The vast majority of posters here are male. In my experience around half of them are decent people, a quarter are trolls and the remainder are newbies or egomaniacs.
That being the case, I'd say it's normal to see strong male orientated behaviour here. Is some of it distasteful, yes but are you saying that this is purely gender related?
Mainly it is...I don't see "double bottom" being represented by a man's ass or even a normal woman's ass...its always a young, tanned, perfectly formed ass....its an excuse for a bit of soft-porn for the lads. You're saying a group of women would behave differently?
Of course, they'd behave differently....they may not behave better but I imagine you'd get pretty sick of seeing pictures of male bottoms. And most mature, intelligent women would find endless images of George Clooney a bit tiresome too. If so, isn't what you're saying inherently sexist?

Absolutely, I am not saying all women are paragons of virtue, intellect or even-handedness...far from it. However, you cannot (surely) disagree this is a male-dominated world? Some comments from last night which spring to mind: "with my profits I'm going to get a whore on a leash" "Made so much money gonna have a hundred ho's and a gang bang" The word 'rape' is thrown around with abandon. Yet, you'll get a ban for the heinous crime of using ALL CAPS!! Oh, it's just trolling you laugh...but prostitution is not a fun career and a rape fantasy often ends up being fulfilled in real life These are the people mining crypto and from what I can make out they're not a pleasant bunch. |

The rise in price is not what is bothering me. What IS bothering me is that people seem to think the rise in price is a sign of it going mainstream. BUT IT'S NOT. It's just a hype brewing right now. Speculators wanting in on a quick profit.
The rise in price wouldn't bother me at all if the bitcoin economy/ecosphere/trading platforms/regulation were ready for it. BUT IT'S NOT. And when people realize this it's gonna come crashing down, only to rise again in the future, once all the stuff I mentioned above is in order and in place. Wel...Maybe this is the way it works.

A few days back everyone was cursing Stamp, before that Gox was public enemy...and rightly so, these are the biggest 'Western' exchanges and they are rubbish. Everytime there's a spurt in volume we either get a ddos attack or their servers can't cope. The infrastructure just isn't there yet ...being a 'bull' or a 'bear' is not going to change this (unless you get off your ass and do something instead of just wanting to get wealthy). |

I learnt yesterday that BTCChina doesn't accept HK bank accounts (whihc is very unfortunate). As an SAR HK residents have far greater privileges with regard to forex, so it would be interesting to know what exchanges are popular there.

Wtf is going on here. The chart looks unnatural like nothing ive ever seen even in bitcoin. When do I sell? I sold just 20% of my coins yesterday as a hedge and on bitfinex I can I have a loss of several grand. Its bugging me out.

Yet, you want the rest of the world to adopt BTC - well, I've got some news guys...new people love being treated like dirt...us women especially...we find it such a winning business strategy. That comes in heavy irony tags for those of you a bit slow on emotional intelligence. The only positive from the last 8 hours of the above thread is seeing Chodpaba again....hurrah for a polite, sensible and considered voice - I wish you'd restart your Peak/Reversal Watch thread. The rest of you - try respecting each other and especially newcomers - the world is watching you/us now, you/we are ambassadors for Bitcoin, try and behave like adults. noob question: how important is parabolic sar as an indicator?
1d charts for stamp and gox show that it flipped.

I'm not familiar with SAR (??) but I find EMA can give a good indication of trends; however, I don't think a daily chart provides particularly accurate info - the longer the time frame the more accurate TA becomes IMHO. Indeed, there are a number of people here who argue that BTC is too new/volatile for TA and that fundamentals are a better guide. NB I've only been trading since the beginning of the year although I've been aware of BTC since 2011 (I just stupidly didn't invest) - so what do I know  |
