4301  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-06]President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro: ‘I Do Not Know What Bitcoin Is’ on: June 06, 2019, 10:21:02 PM
The president of Brazil is not a forward thinking person. With a population that size they should be competing with China but they are just a bunch of economic n00bs who will go no-where except the beach.

I think their primary hobby is murdering each other.

There are some exceptional operations there like Embraer but overall I really don't understand why South America is so consistently useless. They have brains and natural resources.

As for the president, he seems like the type of person who'd like to keep women chained up at home so I would not expect any announcements worth listening to about anything remotely futuristic.
4302  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best alternative to Tether? on: June 06, 2019, 06:28:22 PM
Lets see on what would happen. Thanks for the link share up yet im not aware on this news about Binance possible own stablecoins.
Whatever happens to Tether there are already lots of competitors is eyeing into its position but one thing should be put up on mind that
dont ever trust up fully with stable coins ever.

I'm amazed/shocked/depressed that Tether is still as strong as it is considering there are now multiple rivals put out by properly legitimate companies. I presume the only thing keeping them up there is the dimness and lack of imagination of its users.

I wouldn't class Binance as a properly legitimate company so their coin would be no more interesting to me than any other.
4303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: looking for a legit outlet that I can purchase Litecoins with Bitcoins on: June 06, 2019, 06:15:09 PM
Binance, changelly and coinbase can probably be used for this.

Coinbase needs kyc but I thnk it's just for fiat deposits to reduce risk of fraud.
Binance and changelly both need nothing but binance needs you to make an account with them.

Forget Changelly. They'll spring KYC on you whenever they feel like it and keep your money if you don't convince them. And Coinbase? Impossible.

If you want to be anon you need places with clear policies and limits. Binance do this up to 2 BTC. I was unverified on Okex and they gave me 0.5 BTC but warned I could be hit with KYC whenever.

Bitfinex still allow crypto only trading without KYC. No idea how long that'll last.
4304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After two years of legal battles, The Supreme Court ruled for a crypto exchange on: June 06, 2019, 05:56:09 PM
In most places banking is entirely discretionary. Banks can choose who they do and don't do business with. Is it different in Israel?

Something can be perfectly legal and still be shunned by banks.
4305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid in Bitcoin on: June 06, 2019, 05:44:46 PM
Merchant adoption is toast and getting toastier but that's not the reason most want paying in BTC anyway.

I would be interested but only if the fees are similar to using a standard exchange. So many services want more money for doing something you can easily do yourself.
4306  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-04]LocalBitcoins Confirms Removal of Local Cash Trades on: June 06, 2019, 05:11:49 PM
Maybe it's time to leave Finland? That's usually what one would do instead of applying draconian Finnish laws to every jurisdiction you serve. What are these guys thinking? Between this and the ramped up KYC procedures, LocalBitcoins is dead to me now.

Perhaps they like lounging at home rather than traipsing to some other jurisdiction? They must be rolling in it already.

They'll still do well positioning themselves in countries with crappy or non existent exchanges. The writing is on the wall for anywhere with a custodial element to it. It's just not a goer without suckling on The Man's phallus.
4307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling top at $16500 (Even Newer!: $2483 bottom 19 Feb 2021 MtGox said so!) on: June 06, 2019, 04:53:09 PM
Satoshi became irrelevant many years ago.

His big fat stash makes him relevant even though there's never been the slightest indication it's ever going to move.

Other than that the world has moved beyond him and that's precisely what his intention was I reckon. I'm sure he would've preferred to have wound up with vastly less coin too. Each one mined by him was a failure of his project.
4308  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best alternative to Tether? on: June 05, 2019, 09:08:40 PM
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-05/biggest-crypto-exchange-takes-on-tether-with-own-stablecoins

Binance will be launching their very own stablecoins soon according to that article. I presume that's likely to be the strongest contender to unseat Tether if it's ever to happen. Let's hope they have some actual accountability.

How reliable is Xapo as a company and web wallet?

