That map doesn't show anything happening on bitstamp whilst they report volume in excess of 100k and you can watch their live order book, dozens of trades of 10+ bitcoins happening as we speak.

how is that map made? it shows zero trade anywhere but china

If you need stats you can easily look at the bitcoin address for any well known ponzi.

I hear bitcoin addresses have this thing called a public ledger where you can look up all the transactions without actually running your own ponzi

In Britain you're more likely to be a victim of every violent crime (short of murder) than in the USA where they can defend themselves.
