engine and browser.   I mostly use them to check spelling, I dont mind if they record my bad spelling really its pretty random.

Facebook is well known to be one of the biggest, most profitable enterprises and they for sure sell data on people and yet most of that data is submitted voluntarily.  I avoid using real accurate data unless I have to.  I should get a source & I will look but Ive read prior that apparently they at times have used voice recognition to search your voice for commercial data records (mostly to retail or advertising) where possible, I can believe that though it seems extreme.   Test it if you like, say a specific brand name you never use or like (that has a big budget) and see if that advert pops up later.

US gov said recently Google is spending over a billion to advance its own search engine    Again surprising they need to do so -  https://www.irishtimes.com/business/2023/09/12/us-says-google-pays-10bn-a-year-to-maintain-search-dominance/

I saw a news update this morning that court have finally granted FTX the permission to liquidate the crypto assets they hold..

Its capped to 100m per weekly and total inventory of 650m BTC.  Apparently they had a larger percentage holding of other blockchains who perhaps should be worried.  Does BTC really care about a holding moving from one inventory to another, its local weakness perhaps but I thought BTC was a bit bigger then this.  We have bigger things to worry about then the already known FTX problem.  Thats my take anyway and the market itself does not appear to care too much.   Im not going to switch negative off that news anyhow.
However we are top of the range now, just the last 3 weeks of range but its often best to presume we stay within a fenced area as it were to price movement not expecting anything new without especially warranted indication of such a thing.  Mostly main market was positive and so BTC was enabled positively is my brief view.   Not sure that correlates out any further to be relevant to end of month bet just yet, I remain uncertain tbh.
I'll stick to the plan simple as it was, observe contact around 50 day average its a falling star its going to collide soon enough.  When 50 DMA fell below 200 DMA in 2022 it didnt emerge again for over a year, quite harsh so I guess its fair indicator and this friction should illuminate our situation with some sparks.
997  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 14, 2023, 07:34:59 PM
Awful time to sell but its always personal because you might just need the money.  Presuming you are able then you dont sell here you hold and ideally you add some on the basis that over time the situation is improving.  The price is almost an irreverent variable, whatever price is there is less important then purely the continuation and progression of BTC to greater things simple as that.   Same goes for any product, sector, commodity, choose something which gains value which is good in position for demand vs supply.
Speculation is secondary sometimes profitable juggling done by some but its not a requirement, if your base case is sell or hold absolutely all then you dont sell all so long as you agree this market is valid and improving.
Forget price its the end result of a thousand cogs and gears but main deal to me always has been the machine is continuing its work and price is just a label, its a skin deep guess by the market to enable bid and orders on that particular day.
998  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: September 13, 2023, 11:59:44 PM
Gambling and funerals are constant revenue, that's your most useful sector of business in any economy any country if you want to state the most useful purpose in society its something which never changes regardless of other impediments in the economy.  People will always gamble just like you will always have revenue from inheritance taxes and a couple other things like tobacco and alcohol.
Money lost in tax income has to be replaced by debt bond issuance to questionable markets, hence how dangerous fiscal imbalance can become to the health of a nation and Gambling becomes the hero to pay the bills in the dark hours, ironic but there it is the shining beacon  Cool
None of these vices should be stated as a path to riches on a personal level but as representative in an economy, all are steady never declining revenue industries.  The only other sector I can think of which rarely sees demand destruction is education, if you have a job in that sector you should also be safer then many others are.  Coal mining and oil used to be fairly reliable but both have been become squeezed by a variety of energy sources like gas and now solar wind etc.
999  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Crash may take bitcoin to 1M dollar on: September 13, 2023, 11:08:45 PM
It cant go forever because it will destroy the society which powers it so its self defeating but certainly it can go generations like Japan has shown.   Depends what depth of stupid poltics is entrenched into society, my take on Japan as an outsider is its misplaced loyalty and belief that government can self right itself.  The currency does seem very likely to require a big reset and start over basically, not all debts will honored and inflation is an illusion that only appears to repay value lent.
1000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: September 13, 2023, 08:59:13 PM
Soon as I get my first Lambo  Cool I would start acting more sensible from that point on the basis I know have more to lose by not being cautious then otherwise before.   Actually getting to the point of being that rich is unlikely but still possible if you consider lottery type wins, over the course of your life sooner or later it can occur.   Once you have the win dont presume you will always be as lucky and be more cautious from that point on seems fair enough and grateful.