There are two Xapos. The one for no marks who used it because it paid your fees once upon a time. The other one is being a friend of the CEO who stores your vast amount of coins for you. He persuaded quite a few big hitters to invest in BTC in 2012 or so. This particular tx will be the latter.
4310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on-chain tx volume has tripled in 2019 on: June 05, 2019, 02:19:25 PM
exactly. the difference between now and 2017 is that a big percentage of the transactions in 2017 were spam attack which were coming from multiple groups of spammers not just one group! each having different purpose from altcoin pumpers to big blockers forcing fork and lots more.
now, the spam still exists but it is not the biggest percentage. the bigger part is from generic transactions from real users transferring value to traders becoming active since bitcoin is in a bull run.

I'd be surprised if there's any purely malicious spam this time around. Last time it would've been Bitmain. Those spikes were prolonged and happening at weird times. It looks far more organic now with things falling back down rapidly.

The last blockchain spamming I heard of was ETH and people reckon it was EOS doing it.
4311  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 05, 2019, 01:32:53 PM
I guess it was canceled because of economic reasons. if you calculate with a price of 1k per Bitcoin the price should stay above 1k if you have to pay the costs of the event afterwards. in fall 2013 it was a short spike above 1k and then the price collapsed again. I expect the same if the price will go above 100k because a lot of hodlers will then cash out.

EDIT: it's always about risk. if someone is willing (and "crazy" enough) to organise such an event big style he should earn a decent amount of money for the risks he is taking.

Anyone expecting six figures and above to be the next peak and for that to be anything other than a fleeting top is a nutter. I'd be amazed if it lasted for more than a few hours, let alone days.

I always thought the 1k party I was familiar with stating it would only run once it stayed above 1k for a whole month was silly. Peaks are symbolic more than anything. You may as well celebrate them no matter what the aftermath consists of and how transient they were.

What's happened to the veriblock crew? I haven't been paying much attention. Have they now been priced out of BTC usage, launched their own chain or are still filling large proportions of blocks up?
4313  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we still expect more from bitcon? on: June 05, 2019, 12:03:50 PM
So far it's been more than I was expecting. I'm not all that interested in any price action until the halving is well in the rear view mirror. I reckon the 10 grand level will be a tough nut to crack and there'll be multiple attempts to breach it.

We've been treated to some explosive signs of life. That's enough to tide me over at least for quite some time.
4314  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 05, 2019, 11:12:21 AM
And average of 2 guests seems a bit too much. Most guys have only one GF/wife. Smiley
So maybe 1 guest per old hat...

I'd be interested to know who'd be willing to join the Wall Observer in their life at such a do. Many would be creeped out by the idea.

As for me I don't know anybody any more. I would be bringing my 60-70 emotional support eels.

Image didn’t work but I put it in my browser Cheesy Cheesy

Fuck that, I ain’t going to that party.

What the hell is wrong with you?

Does anyone have an imgur alternative to suggest? It seems to have changed for the worst recently and is now poo.

Thank you for the suggestion. My wonderful idea is now out in the open. Any females who want to turn up are exempt. They have to pay to watch though.

Well, the SEC has just gone official on this. I hope Kik have all their thingies in order. It seems like many will be watching what happens with this. If it's Kik vs the monolithic everything the odds may not be great.

Not that I care about any of this prediction, it's probable junk like all others, but A seven thousand dollar shortfall is close enough? By that level of thinking Craigycoin is Bitcoiny enough too which explains plenty.

If this little soiree is going to cost 400 fucking grand ...

A few seem to have settled on 10 grand a piece and 40 people. No idea why and it Weren't me. No, sir.
4319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 03, 2019, 01:48:39 AM
Jaywick Sands

Gotta be Jaywick. it's fantastic.

My womanfriend of the time was threatened with murder there for walking past someone's coat.

If this little soiree is going to cost 400 fucking grand then for that figure you can buy a knees up plus the whole of Jaywick and blow it up, plus buy new teeth and homes and prospects for the wretches who live there.

You realize Bognor is going to become a meme

It has been for many years https://quotes.yourdictionary.com/author/quote/8032

It's not a million miles from the best submarine and only hovercraft museum. They may have some hardware for hire to outrun or out sink our would be kidnappers.

I went on a hovercraft the other day and feel that it made me a better person overall.
