Sorry if this was answered before, but do you provide hosting for BabyJets?
I can't receive any shipments from the end of October and for 2 months, that's why I upgraded to hosting with KnC. And would need hosting from HF if I were to diversify.

We are working on this, but don't yet have a solution in place.

That's all I can ask for Smiley

Alright cool. 1.5k for board/rig minus the chip. You heard it here first ladies and gents :-P

I didn't mention any assembly so I'm assuming that's not taken into account.

1.5k + assembly + delivery = Your answer

I think you'll be happy with the details when we release them.

How much would the board/rig cost anyway minus the chip? You should have some figures already in mind.

1k? 2k? 3k?

It'll be towards the low end of your spectrum.

That sounds not too bad if we don't make ROI with initial machine. So we can just send you some money (board/assemble/shipping) and the chip is included free.

Correct.

And another question. These boards for the propose MPP chips. I believe they are 3rd party? As in you don't want to do anything with it right? You just ship us the chips and we do whatever we want with it?

Okay what if there are no willing board makers/3rd party for your chip? What then?

God also hope these 3rd parties don't have delays  Shocked

We are talking to 3rd parties about making boards, and we will be selling them as well.

As a Group Buy Coordinator of 1 co-op owned HashFast BabyJet, I am pleased with the terms and conditions of your MPP. I like the transparency and level of detail.

It should serve as a model for future ASIC rig pre-orders IMO. Anything you can add about the Motherboard specs/availability and institutional pricing for said Mommy boards? [IT Birds N Bees - "See son: "Baby computers are made when a Daddy board and a Mommy board fall in love and..."]

Could be an entrepreneurial opportunity there for someone.  Wink

Thanks!

Details are going to have to wait until after tapeout. (Engineering is busy right now)
However, we want to encourage others to design rigs for our chips and we are excited about what this community will do with them!

In your example, we would give you enough ASICs to double the amount of additional hashing capacity that you would have needed - not just enough to break even.

By the way, what do you mean by licensed rig makers? Would you be licensing your boards to them so they can build it or is it just verified/certified rig builders?

We are 100% focused on delivering our first batch of product right now, but we believe our core competency is in our superior chips and we will be working towards building a diverse ecosystem that is in the best interest of our customers.

Any news back on the mock tape out ?

Are you still on schedule for Oct shipping ?

Yes - mock tapeout went very well, and yes we are on schedule.

Where's tapeout?
  Tongue

Let me put it this way: I rushed to get these details out before tapeout, so that they wouldn't be overshadowed by more exciting news Smiley

111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 25, 2013, 12:59:09 AM
So let me get this straight. If I buy 2 BJ machines for 11k

And it starts mining but I only earn back about 10k worth of BTC by the timeframe. Then hashfast will send me chips to enable me to get ROI. Well not exactly "ROI". Just break even only. So then I'll have to flop out a further 1-3k for boards/shipping/assembly to potential earn back the missing [11k-10k] 1k worth of BTC? So overall I would still be at loss given that scenario.

 Roll Eyes

Oh does it take into account shipping costs as well? Because that's like 700usd or something?  Cheesy

We are trying to leverage our superior silicon design to benefit our customers, as much as possible.

In your example, we would give you enough ASICs to double the amount of additional hashing capacity that you would have needed - not just enough to break even.

Any updates on the Tapeout?

It hasn't happened yet, but it is very close. I wish I could say more... but will soon.

Great! thanks John.

+1 glad to see it.

Jon,

Do anticipate a date for the tape out being completed and will it be made public on blog/news?  Providing meaningful updates at least once a week is a good way to differentiate yourself from your competitors.

Yes tapeout is very close and we will absolutely announce it.
Agreed. We are going to try to communicate more moving forward.

John
