What does that mean? You quote something and then write about something completely different? Are you trying to change the subject? For a minute there I thought you might start being honest.

Do you want to make my thing said out of the moment a definition?

Best regards.

What does "thing said out of the moment" mean - that there are some things you write that we should ignore? Can you tell me which they are ahead of time to save us all some bother?
622  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: January 15, 2016, 02:16:02 PM
Admitted what precisely?

That you no longer support a view you held a few days ago. That members should expect you to say "I didn't really mean that" when you're losing an argument.

You are lost, that is fine.

Believe in God and you will find the way.

Best regards.

I never said that.

Yes, you said exactly that:

Something that worship an idol is not a Religion.

That was something said out of the moment.

That was not a definition.

Thank You.

No - thank you.

I'm not sure if you were being dishonest or if - in the heat of the moment - you'll just write whatever you think will win you an argument, but at least you have admitted it and that's the first step to recovery.
625  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: January 15, 2016, 01:36:17 PM

I'm afraid of finding myself in a dead end. I'm afraid of giving my Faith to the wrong person.

Thank You.

Best regards.

You're not going to try justify your belief that, by definition, religions do not worship idols? These are your words, you know.

I never said that.

You focus on the Religion word because you have no faith in God.

Focus on what you need to focus instead of the Religion word which is very clear to me.

Religion is a set of dogmas on Faith.

That is the best definition I found so far of Religion.

Thank You.

Best regards.

You still haven't answered the question so I'll rephrase it in the hope you'll understand it better. Do some religions worships idols or not?

Ask user BADecker: he's the one who want to save atheists!

That's a non-sequitur.

Do you have any intention of answering this one simple question? What is it you're afraid of?

BitNow, it's quite simple.

You write:
Here the word Faith means faith in the Supreme.

Something that worship an idol is not a Religion.

BADecker states that one definition of an idol as the deity - head of a religion - itself.

<snip>
In conjunction with the above, from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/idol:
Quote
idol
[ahyd-l]

noun
1. an image or other material object representing a deity to which religious worship is addressed.
2. Bible.
an image of a deity other than God.
   the deity itself.

Is a religion something that worships an idol or not? A simple question which you refuse to answer.

630  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why Zeus is a better option for salvation than Jesus or Mohammed on: January 15, 2016, 12:39:55 PM
Obviously Zeus offers a better chance at passage to the afterlife than those two stool pidgeonsprophets.  He is a real god, has been around much longer and doesn't need some phony book, just look up at the clouds.
Millions are already feasting in Valhalla, why dont you just give up your worship of false gods and worship Z instead?

Is "Zeus" trademarked? I'm not sure I'd be comfortable worshipping an idol that didn't have a trademarked brand.

You use a small amount of "energy" to contradict me here. Perhaps you have much more of this energy within yourself. If I contradict you more, will this energy of yours come out in further contradictions? The more you are set within yourself to care, and then back it up by using your energy, the more of a personal religion you have.

Smiley

Great, we're getting closer to a definition of religion! How many joules of energy does it take before an opinion becomes a religion? Some hard data here would be most welcome.

You must mean that you are figuring out how to use a dictionary or encyclopedia, or how to look up information on the Internet. 'Bout time.

Smiley

You say the more energy we use to espouse a particular point of view, the more it becomes a religion. What is the limit? How many joules of energy does it take before an opinion becomes a religion?

Notice that the energy that I used was in quotes. This means that I am using the word in ways that may not always be defined directly. Rather, I am using it to get an idea of sorts across.

The idea of measuring the amount of energy it takes for any mental process is probably something that many researchers are investigating.

How much energy does it take for the whole process whereby you sit there and write goofy stuff?

Smiley

What does it mean that you are "using the word in ways that may not always be defined directly"? Can you give examples of other words that cannot be "be defined directly"?

Time for you to go back to school, it seems.   Smiley

You have a terrible habit of not answering questions that make you think about your beliefs, don't you? All I'm politely asking for is a simple answer. Be rude if you must.

We are prepared to stop at NO cost.

I don't think that statement means what you think it means.
635  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: January 15, 2016, 11:21:19 AM
Its not that i hate religion but some religious actions does not jive to what they suppose to be. Although there are really good people.

Sometimes i dont want to be with my religious friends because there are many restrictions to what i do what i say and others.

That's my experience.

Your life - the way you live - is your religion. Everyone has religion.

Smiley

I don't have a religion, rather a simple human morale.

I don't even pretend to understand that last comment, but all I'm doing it attempting to have a debate with you. All you're doing is avoiding making sense. I have to wonder why? Are you a secret atheist trying to make religious people look disingenuous?

So: you are gay, and you avoid the question when asked directly. Good to know.

So: you just resort to what you think is name-calling when you feel threatened, when I've been nothing but polite and patient with you? Good to know.

Me and user BADecker are saying the same thing: atheism is idolatry, what we disagree is the punishment.
For me: atheism is a capital sin (punishment is death according to the Golden Calf episode Ex 32:4)
For user BADecker: he want to save all the atheist in the world...

And probably even more than that: we agree that atheism is a capital sin.

We disagree on the application of this law:
For me: we should kill them all and leave the problem aside.
For user BADecker: he want to save all the atheist in the world...

Thank You.

Best regards.

I'm not even talking about atheism.

You are not talking about atheism: so what are you talking about?

Idolatry of course. You were the one who brought it up. If you have already forgotten, just look a few pages back.

My question again: BADecker believes religions can worship idols, you believe they can't. Why should I believe you and not BADecker?

Believe regarding to what?

I'm an engineer not a priest.

In regard to this: BADecker believes religions can worship idols, you believe they can't, and why do you think you are correct and not BADecker?

There is a significant difference. I understand English might not be your first language, so I'll make it even more simple:

BADecker believes religions can worship idols, you believe they can't. Why should I believe you and not BADecker?

You should believe God not men.

Thank You.

Best regards.

So, you can't or don't want to answer my question? I wonder if that's because you don't want to admit you were wrong, or don't want to upset BADecker?

I wonder why are you stick so much to people's words: I'm not a lady... are you gay?

Best regards.

Responding to a response?

That is not semantically correct.

Thank You.

Best regards.

Oh my god! How many pages do you intend to avoid answering a simple question? Let me clarify for you:

1. You, BitNow, think that

Something that worship an idol is not a Religion.

2. BADecker believes that an idol is:

1. an image or other material object representing a deity to which religious worship is addressed.
2. Bible.
an image of a deity other than God.
   the deity itself.

You can't both be correct. Either a religion can or can not worship an idol. You think it can't. BADecker thinks a religion can worship an idol. Which of you is correct and why?

There is no difference in there, neither a question.
