exactly what is ocminer breaking here? ... nothing? ...

thats what i thought too ...

if ocminer really WAS breaking any arrangement with the GPL - or whatever licence - you would have FOSS on his ass in no time ...

ocminer - keep up the good work mate ... ill wait Smiley ...

#crysx

thanks !

btw the source is now on github Smiley

no worries ...

github address please? ...

does this mean that we just need to compile and start to mine? ... or is there something else we need to do beforehand? ...

been waiting to test mining on your pool mate Smiley ...

#crysx
No, it means that You still have to use closed binaries and trust the person that releases them. Because You can't get key in visible form and compile source by yourself. If You do, You could rip off "pool" anytime. Or being ripped off from other "pool" miner.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) | Testing New Masternodes on: March 30, 2015, 09:04:48 AM

Lol talking about "copyright" rules in crypto is kinda ridiculous but the source is on my github, i just need to remove the crypto key used for the encryption to the pool and make it public. Dont worry, soon.
I'm not laughing. You are laughing to people that invested tremendous time and effort to bring crypto currency world to the point of being usable and practical for everyone. You are breaking rules that crypto currency world is based on. You have to change the way your crypto key is inserted into code, because if you publish source that is not compiling towards published binaries you will again break rules.

Incorrect, crypto keys are of course NOT under GPL, only the source itself.

I am releasing my mods to the source - WITHOUT the crypto keys so that everyone, also other pools, can start own projects/pools by using own - new keys.

BTW maybe you should talk to the "devs" that compile and relase binary-only version of (faster) miners with forced donation or even those who sell pre-compiled binaries etc ? GPL mainly wants to prevent you make any money with public code - I'm not and never did. :-) (No, the Pool is 0% fee)

I see your point, and I agree by releasing the source - I never intended to NOT to but you're fighting against the wrong person here - it's a public project - just take a look at my github, there is lots of stuff already.

Devs that are NOT PUBLISHING their own forks, but are selling them are not breaking GPL rules. Believe it or not. So, fight is legitimate, person is  not wrong. If You send binaries to one that asks for them, everything is OK. If You publish them, as you did - GPL rules are broken. Glad to hear that you published source.

DRK miner, here  Smiley

I like some of the ideas you have for masternodes. I would like to mine for a while.

I downloaded 64bit win wallet. I got a spreadcoin gpu miner for AMD.

Need a guide, please to get the sgminer built for spreadcoin working. the github guide says use the start.bat. It doesn't exist.

is there an example of a bat file?  I got the spreadcoin.conf done ok, i think.

Anything help files with images that exists?

If you'd like on a pool, look here:

https://spr.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=gettingstarted

Still breaking GPL rules?

Updated the links on the SPR pool in case someone wants to mine
Looks like I have to repeat the question every 10 pages:
Did You published source code for Your "pool miner"? Anyone successfully compiled from source? If not than any one full enough to run closed binaries should go after cointellect "miner". Pays at least 10 times more than your "pool miner"...

The miners are fully based on the normal source, there is just a encryption key within the code which encrypts communication between miner and pool - so yes - the source is fully available, just without the key Smiley

Yeah. Sure. If You say so... I believe cointellect guys will tell me the same. Based on "normal source". And only "something" within the code. Additionaly breaking open source code rules...

Actually, his description doesn't violate the GPL at all. I'd like to see this available source code, as I'm somewhat interested.

I don't know about descriptions that violate or not, bug his acting does violate. Releasing binaries based on changed GPL code without publishing source code is violating GPL. If he keeps binaries compiled from changed GPL source code for himself, than everything is OK. But he is releasing them for public use without source, so...

Does the GPL require that source code of modified versions be posted to the public? (#GPLRequireSourcePostedPublic)
The GPL does not require you to release your modified version, or any part of it. You are free to make modifications and use them privately, without ever releasing them. This applies to organizations (including companies), too; an organization can make a modified version and use it internally without ever releasing it outside the organization.

But if you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program's users, under the GPL.

Thus, the GPL gives permission to release the modified program in certain ways, and not in other ways; but the decision of whether to release it is up to you.

Terabox is not responsive. No answer to contact forms, not possible to payout anything from balance, even not possible to buy contract from the balance. Useless numbers changing without any meaning. I bought very small contract just to check. Check didn't pass. Feel lucky about...  Cool

My pool is still not listed and the title says still "no pools" etc..

Did You published source code for Your "pool miner"? Anyone successfully compiled from source? If not than it should be stated "no pools with open source miners".

Thank you for replying, but I want to retain 13.x drivers for the system.  The on-board GPU will not run on anything higher.  I have read posts about installing 14.x drivers "in the mining directory"' and for the purpose of compiling and running the miner.

The on-board GPU will be used for the monitor, not for mining.  The hot 14.x drivers will only be used for compiling and running the miner.  I am running Ubuntu Linux 14.04.  I imagine that a creative PATH environment variable is involved.

UNLESS, you mean that Wolf's *.bin file can be used with my required 13.x drivers.  If that is the case, I'll do just that.  I suspect that some posters may be referring to the *.bin "binary" file as a "driver".

Again, thanks for the response.  I hope someone can point me to the solution.       --scryptr

You should only unpack (without installation) wanted version of drivers installation package and copy only two OpenCL files from that package into sgminer directory:
amd_opencl32.dll or amd_opencl64.dll (if the miner is x64)
amdocl.dll or amdocl64.dll (if the miner is x64)

Why share bins? Anyone with the same driver version, settings, and OS should get (roughly) the same results.

To spare time needed going to known bad hashing driver 14.9 just to compile bin and roll back.

In order of spreading the spreadcoin mining I'll publish the .bin I got running spreadminer on my kids Cape Verde 8850 notebook graphics card:

https://mega.co.nz/#!S8420JAS!rmdPN1dK-xzieRjz6Ez8Gqb0p0IcMKnswlaJtEx1nMo

Not a stellar performance though. Less than 500Kh/s with 825/1100 gpu/mem clock. Please everyone spread/share bins... Wink
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Grrrr. So Close, I can taste it. HELP: LKETC USB miner on Pi or Mac.... on: January 24, 2015, 11:46:56 AM
Hi there;

I am new to bitcoin mining, but pretty good with technology as a whole.  As a Father/Son project, I recently purchased a couple of USB LiteCoin Scrypt miners (I bought them here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-hot-selling-litecoin-USB-miner-220kH-s-scrypt-miner-Litcoin-miner-send-out-in/2019121334.html ).  These have some drivers on them - they came with the Miner and are all Windows based (or so they seem) - but I am strictly a Mac / Pi user.

I found the site that had alternative drivers for Mac at this site : https://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx   And they look identical in form to the Window Drivers I received on the miner - so I think these Mac versions should work.

So, I need some help in determining how to connect these Miners to a Mac.  I am so close, I can taste it. Huh

I use BFGMINER and I am pretty sure the drivers have been loaded correctly, but no matter what I try, I cannot see the devices - nor can BFGMINER run with them attached.

If you've got a play-by-play of what I should do -I warmly welcome your help!!
I am happy to abandon the Mac idea if you've got a viable route using a Pi !!!

Can someone help me?
Many thanks in advance.....

I asked the seller to provide source of the cgminer executable they provide with the stick, but got nothing than recommendation to use supplied programs. Seems that without source there is no way of using them on other platforms. I succeded using them with CGwatcher and supplied Cgminer instead their windows wrap-up, only on Windows. You can try contacting manufacturer asking for source, because they are obliged publishing source code for Cgminer variant.

I think spreading the spreadcoin mining will be of help if someone post prepared bins for different cards (pitcairn, bonaire, hawaii,...) Installing known bad driver version just to compile bin and than returning back is something that is not spreading good enough...
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Use two different Workers to Mine on a same GPU on: January 16, 2015, 09:38:54 PM
Hello, how should my .bat file look like if I want to use have two workers from the same pool mine on one GPU?

I am using Coinking.io as a pool therefore I would like a worker to mine on the Multipool and the other a specific coin.

Thank you in advance.

If Your GPU is AMD you should use load balance feature for two pools, if Nvidia than you will have to start two instances of same miner.

These calculations are approximate I think.  If one redoes the calculation with 40 years (instead of 1) it would give a probability greater than 1 (impossibe) - and as we know the probability is less than 1.

What's wrong with winning 2 or 3 times of 25BTC during long time period? I mean loooooong, if difficulty is rising... Did I heard somewhere that BTC difficulty started falling?
