521  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: For fun: the lowest block hash yet on: November 05, 2013, 06:22:28 PM
Since I finally figured out how to read the block chain, I decided it would be fun to find the lowest hash produced, yet.  The hash for a block doesn't have to be AT that difficulty, it just has to beat it, and I figured there's gotta be some blocks with major overkill in terms target hash, just by luck.  Well here it is, block 125,552:

http://blockexplorer.com/block/00000000000000001e8d6829a8a21adc5d38d0a473b144b6765798e61f98bd1d

If I did the difficulty calculation correctly (no guarantees), I believe this block would've been valid even at difficulty 35,987,768,035  (current difficulty is 1,564,057).  Can someone verify that?

How did you figure out how to read the block chain? can you recommend any sites?

Just to make sure, what wallet are you using?
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We sponsored a new bitcoin introduction video, hope people will like it :) on: November 05, 2013, 06:14:09 PM
really good, in fact I think it's the best one yet. I like the one they have on bitcoin.org but I don't really think most people want to know about mining.
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you generated a Bitcoin address which had 100btc in it. on: November 05, 2013, 06:11:06 PM
I voted that I would delete the address and move on. Because as I understand it, this could only happen if I were to somehow get randomly generated the same address as someone else already had, am I wrong with that? And anyway if that happened I think it would be find to just delete the address, no harm done right?
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really broken? on: November 05, 2013, 06:08:35 PM
You're going to see more and more of these nonsense articles as Visa and Mastercard and the Banks start to worry for their profits.
Scaring people away from Bitcoin will be the most effective and common way to stifle its growth.
One mention of "hackers" and most people would never put their money into such a risky environment.

I think you're right, but it's ok. I think it's ok if BTC is slow to be accepted, although so far I think it's moving pretty fast.
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin really is in trouble. on: November 05, 2013, 06:06:59 PM
I agree it is a sham. Bitcoin is not currency it is a speculative bubble.

maybe there are people using it as a sham, but there are also people using it as a currency everyday.

I know some people are posting their mobile OS, I should have said "Desktop OS"
528  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which operating system(s) do you use? (Poll) on: November 04, 2013, 10:55:54 PM
I'll say it again in this thread. I've Windows 8 for my gaming PC and Ubuntu for my server.

Windows 8 for gaming? How good is that?

The main problem is everyone is having a hard time getting games to work with Linux, they don't support LINUX!!!!

I'm not a gamer but I've heard steam is going to fix everything to with linux and gaming. no?

Window 7, hate window 8 interface... Its just weird...

It reminds me of a tablet. Which I hate with a passion by the way.

did u tryed win 8 on your computer?!

It is much faster, you can remove metro and add basic start button

And free backups from NSA.

Is it true? I've heard many times but I've never seen it proven that government has access to any Windows PC which is on the internet.

Interesting, I'm not 100% convinced but thanks for the link.

as I understand it, it is possible for the difficulty to go down, however I'm not clear on what the conditions are which will allow for it to go down.

532  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC China takes the throne on: November 04, 2013, 10:38:47 PM
I know we're talking about trade volume, but can it be said that there are more people in China than in the US and Europe who are using bitcoin? I surely don't know whats going on in China but it doesn't seem to me that there is as much activity as in the west.
533  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin POS (point of sale) Register - Anyone made one, working on it, etc? on: November 04, 2013, 10:24:37 PM
I've seen a one or two out there, although I don't have any links. I'm working on a little raspberry pi based sort of coin jar, and I was thinking about later doing a second project which would be a BTC register. If you want to see it, this is my coin jar project.

534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: technical bitcoin podcast on: November 04, 2013, 10:19:40 PM
Are there any highly technical based bitcoin podcast out there? I like it when Let's talk bitcoin goes into a technical discussion but that's not all the time of course. Other than that the few other ones I've listened two were really lacking in this area.

Start one, I would enjoy a highly technical bitcoin podcast.

I don't have any experience with producing or hosting a podcast, but I'd give it a try with a limited scope if someone wanted to give it a go with me.
535  Other / Off-topic / Re: 10,000 Thanks for being awesome BTC world :) on: November 04, 2013, 09:43:40 PM
