304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I'm boycotting bitcoins. on: November 18, 2013, 06:54:44 PM
It's inherently classist. Only those with access to moderately high levels of technology can spend or receive it. Only those with access to exceedingly high levels of technology can "mine" it. Heterosexual, middle class or higher white males are disproportionally represented in the demographics of bitcoin users. Bitcoin only serves to uphold the current kyriarchal socioeconomic structures by making sure the privileged become more privileged.

And it's a terrible idea. You spend more on your parents' electricity bill and replacing burnt out GPUs that your parents buy for christmas and birthdays than you actually theoretically make.

Bitcoins are basically just this weird attempt by lolbertarian children to make their own currency and play stock market and dodge taxes.

It's fine, unlike the legacy monetary system, you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin-qt rant on: November 18, 2013, 06:52:14 PM
The qt isn't the only wallet out there. I suggest web wallets for new people who only a have a mbit or two.

307  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: So....My Blockeruptors just made their investment back. on: November 18, 2013, 06:01:01 PM
Yeah, but at least he can say he mined some Bitcoins  Undecided

Also to consider he still have the miners so he can mine more, he can mine alt-coins or he can sell the miners.

309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Chargebacks; All Transactions Final: Won't Fly. on: November 18, 2013, 05:21:16 PM
it's already flying, so far there isn't a problem with people wanting to spend btc, the problem is that people find it too hard to get btc.

this pretty much explains everything you need to know unless you want to start digging into the code yourself

Yes! I've watched that one about 4 times now all the way through!
311  Other / Off-topic / Re: How well do I understand bitcoin? how I see it on: November 17, 2013, 09:12:04 PM
That's what I love about bitcoin, there is always more to learn.

Only Satoshi is at level 4 Tongue.

Really it's hard for me to imagine how someone could have come up with such a concept and implemented without all the knowledge which we now have, really pretty amazing. I think it's better that we don't know who he is now, but I'd be happy if he wrote a book anonymously so we can get an idea of what he was thinking.

Isn't this how everyone who has ever known about anything ever knows things to different levels.

1. Some have no clue
2. Some have a bit of a clue
3. Some know a lot
4. Some know everything

ha yeah I like that!
313  Other / Off-topic / How well do I understand bitcoin? how I see it on: November 17, 2013, 08:31:54 PM
I've been spending a lot of time the past month trying to learn more and more about bitcoin with each week my efforts increasing even more than the previous week. I started to look at the understanding path as having four main levels.

1. Know nothing, or have only heard about bitcoin
2. Understand bitcoin from a user perspective
3. Understand in theory the full architecture and design of bitcoin
4. Understand bitcoin down to the code level

I feel hopeful about bitcoin in that getting from level 1 to level 2 only took me a short time, maybe a week thinking about it here and there, then finally starting to use it to buy a few things. I believe level 1 will be where 99.99% of users will be once bitcoin is mainstream. Now I feel like I'm somewhere in the middle of level 3, I have a good grasp of the theory of how the mechanics of the system work, however this step has taken a lot of time for me. I've literally watched hours of youtube videos on various encryption, networking and programming subjects, this was a big effort but I feel good that it's understandable now. I want to continue on and really understand how the code is functioning, how the protocol is working, etc, eventually I'd like to contribute in some way, even if that way is explaining bitcoin to folks in a new, maybe easier way.

314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin video I made (video) on: November 17, 2013, 07:46:47 PM
thanks for making the video, but for me I don't like text only videos, I like to hear someone speaking.

I think more than a few people have voted female by mistake.
316  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Code review of standard client? on: November 17, 2013, 12:23:03 PM
I see that this is a few weeks old but I want to bump it up because I would have thought there was a better answer out there.
317  Bitcoin / Project Development / Project managent and documentation sites on: November 17, 2013, 11:49:36 AM
Hi all,

Right now I have a few projects on going, some I've already finished and others I'd like to work on in the future. Today I'm using google docs (see my page for example at www.Ecurb.info), and I have sort of a template I use which works ok. The main need I have is to have a web based place to document, manage and share these projects. So my question is, is there anything better, maybe more professional looking than what I have, which is also easy to use and inexpensive?

319  Other / Politics & Society / Re: any free state project fans (or haters) here? on: November 17, 2013, 12:10:21 AM
I'm reluctant to join, simply due to the fact that it's easy to cut off the head of a centralized source; the last thing I'd want to do is surround myself with other libertarians, I'd rather just put a giant red target on my back.

or could it be that separated, one is easily not noticed when gone?

Found a couple, although this first one is a bit old, I liked how they presented the data:
